I'm not sure if this Pho Ao Sen is affiliated with the one in Oakland because that location has always delivered well with pho and Bun Cha Ha Noi. The food here was not good. The pho was bland so we doused it with hoisin sauce. The meat in the Bun Cha Ha Noi was tough to chew on. The service here is a problem. I had to flag someone down to take our orders and the food took a while to come out. There were multiple tables that needed to be cleaned but they were slow to do so. The restaurant is nicely decorated but the subpar food, high prices, and lack of service does not make up for it. read more

The food is not only always delicious, but the menu definitely feels more authentic than other Vietnamese places I've been to. I wish this place was opened sooner! Probably one of the better viet places in this area! My bf ordered a pho and I ordered #35 vermicelli with shrimp and pork. The pork was nicely flavored and the shrimp was cooked perfectly. Both of the entrees were great! We also ordered nem nuong which was good. The addition of the crunchymakes it great! However the sauce they provided with it is just okay. I asked for chili peppers, which they provided, but they also gave us a house sauce, which was amazing. Typical food offerings here, but one glaring omission. Chicken! I feel like a lot of people don't eat pork and beef, but will eat chicken. So please consider some grilled chicken, rice noodle, and spring roll combos! Those are the best. Ordered standard phos and spring rolls. Both very good. Pho is in a huge bowl and the broth was very flavorful and authentic tasting. Filled up the belly really nicely. Quick service too. A touch pricey, but what isn't these days? My family has always been a big fan of Pho Ao Sen in Oakland. It is our go-to place always. So to my delight and surprise, when my wife and I decided we wanted to go have Vietnamese food we found that the owners opened up in Livermore. When we sat down, I had not made the connection yet. But I saw the owner and thought he looked familiar and then I looked at the name of the restaurant and made the connection. The location is right across the street from the Outlets in the newly developed shopping center. The restaurant is so roomy and clean. There is a mural on the wall that I love. See picture ~ The food was so delicious and very comparable to the location in Oakland! My wife is not often a fan of noodle soups - Pho. But she ordered a beef pho and enjoyed it thoroughly. We also had the goi cuon. I had the Pho Ga (chicken) with the ginger dipping sauce. My wife had a taste and she loved it that she asked for her own ginger sauce. However, I sat for 30 minutes, after being sat initially was never acknowledged. Multiple staff members passed by my table, sat other guests, even took their orders before mine. I rarely crash out, but this place made me so upset. 4.3 stars? If this place is 4.3 stars, I'm a unicorn. I have been to dozens of pho spots across the world, and I have never been so let down. I'm Asian and you can count this as a credible review. Do not come here, do not waste your precious time, money, and calories on this place. I have not been so disappointed in a restauraunt in years. Oh man, let me paint you a picture real quick. I handpicked this spot that was #4 on Yelp and drove out 15 minutes out of the way bc I trusted the reviews and pictures. First of all, you're basically paying $20 for a bowl of large bowl of pho. $18 for a medium. You will not pull the bowl trick on me. There was probably 4-5 bites of noodles in my large pho and 3 thin slices of meat. I measured my large portion to my girlfriend's medium portion and I just felt so disrespected. Both portions were the skimpiest thing I've seen. I'm not trying to be cheap by any means - I don't care about how much money I pay for food if it's good. I'M A REAL EATER. But for pho standards this is taxed - and if I'm paying this much for a bowl of noodles, it better not taste like dishwater. I told the owner how I felt as well. He thought I refund would make up for it but I would rather he just did a better job. He knows back home that this bowl is $2 to $3 dollars and he is serving a disgraceful bowl of pho. I get we're in Livermore, but don't try to serve some lazy gentrified flavorless pho. Also the Vietnamese iced coffee just tasted like some vanilla creamer. Do you know how hard it is to mess up a cup of Vietnamese coffee and a bowl of noodles and soup? No spoons or napkins at our table as well. We asked for napkins multiple times, they never came. I had to go to the bathroom to get napkins to wipe off the grease on my hands from these 3 eggrolls for $12. Every pho spot I've ever been to, they take your order within 5 minutes. This place took almost 15 min to take my order and it wasn't even packed out. This place is STINGY and a RIP OFF. Service is horrible, food is horrible. I've never had a pho spot make me feel so out of character and crash out like this. Disgusting, wouldn't come back here if you paid me. I feel betrayed by all these reviews. Do better owner. My mind is blown I even have to write this review. This was a disgrace and I was embarrassed to come here. Update after 48 hours: I had diarrhea and hit the bathroom probably 4 times after lunch. Response to owner's comment: Of course there wasn't any food left on the table, there was barely any to begin with. You think that if I'm starving and going to be paying $20 for a bowl of pho I'm not going to eat it? I was complaining loudly about the poor service and food quality at my booth the whole time for everybody to hear. My girlfriend looked you in the eyes and asked for napkins as well and you ignored her and walked away. I walked up to the counter to pay (because who knows how long it would take to get a bill to the table) and when asked if everything was ok, I gladly let you know. We tried to get your attention but the service was horrible and you ignored us. How would anybody hear about it until then if no staff was attending to us? So let's not attack my integrity on this one and act like payment was ever an issue. I promise my disappointment for bad food outweighs any monetary value on any day. Yes, there are plenty of restaurants in the area, but I specifically chose yours and made a big mistake. Learned my lesson! read more
