I used a laundromat in Brooklyn, NY. I never used a laundromat in San Francisco, CA. Perhaps my father said I could use his laundry device machine. The other places were nice and let me do my laundry in the home. I asked about doing laundry and was advised to use "wash and fold" and I found that Pete's Cleaners by the Chinatown tunnel(Union Square) offers "wash and fold" same day by 4pm. I am on a trip and just needed my clothes washed and folded. They were very nice and were able to do it by the next day. My only issue with them is that they aren't in New York. Unfortunately, they do have a minimum order value of $25, but everywhere offering this service has a similar one. For the ability to not think about laundry while traveling it is definitely worth it. read more

The woman that runs the place has to be the most rude I've ever experienced. (no clue about customer service) I took her a shirt to clean. I had one little instruction. She began speaking over me, acting as if I had insulted her or ruined her day. She wasn't busy at all. You would think she'd be nicer instead of running off business. I left the shirt anyway. Days later I tried picking up. She closes super early on Saturdays. The hours here are not correct. I finally got my shirt and a lot of attitude from the same lady. I won't be back. read more

I was staying at The Grand Hyatt @ Union Square and needed some laundry done before the second leg of my trip. Instead of paying about $70 for the hotel laundry service, I looked for the nearest cleaners. I dropped off some workout clothing and a pair of jeans at 4 PM on Friday and picked them up at 9 AM Saturday, cleaned and folded. $15 ($1.50/lb, @ 10 lb. minimum). They are open Saturdays despite Yelp's info. Highly recommend. read more

OK, so this place appears a little gritty and kinda dirty but the ladies that work at Pete's are friendly and sassy. So I left chapstick in my favorite Army-style coat in the dryer and it got all over. I brought it to Pete's and they got it all out. I also had to shorten up the length of the arms on my suit coat which they did a good job. Getting the chapstick out the coat was $15 and the suit jacket altering was $35. I don't know anything about pricing but is that a lot? But anyways, as far as quality of tailoring and dry cleaning I give it high marks. Thanks Pete's! read more

I have entrusted my laundry and dry cleaning to Pete's Cleaner's since 1994 when I lived above the Stockton tunnel on Bush Street. I've known Tindy since her husband was still alive. She's hardworking, trustworthy, funny and definitely sassy! ;)! I've brought several vintage dresses in for alterations and they're always done perfectly. Great prices, great work done! This place was recommended to me by a friend who grew up here, and has been going to Pete's her whole life. I recently went through all my suits, which I haven't worn in, basically, years (since a previous employer went business casual), and brought the ones I didn't get rid of here, to get them altered so they actually fit me again. I have been coming here for 15 years. I took a pair of trousers to have the zipper exchanged and they charge me almost $20, which is ok. After I tried them on I realized that they put a zipper that gets stuck and did not I am driving now. Text you later the proper sewing finishing so I have loose threats. I went back and the lady said it was my fault because I didn't specify what kind of zipper would I like. I explained to her that Im not an expert and that I didn't know I had options, so she very upset told me that she could exchange the zipper but because it was my fault she would have to charge me again the whole thing. After I declined to do this I asked her if she could accommodate me since I have been a client for 15 years, she said no and left me there at the front desk while she went to hide or avoid me at the back of the shop. I can't believe that after 15 years of business they treat me like that for $20. Im definitely not going back. read more

I used to work at Cole Haan on Stockton, and my co-workers all took their clothes to Tindy for alterations. Once I tried her, I was hooked. Tindy really knows garment construction inside and out. She knows exactly where fit problems originate and how to fix them. I love her because she'll tell me how something "should" be fixed but also give me a cheaper option for a shortcut and leave it up to me to decide. If it's a newer piece that I spent a lot of money on, I can choose the "right" way...if it's a vintage skirt I paid $3 for at Crossroads I might opt for the shortcut. As far as dry cleaning, she always does a great job and my clothes come back smelling clean and fresh, not all chemically like at some other places. Tindy's the best...I highly recommend her. When I was working down the street at the Grand Hyatt Hotel, I would conveniently use Pete's Cleaner, even though I had FREE Dry Cleaning as a hotel perk (Very Scary the chemical used at a hotel Dry Cleaning Dept) Now since we moved to SOMA, I still schlep my clothes to Pete's Cleaner this woman is SOOOO Honest that she actually has told me to take some garments and save the money to wash it myself... Candy is a pleasure to visit with, and spends time discussing different tailoring options for achieving the desired result. She really knows her way around clothing construction, and does a fantastic job with alternations. I am always very happy with the tailoring jobs as well as the dry cleaning. I love Pete's cleaners. My clothes come back looking great and the prices are reasonable. The dry cleaning prices include little fixes: re-attaching the hanging chain on my jacket, tightening a coat button, etc. I've also brought in salvage dresses for repairs that I am far too lazy to do myself, and they come out great. read more
