This place has some great options. My husband and I wanted some Vietnamese food, but we craved something more than just rice plates and pho. Pho 408 gave us just that. My husband had the bo ne which was so good. I had the snails which I also enjoyed. It was a bit hard to get the meat out of the shell, but the broth it was cooked in tasted great. I would definitely come back and try some other things.

    Oxtail Pho!!

We stopped here before doing some grocery shopping. Tonight I decided to get the oxtail pho since I have been craving the oxtail soups that I get in Hawaii. Service was great - hostess was friendly and they kept checking in on us whether the food was good or we need more water etc. Kids got beefball that they enjoyed and again I got the oxtail pho. The meat came off the bones and I really was hungry since I devoured everything. I also order the lychee drink which was also amazing. I would recommend it. Would come again - we enjoyed the food and service!!! Noise wise there is indoor and outdoor seating. We sat inside and had a nice conversation and was not loud.

Met my girl here for lunch as she was working in the area for the day. Strangely, Pho 408 is tucked behind Oakridge Mall (in the same parking lot) but it works. The mall entrance leads you immediately to the front of the restaurant. They did a great job with incorporating an outdoor seating patio to maximize the usage of space -- and to attract shoppers walking by with the wonderful aromas of the Vietnamese cuisine. We didn't try their pho but that will be for a future visit. We ordered the following for a party of two: * Gỏi Cuốn Tôm Thịt - Traditional Summer Rolls ($8.95) * Bánh Xèo Chảo Sài Gòn - Saigon Sizzling Pancake ($14.95) * Bánh Hỏi Thịt Nướng - DIY Rice Paper Rolls with Grilled Pork Skewers ($21.95) * Tôm Rang Bơ Tỏi Mì Tỏi - Garlic Prawns with Garlic Noodle ($21.95) * Trà Trái Vải - Lychee Ice Tea ($7.95) * Soda Chanh - ($7.95) Everything was delicious -- as close to authentic flavors as you're going to get in the area (South San Jose). My only feedback would be to have more fresh veggies for the Banh Xeo and DIY wrapping, and maybe a more traditional dipping sauce -- the fish sauce wasn't potent enough for me, haha. Service was excellent. Between rotating servers supporting the outdoor patio, we were checked in on a couple of times and were waited on promptly throughout our visit. Everyone who attended to our table did so with a smile and wonderful enthusiasm. All in all, I was happy with our experience and would gladly return to try other menu items.

Didn't realize this restaurant was more than just a Pho noodle place due to the name. Then I saw the many pictures of all the sizzling plates and what drew me in were the lemongrass pork skewers because it brought me back to my mom's home cooking and the days when she used to make them. I used to help her... painstakingly slicing, marinating, skewering and barbequing those mouth watering skewers. Sadly, the taste didn't live up to the hype. It fell short of all the childhood memories in the taste category, but visually, it was there. Service was great. The filet mignon shaking beef with rice (Com Bo Luc Lac) was pretty good but did not have very much meat. A lot more vegetables than meat. Had they added about 4 more cubes, it would've been worth it. Could be a little more savory and saucier too. The combo of wok-seared filet sizzling plate was the bomb and definitely worth coming back for! So tender and flavorful, albeit a bit thinner than most skillet filets. These skillets were all served with delicious pate, sliced sausage, 2 sunny side up eggs, a big loaf of fresh French bread or steamed rice, a salad with vinagrette dressing over pickled carrots, daikon and a bed of lettuce, and a nice hearty pho broth to wash down your meal. The fried chicken skillet was good but had a lot of Chinese five spice seasoning which I am not the biggest fan of. It was tasty though. Definitely that filet mignon sizzling combo plate... yummm!!! 4 Stars alone for this dish, their amazing sides and great service!

I am usually very skeptical about pho places in South San Jose. This place really changed the narrative for me and my family. Everything we ordered was DELICIOUS. We definitely found our new go-to spot!

Pho was alright, but the broth tasted hella heavy on the MSG On top of that, a whole receipt flew into my soup from the server... and yeah I still ate it lol. Drinks took forever to come out too. Overall not terrible, just definitely could've been better.

From First Visit to Instant Favorite I had lunch at Pho 408 with my son, who has been here many times, but this was my first visit--and it definitely won't be my last. The restaurant itself immediately stood out to me. I love the layout and décor--it's welcoming, spacious, and thoughtfully designed. The bar seating is beautiful, the tables are comfortable with plenty of room, and there's a great outdoor patio area that I'm already looking forward to trying when the weather warms up. The staff was friendly, accommodating, and attentive from the moment we arrived. Service was impeccable without feeling rushed. Now the food--absolutely excellent. The pho was served with the option of fresh rice noodles, which made a noticeable difference. I ordered the rare slice of steak pho, and the portions were generous compared to most places. The steak tasted fresh (not frozen like you often get elsewhere), the vegetables were crisp and plentiful, and the broth arrived piping hot--exactly how pho should be. We also started with the garlic butter wings, and they were so good that we ate most of them before I even remembered to take a photo. That probably tells you everything you need to know! Overall, Pho 408 is easily one of the best pho spots in the area. Fresh ingredients, great service, and a welcoming atmosphere--I highly recommend it.

Came here for lunch and overall had a solid experience. We started with the fresh spring rolls -- super fresh, packed with herbs, and the shrimp was plump. The dipping sauce had great flavor and balance. The garlic noodles were really good -- simple but flavorful, nicely seasoned without being too heavy. The pork BBQ platter was well grilled and flavorful, and the portion was generous. We also ordered No. 35 (beef platter) which came with rice, soup, and salad -- great value for the price. The beef was tender and nicely cooked, and I liked that it felt like a complete meal with the sides included. Service was friendly and the food came out quickly. The space is casual and comfortable -- good for a relaxed lunch. Overall, solid Vietnamese spot for comforting plates and good portions. Would come back.

Wow. This place is legit. It's located inside the mall right next to 99 Ranch. The restaurant was decent sized and pretty clean. The service is very good. They checked on us multiple times for water and other things. My family ordered the pho dac biet (combo). The broth was perfect. The fresh noodles were great also. My favorite was the Bo Ne sizzling plate. Everything that I ate there was really good. I'll be coming back here more often.

I've eaten at Pho 408 multiple times and the quality has always been consistent. Just because the location is at mall don't let it fool you. The pho and other food options on the menu are very good. Service has always been very great here as well, they always greet you and make sure you're taken care of. It's such a gem to Oakridge mall. The pho broth has been consistent and savory. The #1 combo pho also is packed with a lot of meat. I always leave so full and have it in my rotation of favorite pho spots in San Jose.

I went here for my anniversary dinner . It's conveniently located inside the oakridge mall , right in front of the 99 Ranch market . There were quite few people inside the restaurant when we arrived on a Friday at 7 pm but they didn't make us wait too long to get seated . Once we were seated , our server came and explained us some of the dishes . Food was super duper good and the portion size was really large . We realized after a while that we ordered more than what we can have . We had to bring some of it back home . I really liked the fish sauce wings and the caramalized catfish . It came with 3 full pieces of catfish , rice , salad ,broth and the server asked me if I would like to have spicy dip kinda thing with it and he warned me it's is quite spicy . I had that as well . Everything was super good . We were there with our kids and the staff was super caring and made sure we are taken care of properly. The server saw my younger one struggling little bit with height of the table and asked if I need a booster seat ( my younger one doesn't like being seated in a child seat so I was happy with the booster) . All in all it was a really nice experience. I am gonna go back here soon .

I wanted to try a new Vietnamese restaurant for lunch and found Pho 408 was close by in the Oakridge mall They are located across from the entrance of Ranch 99 inside the Westfield Oakridge Mall. There is an ample amount of parking outside of the mall near the restaurant. The restaurant was decorated very nicely with many seating options. When we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the staff and quickly shown to our table. We were given menus and cold water was quickly brought to our table. After the browsing the menu we decided to order. I ordered the vermicelli salad bowl with pork skewers and my husband ordered the hot & sour with catfish served with rice. We also ordered the imperial rolls to share. Our appetizer came out first. The egg rolls were piping hot. You only get 3 per order, which I thought was strange. Usually at all other Vietnamese restaurants you get an even 4 egg rolls per order. They were pretty amazing. They had a nice crunch and were filled with pork and shrimp. The dipping sauce was very good and had a bit of a spicy kick. We really enjoyed them. Our main entrees came out. My husband enjoyed his hot & sour fish soup. There was quite a large portion of fish inside it. My vermicelli salad with pork skewers was amazing. I think out of all the Vietnamese restaurants we've gone to where I've ordered this same dish, this was by far the best I've had. The grilled pork was so juicy and full of flavor. The vermicelli and salad were amazing with the fish sauce dressing. It was outstanding! The service was also excellent. I needed some soy sauce and they quickly brought me some for my meal. The portion size of the food was large. I would definitely come back again. I'd like to try their five spice chicken rice plate next time.

    Pho Dac Biet. Extremely flavorful.

A lot of varieties to choose from including vegetarian options. There is outdoor seating, clean, and inviting space. Service was warm and relatively quick. Gavin ordered their com bo luc lac and I ordered their pho dac biet. I have been sick for 3 weeks; tested negative for the flu and covid yet I am not getting better. I should have eaten a vegetarian diet today per the lunar calendar, but I was not feeling well, and wanted pho. Skeptical at first, but I was quickly proven wrong. The broth is clean and flavorful. A generous amount of tender cuts of meat and tendon. The herbs were fresh. Gavin took one bite of the shaken beef and became a fan instantly. We will return. Next time I will ask for iced water. They gave us room temperature water when we sat down (major plus), but I typically don't want to be a difficult customer, so we just let it be.

The banh khot was warm and crunchy. I love when you can taste hints of coconut and when the garlic is suuuper strong lol The garlic noodles were alright tbh. My friend and I shared a Northern spread (Bun Cha Ha Noi) and a Southern style Goat Curry (Banh Mi Cari De). Service was definitely on the slower side that day, but thankfully we were proactive at getting the orders in. The Bun Cha Ha Noi was delicious - pretty much a DIY spring roll - all the fun, all the mess, with none of the clean up other than licking the plates clean. The pork belly was delicious; I was surprised how much I liked it, since I'm not a fan of pork. I devoured numerous rolls, and we also had some extra vermicelli to finish off the rest of the protein. This single meal was definitely more than enough for two! The Banh Mi Cari De (goat curry) was unfortunately quite the opposite. The goat was cooked very well - tough, gamy, and difficult to eat. There were probably six pieces in total, our first was tender, our second had bone, a little harder to chew, and the last was best compared to rubber. The curry was a bit watery, which made the banh mi soggy when dipped in. This was probably an adventurous try, but not a dish I'd ever consider ordering again.

It's a grilled tumeric fish dish that packs a ton of flavor, and you add noodles and herbs to make a delish spring roll (or in my case a fat burrito). If you can't find parking in that plaza, there's more parking across the road where the Target is. After spending about ten minutes on the written wait-list, our names were called. It's definitely a little easier communicating with much of the staff if you speak Vietnamese, and I find that waiting right outside the restaurant is best because they default to calling your name from the door once it's your turn. The interior is crammed with tables; the atmosphere feels busy and warm. There is a single room women's bathroom and men's bathroom in the back as well. The decor leans toward being classic more than trendy, which I liked. The menu is pretty big, offering a variety of items ranging from mainstream Vietnamese options to ones I don't encounter as often. I recommend eating family-style for many of these dishes, including the Bún Chả Cá Lã Vọng, which I enjoyed with my partner. The prices are pretty average, and their portions are generous. That said, they are cash or Zelle only. There is an ATM that you can use if you forget to bring cash, but this is still something to keep in mind. Overall, I can definitely see myself coming back. Banh Xeo: I appreciated the display and aesthetic of the dish, although I wish that there was slightly more pork. The dish still tasted great, with its fresh vegetables as a side. Fried Chicken with Rice: This dish was simple and had a generous portion size for its price. I loved the tenderness of the chicken & how crispy it was.

Dining is available in the original indoor dining room or in the newly expanded dining room next door. Air conditioning was on the day of my dining although it was quite weak...making it slightly uncomfortable. Started off with the steamed rice roll with grilled bbq pork. The rolls were gigantic as well as quite price at ~$18 a dish. Moved on to the vermicelli squres with the grilled beef that was served on a large plate to wrap table side. Portions are also gigantic and perfect for sharing. They offer a points system via FiveStars to get free food after a certain dollar amount of spend. As of 6/10, cash and credit card are now the same price. Service by the uniformed staff was efficient. The vibes from the Gen Z cashier were lit.

Hits the spot and doesn't disappoint! Not too many people can make this dish as it should be made and they truly did a phenomenal job! Always a go-to. Their garlic chicken wings are amazing as well. It's the best out of all their flavors offered. Can't go wrong with ordering it. Crunchy, hot, slightly sweet and garlicky. Service: 5/5 stars. Greeted and seated quickly. Environment: 5/5 stars. Clean and plenty of space between tables. Bathroom is clean and tidy.

We ordered a large bun Bo hue, a large pho luc lac, fried rice with ribeye cooked medium level (as recommended), Bo luc lac with tomato flavored rice, and a chicken pho ap chao to share amongst 3 adults and 4 kids. Everything we ordered was delicious, tasty, and the portion size were very good and perfect for sharing. I was pleasantly surprised with the pho ap chao, it was really tasty and crispy and a dish I have not tried before. We really enjoyed everything but the Bo luc lac (shaken beef) was super tender and the beef was flavorful! This is a must try in my opinion! This restaurant is clean and tidy and has cute decors of bamboo hats hung from the ceiling and remind me of being back in Vietnam again. Staffs were attentive as customers entered. Plenty of parking spaces in the plaza. I will definitely come back here for everything I tried during my visit and to try more when in the area or on the way back from Santa Cruz. This will also be a great place to grab Togo for picnics or for hiking as well! My kids are already asking to come back to the restaurant after our first time there. So glad to know of another Vietnamese restaurant that has so many yummy dishes in SJ!

The standout dish was the egg rolls. They arrived hot, golden brown, and perfectly crisp, with a satisfying crunch and a flavorful filling that made them the best part of the meal. The food, however, wasn't the reason for my rating. The restaurant's cleanliness left me concerned. I noticed cobwebs that appeared to have been hanging in place for a long time, along with dirt and grime collecting in corners throughout the dining room. Even the menus felt sticky, with a visible film of grease and small food particles still clinging to them. The faded print and worn condition made them look as though they hadn't been replaced in years. Those details created an impression of neglect that made it difficult to relax and enjoy the meal. With a thorough deep cleaning and some updated menus, this restaurant could create a much more welcoming dining experience. Until then, the cleanliness issues overshadow what was otherwise an average meal.
