For a new Pho restaurant in town, the food prices is pretty reasonable, but you get what you pay for because the food portions are smaller than other places. The Pho is good not great for me. I ordered the Pho Dac Biet and didn't feel like I got the Dac Biet experience because there just wasn't enough meat and it all got lost in the broth. The meat tasted fine though. The broth smelled lovely, but on the sweeter side, and tasted little bit sweeter than I like. I also tried the fish sauce chicken wings and although the wings were small, the chicken wings were fried to perfection and the sauce tasted pretty well-balanced. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here, but if I was shopping, hungry, and craving for Vietnamese food, I would stop by to check out the other Vietnamese food options they have. read more

Pretty solid spot for being apart of a Mall/Shopping Center. I ordered one of the beef pho's with fresh noodles and the broth came out really nice and clear. The staff were really sweet and provided whatever I needed to spice up my bowl. I'm not a fan of the type of chili oil they had but didn't mind trying it. Saw this place open up inside Oakridge Mall and thought it seemed promising. The restaurant looked nice/modern and the menu had a lot of different items to choose from. Service was good and it seemed like all the staff were trying really hard to provide the best service they can with it being a new restaurant. Pho Tai Bo Vien (4/5): Good noodle portion with a ton of meat. Price is reasonable as well. The biggest critique I have is that the broth was too sweet. Both food and service are fast. Everything is seasoned fairly simply - I couldn't taste more than salt and maybe pepper. But there also seemed to be some additional flavor (maybe the oil). It's all delicious, especially the Saigon sizzling pancake appetizer (A7). The particular crisp of the pancake was very satisfying. Me and my family stopped by over the weekend to check this place out. As expected for a new spot, the service was great. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The renovations towards the interior decorating is much nicer than the previous place. We ordered a few bowls of pho, some chicken wings, and a couple drinks. The pho was a bit too sweet for our taste and didn't have the pho flavor we were hoping for. There's only one bowl size, and they charge $1.50 extra for fresh noodles. The meat portion was fine, but nothing special. The chicken wings were actually really good, crispy and juicy. But at that price for just four wings, it felt kind of steep. What really stood out were the drinks. They seem to be working with local spots like La Ca Phê, and their egg cream coffee was a nice surprise--tasty and reasonably priced. They also had a good rau má (pennywort drink) and fresh sugarcane juice, which we all enjoyed. Overall, the drinks and friendly staff are the highlights here. A newly opened Vietnamese pho restaurant. The place is clean and spacious, and the staff are fairly friendly. Pho Noodle - 3/5 We ordered the No.1 Special Pho and the No.12 Beef Ball Pho. The server enthusiastically told us they offer both regular and fresh noodles. The fresh noodles are the wide, flat, and soft kind, so we immediately chose those. What the server didn't mention--or perhaps deliberately left out--was that fresh noodles cost an extra $1.5 per bowl. So when we were unexpectedly charged extra at checkout, it definitely left a bad impression. That said, the pho itself was actually quite tasty. The broth was rich without being overly salty, and the noodles did have a nice texture just like the server described. However, the portion size was shockingly small. Saigon Sizzling Pancake - 1/5 It was a very thin pancake with just a tiny bit of seafood. The pancake was basically soaked in oil and had no flavor at all. If you're someone who enjoys drinking oil and eating food with no taste, go ahead and try it. Otherwise, definitely skip this dish. Glad to see a new pho shop opening in the mall. We arrived at 5 Thursday night but the is place got popular pretty fast after that.. They have variety of food and pretty innovative about the drinks. I was working a wedding in San Jose and needed to charge my car. So, I stopped by the mall and to my surprise, there was a Vietnamese restaurant right next to the chargers. I looked at the menu and saw a photo of their Bánh Xèo, and oh my goodness... it looked so good I had to try it. When it came out, I couldn't believe how perfectly cooked it was. Crispy on the outside, fresh and flavorful inside. It honestly took me back to my time in Vietnam. I haven't found a Bánh Xèo this good anywhere in San Francisco! The Vietnamese ice coffee had the perfect balance of which coffee and creamy condensed milk. It was packaged in the cutest little cup with a heart stopper. Such a thoughtful, detail-orientated touch. This review was for take out only. My coworkers and I ordered some food for lunch. We got spring rolls, the pho special, beef rib pho, and the beef chow fun. For drinks we ordered a pennywort with coconut foam and and the berry bliss. My Vietnamese friend thought the pho special was just ok and she was upset that it didn't have meat balls. My white friend thought the broth can use more flavor. The spring rolls was two rolls cut into fourth, and 3/4 of the rolls broke before I even touch them. The location is convenient -- situated in the mall next to 99 Ranch, where Superdish used to be -- which makes it an easy choice for a casual meal after shopping. We arrived on a Sunday evening, and while the restaurant wasn't busy, we initially chose to sit outside for some fresh air. The staff informed us that outdoor seating had ample heating, but unfortunately it was still quite cold. My father had to return to the car to get a jacket for my mother, and we ultimately decided to move inside, as did several other tables. After relocating, there was some confusion with our order. Our drinks were first brought to our original table outside and mistakenly offered to another party before they made their way to us. Despite the mix-up, the drinks -- particularly the coco grass jelly pennywort and the coco cane -- were very enjoyable. We also ordered the fish sauce chicken wings as an appetizer, which were flavorful and well-prepared although the chicken wings were a bit on the small side for the price. My parents' pho arrived shortly after ordering, though we noted an upcharge of $1.50 for fresh noodles. Was bummed that Super Dish closed since it's the only authentic Hunan spot in South San Jose. But I was pleasantly surprised by the diverse menu at Pho 408, which took its place--especially excited to see Chao Bo Ne on the menu, since the wait at Bo Ne Phu Yen is always over an hour + I haven't been able to find any Banh Xeo place since the one in Grand Century food court closes! Thiên Long wins hands down 5) Mini salted egg yolk Chinese doughnut with egg creme filling - menu showed cut-up 油条, but we got two short whole ones instead. Thought it will be coated with egg yolk outside but turned out it's filled with it (think 流沙包 but not as lava). The egg cream was rich and delicious, but not enough 油条 to go with it. Very tempted to grab extra 油条from the 99 Ranch food court for $3, or bring the leftover cream home and fry up a 3-pack of frozen 油条 for $6 6) Homemade pandan soymilk - can definitely tell it's not the artificial kind. It's perfectly sweetened with hint of fresh pandan flavor. I asked for less ice but it still came pretty full of it, which watered it down a bit. 7) Coco Grass Jelly Pennywort Juice - Refreshing with chewy grass jelly and a cool, earthy flavor. I can't express how happy I was to learn this pho place opening in Oakridge mall. We went for the first time and ordered two bowls of pho and the crispy tofu along with a drink. The broth was amazing. It was light, clear and delicious. The tofu wasn't the best, but wasn't the worst we had. Tried Pho 408 and was seriously impressed. Ordered the S3 sizzling beef rib combo and it was amazing. The beef rib was super tender, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The pâté was creamy, and the bread was real Vietnamese bread--not the usual baguette most places use, which I really appreciated. I also ordered a Vietnamese coffee and it was spot on--strong, bold, and authentically Vietnamese. The service was attentive and friendly.
