As a long time customer of pho bac, I used to absolutely love their bun bo hue. It was sour, spicy, filling, and the meat was so abundant. However, their quality had gone down this past year. My friend and I both got bun bo hue and my bowl had less meat than hers. Our broth was also lacking in flavor (used to make me sweat) and the noodles were actually hard. We made a special trip to here was because of Mike Chen's beef bone noodle soup episode. However we should have stopped by the Jackson location. The $16 (incl. tax) beef bone noodle soup was unique and tasted good. We gave 3 stars was because the outside environment is messy. Inside is dark and old, strong greasy smell of fried food in the air. There are bars on the door and windows for security purpose. We thought we went to a wrong store. I came in for lunch earlier this week. The exterior is a bit run down; there were cracks in the glass door, and there are bars around the exterior making it look like it was closed. When you enter, you choose your own seat. I wasn't aware of that, so I stood at the door for a but before I was greeted and told to choose a seat. I ordered a small size of pho, and for the price it was a good amount of food. I had more than enough to be full! The broth was good and there was a good meat-to-noodle ratio. The servers were nice, but they forgot my request for pickled onions for my pho. By far the BEST PHO you'll ever have! Don't get fooled by it's cover, once you try the soup that they make , you'll keep coming back for more . The best pho in town! I have been coming here for about 4 years now and nothing has changed. The pho is so authentic and flavorful. It comes with a good amount of meat. You know it is good when you do not have to add hoisin sauce for flavor. As a matter of fact I usually don't add anything else because it's so good. Also, ask for their special oil on the side to add flavor to your broth. You won't regret it. For additional sides we usually get egg rolls which are bomb since they put meat in it. Also, Chinese donut is an option as well but they do run out so get there early. I love their iced coffee and coconut juice. The iced coffee comes dripping freshly made and their coconut juice comes with full coconut pieces. The food is bomb and their service is quick and efficient. You seat yourself and usually someone will come over to place your order within minutes. They have a bunch of people working and if you are in need of anything anyone is willing to help. The interior does need some TLC but that's what makes the place so special. It's a hole in the wall family owned place but 5* for their delicious food and friendly service. read more

UNBELIEVABLY TENDER. I've never had that kind of beef in pho. What do they do that makes it so soft?! It's best to use all of the basil in your pho. Roll the leaves and tear them into your pho. Their basil leaves are fresh, bright and crisp. The only "downside" is that they are cash only, but they have an ATM with a $3.50 charge. The building is a bit old and parking is around the corner of the street. The inside was very spacious. Service was prompt and courteous. I ordered a simple pho tai while my friend got another pho bowl. The food came right away. What really struck me was their attentiveness. There are a variety of dishes on the menu but we only had Pho since we all love Pho so much. The restaurant has a funky design on the outside and quite messy inside, with stuffs piling in a corner of the restaurant. Overall decor is old and funky but the bowl of Pho is delicious. The broth is creamy, rich, beefy, tangy, delicious and always comes out hot. One sip and I'm in PHO heaven. The noodles are plentiful and cooked to perfection. Not too chewy or soft. The brisket has always been very tender. The meatballs taste homemade, very soft, flavorful and doesn't have too much of the tendon consistency that some meatballs do. They do not skimp out on the portion size, there is always more meat than I can eat (very good thing). The egg rolls are always fresh, deeply fried. However, as we are driving away, (one may argue that this review was written hastily in anger), I cannot wait another moment to warn visitors that this place served me a small bowl of pho tai with a piece of METAL pierced through my flank round steak piece. I discovered this sharp piece of metal not with my eyes, but with the act of mastication. In case you could not guess, it was a painful bite. Always searching for new found pho places. It's quite the trekking ordeal to find us a damn good bowl of pho. Some are waaaaay too salty, or cloudy, or bla. You never know what you are gonna get. But I was reaching over often during dinner to dip into his bowl for some if his tasty broth. ;) But my god the minute I tasted my Bun I was in a double sided heaven of vermicelli noodles!!! As for the place itself...well...lets just say I wanted to dash to the door as fast as i could without being included in a drive by.
