I have lived in and around the Atlanta area since Philly Connection started. It used to be the absolute best when it came to making a quality cheesesteak. The other day, my wife, and 12 year old came in to each lunch. The quality was absolutely DRECK!!!! That's a nice word for it. VERY NICE!!! The meat was tasteless, and not seasoned at all. The bread was hardly toasted or warm. The amount of meat on this sandwich (and I got the LARGE) was what you would expect on a small. The meat to bread ratio was ridiculous! Health Hazard Alert...first time I've ever sent food back and asked for a refund. Bathroom was disgusting when I went to wash up after ordering with feces and urine stains everywhere. While sitting and eating I noticed several roaches walking around the dining area floor wall and my table. I lost count but almost 10 in the middle of the day. The Philly had some the plastic wrapper chopped up and cooked with the meat that I'd didn't notice until a couple bites in and had to send back. I was too grossed out to ask for a remake. How dare you. How dare you give the Philly Connection anything but 5 stars. You're critiquing the Subway of Philly sandwiches. It should be treated as such. This is a chain that makes tasty sandwiches. What else are you comparing it to? Rising roll? Jersey Mike's? American Deli? Smokes them all. So. Five Stars. My husband and I realized recently that we both looooved Philly Connection in high school. Was it as good as we remembered? Only an adventure to one of the last remaining Philly Connections near the city of Atlanta could answer this burning question. And answered it was. Yes. Philly Connection (if you were a patron in the past do go visit and I promise you won't be disappointed) is just as good as you remember. Why is it good? Melty probably processed permanently in oozy form cheese (check). Tons of meat on your sandwich with onions and mushrooms grilled to maximum hot and toasty perfection (check). This bread that shouldn't exist as it does and is almost like pretzel bread? It's somewhat thump-tastic (you get it - like how you can pat the top of a hard roll and get some thud/resistance), has a bit of a maybe egg wash on it for bageliscious sheen effect, and the inside is fluffy and wonderful not unlike a yeast dinner roll. It's important you put some hot sauce on it. You're welcome. We live downtown near Woody's cheesesteaks, and I'm sorry Woody. You are delicious, lovely, tasty, one of a kind, so special, and we will be patrons for years to come. But we both agree: Philly Connection for it's bread, cheesiness, fluffiness, size and crushable-ness (you need 2) would be the winner of the cheesesteak competition. Very shady business. Check your receipt. Tried to charge a $5.5 upcharge on a combo when it should have been $3.35. When I confronted them on this it was clear that they knew what they were doing when they did it. Edit: forgot to mention that this place is filthy. It was what I expected after reading the reviews. I walked in and the TV was so loud, the young man I ordered with could barely hear me speaking. Which is probably why I still had peppers on my cheesesteak after I specifically asked for no peppers. The dining area where the booths are is a little clean, but behind that counter is pretty filthy. They don't require masks & half the employees weren't wearing masks either. The flavor isn't bad. Not just terrible in terms of food quality, but also in terms of safety and basic respect for social distancing in the age of COVID-19. I placed an online order for pickup since (a) it's getting too expensive to pay all of the fees and extras for delivery and (b) dining-in (anywhere!) is something I simply don't want to do right now. So, I drive there, park, put on my N95 mask, and walk to the door. I peek inside and see five people (that I suspect were a combination of owners/management and friends) standing between the door and counter, not working or anything...just chatting. Only one of them was wearing a mask, and even that was pulled down to her chin. None were more than six feet apart. After I entered, I had ask them to please get out of the way so I could get my food, which they just barely did. I then collected my takeout order and walk through the crowd. In short: Not cool. They saw me pull up and stand at the door. There were no other customers there. If they don't want to wear masks/distance, fine (I guess), but at least bring my food to me at the door! And, as others have mentioned, the store did not seem or smell very clean. Moving on: I lived in Atlanta in the '80s and '90s, and Philly Connection used to make pretty decent food. Having returned to the area in recent weeks, I thought I'd get something from them, and when searching for locations, I noticed that most were listed as "CLOSED" on Google Maps. Not thinking much of it, I placed my order and picked it up at this location (as described). When I got home, I was quite underwhelmed with my sandwich. The texture was greasy (even for a cheesesteak) and the flavor was completely bland. Needless to say, I won't be returning to this or any other Philly Connection, as the pride and quality that I used to associate with it is clearly something that has changed as much as ATL has in the two decades I've been gone. read more

This is one of those places where you are eating your food and thinking to yourself, "why am I eating this?". Like watching a car accident happen, I actually finished my sandwich. Meat was unimaginably bland, cheese was sparse and the peppers weren't green peppers- they were canned sweet peppers l! Gross. After getting into the car, I was in awe at how horrible this Philly Cheesesteak was. Driving home all I could think about was getting this out of my body. I feel almost obligated to either make or find a better cheesesteak soon just to balance out this horrible experience out of my life. AVOID! AVOID!! AVOID!!! Where should I begin... Let's start with the fact that I walked in and the manager/could be owner was seated with what is believed to be family. 5 to 6 adults with no masks. Manager walked back to register took my order. Never washed his hands, nor wore gloves or a mask while preparing my sandwich. I watched as he pulled out previously cooked meat out of a small pan above the flattop. It was not heated, nor refrigerated. I asked how long that it had been sitting there and he stated about 5 minutes; He could tell I had concerns about improperly stored cooked beef and asked him if he could prepare a freshly cooked Philly. He obliged and grabbed some new meat. Mind you he did not weigh the beef, so he is probably cutting back on the true portion size. Not a fact, just an observation. As I waited for my sandwich and I looked around the place and was disgusted by how just how dirty this place really is. The walls around the place have probably not been wiped down / cleaned in years. The floor is even more nasty, there is a 1 inch+ gap at the bottom of the backdoor. How many little critters can get in there? Can't even see out the windows... this place needs to be fumigated, cleaned and and completely remodeled! Disgusting! Went here on a Saturday night and had a good experience. While they have wings I opted for a cheesesteak. While the meat and cheese are good, the hoagie rolls are exceptional. They are very soft and keep the meat and cheese together well. As far as chain cheesesteak places in the Atlanta area. This is one of the best ones, if not the best. read more
