Delicious. I had the chicken gyro plate. So good. My husband had the beef/lamb gyro plate and it was awesome too. Wow! If you like authentic Greek food come here! We had the hummus, the gyros sandwich, and lamb kebab sandwiches. All tastes very good, fresh and seasoned very well. The service was great, and we enjoyed the great music as well. We will be back. read more

I absolutely love this restaurant. My favorite platter is the Vegetarian which has delicious hummus and baba ganoush. My favorite single item are the falafel nuggets. They are always hot and fresh, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside (not easy to achieve I might add). I also like their Greek Salad. The service is warm and friendly. read more

The meat was so-so, but the Greek salad (fresh and crunchy ) and rice (each grain separate) were were top-notched. Quiet, low-key atmosphere - it's never been crowded all the times I've been there. OT: What's the secret anyways to cooking rice so that the grains come out fluffy and separate? I use a fancy rice cooker and mine usually come out with various clumps. read more

We had lunch today at Petra that was recommended by locals. We shared a salmon plate with rice and vegetables, and a vegetarian combo plate with pita bread. Amazing! This is the best place so far that I need to go back again. I wish I live closer. I loved their Baba ghanoush the best! No one can beat this flavor. You just have to try. read more

We just had dinner there. The kebabs were delicious and full of flavor. The chicken skewers were tender and juicy. The Hummus authentic and fresh. I will be back to try other options on the menu. It is hard to find a Middle Eastern restaurant with authentic flavors, but now I don't have to look anymore, I found it at Petra's. read more

My husband and I stopped by this restaurant today after a long day of walking around shopping. I was looking for some good Greek food and totally found it at Petra. First off, the owner is so nice and very attentive. He took the time to explain the menu and helped us decide on a dish. We got the gyro platter and a side of fries. The platter came with a heap of delicious gyro meat, salad and two warmed pitas. The tzatziki was fabulous, and the owner even brought us more pitas free of charge. This platter was plenty of food for both my husband and I - for just $12! The fries were run of the mill crinkle cut (probably grocery store), but they were fried fresh. We didn't get a chance to try the baklava, but we will next time! We will definitely stop here again! read more

We were looking for good food on a Tuesday evening and found this gem of a place. Clean, quaint and filled with great aromas of food. We ordered the combo plates, each with different meats so we could sample and share. Lots of food and flavor and so very fresh. Total Yum experience and we highly recommend it. read more

This is one of the best Mediterranean restaurants I've ever been to. Not only was the staff friendly and attentive, the food was also top-notch! we ordered the lamb shank entrée and the chicken delight entrée. Both of them were fall off the bone tender and full of delicious flavors I had never tasted before at a Mediterranean restaurant. The chicken came with a creamy curry sauce that really hit the spot. We finished off dinner with some baklava and Turkish ice cream, Both were excellent! Lastly this family owned joint is so adorable, you can tell they make the food with love and the owners and staff are genuinely hard working and kind. Tried this place for the first time in years of coming to Pacific Grove. Interesting twist on their food, not whah I was expecting. 4 people decided to get the "ROYAL FEAST" with chicken & kefta only. Nice that we were able to kind of customize. In the mood for falafel on the Central Coast? Petra's got you covered. There is one other falafel place in the area but this one is hands-down the best. I've been here about half dozen times and it never disapoints. Only once did I stray from the falafel sandwhich . .I think it was a kabob plate. This place is OK. Nothing unique or memorable other than the strong garlic after-taste stuck in my mouth for a few days after eating here. Portions are way too small for the price of the meal. I had fava beans/ful while hubby ordered a vegetarian platter. The service was not that great either considering the fact that we went here an hour before they close and it was not busy at all. We had to ask for water refills. We had to ask for extra pita breads. We had to ask for the check. And the location of the bathroom is terrible. I could hear a little girl throwing up in the bathroom across from where I was sitting down and trying to enjoy my meal. Gross. read more

Excellent food. Extremely friendly staff. Reasonably priced food. The owner of the restaurant can read your fortune in the Turkish coffee grounds. We stopped here on the way to San Jose. We used Yelp and saw it had great reviews and I could not agree more. We went in the middle of an afternoon and it was completely empty. Was a little worried but after we were served, those fears went away. Everyone was very friendly, the prices were reasonable, the decor/cleanliness was good. The food was amazing! Went into Petra's last night to get a quick to - go dinner. The server was so friendly and sweet. We sat down and intended to order and eat there but the place was a little empty so decided to take it to go instead. We ordered one combination plate which was more than adequate for two people to share. We made our own gyros at home and managed to make two full gyros each. The food was fresh and delicious and distinctly homemade. These folks are definitely not stingy with the portions. In addition they gave us a whole package of pita breads with the combo platter, perhaps because we also ordered a side of their yummy hummus. Will be back. read more

We tried this place based on reviews. The food was decent but the restaurant was lacking in any charm or ambiance. Our server was a young woman who was pleasant enough but there was no effort as far as service. No one checked on us to see how everything was. Water glasses not refilled. Paper napkins and plastic table clothes added to the feeling of a place neglected. Dead plant in the corner of the room as well as in the restroom. It certainly didn't feel inviting when we first walked in. I should have taken that as a first sign when the young lady greeting us pointed to a table and said "you can sit there I'd you'd like" without escorting us to the table. I don't know if the girls working were being asked to do too much or what. The food was decent but the lack of ambiance, service, and care took away from any experience. read more

Small spot with great location and very nice view. Clean and well set up. We were seated quickly. Unfortunately, the meat and falafel nuggets were dry (overcooked) and the pita was pitiful (unless you like very thin and dry pita). The workers were all very friendly, but not very attentive (considering it was not busy). We will not return, there are too many fabulous places to eat in the Monterey Bay area. read more

I love this place!! Always great food and friendly staff. I ate here the other day for a late lunch. They were cleaning up the place and making a little noise, no big deal. The staff went way out of their way for any inconvenience they caused by throwing in dessert, coffee and even sending us home with a whole new thing of hummus and pita!
