Philz Coffee in Torrance just opened this week. I ordered the bacon and egg, pork sausage and egg burrito, and pumpkin muffin. For the coffee order, I got the Ether and Tesoro. The large is quite tall and the medium was just right. Spoke to one of the baristas (Ilana). She was very friendly, nice and helpful. They're located in the Del Amo Mall near Nordstroms. Go early before the mall opens to get good parking. I'll be back again soon. read more

New location! I've only went to Philz Coffee once before in El Segundo so this place is a nice addition. What's bad about this place is the parking for Philz Coffee is usually always full. It doesn't make sense to park at the parking structure and walk here for a quick coffee. There are some spots for Philz but it doesn't seem like enough since there's usually a line. I ordered a large mocha tesora. I had no idea what to order so I'll try this drink out. I waited like 5-10 min and then more people lined up after me. Comparing it to starbucks, I noticed that they don't have a set area for all the drinks but rather the barista places the drink in front of them on the counter. The drink was amazing! i was blown away with the taste and quality! So much better than starbucks and coffee bean!! will come back here more often and it's open pretty early too. On the side note, their bakery items are really expensive. Can't justify spending $4-$4.50 on a muffin. Interior is modern and clean! They have a small merch store inside. They have seatings inside to study as well. Staff is very friendly and they were willing to make your drink right if the taste is off. Also they don't put a lid on your hot/cold drink unless you ask for it. Try this place out!! read more

Wow what service. You can tell if service is forced by corporate or the people working there are genuinely interested in your satisfaction and this is one of those places that they are genuinely interested in your satisfaction. Let me start by saying I am not a coffee drinker. I am more of a strawberry acai / frappuccino type of guy. However, I like to try coffee every once in a while to see if I have become a coffee guy & get "in" with society because I feel like I'm missing out. In any case my review will be very objective. This is the most personal service I've gotten for a cup of coffee . The staff recommended me a drink, Which was a fantastic recommendation after I told them I'm not huge on the coffee taste, but I like hints of it. and after the coffee was made, the barista specifically told me to take a sip. "Tell me what you think". I've never had that ask of me at any other coffee location which was fantastic! I ended up ordering the silken splendor, creamy with medium sugar, because I'm used to coffee places having their drinks too sweet but their medium here was really medium so I asked him to add a little more sweetness to it. This coffee drink contains toffee, chocolate, and citrus. It was very smooth. It does have that roast flavor at the end that gives you a hint of bitterness, so if you like that type of coffee, you'll love this. As someone who isn't big on the coffee flavor, though, this drink didn't convert me, but the quality of it and the customer service is all there in spades. The only improvement that I would recommend is making the coffee more hot. It was a little too on the warmer side. I was told their signature drink is their ice mint Mojito, and very popular at their other locations so that may be something I try in the future. The inside is very nice , clean, positive vibes. I think this is a wonderful start for a new location and I hope this level of service continues going forward. Their entrance is just outside of Delamo mall right between Sweet Greens and Nordstrom. I love this Philz Coffee location! Whenever I visit Torrance, I always stop by to study. They have numerous charging ports, lots of seating and tables, and the wifi works extremely well! I usually have to watch many lecture videos while studying and I have never had issues with connectivity or lag. I feel like recently of late, it has been really difficult to find a cafe that promotes such a good gathering/study space. Aside from the studying environment, the service is great! All of the staff is friendly and efficient. In terms of their drinks, I have tried the Mint Mojito and the Iced Coffee with Rose Cream and both drinks have been absolutely delicious. I will be continuing to stop by this Philz location whenever I am in Torrance! read more

I don't know what to make of this place, sometimes hot sometimes cold. Workers, choose when to be nice, not automatically. I'm not asking for much, but to seem so put upon, so tired, so so. Does not give a customer a repeat frame of mind. Food is always good to great, a lil pricey, but quality is there. Coffee, is sometimes great sometimes over done. Sometimes the best, sometimes not. Decent coffee chain with good tasting drinks and pastries. The quality of the drinks are better than Starbucks, the pastries are good, but will cost more than a Starbucks pastry, but the quality is there. The baristas are good, they are not over bubbly, but they are chill. This location is very clean. And gets busy in waves. It's not too loud so it is also a decent place to study, which you'll see other people doing. The wooden square tables are strangely a little higher than most tables, but the two person round tables against the wall are average height, but nevertheless, seating is still good. They have some teas including chai latte but tried that previously and it was very strong tasting. I'm sure since they're a chain they don't have a lot of choice as to what drinks can be added. The good: Fill me up with some Philz! I'm from the Bay Area (Northern California) and have always been a Philz fan. I am psyched to have this location in the (South) Bay Area. They have both an indoor and outdoor seating area (though the outdoor tables are limited and small). I tried their "Winter Bliss" (a seasonal flavor) in a small with light sweetness (there are 3 sweetness options) and iced. I've tried almost everything else on their menu at other locations and can say that they're all hits. Most of their drinks have an iced or hot option as well as a creamy option. The winter bliss was topped with cocoa bits and was exceptionally delightful. I loved the balanced flavor and how it was subtly sweet and creamy. It wasn't too bitter, was not too over roasted or acidic, and didn't taste of artificial flavors. They have a fun, colorful and abstract wall mural/wallpaper inside. This wont be my last visit! The bad: The wait for my drink was pretty long. The interesting: Every indoor table was occupied by a studying student when I came today (Wednesday). It's a Philz requirement that they ask you to try to the drink to make sure it's perfect while you're at the counter. This location is at the Del Amo shopping mall. They've never gotten my drink correct here. I ask for less sweet and nope. I ask for no oat milk and nope it's in there. I go to other Philz and have no problem with accuracy. But for some reason, this location always gets it wrong. Today I actually asked them to remake it because they used oat milk instead of cream and he remade it the same way. Philz always has some of the best coffee around. You definitely get what you pay for here. Be prepared to wait a few, there's usually a decent line and the coffee takes time to prepare. Worth the wait. Staff is always friendly, but also in go mode. The layout and setting here is a little cluttered and funky. Their drinks are so good! I love the barista creations! I usually get an iced oatmeal cookie, cinnamon toast crunch, or the coffee rose.

I have always loved their iced mint mojito and yes take their recommendation to have it sweet and creamy. It's not super sweet, it's really a perfect sweetness. And the creamy is like having a splash of heavy cream with your coffee. Great that there is a Philz closer to this side of the South Bay but the only bummer is the parking. It's at the mall and not closer to the parking structure so if you just grabbing your coffee parking can be anissue during peak hours. There are some reserved spots for people picking up for the different food spots but people probably abuse those spots. read more

I love Philz! It was way busier on a late Friday morning, but apparently they just opened so I guess it makes sense and I guess we all have this specific Friday off! First timer trying their breakfast food and ordered the bacon and egg breakfast burrito with hot sauce on the side, and it came with two Cholula packets. The burrito was pretty tasty and a little on the smaller side, but with prices nowadays, I guess I paid a fair amount for a literally a half-size burrito. My go to drink is the Tesora, the Phil's way and it was as yummy as ever! As I sat inside and heard all the drink orders, apparently the Mint Mojoto is popular - so I'll try that one day since this new location is pretty accessible. Fast and friendly service! I typically have coffee once/week at this location. I've enjoyed Philz for more than 10+ years (first tried them in Berkeley when my daughter was in college). I'm happy they opened one in my neighborhood a few years ago. There have been a few bumps with service at Del Amo store...some employees are not so courteous...but most deliver service with professionalism and a smile. I come here for the pour-over coffee...Philz is unique. My favorite is generally New Manhattan, the lightest roast. I recently switched it up for Dancing Water, which if my old "go to". I like that too...more of a medium/light and less bright...I took some Dancing Water beans home and they make a great home brew in my French Press. read more

Had heard good things about their chai, which is my go-to order at any coffee shop, so decided to give them a try. Came on a Saturday around 10am and the line wasn't long, but it took about 5-10 minutes to order (seems like they were short-staffed). I ordered an iced medium chai, and the cashier asked if I wanted it "sweet and creamy" to which I said yes (wanted a latte like drink). Took about 10 minutes for the drink to be made. When I tasted it, it was very spicy, but not very sweet or creamy. Definitely more of a chai tea (straight) without the latte part. I'd give them another try and maybe see if they could alter it a bit more, but wouldn't order it as-is again. read more
