Food is good but the service is a big capital F. It took 1.5 hours for us to receive our food. Two reasons I am writing this: 1) because we spent over 2 hours there our plans for the rest evening were shot; 2) I'd really like them to focus on their service because the food is good. I wanted to leave after waiting for an hour but we had two very rambunctious 3-year-olds keeping us occupied and the other couple we were with wanted to stay. The thing is we ordered just after the dinner rush had ended and we were only one of two tables occupied. They have to work on the front side of the biz. All the little things that you come to expect from wait service is lacking. Pho-Char Grill in a nutshell: decent pho, crappy service. There is a lot of potential here but service is so lacking that I don't think I would return. It's in a good location inside a popular shopping center with a Food Lion and plenty of other restaurant options. The inside is nicely decorated with quite a few tables. It's a good place to sit inside to escape the heat. The pho is pretty good. The Regular size is more than enough. The broth is the best part - very flavorful and rich. The noodles are also great. I enjoyed the Vietnamese Spring Rolls as an app, but they literally only give you two small rolls. It would be nice if they gave more considering the price. Service here is strange. The hostess was also our server and I'm not kidding when I say she didn't say a word to us. She simply looked as us, expecting us to tell us what we wanted. She would bring things to the table silently. She also brought over the check while we were still eating without asking if we were finished. We didn't know we were supposed to get up and pay at the front counter. Instead, we waited a long time for her to return, only to see she had sat down in a booth with another coworker. Very weird. There were also several children of the employees running around and playing. I felt like I was bothering them by needing them to serve us, which isn't a good feeling to have. I would probably order takeout pho in the future, but because of the poor service, I wouldn't return to dine in. read more

It was last summer that I visited this place and the pho I ordered was just ok. I think it was a Thai restaurant as of last year. This year I think management has changed from Thai to Chinese maybe? Lol Regardless, the pho tasted better now and the service also improved. They even have Vietnamese coffee as well. Due to the covid 19, only take out and one table eating outside. I did get a take out for grilled pork chop with veggies and rice. Got it within 15 mins after went in and placed the order. The pork was good and tasty, the rice was cooked perfectly and the veggies were fresh. I would go there again if I go down to the beach. read more

Best pho I have had. I am vegetarian and they had vegetarian pho! So flavorful and full of veggies. I absolutely loved it! My husband for shrimp and loved it as well. It's a take away place right now but they do have a table outside where you can sit and eat. The waitress cleaned the table completely in front of us before we sat down and that was very reassuring. I ate outside on the bench service was super duper fast ordered seaweed salad it was fresh, spring rolls and fried shrimp were fresh, seafood combination pho - broth could be better but it wasn't bad but everything from noodles, shrimp, mussels and crabmeat was amazing and btw great quantity on large pho ! i wanted to give this place a 3.5 but this is not possible, so i rounded up to 4. the large bowl of pho is massive in portion. typical pho additions including tripe, meatballs, eye round, etc. note that the rice dishes are not traditional vietnamese style. i got the grilled chicken with rice thinking it would be the bbq style vietnamese grilled chicken i was used to, however it was just a simple grilled piece of chicken. wasn't too thrilled about this. lastly, the summer roll has way too much lettuce instead of equal parts noodle, lettuce and shrimp. the decor and space is very nice and clean. there are outlets including usb ones near each booth for you to charge your devices. read more

Finally, a legitimate pho spot in Ocean City! This is easily the "cleanest" tasting pho eaten in Maryland. No artificial flavors, fresh ingredients and delicious. It is a bit on the pricier side, but I'm guessing the location and quality has a lot to do with that. They also offer up some great beach-style pho dishes with lots of seafood options which I think is great! read more

Due to the lack of variety in terms of Asian restaurants in the area, I was ecstatic when Pho-Char opened to say the least. I have both eaten in and gotten carryout a few times over the course of the past year. The spring rolls, Thai Basil fried rice, and pho are to die for. I was shocked at the amount of goodies (bean sprouts, lime, sauces, etc) provided with the pho, even when ordering carryout. Fantastic meal. We had the spring rolls and seaweed salad for appetizers, and the combination pho and the brisket pho for our entrees. The pho was flavorful, had a generous amount of protein, noddles, and broth. I was reading some of the negative reviews and I can't disagree more. The pho had a ton of flavor. We decided to take a drive and pay them a visit anyway. The place turned out to be pretty small. We came in and stood around for a little more than 10 minutes. Everyone seems busy and they looked like they might have been under staffed. But after waiting for 10 plus minutes we got not a single word of acknowledgment. They knew that we were there as there were 4 of us. Not a single person even said hi. So we lingered for a few minutes longer to see if anything changes. High quality ingredients for delicious Vietnamese food. That was our experience in the off season where we had a Chicken Pho with bean sprouts so fresh they tasted sweet. For $5.95, we were impressed to get four whole octopuses nicely marinated in an onion salad. The edamame was also delicious and worth coming back to have more. Pho is very good although prices are higher than across the bridge. The pho broth is full of flavor and the meet is extremely tender. The Thai basil shrimp fried rice is one of the best. Amazing that they are able to get that "wok" flavor without using a wok to cook the rice. Service is quick and consistent. My sis and I are always traveling the DMV areas for new pho spots to eat at. We decided to visit this one as it wasn't too far from our home in Dover, DE and wanted to take a drive thru beach area. Came here for a late dinner after a drive down from NY. My boyfriend and I ordered spring rolls, summer rolls, and two regular sized combination pho. This is the first pho place in Ocean city. So of course I had to check it out. Atmosphere: Unless you get sat by the window, it's a little too dark. It made it a little difficult for my mom to read the menu. Your eyes will probably slowly adjust so not a huge deal. The chopsticks were metal and round which makes the noodles a little slippery. Also the ceiling drips condensation from the a/c. But all in all its a pretty clean place. I also like how you can see the kitchen. Gives you that extra bit of comfort. Food: First I'll start with the price. Which can look somewhat pricey. But I'll say it's fair as this is ocean city and rent is most likely not cheap. We first started with the crispy spring rolls which was pretty good. It wasn't the best I've had but it's alright. Still love that crispy wrap with fish sauce for dipping. Next I had a large eye round with meatballs. The bean sprouts were fresh and clean. And the lime was very juicy. On to the pho, which was nice and hot. The soup was good. Hidden gem in OC! Amazing authentic Vietnamese restaurant. The pho was bursting with flavor and the perfect balance of spices. This is undoubtedly among the best pho I have ever had. We also had the Thai basil fried rice and the Teriyaki chicken . Both dishes were perfectly prepared . The shrimp in the fried rice was fresh, succulent and delicious. Only "pho" place in OC apparently. Don't waste your time and money. 11-12 bucks for a regular sized bowl of pho with the amount of noodles:meat:broth ratio for maybe an average kid to eat. It is not Vietnamese-owned so it doesn't taste like the typical pho broth. I was sketched out and ordered the summer rolls and dumplings instead (I tasted the pho from my friend's order). Summer rolls were disgusting. Three small shrimps with excessive old lettuce. Probably the worst summer rolls I've had at any Asian restaurant. About 15 minutes later when everyone got their entrees, my appetizer dumplings never came and they made it last. No apologies for not putting in my order. Felt that the soup could have been better, tasted on the lighter side, but that was still okay for me! What bothered me was that we asked for more lime, and they came out with one measley slice on a plate (this just looked silly). We were a table for 2, so we asked for more, again. And again they came out again with one slice. I mean are we trying to save pennies? "Summer rolls" here also felt very skimpish because I think there was like a couple small leaves of lettuce, along with the shrimp. It made the roll floppy and just didn't feel like any substance, compared to what I'm used to. However his place gives you a nice portion of noodles.
