Omg wow, let me start off by saying I have never been a regular to a cafe anywhere until I discovered Phin Cafe. Before the new location opened in Fremont, I would literally drive 1+ hour round trip to go to this South SJ location to try a new drink every few weeks or so because the drinks are just that GOOD. I've always been a fan of vietnamese coffee because I love the combination of strong coffee + condensed milk. I've been making it at home for a few years now too, but I just can't seem to master the egg topping or cream toppings as well as Phin cafe does. I've tried EVERY combination of coffee/matcha with every topping (egg, durian, salted, coconut, pandan, ube), and have also tried banana matcha, white coffee, and chai coffee. My favorites are egg coffee, salted coffee, and coconut coffee (except I try to order this less often just because it's quite calorie dense lol). The salted and coconut coffees are blended with the perfect slush consistency where the flavor tastes just as good in the last few sips as it did in the first few sips. The egg topping tastes so savory and salty and sweet omg I could eat a whole cup of this on its own. I can't emphasize enough how much I loooooooooove this cafe with all of my heart. I really hope another location opens up somewhere in the Mountain View/Sunnyvale area so everyone in the Bay Area is a ~20 minute drive away from Phin Cafe at most and everyone can enjoy the goodness that exists here. Very grateful that online ordering exists, it makes it super easy to order, drive 20 minutes to come here and just come in to pick up the drink vs. having to wait in line there to order and then get the drink after. All of the employees are always so sweet and quick to help. Indoors ambiance is very cute with lots of soft/warm lighting. In regards to flavor, the Vietnamese Egg Coffee was creamy and had a good Viet coffee flavor. The Pandan Coffee was okay. It only tasted mostly like coffee. The pandan flavor was too light. Parking is very easy and the ambiance can't be beat; very cozy. I was super excited to try out Phin Cafe but sadly I was a bit disappointed! My ube coffee didn't look much like the photo on the online ordering and just tasted very syrupy even after trying to mix it as much as possible. My husband's egg coffee was much better though. We ordered spam and egg musubi and it came out super warm which was nice. The musubi was tasty but could have been wrapped tighter and could have used some kind of sauce. Overall a pretty underwhelming experience, since we have better coffee within 10 mins, so I probably won't be driving another two hours to come back here. read more

I've been coming to this place for a little over a year now and this is by far the best egg coffee and pandan coffee. I originally had an egg coffee in SoCal at DV and couldn't find anything like it until I came across Phin Cafe. I'm usually sensitive to sweet things but I don't feel like it's sweet coffee at all. It tastes amazing and their coffee is pretty bold. I tried their Ube and it's mediocre so that's TBD whether or not I'll get it again. Staff are always so friendly w/ fast service. Some days, they ask that orders are placed via the kiosk and other days it's at the counter so idk...either way, it's never a 15+ wait time. Never sat inside so can't comment on how busy it gets but from the look of it, plenty of seatings inside and it's always clean (at least whenever I come). I've tried egg coffee at other places and I don't think it tastes as good as Phin's Downside: I'm not a huge fan of their delivery fee on DoorDash. Would rather 100% of the tip go to the driver as opposed to a certain % for the driver vs. the company read more

Everytime I want egg coffee, this is my go-to spot. It's pretty strong but what do you expect? Letting the egg soak in and mixing the rest of the coffee is the trick for me if you wanted something more sweeter. The interior is nice, definitely a spot you could go to if you wanted to have a small one-on-one with somebody or even study. Sometimes it can get busy depending on the day and time, but nothing too crazy. My only complaint would be the price. I'm paying $9 to satisfy my egg coffee cravings and yet here I am. I have been wanting to try this, but never felt it was the right time. This cafe opens at 11AM which is a negative for me. I don't typically drink coffee after 12PM, but 2 Fridays ago I went on a whim because I felt I needed this in my life. I don't know how this is traditionally made, but Google informed me it's by whipping condensed milk and an egg together until it reaches soft peaks. Once you have your brewed coffee from a ca phe phin, you dollop the egg and condense milk mixture on top of the coffee. In doing this creates a sweet, frothy, and delicious beverage. The cocoa powder was a nice touch, but I will ask for them to hold it the next time I come. Nearly $8 a drink, you get barely 10 sips. Can I bring my own instead of using your plastic container?
