I love Petco! This location especially. It's located in a great part of town. Such a clean, large, pet friendly hospitable store. Great customer service, all the guys that work here (LOL) are really nice, they even introduce themselves and seem very willing to help you. Though the organization of the store is not that great, again like I have mentioned the store associates seem more than willing to help you with your needs. If I could, I would definitely make the drive over here rather than my town's Petsmart (bleh!) for ALL my dog's needs. It's unfortunate though, about what people are saying about the grooming salon. Thankfully, I don't ever come here for grooming, and a poor grooming salon in a major pets store is not a big surprise anyway. read more

Petco, you killed my damn fish you A-holes! I have been a patron of yours for a while now. After buying dog food, some treats, pee pads, fish food and filters from you you have done nothing short of murdered my little office pets =( How could you do this to me! I have a little 5 gallon fish tank that I set up at work a couple of years back with 2 goldfish I bought while at a pet store with my best friend and god son. I decided that after a couple of years I wanted to put a couple more fish in there, so Petco was my natural one stop shop for instant pet supply satisfaction. I picked out 2 cute goldfish on my lunch hour and went back to the office. A week later my new fish were belly up and my other ones were not looking so happy either. A couple of days later they too went towards the light. I went back to Petco as they said to do with their 15 day guarantee and as promised they did give me my money back for the 2 fish I had purchased from them, but there was nothing to be done for my other fish. Their response was "oh, well your water is clean. It looks like they must have had a disease of some kind." Really?! You think? My fish lasted for two years no problem and then they come in contact with Petco's typhoid fish and die within days, stupid petco jerks. I've worked at a pet store before and normally there is at least a 15 day quarantine period before they sell their animals to make sure that they are healthy before they go out to the public. I guess that Petco doesn't believe in this practice. I've always known that they were overpriced, and I have slowly been trying to ween myself off of their stores. I get my greenies for Bella online (cheapest I've found yet) and now I just need to find a place to get her food and I'll be set. I am not going to give them my business anymore. The worst part is having an empty fish tank in my office and having to sound like a broken record 50 times a day, telling every patient who asks "oh, what happened to your little fish?" the same friggen story. Poor poor poor customer service. I rarely ever shop here, but I needed to for an item I couldn't find at my normal petstore. The store has advertised all over the front that they will match prices. Online they have a product advertised for 5$ cheaper than instore. When I went to check out and showed the cashier the online price, he refused to accept it. I then showed him the petsmart price, which again he refused to accept because I didn't have a hard copy of the ad and he says it is against their policy to honor any online price. While I understand this, I think it is horrible customer service to not even honor your own online price. I called the customer service line and the lady gave me some spiel about how online is cheaper and even if I called another chain while in the store they would not honor the price unless I had the advertisement showing an item was onsale. I told her that this does not mean that they match prices and basically she would rather I shop online than give their store business. She told me that if it was of that big of deal I would just not shop there. Sums up my experience and I will not be returning there ever. Petclub down the street continues to win my business. Aside from that, you can expect to pay at least 2x the price from other stores. Shame on you petco. read more

Pet grooming dept I called & got a quote of $40-50 range for cut & shampoo for my medium sized dog, After my dog got groomed (5hrs later), they gave me a bill for $78. How come price almost doubled & I was charged as large dog category. This place is a rip off. Hair cut was not all that. It took too long & it was pricy & misleading. My mom took my Westie to Petco a couple weeks ago to have my dog groomed as a surprise for me (she was dog sitting and thought it would be nice to have him groomed when I came back to get him.) Well, we were both surprised when we saw him and not in a good way... He came back unrecognizable as a Westie. They returned him shaved down to BARE SKIN in parts and with fade stripes down his back!!! I'm not really that picky about him being groomed to a breed standard, after all he's a pet, not a show dog but REALLY?? To their defense, the groomer said he was very active on the table and "all boy", however the other groomers I've taken him to (I usually do the grooming myself), have said he was very good and well behaved. We will not be returning to the groomers here because of bad results, poor display of dog handling skills and seeminly lack of grooming knowledge. read more

Emily was my trainer for the AKC canine good citizen program, We were every Saturday for one hour and it was incredible, Emily is a passionate and patience trainer, she show us how to work with our dog, he came to the first class being a nutty dog, now he is an obedient and calm dog, I'm so happy with the results, with all the staff of Petco but specially my trainer Emily and my groomer Tanya, highly recommend the place for both activities and also to shop there, I always find something for my dog! read more

I recently got my betta fish from here, they've got lots of varieties here going from baby bettas to king bettas. But the downside to a few bettas is that they look dead or at least close, also some would have fin rot. Yet that is to be expected when getting a fish from a pet store, there are so many and they can't just babysit one. My betta which is a lovely male veiltail, looked healthy and active for being one of the varieties I expected to be treated poorly. Though at first I didn't think he was that active until I lightly tapped on the plastic, he moved around a lot and seemed to be fine(which he was). I came back a second time to buy a few things for him, I had him in a one gallon tank which was not the preferred tank for bettas so I went back and bought a 2.5 gallon. Though it says it's meant for quarantine and a fish hospital, I got it anyway since it was cheap and large. While being back I looked at other bettas to see if they had new ones and they did! I saw more bettas that look decently healthy and had beautiful colors than the last time I went. Sadly there were a few bettas I saw last time that didn't get picked to be taken home, but they looked fine so I brushed that off. There were only one or two king bettas that looked healthy but I didn't pay close attention to since I was looking at ones that had big and colorful fins. There was this really beautiful betta that had fin rot :(. But besides that they also have everything you need for a betta, I had bought sand, a soft fake plant, a little home so he could hide in, and a betta bed(a fake leaf suctioned to the side of the tank). He loves to lay on his bed and swim into his little ball. Overall I'd say this place has everything. But three stars since they sold bettas that looked dead and didn't clean the water for 1% of the bettas there. read more

They carry a large selection but compared to other places they are more expensive (even with coupons). I seem to always have bad luck whenever I try to use a Petco coupon. They never seem to scan in correctly and I end up getting charged more than expected. Also they often mislabel their sale items. I've picked up food that was supposed to be on sale just to be charged full price at the cashier. I've spent many minutes at the cashier on each visit to do price corrections. read more

I never had a problem here so far although I wash my own dog since he doesn't need trimming. Once in a while it takes long to get someone to help us in a certain department, but not often. I am happy we can use an empty one gallon jug for salt water for only 89 cents, which we use for our hermit crabs. Recently we asked to hold a baby bearded dragon because my daughter is learning about them before she can have one for her birthday. Today I came into the groomers for a nail trim, Nancy asked one of her employees to cut my dogs nails and she responded with "no". Thats so disrespectful especially to say it in front of me. Yes... yes... I know I said I would never come back here but my friend refered me to her groomer Jenny and I decided to go back. Jenny is excellent!!!!!!! I will never take my puppy anywhere else!!! She did exactly what I wanted and listened to every word I said. When I picked him up she told me everything about pelitos and what she found while grooming him. She even suggested a new food product which I will be changing over to and even flea dipped him at my request even though she did not find any fleas. Jenny is the best groomer ever! and for the first time my puppy came out of the groomers happy and not upset with me! Thank you Jenny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I often shop at Petco since it's close to my house and they have the special allergy formula dog food for my Cedes. I made a quick run tonight and was very happy with the service. I asked the cashier if he could help me find A Missing Link formula for my dog. I wanted to get a few puffers from the fish department and i obvously saw that the girl was helping another customer, so i politely said, ' when you get a chance i would like to get a couple fishes' and she looked at me and said RUDELY 'im busy with a customer right now'. I was just like WTF seriously, i was freaking nice to you! I work in retail so i understand if someone is nice to you, you be nice back.. It was just uncalled for and rude! Another time i had come to buy a few things, but later that day i came to return it, the dumb guy at the register, returned one of the items and then charged me again for the other item i wanted to return! i said.. uh my total is suppose to be more..and he said didnt you wanna buy this, i was like NO i said i wanted to return BOTH. so he had to return the item TWICE. Worst place to shop. Everything is so expansive here. Customer service is bad. Try Amazon or Pet Smart. Never take your pet for training here. You will end up spending lot more money to train your pet and will have tough time. read more

I stopped by after a emergency vet visit to pick up a few supplies for my cat. I was a bit overwhelmed and one of the managers helped me find what I needed and provided further recommendations. I wish I had read the grooming reviews before I went! I took my under 15 pound dog for a grooming to this store...for a wash, cut, nail trim, etc. I was told it would be $65 (thats $15 more than the local groomer) but I wanted a backup place so I thought I would try Petco. I was told my dog would be ready at 7pm...so I went to a meeting....my son picked the dog up at 7pm and was told he was too "squiggly" to groom...instead I got a shampoo for $42! I can wash a small dog for $42! Don't go here for grooming, look at Yelp for great local groomers. read more

Selection: Ehh. I only really shop here for my rodents. Not many pet stores have a great selection of hamster toys. I hate that their fish and rodents are cramped in teeny spaces and are often sick. Their dog selection is so-so. I noticed their dog bowls and toys are more expensive than other pet stores in the area. I do like that they have a little bit of everything for every animal. Grooming: Ehh also. I used to take my poodle mix here. He'd always come back looking great but the grooming was never consistent. Sometimes he'd come back with a puppy cut or fully shaved. Once they gave him a schnauzer cut for some reason. I don't really mind as long as he comes back clean. Now I have a pomeranian and I'm a little apprehensive about letting them cut her hair. They do a bath and brush every now and then when I can't get her to her regular groomer right away. Once they cut her nails while I shopped around in the store. Dog Training: BAD! I wish I remembered the name of the teacher. I just remembered she was an older woman. At first I though she was great just because she kept going on and on about how she trained guide dogs for 20 years or something and that was the only conversation I had with her. There were 2 lab puppies in my class that were failed guide dogs or something and she pretty much focused all her attention on them. The only people to finish the course was the 2 labs and me. I'm sure everyone else stopped attending because they felt like they didn't get their money's worth. To be fair I've only used this service once. I'm planning on using this service again with a different teacher this summer with my new puppy. I'll update if it's better. (I hope!) Service: Does anyone even work here? It's a huge store but whenever I'm walking around I can only spot one or two employees (including the cashier). The cashiers are usually very friendly though. I shop here occasionally just because it's so close to my house. I like that they have cat adoptions, aspca donations, and a community board for lost/found pets. But the service is usually a miss and the selection is less than stellar. I usually go to Pet Food Express for my pet needs. It's a little further, but worth it. read more

I'm writing this review based on the grooming section of the store. We made an appointment to take our Newfoundland in to be groomed, the day we went in they had somehow "lost" our appointment. So we asked if they had any opening that same day and they treated us like we were such an inconvenience. Saying they could take our dog depending on how much we want cut off which I found weird. Needless to say they didn't seem sorry that our appointment was lost and I wasn't impressed with their customer service. Left and went to Petsmart instead who were way nicer! read more

Grooming: Walked in without an appointment on a Friday night to get my dogs nails trimmed. The young woman who did the trimming was great. She was calm with my dog and followed my request for clip and file. Her nails were trimmed beautifully and quickly. The manager was grooming another dog. She checked with the owner to make sure the trim on the coat was what the owner wanted. I drove past another PetCo (due to a poor experience) to get to this one. If the customer service here is a hit or miss, both times ive been in here, they have been misses. The first time i went in to look for some omega 3 for my dog, because of her skin condition and her vets recommendation. I was in the store for over 30 min and NO ONE EVER ASKED IF I NEEDED HELP. IT was sooo confusing, i was looking all over, reading bottles after bottles. i finally bought something that I'm still a little iffy about, but i figured it would be fine. The second time i was in there, i believe someone asked if i needed help, but i didnt anymore. I came to buy dog food, and got what i needed and got the hell out of there. ON A SIDE NOTE: I didnt want to buy my dog food there because of what happened last year at the sunnyvale petco, and how i bought her dog food that WAS EXPIRED! When i called customer service they were sooo rude! They just kept putting me on hold and only offered to give me my .99 cents back! What if my dog got extremely ill! They didnt care, they dont care about their customers, only want to make a quick buck. I refuse to shop there AGAIN! read more

We found a new groomer, Doggie Stylezz, up the street on Blossom Hill and Snell. They are MUCH nicer, don't keep our dog there for 8 hours, have never nicked our dog and treat him with respect - don't roll their eyes at us when they bring him out. Maybe because they seem to like their jobs our dog isn't so terrified of them and cooperates now! Much better - I have not returned to Petco since - not even for dog food!!! My ten year old daughter says, "Petco should go out of business." I tend to agree . . . read more

I have taken two of my shih tzu's for grooming at this Petco, and have been very happy with the service. The groomers are very nice and welcoming, and very sweet to our puppies: ) I feel very comfortable taking my babies to them. The cash register area always seems to annoy me. They have a cat rescue right next to the registers which is really annoying b/c I'm really allergic, and there is always a smelly little 12 yr old that sits there with the cats. She always asks to pet the dogs in line..and omg, she smells awful! read more

From all of these reviews i've just got done reading for the grooming salon i would of never took my baby there, but im SO HAPPY I did. All of the girls that worked in there were very friendly and professional. Michelle checked my dog in and Jenn (the grooming manager) was my dogs groomer and she put her dog down that she was working on and came to meet me and lucky. She was very good with going over exactly what I wanted done to her and what different packages they offer. Even though the price is a little higher than the usual it was so worth it. I highly recommend Jenn to anyone that is looking for a life long groomer for their dogs, she is great! read more

This is specifically for the pet grooming Dept. The staff here are rude and have no customer service! My dog had a minor hot spot on his back and was seen by a vet and the vet gave me a note which it indicated it was ok to get my dog groomed. I had asked if they they had same day appointments or something in the week and she was like oh No no no were booked out until next week. Then she looked over the counter and looked at my dog in disgust! She saw the red spot on his back and said no we won't groom your dog with a open wound like that! (Mind you it wasn't an open wound it was more like red spot) She said "we're a corporation that's big and we won't see him looking that" like excuse me Mrs corporation that's too big! After doing my research Petco groomers ended up killing a dog back in 2015! So I was glad I didn't leave my dog here ended up going to Wagly which was the best thing I ever did! read more

I'm not sure.. but ... this Petco is super small. They have a conure in there that has been in there for months.. :( The cat people got all crazy because we had a puppy with us .. "get your puppy away" uh you are right next to the checkout line. .. Cat .. I had heen waiting for Petco's biannual sale for a tank for my turtles so I stopped here yesterday and bingo, I got an excellent deal. I got a 40 gallon tank for $40 in addition to 5 other items and they price matched 2 of them with no hesitation. The sales associate that helped us out was very knowledgeable and everyone offered great customer service. Needless to say, I was very happy with my whole shopping experience. read more

I visit this Petco every weekend, mostly because I'm a foster parent for cats that attend the adoption fair. I used to go there for my bird supplies but recently they discontinued a lot of the stuff that my bird enjoyed playing with. Plus, they are extremely expensive when it comes to simple items, I bought a wooden bar for my bird and it cost me $5 for a single bar. Although, with that being said, they do have a good price on Wellness cat food which I like. I just wish they had a bigger variety when it comes to dog collars. read more

I always liked Petco as a store itself, prices have always been the same, pricey. Needless to say, today we tried the petco grooming. Petco grooming staff was very friendly and loved our dog the moment we stepped in. I was pretty disappointed with prices since they estimated 50~60 + because I wanted the dr. Seuss special apparently 25 extra, a little ridiculous but he needed a good grooming and I was working all week, charged me $80. I WAS happy with the grooming itself, out dog was very cute and fluffy but for the price, I wouldn't go here again. I also had noticed they noted our PURE Pomeranian as a mixed breed without even asking, simply because he isnt AKC size standard like 4~6 pounds you say he ISN'T a Pure Pomeranian? He looks and is 100% pure pom, not some stupid Craigslist dog. I felt angered they didn't even ask. Its like having a black dog and them noting "white dog" (basically it's obvious to everyone but the groomers are being class A dicks and fucking everything up) . Seriously? Yeah, no thanks. This place only knows how to groom and overcharge but certainly has no knowledge of dogs. Are dogs even real? Yeah, they'd probably question it. I'm surprised they wrote my number correctly. Recommend this place? If you're rich, like to get your dog's information fucked up and if you are desperate to get your dog groomed on a more open budget $$$$. Otherwise, no. Don't come here, just make an appointment elsewhere. read more
