Wow! I'm used to the Phin Cafe on Blossom Hill and this one has a different vibe. It has way more space and, at least right now, has a more chill feel with nice music and beautiful Christmas decorations. Currently there are multiple people working on their laptops and some groups of friends, so it's good for all different crowds. Location is amazing because I can drop by after my class at Bar Method, pick up something to eat or drink and be on my way! The service is friendly and efficient. I felt comfortable to ask questions and take my time looking at the menu before ordering. I ordered a hot White Matcha and it's very yummy! The cashier said that he has a sweet tooth and normally has things at full sweetness. I like my drinks to be a little less sweet and so I ordered it that way-- it is perfect for my taste buds! I'm so excited they put a Phin Cafe where Mod Pizza used to be. Vietnamese craft coffee and snacks, yes please. We got our order to go but I could see this being a place people spend a morning at. It's cute, bright, and spacious. Staff is friendly and efficient. My wife got the egg cream coffee and was impressed with the foam and intensity of the coffee, great flavor. I got the pandan, which I typically love, and was happy with my choice. Their rendition is excellent. Waffle is tasty too! Tried both the Phin Flight 1 and 2. Super pretty, but honestly not too much of a difference in flavor as the base was the same across each. Definitely mix the drinks well in order to taste the flavors. My favorites were the matcha cloud and the durian (surprising because I tend to hate durian. This one has more of a sweet, generic taste that I couldn't relate to durian at all). The flights also came with an egg yolk pastry. I would say 3.5 stars Service was decent. I got the Egg Matcha and it was alright. I saw that the matcha is electrically whisked. The quality of the matcha is mid. The egg cream top is the best part of the drink. But when the egg cream top is mixed in, you can't taste the matcha. However, the interior of the place is really aesthetic and it's a great place to study or work at. read more

I really enjoy the ambiance! I've been here a couple of times once for the soft opening and we've returned once more to try the other flight. I've tried both of their coffee flights and the corn coffee (because I love corn). The corn coffee might actually be my favorite one because all of the other ones are either too acidic or I'm not a fan of the cream. I like how they have the flights so that you can try multiple drinks. The flights are only available for dine in since they have the little tray with the place cards and they're served in glass cups. Out of the two flights we've tried, I liked the Phin Flight #2 more. I tested the wifi while I was there and it was pretty fast! Though I was one of like 5 people in the store so it's possible it's not as fast if there's multiple people working from there. The wifi password is printed on the receipt. The parking lot is spacious enough since the plaza is pretty dead. Most of the spots you'd be fighting over people with are those that are trying to go to the Habit. Parking isn't quite as bad as the Philz coffee one block down, but I could see it possibly getting that bad as people find out about this place. I got the durian coffee here and a puff pastry. Honestly wish the durian tasted more durian-y I thought it just tasted like regular viet coffee. But loved the pastry! Before reading this review, just know my boyfriend and I have a very plain and simple tastebud when it comes to coffee shop drinks! We ordered the iced milk coffee and a jasmine cold brew! Vietnamese tend to be a bit too strong for me, so I didn't personally try it. My boyfriend loved it though. He asked for only a bit of condensed milk, since he likes his coffee unsweetened most of the time. The jasmine cold brew comes unsweetened which I enjoyed. It was very refreshing. Our total came out to 11.50 which I think is a bit pricey, but also understand (in this economy). Inside is very nice. It would be a great study space! I think I've found my new favorite coffee spot. The first thing that caught my attention was the décor. It has an American coffeehouse feel with subtle Asian influences throughout. The furniture, lighting, and overall atmosphere come together beautifully. It doesn't feel like a Starbucks, and it doesn't feel like a typical Vietnamese coffee shop either. It's a perfect blend of both worlds, making it unique and inviting. Even the music was soothing and added to the relaxing vibe. I ordered the Vietnamese iced coffee with less sweetness, and it was excellent. In fact, I wish I had ordered the larger size! I also tried the grilled pork sandwich, and it was outstanding. I'm proud to say it's one of the best I've had, and that means a lot because I love Vietnamese sandwiches and have tried them at many different places. The crowd was diverse, with people from all walks of life coming in. I noticed students studying and others working on their laptops, which gave the café a welcoming community feel. As part of the grand opening weekend they had a 20% off deal going on. We had been to Phin Coffee in our area but wanted to try this new one. We got the pho coffee and the corn matcha drinks. The pho coffee is exactly what it promised: the flavors of pho with the star anise, cinnamon, lime, and a hit of spicy. I thought it was great to try once as it really was like pho in a drink but would not get it again for $12.50. Their Phin creations are mocktail adjacent and reflect that in their price. The corn matcha drink was also a welcome back from fall. Nicely separated layers between the corn and the matcha that complimented nicely when mixed. We wish that this was a permanent menu item instead of just seasonal. As for the location itself, it's massive. The place has its own coffee roasting machine behind the counter. It also looks like a great place for people to study or relax as a third place. The decor is very cozy being wood tones with lots of plants and it's not overly loud. The layered lighting as well as many large windows also add to the ambiance. Smooth jazz playing in the background if you're into that. The staff are very friendly and casual. One suggestion for improvement is the line / queue. We came just before a small rush of people. The guests behind us people lined up in front of the register towards the door, blocking some entry. I can see if this place gets busy enough, people may not know where to stand and block the entry way. Having a more defined line area that guides patrons to move closer to the espresso machine and leading to the register may be helpful to alleviate line issues in the future. Checked out Phin Cafe for the first time after seeing their Instagram post about their soft opening offering 20% off your entire order. Stopped by around 10:30am on Sunday and the line was right out the door with maybe 4-5 parties ahead of me. I waited about 5-10 minutes to place my order, but then the order took a while to come out. We noticed the food order was ready in just a few minutes, but the drinks took another 20ish minutes. We ordered an iced egg coffee and an iced white coffee and both loved it! We got the egg coffee less sweet and it was very strong. The white coffee was regular sweet which put the coffee on the milder side. Also tried their pork and chorizo pate chauds. The meat fillings were great (liked the pork more than chorizo) but the pastries were a little dense and could be flakier. I'd get it again but definitely not the best I've had. Whoever did the decoration, they really nailed it. I love this place is very accommodating for people to stay around. Either for study, work or just people watching. This place is a vibe. Place has a lot of seating and outlets are accessible for those who want to work remote or study. My partner and I didn't know what to get, so we tried the classic flight. Drinks came out pretty quickly. Top drinks: The americano/black iced coffee had me WIRED. Was not bitter at all, and picked me right up. The pandan coffee-OH MY-was so good. The pandan cream wasn't too sweet and if you are a pandan fan you will love this. The salted coffee was a good basic coffee, and the matcha one didn't really taste like matcha imo. If I had to rank the classic flight drinks, it would be: (1) pandan, (2) americano, (3) salted coffee, (4) matcha cloud. With that said, the flights are a good jump off point if you are new to this cafe and want to do a sampler. I will definitely try their other flights. This location is so much bigger than the Newark place which is a plus already. It was clean and the service was good. I ordered the combination banh mi. If a place can't get the basic banh mi correctly, then there is no point to order any other food item. I saw they had the pate chaud, but the flavors they offer are not the typical Vietnamese pork or beef. I'm not into coffee so I thought I would try a fruit tea. The tea selection and toppings selection could definitely be better. The other location I go to use to have this pineapple tea with jelly toppings until months ago they downsized their drink menu and toppings. Seems this location also followed suit. I tried a Mango kiss without any toppings. They don't list the toppings on the menu and I only remember they don't have any jelly. The flavor of the tea was weak and won't be ordering any drinks at Phin cafe anymore. Sad. I took the sandwich home. Looking for a new coffee place and this popped up. It's in the same strip mall as Habit Burger, where the old MOD pizza use to be. It's a bright, open, well laid out space. Good for meeting up with friends or studying/working from someplace new. As this is still in the 'soft opening' before their grand opening this weekend, take this review with a grain of salt. It's pretty quiet inside, which is good for those working/studying. Though it feels like a place to gather/community (like Voyager or Stardust cafe) so there's a little bit of a library-ish feeling (that doesn't match the vibe). The menu is large and unfortunately there's not descriptions of what things are ... some are self explanatory, eg: banana matcha, but others aren't - white matcha (is it white chocolate? nope, turns out it's condensed milk). We had a lot of questions for the cashier due to this before we could decide. Then there's no sweet, light sweet and regular sweet - it's hard to tell what that would be actually (I'm familiar with boba shops when they say that or when you go to a Starbucks or Peets and you know if it's 1, 3 or 5 pumps of syrup). It's a little harder to judge what you'll get here. Small recommendations would be to elaborate a little more on the menu (or have hand out menus that explain the types of drinks and symbols, etc) else people may be asking the cashier and inadvertently creating a backup. This is a great place to chat with a friend or study. There's plenty of seating inside, though it can fill up. They also have outlets in the walls so you can charge while studying or working. I'm not sure if that's what they're going for since their slogan is "tradition meets modern taste" but I was still surprised. However, the egg coffee for some reason was spot on. The drinks were a 3.5/5. As a normal coffee drink, it is good. The ube was slightly grainy but to me that indicates a more better flavor, and it was good. The egg cream was also good, I was hoping it to be sweeter and more creamy and less thick, but not a big deal. I have been to the fremont location and I preferred their coffee taste over this one. They did take a little bit long but I think if you're here to sit down and stay, that's not a dealbreaker. Came here at 2 pm on Sunday for the soft opening. Loved how much seating there was but for some reason had difficulty connecting to the WiFi. The girl and guy on both sides of me were having the same issues. One of the workers did come out and said they're working on getting another modem or something to put in the front for stronger Wi-Fi so maybe that was the issue. Got the pandan and ube coffee. Solid coffee and fun drinks! I tried the Affogato and the Mulberry Salted Lemon coffee for the first time. The Mulberry drink hit a lot of different notes and was a very fun medley of flavors. It was tasty and fun all at once, though not quite my style. The affogato was delightfully sweet and the coffee was a delicious bold blend that made a great drink! The staff were very kind and patient while we were deciding and gave us great recommendations regarding the menu's variety. I work just down the street, so I was excited to discover Phin Cafe. One of the things I appreciate most is that they open at 7:00 AM. As someone who starts work early, it's refreshing to find a specialty coffee shop that's open when I need it. Many mom-and-pop coffee shops don't open until much later, so their early hours are a huge plus. When I stopped by, there was no long line like mos popular coffee establishments, and I had my coffee and green pandan waffle in under five minutes. The coffee was strong, smooth, and absolutely delicious. The pandan waffle was also really good. I'll definitely be back for another one. The café has beautiful floor-to-ceiling windows that let in plenty of natural light, making it a great place to sit, work, or just enjoy your coffee. I also noticed they serve bánh mì sandwiches, and I'm looking forward to coming back to try one soon. This was a great first visit, and I can't wait to work my way through more of their caffeinated drinks. I think Phin changed their matcha brand because the color looks more vibrant now. The drink doesn't taste bitter anymore. I'm not talking about the coffee bitterness, but that lingering aftertaste the matcha used to have is gone. I'd recommend trying it and seeing for yourself. As someone that knows how sweet Vietnamese coffee can be, I got less sweet - but I don't think that's the right call for this location. My friend and I both got less sweet, but instead of being less sweet, the taste was unexplainably different. We weren't able to finish either drinks, as it didn't taste the same as the other locations. I hope it is a one-time fluke, but I'm not sure if I will return to this location given the experience. I would recommend just sticking to the default sweetness to be safe. The interior is really nice though, and despite the early morning (around 8am), the location was already busy with folks there either hanging out or working from home (wfh) with their laptops. The staff are incredibly nice and accommodating--they'll actually put your drink into your personal mug if you want, unlike some places. If there's anything to complain about, it'd be that they definitely cheapened out when it came to seating. I just thought I'd come on here and say Michelle, I was there when you were asking about your drinks!
