Came here because the reviews were decent and I was hungry. The service was good and servers were very kind but the pho was not good. We got #3 and the broth was not flavorful at all -- tasted watered down and like nothing. Nothing to write home about sadly. Inside the restaurant is a bit dark and the decoration is sort of interesting

This pho was sooooo mid, it made me sad. No flavor in the broth and the meat was boring. One and done for me.

"We're not in Saigon..." So, I randomly came in here on Halloween. And unfortunately for a frightfully bad meal. I didn't see one Vietnamese person in here -- either eating or working. And the food clearly shows that. What's to Cheer - it's not expensive. - Service is ok What's to Jeer - Dishwater Pho. No flavor to the broth. Noodles and meat were fine - Average summer rolls - Flavorless crispy noodles with seafood - no liquor or wine/beer license - Ugly, too bright interior with furniture that even McDonald's wouldn't use

Went in on a Tuesday evening and they have lots of seating and it was quiet. Staff was attentive and food came out fast. They have a big menu with many options but I ended up getting #3 and it was yummy and a big portion.

Portions are huge! There's a ton of seating and super convenient location. The staff is super friendly and gave us a 10% discount. I really enjoyed the vermicelli.

This late night ramen place we found on a whim after a broadway show was clutch. The service was diligent and attentive. The place was more of a cafeteria feel but homey. The portions were hardy and delicious my family that was visiting from Honduras absolutely loved it. There was a large group there that was a bit loud but we did enjoy the experience.

This is a no frills Vietnamese restaurant serving one of the best Pho and Banh mi in Manhattan. The price is on par with Chinatown but without the greasy sauce bottles. The hot pho soup was the perfect cure for a cold evening. The server was very friendly and knew exactly what we needed when I asked for grilled pork on the side. We even got 10% off in celebrating the restaurant's new opening. This will be my new Vietnamese spot in the city! Tons of seating - even though it might look small from the storefront.

I went here after being so hungry after the Halloween parade. The shredded chicken pho was amazing and flavorful. The service was quick. No complaints at all.

Clean restaurant, very clean. It was empty except for 1 customer when I arrived. He was almost done so I couldn't peek what he was eating but it was a big bowl. The server was cleaning but greeted me and seated me right away and brought a big menu, soo many items . The cheapest pho on the menu is $17, matter of fact its the lowest price on the entire menu . I ordered ChinNam Gau Gau Sach - Rice noodle beef soup, eye of round well done, brisket, tendon and mosaic (tripe) Food came quickly and so did disappointment. The bowl was so small, like I've never seen pho served in such a small bowl. AND it came with a wedge of lemon , dude , are we out of limes in NYC ? Ok, so maybe the broth us so good I won't even miss the lime. Today was not my day, broth was mediocre, lacked depth and the meat was very scant. I honestly felt robbed , there was the tiniest piece of tendon and absolutely no sight of tripe. I just wanted to get up and leave. On top of that I had a 2 hoursbreak so had planned to get pho and perhaps Banh Mi and have a leisurely long lunch. 2 other couples came in while I was there and ordered bigger meals. Their food also came quickly. The waiter didnt bother me or check in but he was attentive and walked by a few times if I needed him I wouldn't have to wait. I got my check he asked if I wanted anything else . I wanted to say limes but digressed. I used tje bathroom (very clean BTW) and left. Overall based on this experience Id say its an overpriced meal. I won't go back based on taste, price and portion size. Sure there are over 100 items on the menu but in my opinion if you can't swing pho then it's not a place for me.

Shrimp pho had more veggies like broccoli, carrot than the beef pho! Really nice staff and fun dragon mural inside. Good serving of protein with the noodles. Quick service too.

New spot, just landed from the west coast, staying at a hotel near by, wanted some PHO, saw the spot was new and had some good early reviews Can confirm good, very nice people working though. Try it out, let me know if you agree.

3.5/5 I've only tried the Pho here and it was pretty solid. I would come back if I'm craving Pho in the area. Staff was super friendly. They said that most people ordered this Pho combo (i forgot which one it was) I'm skeptical of restaurants with a large menu so I'm not too keen on trying other menu items here, but I might in the future.

Great and taste and interesting place. Good portions and friendly service. The person who handled this is very kind and a beef rib though, and the seafood is delicious. The vegetarian was not as flavorful as the non-vegetarian products.

I got the pho ($21.78), which is steep for pho, but I guess that's Midtown prices for you. The wait was a slog--over 20 minutes for a bowl of pho, which other Yelp reviews warned about. When it finally arrived, the soup lacked that authentic pho aroma, which was a letdown. On the plus side, the beef was fresh, and the reusable to-go bag was a nice touch. Decent, but the wait and price make it hard to love. Might try again if they speed things up.

I ordered "Plain Pho", which is described as just broth and noodles, no garnish or meat. After waiting 30 minutes, for what is literally the simplest item on the menu, the bowl is brought out and it's a bowl of broth with a couple slices of chicken. No noodles. When I inquired, the server told me it's because I ordered the Plain Pho... yea and I said it comes with noodles and broth. They told me they could get me noodles, but acted like they were doing me a favor by fetching noodles for me, which was quite offputting because the noodles were quite literally half of the dish I actually ordered. How does one wait half-an-hour at a very casual fast Vietnamese food place, for premade soup and noodles, and still have the order wrong? In the end, I did get my noodles and broth, but the fact that I had to spend this much time and also justify my request for noodles (which are part of the dish) is quite insane. I put this at 2 stars for now, because I enjoyed my first time. Hopefully the service will improve.

So when my family stumbled into Pho 39, a tiny spot with just a handful of tables tucked away from the chaos outside, it felt less like finding a restaurant and more like discovering a Rebel outpost that somehow survived undetected in the middle of Imperial territory. The menu is exactly what you'd expect from a solid Vietnamese spot: pho, combination rice plates, the usual lineup. We were ready to order and move on with our lives. Then we saw the tacos. Vietnamese tacos. On the menu. Sitting right there between the banh mi and the spring rolls like they'd always belonged. Nobody in my family said anything for a full three seconds, which for us is basically a standing ovation. We ordered the duck spring rolls to start, which were fresh, well packed, and disappeared faster than a starfighter in hyperspace. For the mains we went with the beef flank pho and the banh mi combination special. The pho had a clean, well developed broth that clearly had some time put into it, and the beef flank was tender enough to make you slow down and pay attention. The banh mi combo was solid, balanced, and hit all the right notes. We did not get the tacos this visit, which means we have a built in reason to return and nobody can argue with that logic. For a small room in the middle of one of the busiest cities on the planet, Pho 39 manages to feel genuinely calm and focused. Good food, good value, and a menu with enough surprises to keep things interesting. The Force is strong with this little spot.

For many in the East Village, this has been the default takeout and delivery spot for years, and it holds up just as well when you dine in. The Beef Rendang Nasi Lemak is the order I keep coming back to. On a recent lunch visit I tried the Mee Goreng from the Lunch Set menu and it was the standout of the meal: savory from soy sauce and fish sauce, sweet, spicy, tangy, and smoky from the wok. The beef pad see ew has some of the best noodles I've ever had, the sizzling steak lives up to its entrance, the shrimp summer rolls are fresh, and the chicken laksa is full of flavor. The one miss was the Curry Laksa, where the lemongrass and curry never quite came together. Lunch sets come with a drink, and the Vietnamese iced coffee beats the Thai iced tea, bolder and less sweet. End with the mango sticky rice with coconut cream: warm rice, ripe fresh mango, the right way to close a meal. Prices are fair. Service is quick, efficient, and friendly. It's more of an eat-and-go spot than a place to linger. One heads up: there's a fee for credit card payments.

It was about 92°F outside and there was no AC. They did have a couple of fans running to help with the heat, but unfortunately, they weren't enough. The restaurant has an open-kitchen concept, which is nice because you can see the kitchen, but you can also feel the heat coming from it. With the front door left open, the summer heat was coming in as well, making it extremely hot inside. There were also quite a few flies circling around, which I'm assuming was partly due to the door being left open. That made the dining experience less comfortable, especially while eating. I would've given 5 stars for the food because it was delicious, but the heat, flies, and overall dining environment really took away from the experience. I'd definitely come back for the food, but I hope they find a better solution for keeping the restaurant cool and comfortable during the summer months.
