In the effort to try something new every week, and need a warm bowl of noodle soup, I did a quick search and saw that Pho Cafe was a place ive never been. Came in on a weekday night, and was the only one in the restaurant before more people started to trickle in. Quick glance at the menu, I decided to go with the #2 spicy beef and pork noodle soup. The broth was very tasty and heartwarming. Good depth of flavor and didn't need anything added into it. The noodles were very soft and easily chewable. The only reason I wouldn't get this again is because the meat that was in it wasn't my fav. Kinda had me wish I went the traditional beef pho route. Either way I still left full and satisfied. $16 for a giant bowl, not bad for the amount that you get. All the soup bowls come in regular or large with a $2 difference between them. For normal size appetites, the regular size bowl is perfect. I'd opt for the large if you are looking for a little extra to take home. read more

I want to preface by saying I want to support local and give what seems like a good mom and pop establishment some productive advice. At first, I thought I had walked into the wrong restaurant because it looked like it had the decor of a Japanese restaurant, but I looked again and I saw the Vietnamese food reference. There is booth seating and some standalone tables. I came with my wife and two small children, and as usual, we said table for four and we would need a high chair. I thought I would get seating at the standalone alone, but instead they offered to clean a booth and give the following guest the table. I was like, okay, but that meant it took longer for us to get seated, and that meant the little kids would be more antsy. Well we got the booth, which was cute, but the issue with us with kids in the booth is the table is too small for the size of the stationary chairs, so with my other small kid on the booth we had to scoot the table closer to her and my kid in the high chair sat at the open end meaning I had to sit next to her. I think for most adults, they could scoot the table to the middle or to one corner and adjust the table accordingly without worrying about the open end, but since I have a kid in a high chair, we wouldn't just sit in a corner. So I spent the entire meal with a 12-inch gap from the stationary seat and had to really reach to eat. Kinda annoying, but you do what you need to do to make the kids comfortable to eat. One dish we really wanted to try was the Bun Rieu, which is featured on the outside window, but unfortunately, they didn't have any that day, which was a bummer. We ordered the Banh Uot, which was fine, but the annoying part was that the pork meatloaf was the kind with the tendon and the whole peppercorn. Which I don't mind, but since I had kids, I had to pick out each peppercorn. Ideally, you would either call out on the menu that it will be that type of meatloaf or let the customer have a choice. The Pho Combination had decent flavor, but the large bowl was huge, and the portion of noodles and meat was lacking. I typically don't like to leave a bad review, but these types of experiences make it harder for me to want to come back. Food was great. However, customer service was really bad. Unfortunately, we were served by a rude and dishonest waitress (who claimed to be the owner of the restaurant) during our visit. Me and my partner went there on Nov 1, around 10pm. Everything was going well until it was time to leave. The waitress was charging us for to go containers for our leftovers, which is fine, to be honest. But when we asked to get just 3 containers instead of 5, I guess that upset her because she had to revise the bill. The revision then included a service fee of $8 and convenience fee of $2 which wasn't there in the first bill. I asked her what the service fee was for and she said it was for tip. I asked for it to be removed because tip is not legally mandatory, and service charge is only usually for 5 people or more. Then I asked if I could speak to the management but she said she's the owner.. So it's just safe to say I wouldn't be coming back to a place with dishonest servers trying to scam you into paying more. Check your bill before you pay. Make sure everything is correct. I was kind of upset because I really liked their Laksa, but lowkey scared they might put something in my food. PS. I always leave a tip for servers. My wife and I frequent this place whenever a craving hits us for a nice, piping hot bowl of Pho or a Crispy Ban Mi. The restaurant itself is always clean and well kept. This place is run by a wife and husband couple, and they're extremely pleasant and genuinely nice people. Their staff are efficient and fast when it comes to making the food. I've tried about half of what's on their menu so far, but my favorite dish by far has to be their combo Ban Mi. The bread is flaky and crispy on the outside while being soft and cloud-like on the inside. The pate is so good I always ask for extra. It must be said that they really load up the sandwiches with a ton of meat, making it an even more worthwhile choice. On a cold day, nothing beats their rare beef Pho. I always get the small size and they really hook it up with a generous amount of noodles and meat. The broth is always that perfect balance of savory and sweet. Lastly, I'd recommend their Five Star Rice plate, simply because it has a little bit of every kind of protein in it: shrimp, chicken, pork, egg, and a mound of rice. Do not sleep on this place! I ordered two Vietnamese chicken sandwiches, but when we picked them up and opened the packages at home, we discovered that they were completely different sandwiches. I called the restaurant to address the issue, and they said they could only exchange them. Since I live quite far from the restaurant, making the trip back wasn't worth it for me. The manager spoke with the employee who took my call and confirmed that my order was indeed incorrect, which is why the only option was an exchange. I then asked if they could adjust the price instead, but the manager began yelling that it wasn't possible. This was a terrible experience! If you're placing a phone order, make sure to do your due diligence and check your order in person. The staff taking phone orders don't seem to fully understand the requests, and this can save you time and money! read more

Late post! Came here for lunch with a friend on a really sunny and light windy day. Even with the open neon sign and posters, I feel like it's dark and would miss it. It was quiet inside. Few customers in there already but no one was talking. I felt like my friend and I were extra loud. So keep your voices down. The waitress was really nice and patience with us while we decided what to order. Food came out fast. Bowls were huge! Price is cheap, we like cheap! We ordered regular combo, laksa noodles, spring roll & fried egg roll. Size of the regular was more like a large, it was 3 times my hand. Flavor of the soup was spectacular. This place HAS THE BEST PHO. I wish I could say I had other things but i honestly only get pho at Vietnamese places. With that being said I've had pho from all over California and this is by far the best I've had. The rare steak was the best quality I've ever seen in pho.( like wagu) The size small was a large portion and the broth was delicious! I felt like Pho for dinner but didn't want to wait long for a table at our 2 usual places so I suggested Pho Cafe. Parking was easy and upon entering, we were the only customers. My husband questioned how empty it was. I assured him that it got high ratings on Yelp. I ordered the Beef Pho and Imperial Rolls while he ordered the 5 Spice Chicken with rice. My soup was very good and the Imperial Rolls were super delish. The rolls came in 4 fat pieces compared to 6-8 thinner pieces at other restaurants. My husband's 5 Spice Chicken serving was small and tasted average to him. Service was great though. I wouldn't mind coming back for the Pho and Imperial Rolls. I was craving a hot bowl of noodles in soup and Pho Café was 15 minutes away from my hotel. I got there a little after 8:30pm and was seated right away in an empty restaurant. Since I knew they were closing soon, I looked at the menu really quickly and placed an order with the waiter. I got the combination beef pho and egg rolls. They give a small portion of bean sprouts and basil. I was dining with 3 people, and I feel like other pho restaurants are more generous with their bean sprouts and basil. Anyways, my pho and egg rolls came out fast and it was hot temperature wise. The pho hit the spot and warmed me up. There was nothing fancy about the food and I just needed it to satisfy that craving. I don't think I'd be able to find this restaurant again since the GPS may have taken me on a longer route. Given the name, I expected to see more pho options on the menu but it was actually quite limited. I decided to get a regular bowl of their pho #1 which was a combo of different meats. Portion of meat was a little small, but enough for me. The noodles were all sort of stuck together when they first brought the bowl out, although it eventually separated after sitting in the broth for a while and with mixing on my end. The dish itself was flavorful although what stood out to me the most about our meal were the spring rolls. My bf and I tried to Laksa Soup and the Beef Pho. It was both alright. The Beef Pho noodles were a tad over cooked and mushy. The soup tasted a little sweet and not super beefy. Decent portion size but my bf did not want to finish it. The Laksa soup portion was also decent and came with lots of protein. It smelled really good, but the soup flavor was a little lacking as well. I thought the Tang Bar in Stonestown Mall had more flavor :( Most likely won't come back since it was just an average experience for both my bf and I. Glad I tried it once though! read more

Have you ever tried putting tomatoes on boiled water? Yeah, it tasted exactly like that. The tomato wasn't even boiled/cooked. It looks like it's fresh from the garden/market and dumped into the bowl after they pour the hot water/"broth". Grilled pork chop noodles soup: opposite of the tomato soup, this is too salty/sweet not in a good way. I think tasted more like instant pho seasoning that you can get in asian stores. The pork chop on the other hand, is more in the bland side but the seasoning also tasted off. I'll give them points for the portion though. My goodness, the laksa vermicelli soup was the star. This savory coconut-based spicy seafood soup was delicious and hit the spot. The fresh spring rolls were also delightful, and the broth for the beef pho was on point. Service is attentive and quick. Our server kept calling us "honey" -- reminded me of an endearing mom. The ambiance is your typical mom and pop pho shop. The decor doesn't match, but does it matter? Also, you know this is a legit pho place if the menu is full of misspelled items, and so I was pleased to see that on the menu. No pretentious stuff. Parking is plentiful, but I don't know what it is about this parking lot area that makes people consistently speed or drive very inconsiderately. For a restaurant space that's been a revolving door - I actually like this place in the area. Came here on a Saturday night for a pho fix with my husband around 6:30-7pm. It wasn't full or empty, so we got seated right away. There's a tv in our nook to watch football so my husband appreciated it. We had cha goi (fried egg rolls), pho, and garlic noodles with chicken. The fried rolls were good as it came with noodles and veggies to wrap with. The pho was also solid, but the garlic noodles disappointed me a lot. The noodles were all stuck together and not in separate strands, and overcooked as it was very soft and mushy. Was hungover and dying so I decided to walk up the street to finally check out this pho spot. Had to get myself a plum soda for my tummy. The egg rolls were bomb, I love when they use rice paper wrap. The pho was decent, could've been better. I think I'll try the bun riêu or bbh next time. I have found this place has egg rolls (with the rice paper wrap that I like). The wraps aren't thick like many restaurants in the US. It took me a long time to find a restaurant that could have authentic cha gio (egg rolls). The bowl of Pho (#1) is enormous. However, the rice noodle is too soft and broken into small pieces when served. It could do better with rice noodles for pho. Overall, the price is reasonable here - $14-$16 and egg rolls/ spring rolls appetizers are under $10. read more

Food: Ordered the Combo Beef Pho and the Crab Meat Tomato Noodle Soup. The beef soup was super salty, there was barely any meat in the bowl, only 5 slices of rare beef and 3 beef balls. I asked for the rare beef slices to be put on the side and they told me it's an extra $2.50 fee. I never heard of other places ever charing me to have my rare beef slices put on the side, it already came with my dish so why am I getting charge extra for it?! Utensils: Everything is served in plastic here except for the chopsticks which is wooden. If you're a health cautious like myself, I would not be coming back here especially having to use everything (including their teapots) in plastic. Overall not impressed by their food or the quality of their food. Would not recommend or come back. read more

It is a small cafe with three large table and four two person tables. Customer service is great. The food came out fast. The Crab Meat Tomato Rice Noodle was so flavorful. You can see the real crab meat in it. The Five Spice Chicken with Garlic Noodle is so tasty. You can taste the real garlic (a lot of garlic) and well balanced oil and salt, but the portion of garlic noodle is so small. Not worth $15. :( read more

Pho Cafe has been our go to for Vietnamese food. My sister and her fam came for a surprise visit and we're all craving for Pho. We've been here before so we knew what we wanted to order. Staff: Lily always greets us with a smile and is very welcoming. Food: we ordered the following: Fresh shrimp roll - love, love that the shrimps are huge and we get shrimp w every bite. Noodles are just right and not overwhelming. The peanut sauce is delicious, not too salty, not too thick or thin. It has just the right consistency. #1 - pho with no tripe. This is a fave of my sis and my daughter. They both got large and shared with two kids. #6 - five spice chicken regular size. This is one of my fave and my cousin actually ended up ordering one too. The chicken is marinated just right and it's not salty. The soul is not overwhelmed with too much noodles but definitely sufficient. I always have leftover for dinner or next day. My brother-in-law ordered 3 sandwiches. Pork, BBQ Pork and Egg. He was told that they added pork pate on the sandwiches w the mayo combo which was unique. The fixings are plentiful and seem simple but very delicious. The restaurant has televisions for entertainment. There's private parking but it does get filled up. Give it a try and enjoy! read more
