Slam here doing lunch on a Wednesday!
    Allen L.

I'm in this restaurant in numerous amount of times this place is always solid. My secret hidden gem. This restaurant has been around for quite a long time and it's always solid every time I go. The soup is always hot and flavorful and the produce and noodles are always fresh. This spot is locally loved by many. Definitely if you want a fair price for a nice bowl of noodles or some good Vietnamese food come to the spot. There is reason why this restaurant has been in the community for so long quality solid!!

There isn't a lot of great Vietnamese food in the San Leandro area. I've tried most of the local spots, and when I'm craving pho, my go-to places have been Pho Auntie in Castro Valley or Pho Huong Que and Pho Ao Sen in Oakland. I've passed by Pho An Hoa plenty of times but never stopped in until I saw someone on Reddit recommend it as one of the better options. I came by during weekend lunch and it was pretty busy. I ordered my usual pho chin bo vien, which is pho with brisket and beef balls. I also got a side of scallion oil since I like a richer broth. For takeout, I added an order of eggrolls because a lot of people on Yelp mentioned they were good. I was pleasantly surprised by the pho. The broth has a slightly sweet flavor, the brisket was tender, and the portion size was generous. The eggrolls, though, were disappointing. I'm Vietnamese, so I know what traditional eggrolls should taste like, and these were missing key ingredients like glass noodles, wood ear fungus, and taro. They tasted more like Chinese-style eggrolls filled mostly with cabbage, though at least there was some pork in them. I probably wouldn't order the eggrolls again, but I'll definitely come back for the pho since it's close to home.

What an amazing find in San Leandro!!! When I'm not stuck in the 'burbs, I love to explore different restaurants. We found Pho An Hoa on Yelp. Drove to it around 8pm on a Friday night. It was pretty packed. Must be good. Their menu definitely had more options than what I'm used to so I ordered something different: GỎI CUỐN TRÁI BƠ or Avocado Spring Rolls: What I love about them is the peanut sauce! So good. CƠM CÁ BÔNG- LAU CHIÊN DÒN: A generous size of perfectly fried crispy sole filet with a side of rice and steamed veggies. Ooh!! So delicious. They had me with the piece of butter on top. I would order this again. HỦ TIẾU BÒ KHO: Beef stew with rice noodles. Flavorful sweet broth. Very filling. Friendly staff.

Been coming here for 10+ years but won't be coming back. The taller lady at the register is super shady. Check your receipt when you're dealing with her.

Vs. what was delivered. Entirely different

Photo vs. Reality. My job orders from here monthly but I decided to switch my order up only to be deceived by the photo on DD vs. what was delivered. To make it worse the sauce sent was not sweet and sour but spicy.

Been here three times (twice in person and once for takeout) and finally getting around to reviewing this place. Must say their pho is much better than their bun (vermicelli) and that eating in makes all the world of difference. I got their #10 (L) which was generously portioned and well flavored, but I wasn't a huge fan of the well done brisket. When I went back recently for take out, I asked to switch out the well done brisket for the fatty brisket and I think they ended up giving me a #14 instead. Hoping the next time I go back I can get the ttuen#10 combo with the variety of meats and just switch out the well done brisket for the fatty brisket.

Summary of our experience: good food, bad service. Their #10 pho dac biet was really good. It had a generous amount of meat and good broth. Not sure what their #23 is about. It said crispy brisket, but the meat looked the same as the #10. The menu had additional authentic food options. We particularly appreciated how they included pictures and descriptions. Anyway, food aside.. the rest of our experience was pretty meh. It took awhile before anyone took our orders. They also didn't come by again after bringing our food to the table. Payment is done at the front. Weird moment here for us. They didn't like it when we picked up the machine.. but come on it's not like we're going to run off with it or anything.

This was my first time eating at this restaurant. We came in to eat a late dinner so there was plenty of parking available at the time. Others in the group have eaten here and said the food was always good. There weren't a lot of people in the restaurant as it was after 8 p.m. so we got service right away. We ordered the shrimp spring roll for an appetizer. It was delicious. I ordered the beef stew with egg noodle soup. I brought part of it home as it was too much for me to finish. The beef stew was still delicious when I ate it the next day. Beef noodle soup and grilled pork chop were also ordered. Everyone said their dishes tasted good. I will definitely be coming back to this restaurant.

It was our first time here and we enjoyed the food. The service was excellent. But the menu are sticky! That was a turn off. That's why they are getting a 3 Stars

Pho Dac Biet and Bo Kho
    Crystal H.

We ordered pho dac biet and bo kho through DoorDash. The broth was perfect favor! Not salty at all. They gave a lot of beansprout and toppings. There was only large and X-Large size available. They have flat noodle (ho fun), egg noodle, clear noodle for $1.50 substitution. Good quality food.

Tried Pho An Hoa today and went with the Grilled Pork Vermicelli. The pork was grilled nicely, really flavorful with a nice char, and the portion was huge. Definitely didn't leave me hungry. The restaurant is clean and comfortable, and the sauce that came with the dish was decent but it did the job. Service was pretty fast and friendly. I'm a big fan of Vietnamese food, and overall, this spot hit the mark. The only downside is the price, it's a little on the expensive side for what it is. Still, the quality was solid, and I'd come back to try more from the menu.

To be honest, Fusion used to be terrible, and I used to absolutely hate coming here. Food was slow in coming, what came out was often cold, the dining room was loud, and service was impersonal, at best. On one visit, half the menu was unavailable, requested silverware was crooked, and numerous glasses, bowls, and plates were chipped or damaged. On another visit, I saw multiple families sneak out of the restaurant, walk to McDonald's across the plaza, and smuggle food back in to tide them over until their orders came. After a while, I wasn't alone in meeting the decree of, "come to Fusion on Saturday," with a groan. However, when HL Peninsula opened in Castro Valley and established itself as a threat to Fusion's business, it served as a wake-up call. Food immediately got better (from "below-average" to "know what to order and you'll be fine"), the speed of service improved, and food temperature became consistent and proper. It's not QUITE a "different restaurant" feel, and there are still some negatives. It's still loud and service could still be better (there have been times where chicken wings have taken over an hour to come out, which is a "should not occur"). However, at least I don't dread coming here anymore.

There's usually a pretty good line right by the register, so this place is pretty well known by the Asian locals. Shrimp Wonton Noodle Soup ($16/2*) First outing here I sat for lunch and tried this. Surprisingly disappointing seeing how busy and popular this place is. The wontons were okay, decent flavor with a strong sesame oil presence. But they weren't that plump and luxurious, just seemed like homemade/amateur versions. Which is fine, except given the nicer restaurant feel, I just expected something more elevated. The noodles were fine, super thin egg noodles that had a nice QQ. BUT their broth was so bland and unremarkable that it kinda ruined the whole experience. I couldn't even taste/detect the protein that made up the stock, just tasted like murky liquid to me. And zero condiments on the table, so I just ate the wontons and the plain tasting noodles cuz the broth couldn't offer anything to the noodles. Womp womp. And their bowl of choice is very weird to eat from. Super tall bowl that if you leave a spoon in there it will sink and be submerged for you to fish out...in piping hot liquid. If I would have reviewed this place just on this one visit, then it surely would have been a sub 3* rating. But I knew I couldn't leave my impression with that one lone visit. Roast Duck - Half ($20/4*) Came back for some take-out deli items and I was handsomely rewarded. Total 180 experience from the soup outing. Their ducks here are slightly more expensive than most others for the area. But it is still worth it imo. They cut it with good skill and even for a take-out box they present it nicely, with the shape of duck still somewhat intact. The skin is not crisp at all but it is very well rendered. Some pieces were not that salty at all but some other pieces are well seasoned, which I thought was strange. But overall a very solid roast duck is to be found here. There's also a big scoop of these tiny beans that are slightly sweet almost like baked beans just not as gloopy. But the bean texture is very al dente, almost crunchy, which I found very strange. Macao Roast Pork w/ Rice ($19/4.5*) This is crazy good...I'll even say special. Super seasoned pork belly is roasted til the skin gets crisp...like chicharon status, except it is just a very thin layer of crispness. So the balance between the sturdy crunch and juicy flavorful meat was practically perfect. It is definitely on the salty side, almost the same intenseness as eating Spam with white rice, but white rice offsets those salty components beautifully. And they garnish this massive plate with perfectly blanched gai lan (Chinese Broccoli) and some other pickled greens that add a nice sweet and tangy component. So between the decadent pork, white rice and diverse greens offerings just made this a complete one stop shop that could make a regular out of me. There's also a Share Tea next door so I've got a harmonious tandem going on here. Lucky Ducky Me yassss!

We ordered a dessert of sticky rice sticks that was intended to be crunchy but it wasn't so I'd skip that, not really worth it.

The space feels much brighter, cleaner, and more upscale than before, making it a wonderful environment for everything from a casual family breakfast to a larger celebratory gathering. They've managed to create a contemporary look while keeping the welcoming energy alive. The Food: A Noticeable Step Up While the new decor is great, the real star of the show is the improved flavor and quality of the dim sum. You can tell they've refined their recipes and perhaps brought in some fresh culinary talent. Here were the standouts from our meal: Baked BBQ Pork Buns (Cha Siu Bao): Absolute perfection. The tops had that ideal, sweet, crumbly crust, and the pork filling was savory, rich, and not overly gelatinous. Shrimp Dumplings (Har Gow): A true test of any dim sum kitchen. The skins were perfectly translucent and delicate without tearing, packed with plump, snappy shrimp that tasted incredibly fresh. Siu Mai: Flavorful, juicy, and well-seasoned. The texture was spot-on--not dense or heavy. Egg Tarts (Dan Tat): The puff pastry was beautifully laminated and flaky, holding a perfectly smooth, warm, and subtly sweet egg custard. Service & Value Despite the upgraded ambiance and food quality, the service remains efficient and attentive. Teas were kept hot and refilled promptly, and the dishes arrived fresh and steaming from the kitchen.
