I loved that every table had a side dish with everything you could need to make the soy dipping sauce & your soup spicier including Sriracha & chili sauce. Then we had the main course The Soup! My husband & I both had the wonton soup w noodles & my daughters shared the pho chicken noodle. You can almost swim in the size of the soup bowls more than enough for 2 meals but hard to stop eating!! The broth was delicious as well as the noodles & wontons. Even tough their sign said open and the hours were right there in the door I walked in and the kitchen was clearly open and they were staffed they said they were going to closing from 3 to 5. Not sure what pho in the north eastern states costs but it was more pricy than Houston where we are from Flavorful hot broth! No option for small or large so it was Big portion size. Yelp reviews are pretty accurate, but not this time! This is an Americanized Vietnamese restaurant. Also, the portions are tiny, they skimp on the meats, and it's a little pricey. We ordered spring rolls, pho and bun bo hue. Spring rolls: no herbs, no cucumber or bean sprouts. Very plain and not worth the money. Pho: not a lot of noodles or meats. Also, they just gave us shaved beef. Bun Bo Hue: this is not bun bo hue. It's pho with a little twist. Again, not a lot of noodles or meats. Pho does not cost much to make. The majority of the dish is noodles and broth so I was very disappointed when they decided to skimp on the noodles. A bowl of ramen noodles is more filling! They also gave us 5-6 pieces of shave beef (again skimping). The only good part of their pho is the broth. Formerly VietGrill but now under new-ish ownership. The new owner is a close friend of the previous owner. The previous owner still comes around once in awhile and the previous chef has passed on recipes. The place is much bigger now since they expanded to take over the former nail place next door which is a definite plus. Decided to give Pho 29 at try. The first thing we noticed was the cleanliness! We were seated immediately and ordered Pho with flank, chicken wonton soup, spring rolls and sweet & sour wings. Maybe I should've looked into this place more before coming here spontaneously with my friends, but we were starving after bridesmaid shopping at Chryssies across the street. I was very excited to try their pho and loved how home-y the restaurant was! I ordered the usual special combination, fried spring rolls, and viet coffee. The pho was very bland and my meat was overcooked. Sure, I should've asked for the meat on the side, but I never do that at other restaurants and the meat is still somewhat rare still. The meat was hard to chew and the noodles were quite hard too. I barely touched my bowl to be honest. The fried spring rolls was kind of a disappointment as well. On top of the okay-food, our viet coffees didn't come for a long time, which I was hoping to get a nice dose of caffeine before my meal. I went there solely because it had received such good Yelp reviews and I thought I would take a break from Sushi. I'm not picky with Vietnamese food but they gave me spring roll dipping sauce with my rice plate instead of nuoc mam (fish sauce), very strange. That's the first time I've ever seen that. My kids and I recently discovered pho ga and are totally addicted. We have had it at several restaurants in and around Boston. Being from the suburbs, we were thrilled to find Pho 29 only seven miles from our home. The big question going into this hole in the wall was: Will the pho ga measure up to what we've had? I'm happy to say the answer is YES! Although it was only available in one size and slightly more expensive than other places we've tried, the broth was far and away the best we've had. We also liked how the chicken was shredded rather than big chunks. Our only complaint would be that there was definitely less chicken overall. However, the superior flavor of the broth more than made up for the lack of chicken. In addition to great food, the service was outstanding. A man and woman (I'm boldly assuming a husband/wife team) were holding down the fort with him serving and her in the kitchen. Our order was taken quickly and we were given ice water with lemon without even asking (Pho 29 does not serve alcohol but it appears you can BYOB). The pho ga came out quickly and our water glasses were never empty. Pho 29 is a diamond in the rough. We are fans of and will definitely be return customers!!! read more

I'm a Pho person. When I go to a Pho place I Pho. Pho So 1 in randolph still produces a better more consistent Pho than this place. Even though the recipe is sopposed to be the same. I'm told the Pho master at Pho So 1 is the Pho master at Pho 29 now, dont know if that is true. I had both in the same week and Pho So 1 definitely has more Pho flavor. Wow was I impressed... Inexpensive, high quality Vietnamese dining in Canton center... EZ to sort out menu, not overwhelming... Our waiter was unbelievably pleasant and respectful...
