I have beeen a loyal customer for years spending almost $100 dollars a month on pet supplies and toys. I bought a leash and harness for my Chiuhaua and it was too large, never removed the labels. I tried to exchange the item but they wouldn't . The cashier said it was against their Store Policy to exchange a leash without a receipt. Who makes up these stupid policies? Dog owners beware! I brought my dog for grooming and everything seemed fine until the next morning. My dog kept scratching his eye. Then upon a closer look, his left eye was inflamed and had an elevated red bubble. We had to take him to the doctor right away. He has conjunctivitis, he's now on steroid eye drops, and we are positive this was from Petco. He didn't have any eye conditions before we took him in for grooming and now he's wearing an e-collar and on steroids. read more

Had my 6 year old white Miniature Schnauzer washed, cut and groomed at the Petco in West Hollywood at Doheny & Santa Monica Blvds. Elder was the groomer and he did a phenomenal job and my dog looks absolutely amazing! People stop me all the time while walking and comment on how beautiful he is and what a cool and adorable haircut he has! One of the best cuts ever!!! Thank you! read more

How can this place even be considered a pet store? The staff is very unfriendly and unknowledgeable. They don't even clean up after a dog has an accident! I was shocked to see that this store had a lower rating because my boyfriend and I love this store/location so much...as does our puppy Sasha. We adopted our baby girl three months ago, she's a Belgian Malinois/a very smart power breed and we knew we would want help training her. We googled and yelped trainers in our area/I didn't care the price tag, I just wanted to know that we would have a great trainer/experience. We started with a different company and paid for someone to come over for an in home personal training experience; It was not good, the trainer didn't connect with Sasha or us and we were left very unsatisfied and bummed about spending a nice chunk of change. We decided to just walk down to the Petco and see how that felt for us...Enter in Karen Pachecho! We asked to speak to a trainer and we were introduced to her...She was friendly, professional, and informed, also just so gentle and excited towards Sasha. She also let us know that she has two bigger dogs at home as well which made us trust her even more. We signed up right then and there for the 12 week puppy course. We are now two months into said course and it was the best money we've spent on Sasha! Karen has trained her to sit, lay down, come, stop, leave it, fetch, hide and seek, shake, high five...She has helped show us how to train her at home, she helped us with picking out the right food for her, the training treats, toys, shampoo...when we were nervous about getting her groomed she introduced us to a wonderful groomer there that was so gentle with Sasha and returned her to us relaxed and fresh/so clean....Everywhere we go we bring Sasha and people are shocked at how well behaved she is at such a young age, and so much of that is due to Karen and her wonderful training/guidance. All this to say, if you are looking for an affordable, talented, friendly trainer look no further than Karen at Petco on Doheny! Also to the management here, she deserves a raise/promotion. We are halfway done with puppy classes and will be signing up for the adult classes with Karen right away, you should do the same! read more

DO NOT GROOM YOUR ANIMAL HERE!!! Angie, the BUTCHER who hacked my cat returned him to me with severed, bleeding nipples and his nails were trimmed OFF. OFF!!! She basically declawed my cat. Thats not even to mention the horrible choppy hair cut. My cat is 6 years old, he has been groomed many many times (never less than 3 times a year.) The groomers always comment on how sweet and calm he is, so this is not a case of a squirmy cat-- and even if he was, that is no excuse for the bloody mess that was returned to me. My couch is covered in bloood. I called Petco and spoke with the "manager," Mary, who was not only unsympathetic, she told me that I needed to go to a vet SHE suggests, that Petco uses directly, PAY for it out of my own pocket, and have them send a WRITTEN STATEMENT that they are "liable" in order for her to refund my money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Of course, as Im typing this I am seeing the horrible grooming expeciences from others. Our poor beloved pets were trusted in these PIGS care and they were abused instead. SHAME ON YOU -- UPDATE: I took my cat in to a PET ER because the bleeding would not stop. Turns out she SHAVED HIS NIPPLES OFF. He was given antibiodics for trauma and they told me they have never seen a grooming job done so badly, that it looks as though Angie used a straight razor with no attachment. The hair is not only ugly, and lopsided, he has scabs on his nipple area from where they used to be. Also his nails were cut too short and she did nothing to stop the bleeding. The vet was shocked. We were there for 4 hours. HORRIBLE. Everyone involved should be fired immediately. The worst part is there was no mention of my cat being nicked or cut or anything. I went here today to get some bedding for my guinea pig. I ended up purchasing a bird/small animal carrying case. I have a bird that I am not allowed to keep where I live. He is loud. The case was a good deal i thought. I was also listening to this customer talking to an employee about the dog biscuits at the front of the store. The employee was like humans can eat them also. Go for the toys!! You'll be hard-pressed to find a better selection of toys for dogs (and maybe cats? i dunno) anywhere in the area. Petco has also started carrying a "budget" line of toys so you don't have to spend $15 on a stuffed ball that will last for a day. Maybe. The best tip I can give you is to wait until after a holiday and then go buy all of the holiday themed toys that will be on sale. And they don't even have ability to let dog use bathroom if they need and charge you if they go inside. They also charge $20 if you are late to pickup your dog even by an hour. The $20 extra for "boarding" if late doesn't even cover letting dog walk to use bathroom. Scam! They have no consideration of circumstance and just want to rack up the charges. Avoid! So there was a deal where Fancy Feast cat food was 30 cans for $18. I always just grab the cams by the case for the ease of carrying them out. Well, I was rung up by the case which is more expensive- usually the cashier just takes out one can and will scan it multiple times but this time they didn't. When I asked to have the difference refunded, the manager, Matt was beyond unprofessional. He acted like a bitch, as if I had done something grossly wrong. It was a simple request. And I would've been ok just doing an exchange for cans outside of the case, but this manager's attitude was unbelievable. I had no qualms just doing a return and taking my business elsewhere. This review is directed at the groomer, Gloria, who was the rudest person I have ever come across. I was promised a re-do for my dog by the manager, with whom I talked extensively on the phone and we were totally on the same page regarding the issue at hand. He assured me that he was leaving a note for his groomers so that when I came back with my dog I would receive the service I was due. When I arrived, I was told that this particular manager was not there, which I later found out to be a bold faced lie, and Gloria, the groomer, verbally abused me, denied that there had been any notes from the manager regarding my situation, and then had the nerve to grab my very small dog roughly out of my hands. Truly, this woman deserves to be fired, and so does the manager for lying to me and not backing me up with his employee. Disgusting behavior by all. Will never go to this place again. read more

It's a normal Petco experience at the store. The grooming is great. I have been using them with my 2 dogs for years now, and never had any problem. My dogs get treated well, and come out nice and clean. Sometimes even with a cute little scarf around their necks. They answer any questions I might have, and are always done ahead of time. I took my 4 year old poodle-bichon mix to this Petco a few weeks ago for a grooming. The first thing that should have warned me about this place was the lack of enthusiasm of the people that worked at the grooming department. You usually see people that love animals work as groomers, but these people were short and cold with me when I dropped off my dog. It took almost 4 hour for them to finish grooming my dog. When I got him back his cut was decent but he looked a bit shaken up. The next day is what really shocked me. My dog has deep red rashes on his neck and behind his ears where he'd be scratching all night. It got to the point where it was bleeding pretty bad. I took him to the vet and she said the wounds were due to aggressive clipping caused by the groomers. It took two weeks for the poor dog to finally heal up. I STRONGLY discourage you to take your dog here for grooming services. Not only do they treat the grooming like an assembly line, they're rough with your animal and they make the whole experience unpleasant. Not to mention I paid almost $70 for them to do this to my dog. Typical West Hollywood arrogance. I'm definitely going to take my dog to a proper groomer next time. read more

Used to take my dog to Petco Groomers monthly three years ago and they did a fanstastic job then...removed his tear stains and trimmed his nails nicely and returned him to me dry. Recently relocated back to WEHO and too my dog in for a bath and nail trimming/buff. When I got my dog back, his nails were still long...and bits of nail were hanging on each digit, his hair was still a bit damp and he still had tear stains under his eyes. Had to demand that they trim and buff his nails more, dry him and remove the tear stains. They did not and said they could not remove the tear stains. Load of crap. What makes matters worse, my dog now has worms...he didn't have them before Petco and has never had them before! AVOID. read more

Ok this is my story, First my mom ( elder person) goes to Petco on la brea she falls has an accident and store staff didnt care and they didn't even make a accident report. Water was all over floor and because the floor was shining she or anyone else are unable to see the water on floor. After a few days somebody else goes to petco on doheny, thinking maybe its better to go another one I place 2 orders online and pick up at curbside ,he gets there and employee gives him only one order and tells him the other order is not available and it will be refunded so I called and spoke to Supervisor name Andrea on shift tells me yes the order is ready and she doesn't know why the employee would say that, but if I dont want it she can give me back the credit. The problem with this is not whether I want credit back or refund it's the customer service .Again I ask myself this question why do they have Supervisor in charge whom dont know how to run a store? Petco on la brea also had a supervisor not an assistant mgr nor a store mgr onsite, petco on doheny didn't have a assistant mgr or a store manager onsite, it seems that a corporation this big should have someone with more experience and or with management skills than just a department supervisor which whom are not fully train to handle this kind of stores. Please Petco I hope someone from corporate will reads this and solve this issues and not just reply with a auto reply mess. read more

I didn't realize it was missing until well after they were closed. I went back this am and the store employee handed my wallet back to me with a smile and all credit cards and cash in tact! if i could give this place 0 stars i would. i went today with a grooming appt (after waiting 2 weeks) and was told that they were closed and were no longer taking appts. i did not get a call from anyone at all or anything letting me know this. i even called the petco that's like 1 mile away and they were even confused as to why they were closing. the worst part was the rude manager and groomer. the groomer had the nerve to tell me that my dog needing a haircut was not his problem and that if i wanted to rebook i could wait two weeks. like wow. way to show customer service. never coming here again and what a horrible first impression. do not come here. read more

My new little doggie LOVES to go to this Petco! The ladies at this location are the most amazing staff in the entire world. They know her name and always stop to say hello while she picks out her new bone. We took obedience lessons with Alaina who was amazing! Monica is always so nice as well. The groomers are always great. This was my first small doggie, with separation anxiety at that, so the girls always calmed a crying dog-mommy down and helped out in the best ways. Absolutely terrible. I went maybe a week or two ago to get my dog the Natural Balance rolls but they don't seem to carry them anymore and when I asked if they had anything similar one of the managers just shrugged and said they don't. Was it really so hard for them to maybe put a little more thought into what they had in stock. Then when I go to pay with a 100$ bill they didn't have enough change in the register and as I overhear the gawky cashier ask for more change from the manager Timmy, I heard him say, "ugh already!". So then I have to wait for almost 10 minutes for what should have been a 10 second transaction. Well sorry I'm holding you guys up and then they start looking at me like it's my fault they don't have any money in their registers. I will not be going back there anytime soon. read more

If I could give the grooming service negative stars I would....I took my dog here and was told that they could not groom her there any longer! I asked them why? They said "because she's old and has a nervousness shaking problems we don't want to be liable for her to have a seizure" I said are you kidding me? I asked them was she aggressive? They said no we just can't risk taking care of older dogs. I take my dog usually to Posh pet care on melrose they have catered to her a million times she always comes back well groomed and happy they never give me a hard time about her age or her nervousness. They have excellent service all the time. However the manager at petco is rude and unprofessional my dog didn't go for any cuts or anything she simply was just taking in for a bath. I obviously will never recommend anyone to take their dog here. Just don't do it and go to Posh pet care where they actually care and love your dog like it's their own. read more
