Stoped here for lunch after an amazing UTV ride tour. Walked in and greeted the hostess twice, she did not respond. I stepped out and walked back I'm and finally she acknowledged me, order out lunch to go. Got back to the hotel and realized we were provided no utensils, no wet wipes- for a BBQ joint. Pulled pork was ok, ribs were ok. Potato salad Terrible- The potatoes were not cooked and it was super watery. The Mac and Cheese a joke. Who uses shells for Mac and Cheese? The good news is we won't be back.

Phat BBQ, you are Smok'n'hot! HUNTER love your personal attention that you gave us. It's always fun finding a new place to go and on top of that we were treated so good. Love the burnt ends, the french fries were nice and crisp and hot and the beans were excellent. I WOULD RECOMMEND

Overall a 2. I really wanted to love this place moving het from KC 5 years ago. Sorry fellow KC folk... this place won't scratch that KC BBQ itch. Food - 2.5 for PHX BBQ ... in KC a 1 (as you're comparing it to the standards of the world - Jack Stack, Joes, Gates, JC etc). Service - 4. Considering there was literally 2 people working (1 cook, 1 bar tender/server) for a Sat afternoon - service was acceptable! Ambience 2 - A run down beer joint/pool hall. This doesn't matter if the foods good so I don't weight it very high for the overall score of 2 (for BBQ joints. I call it the KC Joe's BBQ rule (best Que in KC is in a gas station). Food Brisket -2. Some cubes were dry.. like eating a dry cracker. Other cubes were not dry but chewy. Can't wait to hit Jack Stack next month in KC to properly apologize to my taste buds. Perhaps this was cooked/reheated? Not sure. It was NOT terrible... so worth trying as you may think it is better than me. Im just used to real KC BBQ. Chicken Salad (wife rating: 2). Salad leaves were slimy. Wife didnt like the chicken as there was some bones in it. Perhaps chopped up and a few bones. This was no big deal but my wife had 1/4 of here slimly salad leimoves to the side. It appears the place doesn't do enough business to keep food fresh (manage food turnover).

I am a KC native, so any chance I have to try an authentic KC BBQ restaurant I will take it. We got lucky to get an outside table as we showed up with our dogs and it was too hot to let them hang out in the car. Fortunately both our server and the owner were friendly with the pups. And the owner came by our table and talked KC BBQ with us for a few minutes, which was very nice. Being from KC, burnt ends are always my go to, but my husband beat me to them and ordered them. I wanted to try some other things so I got the ribs and sliced brisket combo. I really appreciate that they let you mix and match anything (for an appropriate charge). While the sliced brisket was really good, and had a nice bark to it, the ribs didn't rock my world. They were good, and if ribs are your preferred item then definitely give them a try. They were tender and fell of the bone with just a push from my fork. But the stand out by far was the burnt ends. I will be getting those on my next visit. To do them right, it takes extra time and effort and that's what they do here. The sides were good. The sweet potato fries were my favorite, and my husband said that the onion rings were really good as well. He liked the beans and I liked the fries too. Neither of us found the perfect sauce. The "hot" isn't really hot, so don't be afraid to give it a try. I mixed all 3 and came up with a good mixture, but that was mostly to dip my fries because well seasoned and properly smoked meat doesn't need any sauce in my opinion.

Short Story - Average with inconsistency K.C. Style BBQ restaurant with below average service. Longer story- Phat Turle BBQ îs a small independently owned Kansas City Style BBQ Restaurant located in Cave Creek. It looks the way BBQ places should look and even more importantly SMELLS the way good BBQ places smell like delicious BBQ. I thought our server seemed really sweet and nice. I ordered a 2 meat plate. After I ordered she came back and said they were out of chicken today so I picked something else. My husband already ordered a Phat Sampler (burnt ends, pulled pork, brisket, b.b.ribs, chopped chicken, sausage with onion rings and one side).......She didn't say anything to my husband who was exspection his Phat Sampler with chicken......We thought maybe they only had a little bit of chicken left???????? The food gets served and My husbands plate didn't have chicken and also didn't have any sausage. They didn't even bother to MENTION TO MY HUSBAND THAT THEY WERE OUT OF THE CHICKEN AND SAUSAGE FOR THE PHAT SAMPLER. He told her that he was upset because he would have ordered a two plate meat if he knew that he wasn't getting two of the meats. Anyways- some things were better than other things. Maybe the best things were the side salad and the onion rings. The least favorite things were the chopped brisket (like dried up brisket they scrape off the cutting board and throw in the beans) and the Mac-n-cheese that was like thin white sauce missing the cheese. We didn't think either burnt end was right. On my plate the burnt ends were extra succulent and on my husband's plate they were chewy and dried up. Average - with below average customer service.

The worst bbq I have ever had! Mac and cheese were more like a creamy soup. Don't go ! Service wasn't the best either .

Dry, dry dry... It was definitely not cooked the day it was served and it had been reheated til it was leather.

I have to preface this review by saying the only redeeming part of our dining experience was how polite our server was (she was quite young - high school age perhaps?). As much as I wanted to complain about the food there and then, I just didn't have the heart to hurt her feelings. We got there around 7:21pm on a Saturday night - which I would say is prime time dinner hour. We were told by the hostess, "We're behind on cleaning tables but please find one and get seated"... Which we did. Not a single open table was bussed...so we picked the least dirty booth. It took about 20 minutes to get our order in- we ordered an appetizer sampler (mostly fried items) and I ordered a two meat plate with brisket and burnt ends. Partner ordered a full rack or ribs. It took another half hour to get our food. The fried stuff was... Satisfactory. Some good, some underwhelming. The meats in our main entrees were absolutely awful. I don't believe they were even cooked that day - the brisket was like leather and zero juiciness to it. Same could be said for the burnt ends and ribs. I think I've had better meats from the frozen prepared section of Costco. We did not feel it was worth the $85 pre-tip total of the meal - it would have been disappointing at half that price. Needless to say, we would NOT recommend this place for food, but perhaps the attached pool hall would not be so bad.

I had the brisket and pulled pork plate (I also wanted to try the ribs and sausage, but they were already sold out!). That gives you an idea of how popular they are. They also have outdoor seating with fans and mist to cool you off. I took my order back to the hotel. Let me tell you, the food is phenomenal. That brisket was so moist and perfectly seasoned...gosh it was so good! The pulled pork was fantastic as well. The potato salad was great and definitely made on-site, not from a bag. The brisket & pork ribs were melt in your mouth tender! No knife required. The chopped brisket was moist and perfectly sauced, served on a delicious potato bun. The staff were all very friendly. This is definitely not a place to sit at if you don't have to. Very small inside and not much to look at. Now, weather permitting sitting outside and admiring their smoker might be a good option. Ordered the turkey and jalapeno sausage with a side of bbq beans. Has a selection of six different bbq sauces at the table. I wasn't too impressed with any of them. There is a mustard sauce up by the drinks that was pretty tasty tho. The turkey was dry. The sausage had decent spices but the skin was a little tough. Neither had a bbq/smoky taste. People come here for the meats: brisket, ribs, pulled pork, BUT!!! Have you had this GREEN CHILE BURRITO?! I beg you to try it if you have not... most people don't know they even have it, but luckily, for my coworker and I, Director of Operations Matt, walked up to us as we dined in last Wednesday and let us sample the Green Chile. As most of you know, I can't hang when it comes to spicy foods, but this chile is THE EXCEPTION (even though it's only "mildly" spicy). We each ordered the 2 meat plate, but we were so appreciative of the sample he gave us, otherwise we would never have known about it. We ended up ordering 2 burritos for our lunch the very next day!! You can also add cheese to it! I went in again for the 3rd day in a row on Friday, since I'm not sure when I'll work in that area again (I was 10 min away all last week)!! I asked my boss if I could work there on Mondays and Fridays, that's how good this burrito is!! They also have a MEAN Pecan Pie. It's called Bekke's Smoked Pecan Pie and it too, is a must try item! Matt told us it's a secret recipe from one of their employees and the crusts are hand pressed daily. Using a machine is just NOT the same, and I believe it! Since I am not sure when I'll make my way back there, I also bought another pie on Friday. So far, I've only had 1 slice because I need to ration accordingly! Prior to my 3 visits last week, I went to this location last July, when a friend was visiting from out of town. The place is clean and welcoming, and they have the best customer service! On Thursday and Friday when I ordered online and picked up, my orders were ready before the estimated pick up time! Mark was at the pick up window both times and he rocks!! I had forgotten to ask for the Banana Pudding I ordered on Wednesday when we dined in. I called as I drove home, realizing I left without it. Amanda was super friendly when she answered the phone and assured me I would have it when I came the next day. Mark delivered and had it in my bag the next day when I picked up our burritos. Service with a smile is what you'll get here! You cannot go wrong no matter what you order here! The meats are absolutely perfect and the flavor profile on everything is mind-blowing! Do yourself a favor and ask for the Green Chile anything next time you're here. Tell them I sent you! Don't sleep on the Banana Pudding or Bekke's Smoked Pecan Pie, either. Something about that smoking process makes the pie stand out from every other pecan pie you've ever tasted, trust me. It's also NOT super sweet like you're probably used to. If you call in, you can't place an order by phone, so do it online and you'll get a text with an estimated time of pick up. You can skip the line inside, too. Just walk up to the pick up window and you're good to go when you ring the little doorbell. There is plenty of parking outside and they even have a large patio space should you choose to dine outside. Thank you, Matt, Mark, Amanda and the rest of the crew at Little Miss BBS Sunnyslope for such a pleasant experience every single time!! I will be back for sure! I can grab as much white bread as I want, refill my own drink, never have to flag someone down for napkins, and I've had some great conversations with other patrons. The brisket is consistently good, and I always order it moist. The jalapeño cheddar sausage is another favorite, but the baked beans deserve their own mention. They're loaded with bits of shredded pork that add both texture and smoky flavor, making them one of the better barbecue sides around. Rudy's is one of those chains that doesn't feel like a chain. The focus is on the meat, and it shows. It delivers the consistency you'd expect from a larger operation while still feeling like a neighborhood barbecue joint. That's not an easy balance to strike, but Rudy's pulls it off.

Place was very clean and everyone was very nice. We got up to the counter and the guys actually helped make the meal better by suggesting something a little different than I was thinking. I ended up with the 2 meat baked potato. Very good food. Will be back again.

My husband took me to this restaurant after having tried it one time while visiting in Arizona. I…read morecould understand why he wanted me to try the food. It was exceptionally delicious. This what we ordered: Brisket Hot links Pork Belly Pork Ribs BBQ Beans Collard Greens BBQ Spaghetti Hot Water Cornbread Cedar Lane Lemonade Everything was flavored nicely. If I had to omit one item from our order it would be the beans. My favorite was the BBQ Spaghetti, collard greens and the Hot water cornbread. I thought the beans would have a bit more flavor, but I've never been a bean kind of gal. You will need to try it for yourself! The Hot water Cornbread was great. The texture was a little gritty, but still yummy. The shape is what caught me by surprise. It was round and flat almost like a pancake. The service was outstanding. Friendly and hardworking. The food came out in good time. There is plenty of seating inside and outside. Has a warm but rustic vibe. I would most definitely revisit this spot whenever in the area.

The whites stayed north because local industry made real estate in the southside less desirable. Slaughterhouses and rendering factories gave south Phoenix a black cowboy population. Sure, there are cowboy groups in California - West Oakland and Compton - but these guys are all LARPing. That is, they're playing the part. Weekend warriors. The afro-vaqueros of Phoenix are dyed in the wool, real deal westerners. So anyway, it's in this milleu you find AT JL BBQ. Alongside said cowpoke, you may, as I did, dine next to a couple 304s. It's an active neighborhood, what can you say? Neither here nor there, but the ephemera that adorns the walls is different than what you might find at a soul food place. It's decidedly more American as such. Speaking of the signage: one of them reminds you that bbq is not fast food and that a patient temperament is of the utmost. Yet, the smoker ain't going. The Cue been cooked. As for the sides, no one does greens and Mac n cheese a la minute. So if everything is prepared, why do I have to wait? I kid. I jest. The girl behind the counter was all by herself. Gave great recommendations. And even gifted me a bottle of water On this visit, brisket was sold out. Late afternoon: makes sense. They had pulled pork. Bites of the smokerd rendered fat therein had the effect of rocket fuel. Pork belly was even porkier than the aforementioned shredded butt. Ribs pretty good too. Mac: ultra cheesy. Pot liquor from the collard greens came in clutch for hydrating the more dry pieces of pork.
