Pho 954 is my pho go-to, my preventative medicine, my comfort bowl. I ordered my usual.... seafood pho. I will say -- it didn't have quite as much seafood as I'm used to seeing in the bowl. And the plate of greens looked a little tired, like it had spent a bit too long in the fridge uncovered; some of the leaves and sprouts were starting to brown. Even the two slivers of lime were brown on the edges . They were also out of Thai basil. But then there's the broth. Deep. Rich. Layered. Whatever small shortcomings showed up today disappeared the second I started eating. It was absolutely delicious -- complex, savory, and exactly why I keep coming back. The place was packed on a Wednesday night. Lights too bright and noisier than usual. My server - a very sweet young guy - seemed overwhelmed and he never checked back in. First I'd like to say, when we go to a Vietnamese food spot, my wife is very picky and she loved the pho here. We had the large grilled chicken pho. Definitely enough to feed two, maybe two and a half lol. I had the Rolls with the peanut sauce which was legit. Later following week, we got delivery through UE. She loved it again... we got a winner here folks. I also had the grilled pork chops with fried egg and rice, absolutely delicious. I've been to Pho 954 several times. Cute and clean Vietnamese restaurant with a nice variety of Vietnamese dishes on the menu. I've tried the Bún Thit Nuong (rice vermicelli with grilled pork), the Bò Kho (Vietnamese beef stew) with rice noodles, and Pho Gà (rice noodle soup with chicken). I've enjoyed all those dishes: every one of them has come out from the kitchen perfectly seasoned with the right condiments and delicious. Not all Vietnamese restaurants in this area offer Bò Kho on their menu. So, I often make a special trip to Pho 954 for the Bò Kho. This is Vietnamese Beef Stew, served either with rice noodles or with crispy baguette. I always order mine with rice noodles. Bò Kho is a dish with complex flavors made with lemongrass, fresh ginger, five star anise, and cinnamon. It takes a while to cook. I made it once: it turned out great, but was more work than I'd care to repeat! The wait staff is courteous and friendly. Service is very prompt. Also, I find it reassuring when I hear the cooking staff yelling at each other in Vietnamese in the kitchen!!! The pho broth had a really strong cinnamon smell to it. It was a clean broth though. The pho dac biet here gives you meatballs. Most places up north don't. But it's also $20+ compared to Boston. Kind of ridiculous lol The banh mi was ok. I'm starting to like that most banh mi places here use the Publix bread. It's different . It's so good when it's toasted. Pho 954 is always a yes in my book especially if I'm having a rough day! I always get the grilled chicken veggie ramen and egg rolls. The broth is fantastic, not sweet at all. I love that the egg noodles are tender and the ingredients are fresh. The service is fast and efficient. Our servers are always polite and accommodating. We were seated immediately on a right night. It's not loud, which I love because everyone is so focused on enjoying their yummy food! Side note* try not to sit by the door. Wow is this place doing things right. I've been coming 1-2 times weekly for the last 3 months and they have me hooked. As soon as you walk in someone kindly greets you and lets you know you can take a seat where ever you like. Service is always good the staff is soft spoken and always in a good mood. Now the food, appetizers you can't go wrong. Ive had the firecracker shrimp, spring rolls with shrimp/pork and the egg rolls are also delicious. My only critique would be to devain the shrimps prior to cooking cause I noticed they were not when eating and that could be a major turn off to some. Soups: the beef stew tastes as if someone grandmother is in the kitchen putting her love into every bite. Pho is always Devine the broth has really good flavor and it's always piping hot and cooks the meat to perfection. The vegan pho is also a huge hit whenever I come with my vegetarian peeps. I am a huge fan of the sandwiches, I love the beef lemongrass but also the char-sir pork sandwich. The bread is perfect for dipping in your soup and the table comes with a nice variety of sauces to spice things up. Drinks: don't leave without trying the condensed milk coffee, my entire office is now addicted and has to order at least once a week. The boba & milk tea options are great can't decide which is my fave. Would definitely make it a priority to give this place a try and support your local small business. More like a 3 ish or 3 1/2. We had a good lunch here. We started with their fresh spring roll with shrimp. It was made to order and came with a tasty peanut sauce. We shared -- each having one roll -- as there were two rolls to the order. We kept the sauce to add on to our other food later. I got their number 18. This was pork on top of noodles with "salad" type veggies. A small dish of fish sauce and a small dish of chopped peanuts was served on the side. My husband got a similar dish, but with the small fried eggroll pieces added on. I like to eat the hot food in the dish first. I added some hoisin sauce to season the pork pieces. And then I use the fish sauce like a salad dressing for the lettuce and pickled veggies. My husband added some of their garlic and jalapenos to his meal along with hoisin and some of the peanut sauce. We both liked our food. Was it the best we'd ever had? No, but it was good. Service was good, also. In fact, everything came out quite fast. I'd wanted the spring roll first, but it was served immediately before our entrees. That was the only glitch service wise. The other three couples who were there when we were -- who were Asian -- were all dining on pho (soups). So, this might be what we should have ordered. The restaurant is called "pho". I've only ordered the Pho from here. It's ok. They give a decent amount of meats and toppings. They are sometimes stingy on the broth which when you consider the cost of a soup, they should be giving a decent amount of all ingredients. Never at inside the store always do take out. It was a lazy Sunday afternoon when we came by . We were seated immediately, and the restaurant was spacious, bright, and very clean. Our server was polite and efficient As we were planning on just a late lunch, Ee decided on trying out their Ban Mi sandwiches and the spring roll appetizer. Very disappointing experience. I came here with my 14-year-old daughter and ordered two bowls of pho. The restaurant was nearly empty, yet we waited about 20 minutes. When the veggies arrived, it was a tiny plate for one bowl. I asked for more and was told the kids' pho doesn't come with fresh vegetables at all--just broth, noodles, and beef. That was never explained when ordering. When my daughter's beef pho arrived, the meat had white dots throughout it. The waiter said it was cartilage from sliced meatballs. That is not what we ordered and not appropriate to serve to a child without explanation. I asked to replace it with chicken pho. After that, we were ignored for 38 minutes. No replacement dish, no check-in. We ended up sharing my seafood pho. When I finally asked what happened, the waiter just said "nothing." It felt like we were intentionally ignored after requesting a refund for the beef pho that was originally ordere. Poor service and very unprofessional. We won't be back. read more

Nice decor, spacing dining area; I particularly liked the wall wrap showing the history of pho in the U.S. (and the in the context of the Vietnam War and migration of Vietnamese to the U.S.). The food, sadly, is lacking. I have a ton of good Vietnamese options near me, particularly in Philly, so I compare everything to that baseline, with consideration that the level of quality can't be matched everywhere. Still, we looked at the reviews and thought this would be a safe bet. First, they don't use the familiar sriracha hot sauce as a condiment. I don't know what to call what they use, but it's different. The pho broth was a bit oily and something seemed to be missing from the flavor. Second, and I measure most of the Vietnamese restaurants by their pork chops, I was disappointed with their porkchop and rice dish. The porkchop was way too think and was unevenly grilled; and the meat was too tough to enjoy. We do plan on vacationing in the area again, so I hope that Asian options continue to grow. As a gateway, Pho 954 may be adequate to newbies, but they are going to have to improve their product if the market grows. read more

I'm still thinking about this place's bahn mi (after 2 weeks). I really enjoyed it! For those of you who know about bahn mi, you know that a lot has to do with the baguette. . I have to say. Their baguette was pretty fresh and perfectly crunchy on the outside but soft in the inside. I'm going to have to make a trip to Deerfield again just for these bahn mi. Highly recommend. I went with the standard one last time but look forward to trying their other ones as well. Also, even though I didn't have it last time, my party gobbled up all their pho, summer rolls, and rice dishes as well. Although, one thing I noticed was that their grilled pork chop looked a little different. It seemed like it had maybe a sauce on it rather than the usual grilled look to it. In the area for lunch and stopped in to try this place out in a familiar strip center. We received a friendly greeting and were seated at a four top within view of the kitchen. Our fellow dining patrons who appeared to be Asian were enjoying different types of Pho for lunch. (Hint hint) My wife and I both enjoy a good fresh Spring Roll (she likes it with just shrimp, no pork) at various Vietnamese restaurants. They come two to an order with peanut sauce to share, We placed an order for the spring rolls and then continued to look over the menu. When our server returned, I went with a pork and noodle dish with the salad on the bottom of the bowl. Mine also came with fried egg roll pieces served on top to add some crunchiness to the bowl. As we waited for our spring rolls we observed quite a few takeout orders being assembled and picked up and thought that might be the reason for the delay of receiving our rolls. Finally our spring rolls were delivered with a very good peanut sauce and before we could take our first bite, our entrees were brought to the table. The food was good and the service was too. Perhaps maybe we should have ordered the spring rolls and not have ordered our entrees until after we had finished the spring rolls...just glad we didn't order dessert.
