Please note that the menu changes daily. We waited a while for the food. So be prepared. We sat in the back dining area and it was super hot. The food was good the hot and spicy noodles had a better flavor and the steak in it was good. The pork belly had bones which was a first. They forgot our appetizer and it was too hot to try the dessert. I would go back but not until it is cold outside.

LOVE this place. FABULOUS sesame soba noodles and tofu for vegans. Pre-vegan me went nuts over the pistachio cake. Bought five pieces. Best cake in world IMHO. Nice place and service. One of the better places in DeLand.

Just had dinner at Mongoose in DeLand and wow -- everything hit. Started with their chicken wings and they were absolutely delicious -- juicy, flavorful, and you have to squeeze the lemon all over them to brighten the whole bite. Then I had the Hot & Spicy noodles (they come with steak, and I added pork belly -- yes to both) and the spice level was perfect: warming and savory without overpowering the noodles. For dessert they had a pistachio cake from a local baker (they drop fresh cakes off to the restaurant) -- delicate, nutty, and the perfect finish. The vibe is cozy and fun; I'll definitely be back !

Service was amazing, we got seated immediately and waitress Alyssa, was very attentive, refilling our drinks often! She recommended some great dishes and we enjoyed all of our noodles! My husband got the Hot and Spicy with Garlic steak, I got the Yakiudon and it was sweet & refreshing, my friend got the Red Dragon with an egg. We also ordered the 2 cakes: pistachio and mango. Both were so good. Healthy slices and not overly sweet! Hit the spot. Would highly recommend and will be back. There's indoor and outdoor seating, parking spaces by the restaurant and across the street. Cozy location too. The menu rotates & is short & sweet, which I don't mind because you know they've perfected the dishes.

Looked up places nearby to eat and saw this place had great reviews. First off, the look and feel of the place is amazing. It's like a renovated house made into a restaurant. Interior is homey which makes sense cause it's an actual home. The service is welcoming and patient. Very communicative of what's available or not and answered any questions we had. Now for the food. I had the sliders and the taco and it was delicious! The sliders were my fav. I highly recommend them ! The tacos were good but nothing compared to the sliders. I also had the spicy noodles a little that my friend had and wow that's spicy. If you like spicy and I mean... spicy, then it's for you. Overall I loved this place and I'm hoping I can go again while I'm in town. Recommended!

Cute little restaurant where service was great! Food was phenomenal! If you like spicy this is the place because when they say "hot" they mean it! Will definitely be back!! The only con is they run out of food, like fried rice.

Everything was flavorful , the spicy beef was very spicy and we got medium lol the peanut sauce is bangin , my daughter enjoyed the cold soba noodles.... I do think the menu is very limited , if you don't want noodles or tacos this isn't the place for you. We wanted to try the egg roll and ramen but it wasn't the night for it. Maybe a better assortment of things would be better like ramen, egg roll , tacos, noodles? The service was great even though i think there was only one server tonight... the atmosphere is super cute though.

After having a glass of wine in downtown DeLand, it was time to eat. And it was well worth the 5-minute walk off the beaten path to Mongoose. It's located in a nicely renovated old house and we sat on the porch. We were greeted with a big smile from the staff. After being seated, our waiter explained the menu. It's not very big, and it does not need to be. We ended ordering almost everything for the 3 of us. 3 of each taco, Hong Kong noodles, Sesame noodles, and the sliders. All was delicious. If you can't decide, I highly recommend at least one of each taco and the HK noodles. We will be back.

I was able to find parking just down the street, but there is not really a lot of parking in the downtown area of Deland, so be forewarned. The outside is quite unassuming, and as the place only takes up a single "slot" in the row of shops along the main street, it is quite narrow inside. Not a problem for me, as I was alone, so taking up a small table near the entry was not a problem. I was greeted when I walked in and told to sit anywhere, so the small table was perfect for me. Inside is decorated relatively sparsely, but it is appropriate. The menu is what you would expect in pretty much any pho house, if you have been to a few. I went for a standard beef and meatball pho and the summer rolls, as I do love a good summer roll. They of course came out first, and I started in on them as I read my book and waited for the pho to come out. Both dishes were quite good, and if I am in the area I will absolutely be returning. It is a good heartwarming food experience, and in the colder months it is a perfect way to warm up a bit.

This place is really classy and authentic and isn't your everyday ordinary Cuban restaurant. This place is great if you just want to grab a sandwich or you want to have a special date night and relax while enjoying a meal you won't forget. Tey have indoor and outdoor dining, and I noticed the tabletops are made from high end Quartz with gold metal flake and the decor and lighting sets the mood for an incredible dining experience. My first time here I ordered a Cuban sandwich meal, and it was absolutely the most incredibly delicious Cuban sandwich I have ever had anywhere and the service was top notch.

We had friends visiting and decided to come in on a Saturday evening without reservations. We were…read moretold there would be a short wait, which was completely fine, and we didn't mind spending about 20 minutes upstairs on the rooftop enjoying the DJ and atmosphere. Once seated, we were placed in the second dining room and ordered drinks, four appetizers, and our entrees. Unfortunately, from the start, the table was not properly set. We had no silverware, no napkins, no side plates for sharing appetizers, no coasters, and really no table settings at all. For a party ordering multiple appetizers and drinks, this immediately made service feel disorganized and inattentive. The issue became even worse when our entrees arrived and, almost immediately after, staff started stacking chairs around us at approximately 9:12 p.m. We had only been seated maybe 15-20 minutes earlier, so as a party of five on a Saturday night, we certainly did not expect the restaurant to begin visibly shutting down while we were just starting our meal. What made it even more frustrating was that these tables were already available when we first walked in, despite being told there would be a wait. Since we were entertaining guests, we thought this would be a great opportunity to show off the rooftop, which is such a great feature for a small town like DeLand and has so much potential. Instead, the experience became embarrassing and disappointing. Having staff stack chairs and place them on tabletops in the middle of our meal felt incredibly rude and unprofessional. It created an uncomfortable atmosphere and made us feel rushed out rather than welcomed. When we asked to speak with a manager, the response we received was that "the servers have to go home." That explanation was unacceptable. Paying customers should never be made to feel like an inconvenience, especially while actively dining. With my own background in restaurant service and management, I found both the handling of the situation and the manager's response to be extremely poor. As a DeLand local, this was especially disappointing because this restaurant has been making improvements and adding entertainment, which we were excited to support. Unfortunately, the poor service and lack of professionalism completely overshadowed what should have been an enjoyable night out.

This scratch kitchen spot has quickly become one of my favorite places in town, and after our recent visit, my guests and I were all blown away. The food was absolutely amazing, impressing everyone at the table so much that we're already planning our next trip back--definitely going to be regulars from here on out. Everything is made from scratch with fresh, high-quality ingredients, and you can taste the care and love that goes into each dish. Their menu is creative and diverse--think insanely good hand-crafted sandwiches, burgers that are huge and perfectly executed (juicy patties on toasted buns, cooked exactly to order with complex, flavorful toppings), hearty salads, quiches, sloppy joes, and daily specials that keep things exciting. We tried a mix of items, and nothing disappointed; flavors were bold, portions generous, and every bite was packed with that homemade goodness. The homemade desserts and rocking sweets are worth saving room for too--they're the perfect finish to an already stellar meal. The vibe is cozy and welcoming--cute little spot with indoor/outdoor seating, great service that's attentive and friendly (staff makes you feel like family right away), and it's in such a charming part of Artisan Alley next to the brewery, perfect for a casual lunch, dinner, or just hanging out. They even offer delivery and catering if you want to bring that magic home or to an event. BakeChop is the real deal--a local gem putting heart into food, family, friends, and good times. If you're in DeLand and haven't been yet, stop waiting and go try it. You won't be disappointed; we'll be back often for sure! Highly recommend calling (386) 873-6524 or checking bakechop.com for the menu and hours. Keep up the incredible work, team! 1computeroutlet , 1websitenow

There was a market going on that we enjoyed exploring on our way over to the restaurant. It's not very big on the inside but does have tables inside and out. The meat was very juicy and flavorful. I enjoyed all the onions. It made for a solid meal. The old bay potato chips were a good pairing for the burger. My mom ordered a more traditional burger and she liked it. I noticed the bakery item display and it had a good selection. I deducted 1 star for customer service. While the food was very good, the service did not feel warm. Our server felt very cold and was short with us. She never once cracked a smile and it almost felt like we might have been bothering her by just being there. I wish we had a friendly server because it would have made the experience much more enjoyable.
