If you like to feel like or experience a unique dining, go this place. Try to sit in the ground with lots of pillows. With a beautiful decor of Middle Eastern, the huge brass table, relaxing soft pillows, and washing your hands with rose water, you feel like your in the Middle East. The food are delicious. My wife and I have been to Petra House a few times. The food has always been above average but the service has always been a bit below average. I was perusing Groupon a few weeks back and saw they were running a special so I decided to buy one knowing that we would probably head back there at some point over the next month. Here is where they went wrong and caused us to decide that we'll never go back. The Groupon is incredibly unethical and deceptive. After following all directions on there: we called and made a reservation, told them we had a Groupon voucher and alerted them again when we arrived, we received the bill at the end of the meal and were bluntly told we couldn't use the Groupon for our meal. HUH!? Apparently, as a few others have stated, you have to order off the 'traditional menu' which only includes about 6 plate options. We were never told that and thought it meant only that you couldn't order a special dish. No exception was made so we will never return. Seems kind of silly to continue such a deceptive business practice and lose customers over ~$10. That tells me a lot about the owners and the way they do business. read more

They offer traditional dining where you sit close to the floor on some beautiful furniture or regular dining. Because I am pregnant I feared if I went traditional I would had been stuck or unable to get back up so I chose regular dining. They first cleanse your hands with orange blossom water which leaves your hands smelling beautiful and feeling soft. The people were so quick and attentive and portions for food was huge. We had ordered their Sambousak which was so deliciously seasoned and flaky and my husband had a gyro and I got the beef Shawarma. Truly everything was delicious, we ate it so fast that my husband had a mess all over his hands and face that he needed my napkin because he had already dirtied his. Wow! Amazing food, service and a fun experience! You begin with washing your hands in rose water, so yummy smelling. The mezza plate was to die for, you can tell everything is made fresh and in house. Some of the most tender lamb I've ever had and delicious rice. If you don't leave Petra House a few pounds heavier, then you're doing it wrong. This may be the best Mediterranean food in Vancouver, WA and possibly the only memorable Jordanian food in Southwest Washington. Petra's exotic and flavorful feast wafts hints of Lebanese, Egyptian, and Bedouin cuisine that take you and your taste buds on an adventure to the Middle East without the hassle of getting a visa or fearing United Airlines. Also, try to sit at one of the quaint booths with a low metal table and even lower cushions. I'm not sure the casual seating will make the food better, but it will make you more relaxed. After one visit, I can honestly say that every meal at Petra House should start with an order of Arabic Hot Tea served in a cute teapot with crystal cups. Want a cool drink instead of the tea? Then try a sweet Mango Yogurt drink. Hummus and hot fresh-baked Pita Bread is a perfect starter, but there are plenty of other classics on the menu like Baba Ghanouj (eggplant), stuffed Kibbeh, fried Falafel, and tempting Sambousak meat pies. For me, the creamy Garbanzo Bean blend with Lemon Juice and Tahini Sauce was so good I almost filled up on it before the entrees arrived. Mansaf is often considered the national dish of Jordan. The Petra House menu touts it as the most distinctive Jordanian dish. Mansaf also just might be the most addictive thanks to Lamb, Rice and Jameed Sauce made from Yogurt. To round out the meal, we split a char-grilled marinated Lamb Kabob plate loaded with Basmati Rice, more Hummus, another Pita, and Petra Salad. We also tacked on a side order of marinated Chicken Shawarma with Petra Sauce because I was in the mood for it. The shawarma was the only food that didn't wow me, so, I'll probably explore other exotic choices on my next journey to Jordan ... via Petra House in East Vancouver. read more

Great experience. The Petra House is decorated from floor to ceiling with traditional patterns and decor. Even the staff is dressed in traditional garments. You can have the ultimate experience by choosing the traditional floor seating or sit in a booth. After you order food the waitress returns to rinse your fingers with rose water which is also a tradition. All the appetizers looked good so I choose the Mezza Plate which came with plenty of bread (see picture). My favorite was (is always) the tabbouleh. I recommend their kabobs - beef, chicken, and lamb. So delicious! I will definitely come back again! read more

This is my second time at Petra House and was so impressed with my first visit that I had to come back. - You know....quality check and all. ;-) For starters I'm a huge fan of having a complete "dining experience" and Petra House, Jordanian style, delivers with traditional seating options and a fantastic rose water hand washing. The aroma alone sets the stage for your senses to be heightened for the meal headed your way. The 1st time I had the chicken shawarma plate and it was sincerely amazing. It comes with a side of pita bread, tomato and cucumber salad, and the chicken served over rice, drizzled with a flavorful sauce. Man I have to tell you that all of the flavors were on point! You know it's good when you start talking out loud and you're the only one in your party. The chicken was super tender and each item on the plate complemented the next. I then finished my meal with some Turkish coffee and a kunefe. My 2nd time I ordered the lamb shawarma wrap with a salad, instead of fries, and some Arabic tea. The tea with a mint leaf was fantastic on a cool evening. The shawarma itself was pretty good. The pita bread was awesome and the pieces of lamb were juicy and tender! However, I couldn't get over the flavor profile. Perhaps it was the generous lathering of garlic sauce? (Which is good if you like it that much.) Also the wrap had lots of large parts of the heads of lettuce, which made it "crunchier" than usual. My experience overall has been great, including the service, and will be back for sure. Went to Vancouver on business. Was looking for a meal I can't easily get at home. Hadn't had Mediterranean food in a while, so I thought I'd give Petra House a try. I ordered the beef shawarma plate with lentil soup and a side of baklava. The bread, rice, lentil soup, and baklava were delicious! I wasn't expecting the beef to have such a strong vinegar taste. I'm not a big fan of vinegar, so I knocked the score down one star. I'll definitely try something different next time I'm in town, given that everything else is so good. read more

AMAZING!!! We stopped by for lunch while shopping in Vancouver. The place is soo neat inside with traditional and booth seating, colors and artwork everywhere with traditional upbeat music in the background. We ordered the mint lemonade and the Arab Ice tea to drink, the tea was good but the lemonade was something out of this world!!!! For lunch I had the lamb shawarma wrap with tabouli salad, my wife had the chicken shawarma plate with the Petra salad (came with rice) and we got a side of Tatziki. We spent the whole meal oohing and aaahing and other noises of delight and deliciousness. Fresh and flavorful are the keys to this place.
