It's edible but meh. I just hyped myself up. Read yelp reviews, saw posts on IG, so I HAD to try it, I was sooo excited. But, with all due respect, it's nothing special, actually it's not good at all. Coffee is blah, had a sour/very acidic flavor. And omg the breakfast burritos...soooo very disappointing. I mean, thought they were known for their breakfast burritos?! I expected something different but nope, store bought frozen hash brown patties, scrambled eggs, salsa...I mean nothing out of the ordinary. No "special" flavor that makes you say "I can only get this at Phanny's". Any hole in the wall breakfast place serves breakfast burritos and it's the same, if not better. Nate's Korner in OC on the other hand IS the place for breakfast burritos, must try. Even Rod's Charbroiler in Redondo has wayyyy better breakfast burritos and coffee wayyy cheaper too! Came here for the first time because a friend raved about it (idk how I've never been here?) and it totally did not disappoint. The breakfast burritos are super good and not outrageously big. Salsa has a kick so get it on the side if you're not into spice. But the thing that really sold me, was the lavender latte! I mean...they are ridiculous. Not so hot that you can't drink them (thank you for not burning my taste buds), and just so damn good. Gotta love their cute stamped yeezy-like cups and leaf foam design...that was the icing on a delicious cake. Craving the lattes alone. Will definitely be back. Probably too often. Ha! read more

I had Phanny's on my mind (and Yelp bookmark list) for awhile and finally got around to trying this place. I came at 8-9AM on a Saturday and was greeted by a small line, which I took as a good sign. I ordered a soy chorizo breakfast burrito and added avocado, bringing the grand total to $9 and some change. CASH ONLY, but if you forget to bring cash, Phanny's got you covered! They conveniently have an ATM inside the store, so you can withdraw cash while you wait in line. The soy chorizo, paired with the crispy hash browns (my fave!), salsa, eggs, and cheese, made this an amazing breakfast burrito. It had a hint of spice to it, which was either from the soy chorizo or salsa. I have a low spice tolerance, so while I thought it was a little hot, others would probably disagree. Nonetheless, this was a solid breakfast burrito. Final verdict: I would definitely come back for Phanny's breakfast burritos if I'm ever in the area (it's a little far from the nearby freeways). read more

So, today was my first time eating at Phanny's. When I arrived I was a little disappointed that they didn't take card. My first thoughts was damn another place that chooses not to evolve as a company their food is about to be nasty. To my surprise it was a great breakfast burrito that I will have again. Update: I visited again, a little over a week ago, after a very long sabbatical from certain places. I finally made it back and was not disappointed. I was welcomed to the same wonderful service, same wonderful breakfast burritos and the same incredible coffee. Luckily it was later in the day. Hardly any patrons there. A bacon and sausage breakfast burrito was my go to, and my companion opted for the veggie version. I got my usual iced root beer latte and her a cappuccino. I was delighted as usual. All the components of the burrito intertwined to make my tastebuds and crunch senses come alive. Easy five stars. My companion, not very keen on breakfast burritos (she's Mexican), thoroughly enjoyed her veggie burrito as well... to the extent that she couldn't believe how good it was. Is it just me or is this place super overhyped? Waited in line for a long time ordered a carne asada burrito and I do not get it. The burrito was super bland and dry. I do not understand why people think this place is so goood. Any breakfast burrito from a diner style place like Steve's in the south bay is comparable if not better. The burritos are the best I've ever had. They are perfectly cooked. Perfectly wrapped. They are just... perfect. Celebs come here, early close and always busy are clear indicators that this place is legit. I usually come in mornings for a hangover cure. They only have Tapatio which is disappointing. They should think about concocting their own signature salsa which would boost their sales. Needless, ppl come in flocks even though they don't have salsa. read more

Still good, but I've got to dock a star- hubby commented recently that Phanny's changed the way they make their burritos. I don't care nearly as much as he does about how breakfast burritos are out together, but I had one last weekend and he was right- they used to chop everything up and have it mixed together, but now it's just big slabs of everything. Stopped by for a breakfast burrito. I ordered the soy chorizo to go and took it to the beach, which is just a few blocks away from the restaurant. That beach is awesome by the way! Much cleaner than the more frequently visited beaches of LA. The burrito was a decent size, my only wish is that they put a bit more soy chorizo. I didn't get soy chorizo with every bite. I've been meaning to check this eatery out for a while now since I've read they have a great breakfast burrito and it's so close to my home. Ir's a small mom and pop place on busy PCH near Riviera Village in south Redondo Beach. There's a very small, no frills or decor dining area and they seem to be frequented by a lot of locals as I saw many walking in looking like they had just gotten out of bed. It appeared they had called in their order as they waltzed in and out again with their orders. I ordered a two item burrito for $6.60 selecting ham and bacon as my choice out of the choices of bacon, ham and sausage. The burrito comes with scrambled eggs, cheddar cheese, and potatoes. The lady who took my order at the counter, delivered it to my table on a tray without a word or smile. The burrito was not as big as I was expecting for the price I paid but it was pretty decent tasting actually. I wish they had a little bit more bacon and ham but other than that, it was okay. It helped to douse it with some of the hot sauce that they offer. They accept cash only and have an ATM machine in case you didn't realize that. I wouldn't really go out of my way to come back but it's good to have a local place like this where you can get this kind of fare. If I'm in the mood for a breakfast burrito, I could probably stop by again sometime but truthfully, it may be a while. read more

I'm shocked that this place has such great reviews. When I moved to a block of this place, this was the VERY FIRST restaurant I wanted to check out because I LOVE BURRITOS, and based on my newfound gut, BURRITOS LOVE ME TOO!! Unfortunately, this place was awful. I ordered the breakfast burrito, as did my brother, who was visiting from NYC, where he goes to college. This kid isn't picky as he eats dorm food day in and day out. We both felt the same about the breakfast burrito here. Just bad. No flavor at all. Also, we both had stomach problems later. I was just in Tijuana for 4 days, and had no stomach problems, but this place gave me stomach problems. The burrito won't be t he biggest, but it will be the one that you take a bite into and have no regrets 15 minutes later. Deliciously moist, warm, and healthy. BTW, no skimp on the meat either. If you're in OC and want similar breakfast goods, I recommend Georges in Fullerton. It's cheaper, bigger portion, and delish. We got the breakfast burrito, fries, and coffee. Our total was close to $20. At Georges, you'll get bigger portion with the quality for about $11 give or take. Minus 2 stars for small portions and being overpriced. This place is a tiny little spot located about two blocks away from the beach. The parking lot has ample parking but it does get packed during the usual meal times. The seating inside is smaller than average so if you come when it's busy you can't beat taking your food to the beach. When I went at breakfast I even saw a guy bring his own folding chairs to eat outside on the sidewalk grass area. The service is fast and friendly. I ordered the three meat (sausage, bacon, and ham) breakfast burrito with no salsa. The burrito cost about $8 and I added $1 to add avocado. Each bite of the burrito was packed with flavor. The salsa would had added a kick but I was afraid the salsa would include cilantro which it did not. Sorry there's no pictures but the burrito was so good I forgot to take a picture. Was looking for a dog friendly restaurant in the area for lunch, put "dog friendly restaurants" into yelp and Phanny's popped up. This is definitely not a dog friendly restaurant. No outdoor seating, a few tables inside, very little parking in the rear. I was able to find some parking in a shade area so I could leave the dogs in the car with the windows down while we ate. I did not find this place to be very friendly, the owner seemed to be money miser, napkins were accounted for, he got upset when we asked for another straw after the one my daughter had was broken. My other daughter is mentally disabled and made somewhat of a mess as she was eating, however, we picked it up but he still seemed upset over the mess. The food itself was overpriced and not very good, The hamburgers were nothing special just frozen patties, for the price, you think they would make their own patties. I had the pastrami, which was very salted and a small portion. I know I won't be going back, I definitely will not be going back. read more
