I asked the one of the employees for the home made hot sauce and she gave me an attitude when she put one little container in the bag, so I grabbed some from the table to put in my pho and as soon as I'm done pouring she picks up the bottle from the table and takes it away. This is my favorite pho place in Los Angeles. It is superb sober, exceptional when drunk. Yes, it is "korean" pho, meaning run by Koreans. I can't really pinpoint the difference, I either order the plain, or oxtail. Their summer rolls are also delicious and fresh. Where to begin....... Came here with a friend and read the reviews and saw a few points on their health score. We had the table next to the wall that faces directly in the kitchen. As someone who has worked in food service I was APPALLED at what I saw. Everything is "pre-setup" so to say. Waters already filled sitting on a counter, small condiments plates in the fridge.... When the lady went to refill the water pitcher she dunked the whole thing into a tub of iced water and continued to serve tables. On top of this, they are seen cleaning tables with their bare hands, touching dirty dishes, used chopsticks, and then taking food to tables, hands touching the plates of basil, lime, and onions for the pho. [The closest non-sketchy looking ATM is down the block at a Korean bank.] I'd say I've slurped my way through my fair share of pho, but this is the first place I've ever seen with ox tail pho on the menu! Though $8.25 for a bowl of pho goes against my inner-cheap-coin-purse carrying grandma instincts, the ox tail was unbelievably good and kind of/sort of worth the price. One order consists of a huge bowl of plain pho with a smaller side bowl of deboned ox tail meat swimming in its own ox-tail goodness. Again the old lady in me would prefer to have the bones to suck on, but I suppose it makes for easier eating. The broth was really flavorful/clear (without floating unknowns) and the noodles still had a nice chew to them which I really enjoyed. Though the prices are kind of on the high end for pho, the portions here make up for it by being borderline gargantuan; the regular pho tai (rare steak) had so much meat my carnivorous lady friend couldn't even finish it. Ahehe. The inside is typical 1990's leftover office furniture and very STICKY. It's like the ghosts of thousands of bowls of pho have deposited their sediment onto everything, so try not to wear anything nice... or rub up against anything. The service is typical of most pho restaurants, fairly attentive without the tragic "thumb in soup" faux pas. They were very nice about leaving out of the cilantro/onions from one bowl and putting extra in another along with extra onions at no charge. Overall a decent pho joint, I'd definitely come back and give their pho with tendons a try. [On a side note: I'm going to sit in on some sort of pho conclave and figure out where these restaurants get these arbitrary numbers to put into their names. This place brings me back memories... It was our go-to place to eat after a night out in Koreatown. Their oxtail pho is seriously two thumbs up! Food is the same as the other phos...no big difference. The service was TERRIBLE. The lady who seemed to be the owner or manager was talking to her employee who were talking about customers earlier and how they were all messed up and how she put her foot down with them. Also they were talking about another employee while im trying to make an order. Finally when she comes she asks what we want and i was halfway through my order when she walks away ro seat another customer. She doesnt come back so the owner or whatever comes and takes our order. She complains to the employee about it in front again and they have an argument. This goes on for 5 mins and finally she puts our order in. We wanted some thai coffee so i say excuse me to the waitress who is just busy doing nothing and the owner looks dead at us and tells us Your food is not ready yet! So i tell her i simply wanted to add to my order. She then smiles and tells us oh she didnt know and takes our order. She tried small talking but was too late for that. I would understand somewhat if we were one of those rude and impatient customers but i have been in the customer service business for many years and i always try to be nice and patient but their attitude and the basic customer service lacks big time. How do you answer to a customer even before the customer say anything telling them the food is not ready wait. Well this would be the last time going here as well as my company. Writing this review is crazy! Lol.. I can honestly say that I still order here because I like their soup and I love soup especially in cold nights. All my comments and suggestions are based on my experiences and encounters with them: What i LIKE: you can request for more soup if you ran out of it. Definitely a PLUS. The soup is great and very tasty. I like their noodles as much as i love the soup. Very generous ingredients offered. Close to my home. What i DON'T LIKE: Valet parking is $2! Even if you park it yourself. when you go in, make sure dont sit where the fan is. Also, dont sit near the kitchen because you can smell the onions and it irritates your eyes as well. So you cant eat your food well coz youll be all crying. The servers are just servers. It means that they are not there to please you or anything, they just serve. If you want water, You have to ask them. When they charge you, in their receipt, you can see gratuity 15%, 20%,etc. Since we are not satisfied with any of their services due to our eyes irritated by the onions, plus no water offered, and they were pretty upset that we had to transfer one table to the other, we didnt give the tip they expected. I remember our bill was around $55? So We only gave a $2 tip. They literally ran outside to meet us at the parking lot and say that they dont deserve that tip. We have to add $3 more! Like. I thought we only give tips to deserving servers who does their job well and tip is voluntarily given. It is not mandatory especially if you are not satisfied and happy with your experience. They just serve and take advantage of you when tip comes? Thats a NO NO for me. Suggestion: I suggest, DONT park in their parking lot. You can find street parking. Order and do it for TO GO. did i ever think... in a million years... that it was possible to walk into a vietnamese "pho" restaurant (owned by Koreans)... order an OX TAIL pho... get a side of perfectly soured kimchee... while Mexican ranchero & mariachi music played through the house's sound system??? my answer is a RESOUNDING.... "HELLLLLLLLLLLS NO!" but... i did... last night... and it was DELICIOUSLY SURREAL!!! my lovely Kimber had a craving for Pho last night (of all the nights she picks the warmest night of our winter thus far...)... after learning that Pho 2000 did not serve any beer/wine/liquor... i opted for Phobulous on La Cienega since they allow you to bring your own alcohol to drink free of corkage...but when we got to Phobulous it was closed :( (i'm not an alchy, i just had a long 10 hour day at work and needed that lovely chilled satisfaction of "ahhhhhhh" that is only achievable by the "after work just got home" beer...) so after a few other tossings of possible ideas on where to eat... we ended up pulling into Pho 2000 on western. the decor was "Eatery-Chic"...by this i mean an absense of "designed" decor... no this place was designed for you and me to come in and EAT EAT EAT...and get out out out... photos of the dishes line the exterior panel windows as a clear reminder that WE SERVE FOOD not ambience! which is FINE by me.... growing up in los angeles, i know that some of my most divinely scrumptious eats were at locations that looked like a step up from a large refridgerator box! there are no menus... BECAUSE they're under the glass on the table...ha ha ha like i said... 'EATERY CHIC' kimber got the combo and i got the oxtail....OMG OMG yum! after ordering we got our bowls within 5 mins! PIPING HOT! also after speaking with our server, i caught on that she was korean, by her accent...and politely asked for ice water in our mother tongue... she was shocked to see that i was korean (i'm hapa with only 1/8th irish but it apparently is enough to throw my kinsmen off)...she immediately asked in korean if i wanted kimchee... um... DUH... any and every korean wants kimchee!!! and pow! kimchee was dropped at the table! after letting the pho cool a bit, we spiced it up with limes, bean sprouts, mint, onions and some chili sauce... OMG DELISH!!! I COULDN'T STOP EATING/SIPPING/CHOMPING!!! i was definitely in pho-bliss!!! kimber really enjoyed her combo pho (which came with meatballs, brisket and sliced beef)... the OXTAIL PHO was wow. delish. i'm guessing the korean influence took over with that dish! and i'm SOOOO glad it did! I absolutely hate Pho, but I loooove this place. The oxtail pho is the way to go. So tender and soft, and something about the texture of oxtail that I really like. The noodles and broth are far superior than other pho restaurants around. I normally don't like pho because it just tastes really cheap and msg-esque. Not here though. Definitely our go-to pho place when we get the cravings! The servers in there have always been really nice. We've never had to wait for a table, but then again we've never gone at peak times or late night when all the drunkards start coming in. Anyways, the bf usually gets #1, and I always get oxtail pho. Both are awesome and they don't skimp on the meat. The oxtail is soooo tender and delicious. And I personally think that they give u a good size noodle portion because I never finish. Sometimes the broth can be a little fatty, but definitely never lacks flavor! I love putting lots of lime in my soup. They don't always give you cilantro but you can ask for it. I'm pho-natical for pho. Okay, now that the puns are out of the way, I recommend this place for rock solid good pho. Service is fast and friendly. The food is great. The broth is flavorful and definitely made from real meat instead of anything from a powder. The meats are good cuts packed with flavor. I recommend the oxtail (#8), the simple rare beef steak (#3), or the meatballs (#4). Ok, I'm ashamed to admit I've memorized the numbers. Don't get the sides like eggrolls or spring rolls unless you really need them. It's over priced and not that good. One of the better pho places west of the 101 freeway. Just be ready to pay a little more. Note: Cash only. Parking might be valet if the lot gets busy. Don't expect a trendy/romantic ambiance. It's just a pho joint. A good one though. read more

One thing that deters me away from this place is the minimum card fee: $15. I just think it's kind of absurd that the fee is so high, especially when you're not always carrying cash. It's a burden to have to go to an ATM and spend $3 charge fee...it pretty much defeats the purpose of leaving tip. Also, I'd avoid the chicken Pho for sure. It's just not very tender and extremely dry. Stick to the oxtail. Just be prepared to have cash with you because you really don't want to end up spending more $$ at an ATM. read more

wow, wow, wow... what happened to this restaurant...?? i been going this place over 2yrs now, always the same quality. but couple of months ago, it came with less noodle... and the waitresses asked us "more noodles?" ...oh, ok, i get it. well i dont know if they charge for the extra noodles they offer, but their pho was huge before, and now little less but still a lot(good enough), so thats ok, i understand the downsizing. but then yesterday, i had my usual (chicken pho). and guess what? The soup for the pho was very delicious. The pho itself was delicious. It felt like such a long time since i ate pho. The summer roll come with peanut sauce and it was also good too.
