Listen, it's taken me a while to get to this Tendernob place. I enjoy a hearty bowl of pho ga and have found my favorites like Pho Ga out on Noriega (review: https://yelp.to/HD-RV4FKRA) and Golden Lotus in Little Saigon (review: https://yelp.to/RHKY1aveLM). But, hey, I'm an open-minded pho slurper, and I can always add another favorite if the business warrants such a lofty designation. I came in one afternoon and was their only customer. It was no surprise I ordered the $14.95 Chicken Noodle Soup (Photo 7). That's their pho ga in case you were wondering, and I first have to admit I was a bit bummed that they didn't offer gizzards, livers, and hearts as optional add-ons. I'm an innards type of guy but not here. When it arrived, the pho itself was decent with plenty of chicken with the skin left intact. A plus for my taste, and the noodles had a pretty good chew. Really nothing outstanding about the broth, but I did finish it. Nothing much else to say since the manager was chatting with her friend throughout my time here. FOOD - 3 stars...decent, no-frills pho ga AMBIANCE - 3 stars...nothing fancy in here, spacious enough SERVICE - 3 stars...didn't feel the love myself TOTAL - 3 stars...workaday Vietnamese spot on Geary amid a lot of other choices in the 'hood RELATED - Exploring the Tenderloin? The front having a computer set up for the owner's kids to play told me all I needed to know about the place. No homework was being done during my time there but I'm sure it's a rite of passage the kid has gone through before :) Owner's were friendly and food came out quick and was a good portion for the price.

    Banh coun

Staff was super nice and friendly. Got the banh coun and pho!!! super delicious. I would comeback to this place if I ever visit sf again.

Came here on a Wednesday, and got seated immediately. Ordered the pho ga & the rare steak/well done flank pho and both were delicious! The broth was rich & warm. Service was fast & very polite. Both bowls about $15 each & generous portions. Would definitely go again for some good inexpensive pho.

First impression: a nice humble restaurant with a few tables and chairs a billiards table, an altar and a nice china cabinet. The food: Rare Beef Pho, the broth is super rich without being overly salty or heavy. Really tremendous all on its own, no siracha, hoisin or chili sauce needed! But I just had to add some siracha for a little hint of sweetness and some spice. Sooooo goood. I'm traveling from out of town and while we were walking around looking for another Viet Restaurant we found out they only take cash. And I had none. We meandered around looking for other options when we were graced with Pho 808 and I don't regret it! The lady running the place, is graceful, quick and attentive. I'll definitely come back here when I'm back in SF!

A solid place to grab some pho at affordable prices. The broth really hit the spot. The noodles were also good too.

Service was nice, my soup was amazing but the establishment can use a good cleaning. I didn't like sitting next to dusty furniture and a dusty window sill while eating my soup. Every time I moved the dust moved. The soup isn't the best I've had but it was good for sure. I had the beef pho

I've been hanging in San Francisco a bit & taking advantage of all the Vietnamese restaurants & unfortunately they are in some pretty raunchy neighborhoods but it didn't deter me from going. So off I go for dinner while there is still daylight. The restaurant is absent of any ambience, plastic table cloths, typical low budget decor and too much clutter exposed. The altar with their diety had clutter surrounding it too. It's a pretty large space so there is lots of excess stuff. Now the food, I ordered a beef combo with vermicelli, it comes in a large bowl with a couple greasy vegetable rolls. As I was eating & challenged myself with chopsticks I found all the glorious salad, mint & cucumbers at the bottom of the bowl and if I didn't dig a little I would not have been able to include them in my bite size morsels. It made the meal more satisfying. This place gets good reviews for the food, portions & price.

Pho,shrimp spring rolls and imperial rolls

Very good spot for pho I also had their spring rolls and imperial rolls very flavorful, the lady there is very nice not sure if it's her son or grandson that cooks in the kitchen but the food is good and worth your money,it gives small pop and shop vibes, family owned vibes.

Came here on Friday evening and got a table straight away for two. Ambiance is casual and good for quick meal. I had the vermicelli bowl with shrimp and egg roll and it was very tasty and good portion size. Husband got pho with rare beef and flank. The flank pieces were a bit too fatty compared to other places. Broth was tasty. One of the better places for a cheap and cheerful Vietnamese meal in the city!

I ordered barbecue pork with egg roll and vermicelli rice. It came in a very big bowl. They served me hot tea. Very flavorful fish sauce, is served the long side. Delicious food everyone come here. The owner Shih shion wu it's very nice and polite.

This is more a review for the food. I liked the food pictures and reviews I saw on Yelp so I put in for a delivery. I can say the food was delicious and they do read the instructions you put on your order. Mine was, "No plastic utensils, but two pairs of chopsticks is most appreciated. Plenty of napkins and lots of hot mustard. Other condiments not needed." Delivery was within 35 minutes. I would totally order delivery from them again.

Some dishes were better prepared than others, but overall, the food was solid across the board. If you enjoy making your own spring rolls, you'll love the grilled pork skewers. The pork is super tender and has such a incredible flavor profile of lemongrass, garlic, fish sauce, and more. Rolled up with the woven vermicelli noodles and fried wonton crisps in a rice paper, you get a wonderful combination of texture in a single bite. The other crowd favorite of the night was the bánh xèo -- the stuffed rice crepe. The bánh xèo here is by far the best one that I've ever had, even surpassing ones I had in Vietnam. The outside was insanely crispy and and was surprisingly not particularly oily, while the inside was loaded with fillings. Two other dishes that were well received by the group was the betel leaf wrapped grilled beef and the sugar cane shrimp. The beef had a very similar flavor profile as the pork, but the texture was a lot more lean. The shrimp had a bouncy, yet firm texture to it, and was very well-seasoned. My only qualm with the shrimp dish is that the sugarcane did not actually have any sweetness to it. There's fish sauce on the table along with a shrimp paste sauce, but to be honest, every dish we had was so flavorful on its own, the sauces aren't even needed. The only dish that we ordered that fell short was the grilled river shrimp. The presentation of the shrimp is impressive and very photogenic, but the flavor was lacking and the cook was inconsistent. Some people had shrimp that was undercooked -- borderline raw, and on the other end of the spectrum, others had shrimp that was so overcooked, that it was very difficult to remove the shrimp from the shell without completely tearing the meat. That said, everything else we ordered was well-prepared, and very tasty. Service was good throughout the meal, and I would definitely come back again for a meal with a large group. 4.5 experience rounding up to a 5.

The last two Saturdays in San Francisco have been not as sunny as people want them to be. One thing I always like to get in those days soup. When the sun is down I go to get Pho Ga at a Vietnamese restaurant. So I decide to pay An Chi a visit. On a weekend stroll on Geary boulevard in SF I landed at An Chi. Inside there is plenty of seating and it has an interesting and welcoming decor. The menu has everything from Banh Mi to different Buns like Bun Rieu to Bun Cha Gio Ga Nuong. I decided to get Garlic Noodle with Five Spice chicken. The noodles were like Angel hair but with a garlicky taste. I then I got the Pho Ga and the broth was tasty and it was refreshing . The noodles were fresh and chicken was tender. Overall a great place to grab Vietnamese food in SF. It feels the Fall has already "begun" when there are days in the Summer where there is barely any "sun "and some visitors and tourists get surprise and some are "stun"but you can get something warm like some some Pho along with some "bun" Go to Geary which is a boulevard and not a "street"where they serve lemon grass and bbq "meat" the Summer in SF isn't always sunshine and trying to hide from the "heat"it's also enjoying Pho and garlic noodles which are like Angel hair because An Chi is a good place to "eat"

The staff were both friendly and attentive; they even jumped in immediately to help another table with a spill, which was great to see. We ordered our usual, banh khot. Although this time it wasn't as crispy as I remembered, more fluffier this time, it still satisfied our cravings. We did have to ask for cilantro though since it didn't come with it. Also ordered the grilled pork vermicelli with egg roll. It was a big portion. It came with 2 pieces of thin but big pieces of grilled pork. The pork and dipping sauce was on the more sweeter side. Still need to try their Banh xeo next time.

Amazing service - We felt that we were very well attended to. We didn't have to flag anyone for service. It's as if they know exactly when to check on you. The lighting was soft creating an environment of warmth and the HVAC system did its job of keeping everyone comfortable. Great balance. One valuable tip - if you do not already know - fork in some garlic noodles into the crab shell so the pasta gets coated with the mustard colored crab fat. That experience is the peak of gastronomic pleasure. Chardonnay was my choice for pairing. Service, at least upstairs in the large but rather austere room, was done by a very direct waitress who seemed to be either used to culling tourists, or was being very direct about the menu, possibly both? We were essentially told to order garlic noodles, crab, beef, veggies, and not much else. Now to be fair those dishes were all good to excellent, particularly the crab and the garlic noodles, with friends absolutely raving about both. Seafood fried rice was good as well, although portions (aside from the crab) were not large, so expect to order more dishes than you might expect. The overall meal was very tasty, the physical vibe worked, but the menu felt more limited than expected, and combined with the terrible parking in the area, it didn't feel like the exceptional meal that was hyped.
