This is my usual go-to coffee shop when I'm in the area because I absolutely love this place however I am quite disappointed with my experience this morning. For starters no one asked me to confirm my order which made me skeptical because anyone can just walk in and grab a random order. Secondly, I ordered a Mint Mojito which tasted like water. I was running late for work so I wasn't able to go in and ask for an exchange which makes me really sad. Philz is great but they really need more consistency in their signature drinks. We were waiting for our breakfast table, but Mama needs to be holding a coffee. :) The cashier was very friendly, and recommended a few drinks when I asked what the favorites were. I think that I got the class Philz speciality coffee with their recommended sweetening levels. It was very delicious. The bonus was that the kiddo saw some dog treats and I suggested giving one to our fur baby. We asked the cashier for some, and he gave us a generous helping. First I have to say I was doubtful Philz would live up to the hype. My daughter has been waiting for this location to open. I went in a skeptic and came out a believer! There are none of my beloved syrups here...but...wait...the coffee doesn't need it. The tasting notes in the menu are spot on. The barista we had was a delight...she was friendly and knowledgeable. The coffee is amazing and unique (that's only if the barista makes it right and doesn't look at you like they are setting your soul on fire for asking them to make it more sweet or whatever) holy crap the customer service sucks tremendously!! The workers all seem like it's such a drag to help you. Or the minute they finish your drink they turn around and start talking to each other.. They are super thick and have that great bean tasting flavor. So far I have had the Arabic Aromatic and Jacobs Wonderbar. I'll definitely keep trying new ones. Went in for the first time with a gf and she recommended I got the "ecstatic" iced coffee. On the menu board it says it tastes like nuts, toffee, and toast. Idk about all that, but I will say I LOVED it. Like obsessed. My friend told me to ask for it "sweet and creamy" so I did. It's interesting because you go in, you wait in line(which kind of took forever) but its because you actually have to go up to the barista and give them your order and they make it then and there to how you want it. After you out the order in, you don't pay for it right away, youre free to wander or sit and wait. Then they call your order up, they make sure you like it, and then you can go pay to the cashier on the other side of the place. Very casual form of paying. I also wanted food, so on the way to the cashier I let him know I wanted an avocado toast. I was kind of scared to see how much it would be because it seems like avocado toasts everywhere are $10+ but this one wasn't so bad! it was about $6 and some cents which I could live with. So then I paid for both my small iced Ecstatic coffee and my toast. it all came to $10 and some cents which wasn't bad! So the toast was decently toasted and had slices of egg on top with I want to say sesame seeds. I liked it a lot! I am DEFINITELY coming back, I'm now going to find my own around my house and take all my friends :) So definitely check it out! read more

We were excited to try a Philz shop today 1/07/20 at 3pm we're directed into a line to order. We looked at the black board menue and didn't see usual lattes etc and when the person in front of us finished ordering my sweet wife stepped forward to order and was rudely told to "get back "that they weren't ready, very rude young lady. Not friendly at all. At age 75 it might be nice to get some friendly advice on Philz system. Any way we left and went to Viento Agua and had a great " decaf " Americano " and very nice service and chat with Kyle who remembers us from last trip out here last year !We just got a Philz in Evanston, IL and I will not bother ! I don't understand why this place needs to be so confusing and why the employees feel the need to be snobby. Their drink menu includes things described as "tastes like a latte." I mean...what?? They have no food menu near the entrance which means that line gets backed up because people can't decide their order until they're at the register.
