Well it's definitely not Philadelphia's best but it may be the best cheesesteak in California. they do have cheese wiz which is how a real Philadelphia cheesesteak is supposed to be made. If you order your cheesesteak with sliced cheese do not leave your feedback on a Cheesesteak because you don't even know how to eat it. Would you put sliced cheese on nachos??? Exactly. On a scale from 1 to 10 I would rate it a 7 Based on the actual sandwich bread, steak, cheese, peppers, mushrooms. It all tastes packaged and preserved and fake and it's so disappointing. Pretty darn close to a true Philly cheesesteak! After traveling to Philly many times, I can say I do prefer the classic Whiz wit, here at Philly's Best they have one that has a melted white American cheese that comes pretty close. Don't add extras, like mushrooms and peppers. Mushrooms left me wanting and the peppers are provided for free at the condiment bar. I also just tried the "Spring Chicken" which is a play on a chicken cordon bleu. Delicious, a little salty, but I will for sure come back for this one! And we ordered the bbq cheesesteak, meat had a softer texture and the bbq sauce was overpowering, taste was good, but would pass next time. Overall, the staff is pleasant and the cheesesteaks are delicious. It's not healthy food, but comfort food and it always satisfies my craving for a good cheesesteak. read more

Went in after they forgot my sandwich the last time. They obviously compensated me for the sandwich that I paid for and never got, But they showed no remorse or the fact the person didn't even apologize for the mistake pissed me off. Was looking for a quick bite in this city and landed here. I got the "famous" meatball sub, and i was not disappointed! It didn't look so big at first, but it was extremely filling and the meatballs were delicious! Not dry at all! They also have excellent ranch... I believe at this location, you also get a discount if you check-in with Yelp! So be sure to do that. Only down side - PARKING!! It was awfullll. I was super hungry, and could decide what to "postmates" to my house. I came across Philly's best and though to give them a try, OH BOY I AM GLAD I DID. I ordered the Philly's best for me and the cheese steak for my husband and we both loved it. The meat was seasoned to perfection, The cheese was perfectly melted into the steak, not just placed on top, and stayed so creamy and smooth, hours later when I ate the other half. The food here is good, it's the lady working the front counter that is horrible. Waited there for quite a few minutes while she did random things at the front without acknowledging me. So I called out my order to the cooks as I was the only one at the register. Then she turns around. Doesn't ask what type of cheese I want, doesn't mention a combo will give me fries for .13 more. The cooks offered to make me fries when I asked if the combo was a better value, but after her very dry personality and experience from her, I just passed. I'm from DC, so my cheesesteak standards are high. We have places called "Carry Outs," that are basically Mom and Pop greasy spoons. They're hard to beat. This is a chain, so it's going to have an assembly line quality to it. The meat is not the rib-eye that I'm used to, but it did the trick. They give a lot of meat and I asked for extra cheese. The cheese is like cheap, runny nacho style cheese. It's not the thick slices of provolone or cheddar that is customary in Philly, but the bread was extremely soft and tasty. Down one star due to the ff (I hope the owner reads this): Food, cleanliness, ambiance: 4/5 stars However, this involves a Yelp check-in offer for 10% upon checking in to Philly's Best. We ordered the food & showed the man at the counter the offer. He acknowledged it and proceeded to hit keys on the register. My husband paid but felt a little off with the price so he asked the man for a receipt. The man then said that he actually forgot to put in the offer, then prints the receipt for us. He proceeded to give us a free soda to compensate. Now, our total bill was $28.26. It should've been $25.43 with the 10% off. $2.83 off, but soda was only $1+.... We don't care about not getting the full $2.83. However, we felt it was so shady that the guy didn't take the 10% off when we had JUST shown him RIGHT before paying & he actually acknowledged it. How many customers has he done that to, if at all? Seriously thinking about not returning here for that simple reason. Integrity is a big deal for me. read more
