Got three guppies and two other fishes, one of the guppy died on the way home, one died the day after and the third died two days after. The rest of the fishes are doing well. I've gotten fish several times from petsmart but the first time at this petsmart the guppies I got died one after the other and I've had a lot of guppies before and this never happened. I know you can return within 14 days or something but its super depressing to see fishes die one after another. read more

Samwise, our Maltese mix was a bit matted after I neglected brushing his coat because of our recent move to Pomona. Because of that one of the groomers said she was going to have to take his coat all the way down to his pink skin. I was dreading his potential new look and upset with myself that I didn't put more time into that long fluffy white coat of his. When I picked him up I was thrilled to hear that Jessica worked on him. She saved a lot of his hair and took the extra time to get through the matting - he looked really cute. When I asked to speak to the manager I showed him and he just dusted them on the ground like nothing he didn't care one bit that I saw what he did. Robert is the MAN!! He was at the register making it happen for the (4) customers ahead of me. Several other associates walked by with their head in the clouds not even acknowledging the line of customers. I enjoy coming to Pet Smart with my bf's dog, Zeus, because it's heaven for the little one! Except for the fact that he peed 2x there at our most recent visit (oops!), it's because he smelled urine everywhere!! He's potty trained, I promise! Pet Smart is obviously a little more expensive than buying supplies and food elsewhere, but we don't like to risk purchasing food online. I love coming in to look at dogs getting groomed, or even on adoption days when they have so many cute little dogs up for adoption! Every time we come to buy his food, it is a MUST that we grab some toys for him too! My mom got a $150 gift card from being on the Ellen Show and gave it to my bf for Zeus to use :) It's sad to say we spent it all on one visit. We've never had issues with any of the employees! I really enjoy coming to this Petsmart. It's always very clean (except for the bathroom). I would have given it 5 stars but the bathroom really needs to be remodeled and cleaned better. Otherwise this is a great place. I've never had my dog groomed here so I can't speak for that, but I do shop here often. They have good quality choices of pet food. I had also asked the manager if they sell pet food made in China and the Manager assurred me they do not. I was worried because I have been reading a lot of stories of tainted pet food. The staff is always helpful and knowledgeable. If they don't know the answer they will find someone who does. Lastly, I love that I get coupons both through text and email. I googled it and did some research and found out that PETSMART buys all their rodents from MILLS where they are treated horribly and often develop diseases that shorten their lifespans. I had a very negative experience from the beginning, so much so that I felt the need to respond to the store survey and also reach out to corporate. The store was very disorganized and items were misplaced or out of stock. When I went to check out, I had a Pet Smart reward for $10 that I wanted to use. The cashier was very meek and not knowledgeable on the application of my reward. After going back and forth she approached a manager for assistance. I believe this mans name is Marty. Marty was extremely rude and condescending from the start of our interaction. He seemed unpleasant and uninterested in trying to help me find a solution. When I mentioned that as a non-employee I didn't know what a treats number was, he aggressively stated he had no knowledge either. I find this extremely unprofessional and disheartening, because as an employee his goal should be that customers leave feeling satisfied and cared for. Not only was his attitude problematic, Marty was also NOT following covid-19 preventative shopping methods. The gentleman was sporting his mask under his nose, increasing exposure. He also was extremely close to myself and my family member. I had to verbally ask him to step back and address his attitude. Overall, his aggressiveness was uncalled for and ruined my already bad day. I apologized to the cashier as she had to witness this unpleasant interaction and thanked her for doing her best. I really hope these concerns are addressed, so no customer has to experience what I went through when shopping for a beloved family pet. read more

***This score is generally towards the Grooming Salon. 1 bad experience changed everything. I usually come here for supplies. Everything I need is usually in stock. I've never had a bad experience. I've never had a problem with customer service. In this specific encounter, I scheduled my pup for a bath... nothing crazy. Upon drop-off, my dog was inspected and I was told due to a quarter-size hairless "spot" on her paw, she was unable to have any services done at this location. UNLESS, I knew what the problem was and if it was not contagious. Which, on my end, is completely understandable. I did have my Vet perform a skin test/scraping done on the questionable site 1 month prior to this PetSmart rejection. But I forgot the specifics on my dog's medical condition. So I left the grooming salon and made it out to my car. I called my Vet for the answers. My pup has Demodectic Mange. Sometimes called Demodex. It is NOT contagious. It is NOT contagious to other dogs or humans. So once I had all the answers, as they asked, I went back inside so I could explain to the grooming salon my dog's condition. At this time it was already 30-40min past my appointment, so I assumed they wouldn't be able to bathe my pup. I was simply coming in so they can put it in the books or system that my dog had non-contagious mange, and possibly schedule a new appointment. This is where my frustration grew. The office called in a manager. The manager called in another manager. I was now faced with a handful of employees, and they explained "We can not take your dog..." This began to make me upset because they told me to figure out exactly what condition my dog has, and if it was not contagious, then they could groom her. I explained not only had she been to this exact location before, but she had also been to other PetSmart locations. I have never had this problem. The manager(s) continued to explain, "That's THIS store's policy. I'm not sure about our other locations. Once the site is healed we could take her in and we'll give you a $10 discount..." But again, my dog has been to this location before and other PetSmart locations. I do not understand why they will no longer take my dog. ***In short, they will not take my dog for grooming services, even after I proved with medical tests, her small skin condition is not contagious. read more

Don't go to their grooming service. I went there for a cat grooming because it was the only PetSmart offered cats grooming. The website says it has curbside service but when I went there I was told I need to carry my cat into the store. At the salon the groomer said they can't put my cat into his carrier so she was clutching my cat under her arm like a purse all time during check in. I can tell my cat feel really uncomfortable with that position. The groomer told me I need to pick her up in 1 1/2 hour @12:30 because they don't have a cage for my cat. Then at the time to pick up my cat, my cat was not ready yet. The groomer came and showed me my cat with all uneven hair. She told me if I want she can make it even. I told her of course I want it even because it was ugly. I even showed her a style I want for my cat before the grooming started and it's not even close. My cat is a long haired rag doll and now he has some long hair and mostly no hair over his body. Then they gave me a bill of $96 grooming. I said it's not the price for cat grooming service on your website. Then she told me I need to pay by hour 120min is $96 for cats grooming. It's the most expensive I ever paid for a cats grooming service. Before I paid $75 maximum at cats grooming salon for including removal of matted hair. And now my cat looks so insecure with unevenly shaved hair and a little chipped skin. Pet smart groomer just shave all his hair off without a haircut style and charge me$ 96! Maybe I can do a better job then their groomer! It's a waste of money and time at PetSmart. read more

I usually take my Shihpoo, Selphie, to get groomed at this Petsmart. Their customer service is pretty good and I'm usually really satisfied with the work they do on her (this is a plus, considering I'm very picky). The last time I took her to get groomed, though, I was left with a sour taste in my mouth. They left her hair butchered and ridiculous. The groomer was named Jamie. She had been my original groomer since I started taking her there and did a magnificent job the first few times I took her. The last time, however, was enough to never let that groomer touch my dog. Selphie's hair was shaved unevenly. It looked choppy and poorly done. Her ears were uneven. They were very obviously lopsided (her left was much longer than her right). Her legs were shaven poorly as well, tufts of fur sticking out at random parts of her legs. Her jaw area was also uneven -- one side of her face was longer than the other. I was horrified! It wasn't until I saw her backside that I flipped out. She had shaven my poor dog's bum down to the skin and left the remaining area longer -- so Selphie looked like some kind of baboon! I was mortified! Completely unsatisfied, I brought her back in to get fixed. The manager, Carmen, fixed her quickly and made a note of Jamie's horrific work. To top it? I saw Jamie in the back, and when they went towards the front of the grooming salon and saw me... she quickly hid in the back! It was obvious she knew what kind of work she had done and didn't want to show her face! Carmen, the salon manager, is excellent however and pays very close attention to detail. She knows and understands how selective I am with how my dog looks and she does a marvelous job everytime. If you plan to take your dog to get groomed (especially if your dog has poodle type hair) -- I would highly recommend Carmen. DO NOT leave your dog with Jamie - she will butcher them! read more

This is for the grooming service only. I called in the morning to see if there was any available slots to take my Maltese there to get bathe and groomed. The lady told me I could bring him in right now. So I grabbed his vaccine records and headed over there. As I entered the store no one greeted me. I headed into the grooming area and there was a young lady there and I told her I just called 10 minutes ago and was told I could come in. She turned around and got another associate there. She didn't even tell me to wait or hold on. Okay... So then the other associate came up and we got set up. Everything was fine until she told me that she would have to charge a little extra because he was a little bigger. He's not that big and he's not a poodle. So she charged him as a poodle instead of a maltese. It makes me think what if he's just overweight, would you charge a person more just because they were bigger? She also told me it would cost extra to use an oatmeal shampoo. Okay, whatever but for an additional $7 for 1 wash? I understand it's not just a basic shampoo, but I could have been a little cheaper. One last thing, they keep referring my dog as a girl. He is not a girl, he is a boy. I told the lady on the phone that, when I first walked in, and when I was given back my dog. Overall 4 stars. I came here to get a few things for our new puppy and I brought our lab with me (she loves car rides and all the attention she gets). Service here was great and several associates greeted me and asked if I needed help while I was there, which was nice. They also loved the pup and gave her lots of love. They have a large variety and good quality products for any critter you own. Right now they are having a holiday sale, with different deals every day. Customer service when trying to adopt a hamster was horrible. It took almost 30 minutes to get someone to come help us and what we wanted to make exciting for my son turned out to be dull. The lady was very short and seemed irritated when we were picking which hamster we wanted. Like if we were taking up too much of her time. After taking our sons new pet home she died the next day. Luckily PetSmart has a 14 day guarantee so we brought her back. We thought maybe she was depressed so decided to get two dwarf hamsters this time and it's only been 6 days and we lost one already. After doing my research I read that the issue could be the breeder. We are hoping our last one survives if not we are getting our money back and going elsewhere. For me, the location of this Petsmart is close to home and it offers the same selection you'll find at every other Petsmart - it's a huge store! I can always find exactly what I need and the staff know just about everything there is to know about their products, including their foods! This always helpful when you have an animal that has trouble digesting their food or simply won't eat certain products. The last time I went into this store, I was given a complete understanding of the natural food product offerings that are better for animals and easier on their stomachs.
