We had an unexpected death in the family and needed to travel to Chicago, unfortunately Marlie is also do for her vax. The hotel said, she must be current on rabies. Called Petvax earlier today and scheduled an appointment for rabies and tag, only. Had several openings this afternoon ,great. Marlie and I show up for rabies and tag. Since, the price wasnt mentioned in the reservation call, I asked before I filled out any paperwork. For rabies I was told 120plus dollars. Excuse me, for 1 vaccine. Then, the receptionist started explaining she must be seen by the vet and get apparently a full checkup. I dont know, but the way everything was going, I just canceled. I will wait n go to her normal vet. They didnt have any openings, is how I ended up here. But the receptionist was nice, pleasant attitude. read more

Please do not come here. My dog was acting different and she wasn't eating her food so my mother took her to this pet bags at the appointment. The doctor said it was an ear infection and gave us medication to give her but one day we came back to see Ellie was sitting in a puddle of blood poop looking stuff so we take her immediately to an animal hospital and they tell us that she has sepsis and something else I don't remember but it's in the uterus. I'm very upset that they we're not able to detect this my dog had to get put down now pets vax do better read more

BEWARE!!! PetVax is a joke! HORRIBLE! They wanted 423$ just to look at a spay suture gone wrong from MAS. I called for antibiotics this morning because my cat (a regular patient of theirs and they know her well and just saw her in April) they refused to prescribe her meds and again wanted another 423$ just to look at a cat bite! I NEEDED ANTIBITOTICS NOT A BANK BREAKING BILL!! Kelley said 3x the doctor would be in contact with me and I waited around ALL DAY LONG and never heard back! THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR CLIENTS OR PATIENTS! THEY ONLY WANT YOUR MONEY AND ARE INSANELY OVER PRICED!! A perfect example of a HEARTLESS, SOULLESS, CORPORATE OWNED VET!!!! I am appalled!! PetVax is expensive and their customer service is poor. We do TNR for cats in our area and we took a stray male cat (non-feral) to have it neutered. We asked for a discount since SpayMemphis, where we normally take the cats we trap, was closed. Friendly front desk person took the cat and all the appropriate information. Assured me that I would be called after the cat had surgery to inform me what time to pick up the cat. She said the pickup time would be between 3:30 and 4 at the latest. "You will be called," she assured me. At 3 PM I had not been called. So I called PetVax and asked if the cat was ready. "Oh yes," he is ready. I really dislike businesses that promise a level of service and do not deliver. The service was expensive ($330+) and the service was poor. Will not use PetVax ever again. There are better veternarian clinics around town - choose them! read more

My four year old German shepherd dog was feeling fatigued and not eating. 08/11/22 I took him here because this is where I always have gone. Not anymore. They ran blood tests and a urinalysis and an IV treatment. $800 later they gave me meds to take home. He felt worse as time went on. I think it's from all the vaccines they gave him knowing he wasn't good in the first place. On 08/14/2022 I took him to Summer Ave Animal ER. He was diagnosed with severe renal failure. Toxins in his blood levels were sky high. I ended up having to put my baby down that night unexpectedly. I will NEVER forgive this place for not going the extra mile and giving me the meds to take home on top of giving me false hope that he was okay after spending almost $1000. I was out an additional 1500 after euthanasia fees and cremation fees from the ER and most importantly without my good boy. Do better.. read more

I took my fully vaccinated puppy there and asked for the bordetlla shot ONLY. I even said that when making appointment... she is fully vaccinated by them and it is in her record there. Well, she got a full round of vaccine shots! She had had them a couple of weeks earlier! She threw up and was lethargic after getting home. The fact that you can't go back with your animal is part of the problem. A tech did the shot I was told. A tech does all the vaccine shots unsupervised by vet. No thank you anymore! I hate leaving bad reviews, I know people work hard and have bad days but I have to write this due to the pain and suffering that this has caused my dog and therefore, me. My five year old Great Dane has never had any health issues. I took him to PetVax East for a full body exam, a nail trim, and an anal gland expression. He was inside the vet for 4 minutes total. All of those services were to have been completed thoroughly in 4 minutes. They brought him back out and I was confused why they didn't give me any information on his health they only told me his current weight. I went ahead and paid the $100 bill and left cutting my losses thinking that he was healthy to their knowledge and that's all that mattered. My family thought it was strange tho so I called back and they apologized saying no news is better than bad news. A couple days later I realized there was blood secreting from his anal glands and that he was yelping every time he licked his butt. Called PetVax East and was out on hold 3 times. Emailed PetVax East and did not get a reply. I considered taking him somewhere else but thought I should atleast try and give them a chance to fix their mistake. They told me they had no idea why or how he could have been examined in 4 minutes and that I wouldn't be charged so I went back and they sent Dr. Lynn Svoboda out to talk to me where she said Great Danes often get anal gland infections and I paid for another $60 of medicine thinking my dog would be okay again. He didn't get better at all, he only got worse. I couldn't bear taking him back to PetVax East for the 3rd time when they were not concerned at all. I took him to the pet hospital where they said his right anal gland had been ruptured from excessive force. Many dollars later my dog is still not back to normal but on his way to getting better. I hate having to leave this review but with such a renown company such as PetVax I expected more care and concern. read more

I have been taking my two dogs and two cats to PetVax for years and have literally spent THOUSANDS of dollars there. Although I have had mostly positive experiences with the doctors themselves, last night I could not believe my experience. My 18-year-old cat was acting extremely lethargic and dehydrated. It was Friday and I wasn't able to see her until after work at 4:45pm and immediately rushed her to PetVax (as they are open until 6pm). Without any kind of greeting the receptionist told me they didn't take walk-ins after 5. It was 5:05. (I have NEVER made an appointment at PetVax and as far as I knew, they did not take appointments for a situation like this). I BEGGED them to just look at her and tell me if it was an emergency because I cannot afford the emergency vet hospital. They refused. I went to The Pets Hospital at 5:30 (they also close at 6) and they helped me immediately. The receptionist there even said she was surprised PetVax wouldn't see my poor cat. After how much money I have spent at PetVax, I am EXTREMELY disappointed in their negligence and their blatant attitude of wanting to leave early on a Friday evening. read more

I've been using this vet for a while now, and while they are basically OK for shots etc., today is the second time they made a significant error with my pet. When I called about it they at first tried to make it sound like I would need to pay again for a service I just had performed a few months ago, after some back and forth we agreed it was an error on their part and they were going to approve my Chewy order as they should have in the first place. The problem I really have is that while anyone can make an error a business should simply say, "yes I see and I'm sorry that happened." It's standard customer service to apologize to the customer when you make a mistake with their account. Pet vax never does this. A friend called them the Walmart version of vet medicine and she's not wrong. read more

I took my dog here (instead of to my regular PetVax in Bartlett -- because this one is logistically MUCH closer) to get stitches removed from her paw & leg after an accident. After much struggling in which I had to hold my dog down for the stitch removal, the doctor declared it "all done". I left the exam room & noticed my dog still had several stitches, so I returned. I clearly indicated to the doctor where the stitches were & how many I saw, and they took her to the back where there was "better lighting", no apologies. Again, they declared it "all done". They gave me no recovery advice & no comments on the status of her swelling. Several days later, I noticed the stitches (the ones I had pointed out) were still in. I took her to my regular PetVax in Bartlett. I will NOT be visiting this one again. read more
