Me and my family went here on vacation in winter. there was like nothing open and as the good viets that we are, we wanted pho on the wintery day. this place was like right across from our hotel. we sat down and the lady was kinda scary but we ordered and it came out fairly quickly. me and my dad got pho tai and my mom got a stir fry since she is diabetic. my mom absolutely loved her stir fry and i chowed on the pho. it was some of the best i have had in a while and my Ba Noi makes the best pho your could imagine but this was right up there next to it. This place was really good. Service was fast and friendly and the food was flavorful. Atmosphere is nice and clean. Modern and updated with low lighting. It didn't bother my husband and I at all, but I know some people wrote in their reviews that it was too dark. We also went during the day so that probably helped . For appetizers we ordered the Vietnamese rolls and summer rolls. I don't recommend the Vietnamese rolls. The flavor is ok but they're tiny. Not worth 5 bucks imo. The summer rolls however were good and worth it. My husband even enjoyed them and he normally doesn't like the rice paper rolls. For our main course we both ordered the brisket pho, large and regular size. The broth is very tasty and not overpowering. If you find it bland, just put a couple squirts of hoisin sauce that's on the table. It gives it more body. There was a healthy serving of meat and noodles which were also very good. Definitely a thumbs up for the pho. We also ordered the shrimp basil fried rice. The waiter gave us the wrong order and we got the grilled shrimp dish instead. I brought it to his attention and he gave us the dish free of charge and put in our order of the basil fried rice right away. I thought that was very nice of him. He was the one who offered it, I didn't even need to say anything. He absolutely redeemed himself going above and beyond for his mistake. The shrimp basil fried rice is excellent. It was my favorite dish. The shrimp in both dishes were nice and big too and cooked to perfection. I definitely recommend this place and will be back. Was so excited to have pho in OC on vacation and with good reviews however was very disappointed. The appetizers were good and service was quick but the entrees were not good at all. The pho lacked flavor, had very little meat and I found a bug in my bowl after I already started eating. The bug was probably from the basil leaves but gross. We also ordered a basil fried rice but didn't eat any of it because it smelled awful like old reheated chicken. Food is good but the service is a big capital F. It took 1.5 hours for us to receive our food. Two reasons I am writing this: 1) because we spent over 2 hours there our plans for the rest evening were shot; 2) I'd really like them to focus on their service because the food is good. I wanted to leave after waiting for an hour but we had two very rambunctious 3-year-olds keeping us occupied and the other couple we were with wanted to stay. The thing is we ordered just after the dinner rush had ended and we were only one of two tables occupied. They have to work on the front side of the biz. It was last summer that I visited this place and the pho I ordered was just ok. I think it was a Thai restaurant as of last year. This year I think management has changed from Thai to Chinese maybe? Lol Regardless, the pho tasted better now and the service also improved. They even have Vietnamese coffee as well. Pho-Char Grill in a nutshell: decent pho, crappy service. There is a lot of potential here but service is so lacking that I don't think I would return. It's in a good location inside a popular shopping center with a Food Lion and plenty of other restaurant options. The inside is nicely decorated with quite a few tables. It's a good place to sit inside to escape the heat. The pho is pretty good. The Regular size is more than enough. The broth is the best part - very flavorful and rich. The noodles are also great. I enjoyed the Vietnamese Spring Rolls as an app, but they literally only give you two small rolls. It would be nice if they gave more considering the price. Service here is strange. The hostess was also our server and I'm not kidding when I say she didn't say a word to us. She simply looked as us, expecting us to tell us what we wanted. She would bring things to the table silently. She also brought over the check while we were still eating without asking if we were finished. We didn't know we were supposed to get up and pay at the front counter. Instead, we waited a long time for her to return, only to see she had sat down in a booth with another coworker. Very weird. There were also several children of the employees running around and playing. I felt like I was bothering them by needing them to serve us, which isn't a good feeling to have. Best pho I have had. I am vegetarian and they had vegetarian pho! So flavorful and full of veggies. I absolutely loved it! My husband for shrimp and loved it as well. i wanted to give this place a 3.5 but this is not possible, so i rounded up to 4. the large bowl of pho is massive in portion. typical pho additions including tripe, meatballs, eye round, etc. note that the rice dishes are not traditional vietnamese style. i got the grilled chicken with rice thinking it would be the bbq style vietnamese grilled chicken i was used to, however it was just a simple grilled piece of chicken. wasn't too thrilled about this. lastly, the summer roll has way too much lettuce instead of equal parts noodle, lettuce and shrimp. the decor and space is very nice and clean. there are outlets including usb ones near each booth for you to charge your devices. read more

I have both eaten in and gotten carryout a few times over the course of the past year. The spring rolls, Thai Basil fried rice, and pho are to die for. This is the first pho place in Ocean city. So of course I had to check it out. Atmosphere: Unless you get sat by the window, it's a little too dark.
