This jewel is nestled in the Target complex off highway 16. 3202 south 23rd street in Tacoma. It sits between bath and body works and Sally's beauty supply. I'm so happy we found this hidden gem. Our food was so delicious and very authentic Vietnamese. We have had difficulty finding great pho places. They have tons on mediocre pho places. This is not one!! My husband who is Asian finds this the best he's had and I agree. It's all about the broth. Pho Garden is generous in its servings. I had the cashew stir fry and it will go down in history of one of my favorites. The people who work here are extremely sweet and make you feel welcome. Our experience was fantastic! Good broth, a little strong; that's perfect. Just got the basics: rare beef pho and grilled pork noodle salad. Beef arrived separate and raw (YEAY!!!!!) And broth hot enough to cook it. Not enough basil or cilantro though. Delicious pork. I'd actually give 5 stars, except for the not shredded, white parts of iceberg lettuce in the noodle bowl. And a LOT of iceberg in general. I really debated if I wanted to give this place just one star. I thought maybe I should do at least two since my food arrived warm but technically that could've been accomplished with a microwave and a 60 second burst of effort, I decided the one star is fair. I ordered the shrimp fried rice. The rice was flavorless and had clumps of hard, dried rice. It was like chewing a band-aid. There were some carrot slices that were brown around the edges and a chunk of lettuce on top. The veggies tasted freezer burned and the shrimp...the shrimp was soggy like they'd cooked it frozen and that's not the worst part, the worst part was the salt. So much salt. Then to top it off, there was what can only be described as a "bushel" of cilantro on top. On bite number two as I was chewing this abomination, I began wondering if this was some kind of karmic justice. Had I inadvertently kicked a puppy? Did I forget to recycle? Did I water my lawn on the wrong day? Was the universe getting back at me to return itself to cosmic balance? Who knows, all I know is, two bites was enough for me. I remembered that I have free will and I don't have to eat this, not by choice anyways. New restaurant and decided to try it today with the weather being chilly and rainy, a bowl of Pho sounded good. I was the only one there when I went and so service was on point. They were very attentive and polite. The restaurant was very clean and decorated well with an atmosphere like a 'garden'. You can find a lot better literally anywhere else. Sure the place looks nice and the decor is pretty, but I'm not going to eat that. I ordered the Pad Khee Mao and the only flavor it had was oil. The noodles were stuck together and was just soggy. Also ordered the BBQ Chicken Bahn Mi which was already smaller than most in Tacoma, and a $1 more. Again barely any flavor. I called ahead for a pickup order and they said 10 minutes. I gave them 25 mins and still had to wait 7 mins at the restaurant. I didnt ordered the Phô. It is a Phô place and I should of stuck to that and nothing else. read more

I just had this for lunch. I had it delivered so I can't comment on the restaurant itself nor the service (other than my to-go bag was well put together with everything I might need). When I try a new Viet place I usually have beef pho or a sandwich. I couldn't decide today so I ordered both- steak and brisket pho and a bbq chicken sandwich. The pho- the broth is pretty good. I've had better but it was very flavorful. One of the better broths I've had in Tacoma. The broth and the rest of the ingredients were packaged separately so you could mix right before eating. I always appreciate that. The bbq pork sandwich- This was very good. Probably one of the best I've ever had. Everything tasted fresh. The veggies were crunchy. The chicken and sauce were delicious. What really made it stand out was the fresh crusty french roll. I could have eaten the roll by itself. Both items were a large portion size. I was only able to eat half of each so I'll be having it again for dinner which I'm already kind of excited about. Overall, a solid pho spot and welcome addition to Tacoma. read more

I decided to try this new place, and it's now my favorite pho place. Their pho broth is very flavorful, which is important because good pho is all about the broth! I've had the brisket, tripe, and meatballs, all very good, and their ingredients always look and taste very fresh, unlike some places I have been. Their fresh rolls are also decent, and the peanut sauce is tasty. The only thing I would say is stick to vietnamese dishes. My husband had the penang curry and it was underwhelming. We ordered 4 out of 5 stars, and it was more like 1 or 2 stars, and had few ingredients. It's obviously not their specialty. But they totally rock the pho! The man taking orders at the front had the worst customer service. I had placed an order online and went to pick it up I was unsure if my wife had paid for it or not and he told me my order was right there and ready to go so I waited a couple mins thinking I had to pay and he didn't say anything and I grabbed the food and proceeded to walk out and he then yelled at me to come back and pay and my friend asked if she could buy and boba tea and he straight up said nah were busy and we were like okay it's a drink it'll take less then 5 mins and asked again and he said we close at 9 and it was 8:15 , he did not have any good customer service skills what so ever. Whew! So the broth here was very fatty. Probably the fattiest broth I've had in Tacoma. I'm not judging anyone on their broth preference. Personally, I like a dark, rich, full-flavored broth. If I wanted a consommé I'd order it. But this was rich even for my tastes. Nothing wrong with it; very good, rich, and flavorful. The restaurant itself is very clean if not a little cringey. A lot of attention was paid making the front of house look very sanitary. It's maybe a little off-putting when compared to your usual haunt. This place is so good. I ordered the fresh spring rolls, tofu pho and ordered chicken pad thai to go (for dinner later). The pho broth was so flavorful. I had low expectations with the pad Thai, because it is a Vietnamese restaurant, not Thai. It was one of the best pad thai's I have ever had. My husband and I both had a large, and he who never finished his broth completely emptied her bowl. His only comment was not enough meat compared to other pho places. So sad, this used to be my favorite place to get pho. My husband has tried many of their other dishes and they have never really been that good. Either the noodles have been sitting in a container for so long that you can't get them to separate from the brink like substance they have become or there is just a little blob of sauce or some other issue that is totally available. So we would order pho for me and he'd get something from somewhere else. That was until recently. Their pho broth has always had a great, deep flavor to it that was difficult to find at other places. Their chicken has also been well prepared making it flavorful and tender. The last few times I've had their pho have been different. The chicken has been tough or so cold that the broth didn't warm it. Their broth has also seemed to change. It just isn't as flavorful, which is was set them apart in the first place. More than once they have forgotten to include the sprouts or some other ingredient. Trying to call here to place an order is not only frustrating, sometimes it is impossible. More than once we have gone somewhere else after trying multiple times to get a hold of anyone. They wait times are a joke. They will tell you it will be ready in 20 min so we make sure we are there in 20 so everything will still be warm. It is common to wait at least 10 more min after arriving, more than once it has been 20 min or longer. read more
