Egg Rolls | Chả Giò ($9) #31.Hủ Tiếu Nang Vang - Cambodian Pho ($17) - Nước | Soup, Hủ Tiếu Dai | Clear Noodle ($0.75), Giá Trụng | Cooked Bean Sprouts *Extra Limes - 3 Limes *Free Drink (Min $15 Order) - Flan Cake (Free) *Sales Tax - 9.375% ($4.99) On the way home to SJ, the hubby and I decided to grab some pho. After looking around, I picked Pho 21. When we arrived around 9:45pm, we noticed this was the old Lee Noodle House. Ah, memories! Vibe is def different - robots delivering some items, booth style seating, etc. When I arrived, our order wasn't ready yet, so I tried to find a spot to stand and wait. There were quite a few ppl waiting and no real area to get out of the way. I had to keep moving around so I wouldn't be an annoyance. One thing I noticed, before I got to the register to tell them I was here for my order, the girl in front of me, placed her order and got it before mine was even ready. Weird, cuz I placed mine about 30 mins before I arrived. Not sure how they prioritize making their orders. The pho was fine. As were the apps. They didn't give us any of the extra limes I asked for. I had lemon at home so made it work. The bean sprouts were also not cooked. I think they just give a generic side of sprouts, lime, jalapeno, etc, to everyone. So not sure why it's even an option to order that way on the site. The free flan was a nice sweet treat, tho it was slightly burnt. Might be more fun and an experience to eat in resto, but for takeout, be prepared to wait longer for your pickup order. REVIEW #3984
It's been quite some time since I've had to do a bad review. I've heard many reviews from friends both having good and bad experiences. For my personal own experience, yeahhh... it was bad. I did come in late at night to curb my craving and finally decided to give this place a shot. I semi regretted it after everything. Walked in, was quickly seated. However, while walking to my seat I almost slipped because the floor was wet and had water spills on the floor, I pointed it out but nothing was done about it. Secondly, order system was decent and quick but when it came to delivery and look of the food. It was sub par. My dish hardly any meat at all. It felt the proportions were 80% noodles and 20% protein. Like yea I get it, but not this. Additionally, the broth... I questioned where the flavor was. It lacked the depth and savory goodness at other Pho spots I've been to in San Jose. At this point, it was just a darker "flavor" water. That was it. I literally just ate what I could find of the protein in my bowl, paid and left. I hope to try this spot again in hopes of improvement, but not anytime soon.
It was solid. Only Pho spot that opens late. There's a yelp waitlist. It gets busy after 9 when other Pho spots close. Onsite parking, but lot isn't huge- it can get pretty packed. Left around 9:40p and several cars were pulling up. When I arrived I saw two homeless guys in the lot, but didn't see them bother anyone. One of them was talking to the air... Just be aware. Got here around 8:30p after Pilates and met up with my bf. I arrived first and was seated at a booth immediately and water came right after. Only other interaction with an employee was when the food came out and the check was given. Place looked clean, constant stream of customers, average noise level (Depending on who you're sitting next to anyway. A group of gen z came in and were sat across the aisle from me and one of them was very chatty. Can clearly hear her, but not the other patrons from other tables around me.) Ordering is from a QR code at the table on your phone. Check was brought to us when they saw that we were done with our meals. Employees are quick! What we ordered: #1 Special Combination Pho with wide noods #31 Hu Tieu Nang Vang (Cambodian Pho) with wide noods I love wide noods. I also tried to order the side of onions and add to order after submitting the first initial order, but it didn't add. I ended up just removing it. Couldn't bother with trying to figure it out at the time. The kitty robot server brought over the noodle garnishes/toppings after the order was submitted. So cute! Both bowls had a decent amount of noodles. The combination pho had a variety of meat, a good handful of it too! Almost just as much meat to noodle ratio. I appreciate that they didn't skimp on it. Standard beef broth. Beefy flavor, but not heavy. Hu tieu with soup. I find that wide noodles don't really work well with dry (broth on the side) version-- noodles break too easily. For those not familiar, the broth is pork based, tastes light and leans a liiiiiiiiiittle sweet rather than savory like beef pho. Broth is solid, but had better. Doesn't come with as much protein as the beef pho. 2x restrooms with code lock. I already forgot the code. Hand air dryer, no paper towels (if it matters).
I've visited Pho 21 twice so far, and it's a solid pho spot. First time, my boyfriend and I came here for a late dinner. We both got pho and spring rolls along with some drinks. They were all very tasty and perfect for a cold day! I remember that I liked that they have a cool robot bringing us our drinks. Second time, I got takeout from here. Parking here is very touch and chaotic in their lot. I luckily parked in the next door plaza and just walked over. Food is still pretty delish! The place is clean with indoor and outdoor seating.
Food: five stars Web app for ordering: negative ten million I don't know what blogicsystems is but they are costing this business real money, it is slow and barely works. For our group, it took 20 minutes to get the web app to load well enough to get out order in. Easily slower than ordering actual food.
I've been here a few times with my friend, and after trying many pho places, this one has become my favorite. The food is fresh and delicious. It may take a little time, but it's definitely worth the wait. The service is kind and helpful, and the atmosphere is nice. I will definitely come back again.
Spacious restaurant and great for large groups, but heads up--the wait can be long. Even with just two people, we waited about 50 minutes. Once seated, service was fast and the servers were attentive, which we appreciated. The only dish that truly felt worth the wait was the shaking beef. Huge portion, perfectly cooked meat, and great flavor with the bell peppers--absolutely delicious. The pho was mid. The beef broth was bland; although, the meat itself was cooked perfectly. Egg rolls were undercooked as well. I'd come back, but only for the shaking beef.
I recently came here with friends after one friend strongly recommended it. And overall it was very good! I got the short rib pho and it was delicious! The food comes out super hot. You get a huge piece of meat with the rib, and honestly it's a bit difficult to eat with how hot it is, but it was still very tasty. But the broth and the noodles were great as well. We went on a weekend and it was pretty busy and we had to wait a bit, so keep that in mind. I also love that they're open late in case I wanted to stop by for a late night meal. I would definitely come back if I was in the area!
Pho 21 is a solid go-to spot whenever I'm craving pho. It's one of those places you can reliably rotate into without thinking twice. I usually switch between the pho tai, pho dac biet, and their short rib pho, all consistently good, flavorful, and satisfying. I've tried one of their rice plates before and it was just okay. Not bad, but nothing that really stood out. If you're coming here, I'd definitely stick with the pho. The restaurant itself is clean, the service is good, and a big plus is that they stay open late, which makes it perfect for late-night cravings. Overall, good pho, solid service, and a dependable spot I'll keep coming back to.
This place was PACKED when we came and I can see why. Check in on Yelp ahead of time if you can. This place accommodates bigger parties/families, which is why the waitlist is so long, but the wait for a party of two is quick! I wanted to try fried stir fried noodles because I love this in Cantonese food and wanted to compare them. These noodles are wheatier than what I'm used to, the sauce is less thick and the seafood is very generous! Definitely different from the Cantonese version, but yummy in its own way. Crispier than ours too. We also tried the egg rolls and pho dac biet, which met expectations. Drinks are delivered via robot. It's quick if you order all together, but if you add it later, it takes a little while.
Came here for the pho and it was delicious. The location is spacious, and even on a Tuesday night it got pretty busy. I'd recommend joining their Yelp waitlist or calling ahead. Ordering is done through a QR code so hands-on service is minimal, but the food comes out quickly. Overall, this place serves high-quality Vietnamese food. Clear, clean broth from my beef pho and I like how they chopped up the steak! Big portion as they only serve one size for their pho. I also ordered the taro milk tea with boba, but it was too sweet at 100% sweetness. Fortunately, the staff was very accommodating and remade it at 50% sweetness, which I really appreciated.
We waited maybe 20 min on a Sunday midday. We have to order using QR code. Chicken pho broth had some flavor that had opportunity for depth in flavor. Hence why I added spicy siracha and other spicy chili. Flat noodles were yummy with generous amount. Pho bowls are pretty big. Spring rolls have a good amount of protein. They ran out of shrimp which was my original pho order so I ended up getting chicken pho instead. Milk oolong tea was pleasant.
Pho 21 was insanely packed--like lines out the door on a Thursday night packed. But honestly, they handled it well. The wait moved faster than expected, and once you're in, seating turns over pretty quickly. We ordered the oxtail pho and rare beef pho, and both were so good. The broth alone is worth coming back for--rich, flavorful, and exactly what you want in a solid bowl of pho. We also got the spring rolls and cha gio, which balanced each other out perfectly. Light and fresh vs. crispy and savory. I tried mango milk boba for the first time and was surprised how much I liked it, and the Thai tea was also really good. Big space, open late, and clearly a local favorite for a reason. Even packed, they keep things moving and the food delivers.
The pho here is so flavorful and tasted so clean. The portions were extremely generous, I had a lot of chicken and noodles in my pho ga. I almost didn't finish my bowl with how large the portion was! There was a slight 10 minute wait, I joined the waitlist thru yelp. This place was busy, but rightfully so! Inside the restaurant was clean and modernized and had lots of room for each party. Com ga roti was excellent. The tomato rice was seasoned perfectly, chicken was juicy, veggies were fresh, dipping sauce enhanced the flavor, and the side soup was rich. The only downside is there were flies flying around and I received a lot of chicken bones. Plenty of parking. Indoor and outdoor seating available. You can order directly from your table via QR code, and a robot will deliver it to you! Clean establish and good customer service. read more

Who here remembers Lee Noodle House? They close late (this was before Pho Mai opened) so this was the spot to go to after a night out. I don't drink nor do I go dancing but I worked at Pizza Hut (over 20 yrs ago) and had mainly closing shifts, so naturally we wanted pho after midnight. It's the ultimate comfort meal. Fast forward so many years later I found myself bookmarking this place because I wanted to see the robot server in action. I originally took off last Thursday and yesterday off (2 consecutive days) but I didn't want to waste it on nothing. Gavin is getting older, so all he wants is his dumb computer game. I worked Thursday but kept yesterday as PTO. I woke up w/ a cold and was feeling pretty exhausted. I decided to come here because I can get my pho fix and Gavin can order fried rice. We were seated right away. We saw the robot but it kept servicing table 19. I ordered the pho dac biet and Gavin ordered the chicken fried rice. Decent pho, not rich in flavor but it was a generous w/ everything. I wish they offered real chopsticks as opposed to the disposable wooden ones. We waited about 10 min. or so. Service was good. The thing cool is you can press a button to pay or call your server over. It's quite convenient! Only con is the parking. read more

Noodles were fried crispy and a bit softer in the inside. The seafood gravy was good and had lots of seafood. The pho has good broth and tastes even better with fresh noodles. BEST PHO AND BOBA IN THE BAY! This place is absolutely amazing! My boyfriend and I have been coming a weekly for date nights and it's been so perfect! The service here is absolutely amazing and so friendly! The staff is very sweet! The food oh my goodness is so good!! We get the spring rolls and pho da biet every time and it always hits! This restaurant was honestly pretty amazing. They had workers and robot servers. The ambience was also really exquisite which gives it a 5/5 stars in the environment. The servers were also really kind as well. The menu was online and that is how you place an order. I ordered the Pho Dac Biet which had the beef pho broth, beef balls, tendon, raw beef that cooks in the hot broth, and rice noodles. Each part complimented each other so well where the rice noodles were bouncy and all the meats were so rich and hearty. It was a great lunch, and I highly reccommend it!! read more

I come here all the time whenever I crave late night pho! Their summer rolls aren't just with shrimp it's also with beef too and they are packed really nicely and very large. Pho is not greasy or oily at all and the staff is always so friendly. read more

I think the main pro of this place is that it is opened up late which is very convenient! I came on a Saturday night and it was a bit busy so I recommend jumping on the Yelp Waitlist before coming. The wait is pretty quick though. Once you get seated, you are promoted to order via a QR code. They have a cute robot that helps bring your food. We ordered the spring rolls and com bo Luc lac. The spring rolls were decent. The Bo luc lac was good but they gave such LITTLE meat.. I was very disappointment. I don't think this is the best place to get Viet food around but good for a late night spot! read more

Had to try it because so many reviews and people recommending this place but was very disappointed. I went after 9 and even with the Yelp waitlist the wait was really long. Service was really poor -2 stars -Messed up order twice. Regular noodles instead of flat noodle, more flan dishes than we ordered -Server did not bring flan in reasonable time when we finished our dinner -Didn't check up on our table for anything and hard to call waiter's attention -Too quiet checking people in. We had a medium party and they checked in smaller parties first. I wasn't sure if we were being skipped or not because there was no names being called out Pho broth was poor -2 stars -Chicken pho had no flavor whatsoever -Friend's regular pho tastes average which for the hype and wait to get inside is unacceptable read more

Pho 21 is my usual go-to pho spot, especially since they recently extended their hours from midnight to 2am! It's the perfect place to go for late night munchies, after the bars/concert, or if you're just craving pho! Service is usually quick and they bring your food out on a cute little robot. The ambiance inside is very modern with a bright atmosphere. Bathrooms are also usually clean. I always get the #3 Beef Pho because I don't really like the other fatty meats. They pile on the tender meat and the broth itself is hearty and enriching. Also, their strawberry smoothies are hella bomb! It tastes like the actual fruit and the consistency is perfect, not too thick and not too icy. You can also add in boba, which tastes complementary to the smoothie. Surprisingly, their boba tastes really good and chewy and it's even served warm in the drink! I recently tried their #26 Garlic Chicken Wings, which were a good size and very crispy. However, there wasn't much garlic taste to it :(. Everything else is amazing though so definitely come and try Pho 21! read more
I'm a frequent visitor to Pho 21 and love how consistent their pho broth is--always hot and flavorful. They offer plenty of customization so I can get all the meat cuts I want, which is a big plus. You can order either via QR code or the traditional way with a server, though the staff can be a bit hard to flag down sometimes. One fun highlight: the robot machine that brings veggies and drinks to the table--always entertaining to watch! I also appreciate that they stay open late. Definitely coming back again! read more
I've been here before the robots and online ordering took over. Although it's less personal when we use our phones to order, I dig the robot servers. They're very precise with the delivery as I explicitly chose steam bean sprouts, pho veggies and onion/vinegar sides. Pho here is acceptable. There is a hint of sweetness in their broth that you may like. I'm torn as I do find it refreshing, but I'm so used to a more salty broth. There is a nice balance of meat and noodles. I don't think I needed the side order of onions as I overdid it when I put them into my pho. This place has a nice ambiance and opens late. They're also very kid friendly as they have foods like fries, onion rings and wings. Around this area, I'll put Pho 21 together with Pho Papa and Pho Tau Bay for my local pho spots. read more

Right off the back you get a great vibe as you walk inn seeing the little robot with the cat face was an extra treat. The appet sampler was really good and the portion was a great size I had enough to take home. The short rib soup was also so delicious the flavor on the broth was amazing. highly recommend getting the flat noodles, you don't get those at all pho spots. and they were pretty tasty with the soup and don't get tangled as often as the thin ones. the pho was pretty flavorful to me, the right amount of hearty and not too salty/msg heavy. the oil was pretty controlled. i did order the side of scallions in fat and they were sweet. i also ordered onions in vinegar and it was just alright-- i personally wouldn't pay an extra $1 again for it. chicken wings were pretty bland, which was surprising seeing the garlic and (salt/ msg???) sprinkled on top. they have the good/ "OG" sriracha bottles. overall a pricier pho spot, more on the modernized end especially with the robot servers bringing things to the table. but they do have a call/ pay button at the table as well, we didn't see it until the end but when you press it, you see your number up on their intercom screen and it makes a doorbell noise. pretty smart system given that there are so many tables and it was quite packed for 12 AM. we had to put our name on the waitlist! (note that the waitlist was closed, and could only put our name down in person on the ipad) i would love to visit this spot after a night out, it would probably hit on an even different level! read more
I came here on an early weekday evening and the place was packed. There was a kiosk to check everyone in and I was surprised to see the number of robots carrying food around and delivering things people ordered to the table. Sometimes servers accompanied the robots but other times people took off their drinks and small things from the robot. The tofu spring rolls were just ok. They didn't have much flavor and the size of the dish was pretty small. The pho noodles had pretty good flavor, but the broth was not as aromatic as I've had elsewhere. The avocado smoothie was very good because it wasn't too sweet. Others might not like it because they might prefer more sweet but it was pretty good for me. My friends told me this is their favorite pho place and they've been coming here for years especially because they are open late. The amount of people who come here and are served is pretty amazing. read more

Late night pho spot! My friend and I were craving pho and it was pretty late at night already. This was my first time here so I was shocked to see so many people inside at midnight. We ordered from a QR code and our food came out promptly. I ordered the Pho Tai Bo Vien and it definitely satisfied my cravings. The broth was super flavorful and aromatic from the beef and spices. The beef meatballs (bo vien) were bouncy with small pieces of tendon, and the thinly slices of meat (tai) were tender. Definitely come check Pho 21 out when those late night soup cravings hit. They have a lot of food options besides pho to choose from! Also, they have a robot serving your food which was pretty amusing. read more

We come here often to have pho. My favorite is their rare pho with bigger flat noodles. Their shaking beef plate is also really good, as well as their appetizers (spring rolls, eggrolls, etc) Their boba isn't the best but it's decent. It's always packed so maybe put yourself on the waitlist so you don't have to wait to get seated. Their ordering system is online (scan menu, add to cart & check out) then pay afterwards at counter & they have the robotic carts that deliver your food which is pretty cool. read more
