I am on the quest for the best Vietnamese coffee in the Bay Area, and Phin Cafe located in Fremont seemed like a no-brainer place to try. The cafe is quite spacious, with several tables and many people set up to work. There here was constant walk-in traffic in the 15 minutes I was waiting for my drink on a Sunday, speaking to how popular this spot is. The phin coffee is only offered as an in-house option, but the to-go version is their house special. They have pretty much all the popular options people are craving these days, including the highlights with ube and banana. Service is quick, and the place is well staffed to keep things moving. The coffee itself is strong as advertised, though slightly burnt on my visit. and the pricing is honestly lower than expected. Met a friend here before I picked her up for a weekend trip and a long car ride. I found Phin Cafe because I wanted pandan coffee and they fit the bill! Lots of free parking. It's kind-of in a nondescript mall. I ordered the Pandan Coffee and it was sweet and creamy. They have lots of flavors like ube and durian, too, and food like spam musubi and egg puffs. Would give this 4.5 if there was an option. We ordered the pandan matcha and the banana matcha. Very smooth matcha and was lacking something but not sure what it was (might be cuz I've had better pandan and banana matchas Elsewhere). I like their drinks but have been disappointed with the service lately. This visit my drink wasn't filled up and you can see there is already plenty of ice. Last time they told my boyfriend they couldn't make any drinks with alternative milk (when they had in the past). After he ordered a separate dairy drink for me then they came back and said they could make him a dairy free drink after all which was very frustrating. I've heard so many positive reviews about their drinks, so I decided to stop by since I was in the area. I don't drink coffee, but I really wanted to try their Pandan Matcha. It was 4pm on a Sunday and there were quite a few people inside. The cafe is small, cute, and cozy. I waited a few minutes before my order was ready. The drink itself isn't that big given that it costs almost $7.50 (another $0.50 for oat milk). The pandan had a subtle flavor and tasted pretty good after it was mixed in with the matcha. Ever since my first Hawaii trip - when I fell in love with musubis - I've been trying to find one here in the Bay Area and this is the place to get it. Their spam and egg musubis must be made with love because each and every time I order it (which is often) it never fails. Phin Cafe is good for their coffee, their musubis, and their aesthetics. I first discovered this place while dropping off donations at a nearby thrift store and decided to try their banana matcha. I instantly fell in love with it and have already been back 3 more times. I've been dealing with some health issues and a restricted diet so finding something I can truly enjoy without it bothering me has been such a relief. I've been to this cafe a few times in the past year and it has a nice and cozy vibe in the interior. Seems to be a popular spot to study and do homework, so seating is usually pretty limited. The staff are always pretty friendly as well. I almost always get the Nutella Banana Coffee. Nutella Banana Coffee 8/10 - I like this drink a lot because it is more on the sweeter side. Even getting it less sweet it's still pretty sweet so I would not suggest this if you don't like your coffee too sweet. I appreciate that I get both flavors and that it has mashed bananas in the drink. Over time, I do think the service has gotten a bit slower, but that's likely due to how popular the cafe has gotten, so definitely be patient. Always a great experience at Phin Cafe. Whenever I'm in the east bay, it is imperative that I stop by Phin Cafe for an iced banana matcha latte and pandan waffle. So far, the best banana matcha I've had as Phin uses top ingredients and makes everything fresh, nothing artificial. Refreshing and delicious! The pandan waffle is always served hot. I usually like to get a side of salted cream to dip my waffle into but totally forgot this morning. I live in south San Francisco, and Phin always makes the trip to Fremont worth it. I gave it a chance.. and I've been hooked on it ever since. I think the same day we ordered in the morning, I ended up ordering another one the same day. You get a sweet and creamy taste from the banana flavor, and earthy fresh notes from the matcha. It's so delicious! We also ordered the bbq pork bahn mi sandwich add pate, cut in half. I like the option to cut in half! If I wanted to I could save part of it for a snack later if I didn't finish. The only downside is that some of the meat is a little fatty. I dislike the fatty/chewy pieces in the sandwich. Not my preference. Otherwise the flavor of good and I love eating it with my home made chili oil! A very busy store and rightfully so. This place crafts unique takes on coffee with a selection that can cater to anyone's taste buds. The staff are busy but kind -- I have been here a few times now and the staff always greets and takes my order in a kind manner. There is so much foot traffic with people coming in and out... that would drive me crazy but they are calm & collected. The drinks come out in a timely manner with the amount of people ordering. If there is a long wait, that means there are a lot of orders and we just have to be mindful as customers of that. The durian coffee is definitely my favorite -- Every drink that I've had so far has a base of Vietnamese coffee. Then there is either foam or a concoction of the menu item in the drink. For example, the durian coffee (my favorite) has just durian foam on top. It is sweet but has a smokey flavor, that is the best way I can describe it. Durian itself is very pungent. However, here there is a slight pungency but does not overpower the drink. I have also tried the ube coffee, that one is not my favorite because it has such a thick concentration of durian syrup or paste at the bottom and it doesn't mix well. The pandan was okay. There's nothing wrong with it but I'm also not a big fan of the flavor itself. However, I am sure lovers of the flavor would appreciate it. There are also tables for people to either study or conversate. I haven't tried to study here but will provide an update once I do. Overall, pretty cool place for people to come and try out different takes on coffee. Try the durian, it is definitely the best! read more

(Though I will be back to try their coffee because it's only fair and duh, an excuse to come through again). All I have to say is I was thinking about their banana matcha for a hot minute after having it. I got the banana matcha in less sweet and this was the "sweet" spot for me hehehe. It wasn't overly sweet and had enough sweetness to really do it for my tastebuds. I think what made this banana matcha a really big standout for me is that it didn't have that artificial banana syrup taste. A total win in my book. Especially as a banana fan. Seems this location changed their menu a little over a month ago. They still have a good combination banh mi sandwich but now only have 4 basic fruit teas. They use to have a decent pineapple tea but no longer. No longer do they have any jelly toppings. I was told because it took up so much counter space? In the east bay for work and I desperately needed a matcha to get me out of this midday slump. My husband found Phin Cafe online and I am so glad he suggested we come here for our afternoon pick-me-up. The baristas were very friendly and kind. They also put a lot of great care into crafting their beverages. I was having a tough time deciding on what delicious matcha option I wanted, but I ultimately landed on an iced Ube Matcha with oatmilk substituted. This is so ridiculously good, I wish I had ordered 5 lol I'm also sad that I'm rarely up here for work because I'm going to be craving this for months. My husband got the Peach Cold Brewtra, which has a subtle floral note that compliments the peach nicely. He's very much enjoying it. The Vietnamese style coffee here are quite good! I'm always looking for Pandan flavor food and drinks, and not many places offer Pandan flavors or places don't do it well. But Phin Cafe makes a really good Pandan coffee. They've made all the drinks I had well. It's pretty busy on the weekends but the staff has always been friendly and patient. The store offers seating and it looks comfy but I haven't stayed to enjoy my drinks. I do recommend the brew black coffee with condensed milk over ice, the Ube matcha latte, the Pandan coffee, and ube coffee. read more

A small cafe vibe. Very popular. Line out the door the entire time we were there, about an hour. Ordering is either via iPad or server. They don't have Phin's drip coffee all the time, sadly. But we tried the combination Banh Mi was very good. Crusty and crunch fresh bread. Service was fairly fast. Super spicy with a jalapeno in there! The egg coffee was very nice.
