Came here because the reviews were decent and I was hungry. The service was good and servers were very kind but the pho was not good. We got #3 and the broth was not flavorful at all -- tasted watered down and like nothing. Nothing to write home about sadly. This late night ramen place we found on a whim after a broadway show was clutch. The service was diligent and attentive. The place was more of a cafeteria feel but homey. The portions were hardy and delicious my family that was visiting from Honduras absolutely loved it. There was a large group there that was a bit loud but we did enjoy the experience.

The hot pho soup was the perfect cure for a cold evening. The server was very friendly and knew exactly what we needed when I asked for grilled pork on the side. We even got 10% off in celebrating the restaurant's new opening. This will be my new Vietnamese spot in the city! Tons of seating - even though it might look small from the storefront.

Clean restaurant, very clean. It was empty except for 1 customer when I arrived. He was almost done so I couldn't peek what he was eating but it was a big bowl. The server was cleaning but greeted me and seated me right away and brought a big menu, soo many items . The cheapest pho on the menu is $17, matter of fact its the lowest price on the entire menu . I ordered ChinNam Gau Gau Sach - Rice noodle beef soup, eye of round well done, brisket, tendon and mosaic (tripe) Food came quickly and so did disappointment. The bowl was so small, like I've never seen pho served in such a small bowl. AND it came with a wedge of lemon , dude , are we out of limes in NYC ? Ok, so maybe the broth us so good I won't even miss the lime. Today was not my day, broth was mediocre, lacked depth and the meat was very scant. I honestly felt robbed , there was the tiniest piece of tendon and absolutely no sight of tripe. I just wanted to get up and leave. On top of that I had a 2 hoursbreak so had planned to get pho and perhaps Banh Mi and have a leisurely long lunch. 2 other couples came in while I was there and ordered bigger meals. Their food also came quickly. The waiter didnt bother me or check in but he was attentive and walked by a few times if I needed him I wouldn't have to wait. I got my check he asked if I wanted anything else . I wanted to say limes but digressed. I used tje bathroom (very clean BTW) and left. Overall based on this experience Id say its an overpriced meal. I won't go back based on taste, price and portion size. Sure there are over 100 items on the menu but in my opinion if you can't swing pho then it's not a place for me.

They said that most people ordered this Pho combo (i forgot which one it was) I'm skeptical of restaurants with a large menu so I'm not too keen on trying other menu items here, but I might in the future.

Nice spot for a normal dinner or take out. It's not the fanciest inside, but it's not exactly a hole in the wall either. I had the bun with shrimp, which was great. The shrimp was really nicely grilled and had a sweet/savory seasoning which I always love. It seems like they're always running a discount, which is a nice surprise if you're not paying attention. Even with the discount, pricing is about average for the area. read more

Pho Dragon is about 10mins walk from Union sq station. Convenient location. Spacious and clean inside. Staff were nice and friendly. I put the online order for pick up. The food was ready when I arrived. I had #116 sliced pork, sausage , fried egg with rice. It came with a small portion of carrots and cucumbers. Flavor was good 4/5. I would like the pork in even thinner slice. Egg was on point. I also had Thai ice tea. It was ok 2.5/5. I didn't get that tea flavor knocking into me. It was definitely sweet tho. Overall a solid spot for lunch. I prob will try pho next time. read more

Wow! What a phenomenal place to eat Vietnamese food. Coming from Ca, we were craving for Vietnamese place, and we stumbled upon Pho Dragon in New York. Who would think this place would have authentic Vietnamese food. I was impressed and shocked to say that this place is amazing! I am very particular about Vietnamese food, but the food and service blew me away! Great service, price, and food portions. They are extremely generous, and the service is like a 5-star restaurant! Wonderful service, everyone was so kind. I came on a Friday night after hanging out with some friends. Got my food to go I ordered the short rib pho. Also known as the dragon pho, which was really great. The the short rib fell off the bone, and I barely touched it. The broth was wonderful. when I ordered here it was really delicious , the service was really good and the place wasn't too packed so we got our food pretty quickly. The pho is absolutely delicious ,the broth is rich, flavorful, and clearly made with care. You can taste the depth in every spoonful. The noodles are perfectly cooked, and the portions are generous. Delicious authentic Vietnamese reminiscent of my trip there. Gracious and attentive staff. Plus there's no genuine Vietnamese around Flatiron so this place is a welcome addition. Delighted to see a Vietnamese restaurant in this neighborhood. Extensive menu but I would have loved to see a lunch menu since I wasn't seeking dinner. Super fast and very friendly service. The spring rolls with avocado were a fun twist on a classic. The stir fry was great except I'm not fan of canned mushrooms at that price point. read more

Wanted to support this new small casual restaurant/takeout place. The pho was perfect - fresh and delicious. Broth packaged separately from the add-ins (fresh veggies, mint, bean sprouts, hot sauce, etc.) so can combine it fresh and to your taste at home. read more

I arrived in 2008 with very little, and when Graydon Carter revived the restaurant in 2009, I was beginning a rise of my own, first at a large global bank and then, to my astonishment, at one of the city's most powerful investment firms. The suits were daily, the walls were gold, and the pressure was so consuming that even success could feel like a form of attrition. After a few years, I moved to a smaller firm with Southern roots, where the culture was more humane, the work gave me greater autonomy, and I produced some of the strongest results of my career, even within an industry still governed by fear, greed, and status. Inside, the red booths, low lighting, generous spacing, and hand-painted monkey murals made lunch feel ceremonial without becoming stiff. The room was timeless and handsome, with polished service, quality food, and the subtle assurance of a place where you could be proud to bring someone important. I especially remember sitting in one of those booths with two mentors, each only a few years older than I was and therefore close enough in vintage to feel relatable, trustworthy, and genuinely within reach. One had entered my life after I left the larger firm and helped me understand an earlier chapter that had also ended abruptly and, at the time, felt deeply unfair; the other had guided me through the smaller firm where I finally found a more sustainable way to work. Over that long lunch, I introduced them, we discussed several promising ideas, and for a moment my career seemed to have reached the point where relationships, experience, and opportunity were finally converging. One of those ideas consumed an extraordinary amount of my time and energy, and I believed it might become the foundation of my next chapter. Instead, the arrangement eventually turned on me, the role I thought I had earned never materialized, and the business itself sputtered. My professional life, financial footing, and pride all collapsed just as COVID was beginning. Then Monkey Bar closed in 2020, which made the ending feel almost unnervingly complete: the restaurant, the city, and the version of myself built around New York finance all went dark at once. For years, I experienced that ending as devastating and unfair; now I can see it as wisdom delivered through an unnecessarily rough process. The restaurant's later revival by a Chicago hospitality group feels fitting because it still honors tradition and ceremony while allowing the old forms to evolve into something healthier, looser, and more current. I have not been back since that lunch, but a return now would feel like visiting the museum of my past, not reclaiming a life that asked too much, gave too little, and finally lost its hold on me. Even now, I remember Monkey Bar as a great Midtown lunch in a memorable room, surrounded by the residue of old ambitions and the gratitude of having survived them. The cocktails were sharp, the service was impeccable, and the dining room carried that glamorous old New York energy without feeling trapped by it. I remain deeply fond of the place, partly for what it was and partly for what it witnessed. Some restaurants become attached to a chapter of your life, and Monkey Bar holds mine with unusual grace.

These are dishes originally meant for low-income Americans to fill up on cheaply; there's no limit to how good they can be, but also no floor to how bad they can get. Both were on par with the average quality found in upscale restaurants. Honestly, these are two dishes I would never order myself. To sum up: the atmosphere was great. It's also hard to get a reservation; the place was packed when we had lunch at 2 PM.
