Was so excited to try the second Vietnamese spot on Bell... but Pho Grand is Pho Unimpressive. 2 stars for location and that's it. With an unverified B on Fakespot...might as well be an Asian F. We were greeted with a line that gave us high hopes that it was worth the wait. The current simple number system (they write it down on a menu pad and then call it out aka no texts or buzzers) would have worked except I saw that a family ahead of us by four places were forgotten. The server said a number then the family leaped up and said wait how about us? The server didn't even hide her shock but also looked annoyed... at the family. We were seated and it was immediately apparent that the place was a chaotic frenzy among the servers with running around everywhere. Nevertheless, we ordered the basic staples: Summer rolls - nothing particularly wonderful. Light on the shrimp and heavy on the vermicelli. Peanut sauce was legit. Pho with beef brisket, tendon and tripe - so little brisket, broth was super oily, ample tripe but that's to be expected bc its cheap. It looked like pho, smelled like pho but just didn't taste like real pho - corners were cut and the result was just mediocre. Pork chop on vermicelli - pork slices were dry and wrinkly. Nothing to report on vermicelli. Carrots were sufficiently vinegary. We also ordered Chinese broccoli with garlic sauce which is not a staple but a basic wok dish. It came out last when we were halfway done. We were just excited to eat some veggies. One bite and my throat nearly closed up and it was obvious that there was more than 1500 mg of salt in the dish (recommended daily intake). The veg was so salty that we couldn't even eat the leafy parts without patting it down on vermicelli or chasing it with water. We probably asked the server for water 3-4x! As for the chaotic frenzy, we were served very quickly but we were also asked to clear our plates just as quickly, even in mid-meal. It was okay perhaps because the veg was inedible. Great, edible, delectable, Vietnamese food is elsewhere. read more

I have dined here before Covid and got take out recently. Both times were disappointing. I got the big bowl pho both times and in the store the broth came out lukewarm. For the take out version of the big bowl the portion was not big at all with very few meats. I got the summer roll as an appetizer but when I opened the box it was already broken. Wow this place is amazing! I ended up ordering here because my usual place just stopped serving pho. In about 20 minutes, I had hot delicious pho delivered to my doorsteps. Nothing to complain about. Although their pork spring roll did look a bit funny and not like your typical spring roll. On another occasion, I gave the vegetable spring roll a chance and it was better than the pork! Also really loved their beef and tomato dish. We are very happy to discover this pho place! It is very spacious, clean with modern renovation. The tables are all far enough that you are not sitting on top of each. We ordered the spring roll, bone marrow, tomato beef stew, pho, grilled pork, fried squid, and Chinese watercress with garlic. The spring roll filing was very fresh yet and wasn't too greasy. The dipping sauce is perfectly balanced, not too salty, not too garlicky. The grilled pork is tender. The bone marrow was very creamy and not too dry. Came to this place yesterday for lunch since I heard dinner can be packed. The place is very spacious and they have a very cute bar. I was shocked so many people review about the server instead of food. They just opened few days ago. I ordered the pho with chicken chop, ice coffee and shrimp summer roll. The food came out fairly quick and all the servers were very friendly. Pho was the way I liked it, not oily or overly salty and chicken chop was cooked perfectly. I've dined here twice and the food is mediocre at best. 1st time both of us had Pho dishes. Broth was rather bland and noodles were horribly sticky. 2nd time we ordered a rice dish and sandwiches. Rice dish was served immediately and we had to wait another 15 minutes for sandwiches. The bread for sandwiches was stale and not really proper for Vietnamese sandwich. Service was also very scattered. Staff seems to be more preoccupied with standing around service counter than tending to the customer. A block down from my office, Pho Grand is a new addition to the Bell Blvd strip. I've visited a few times for lunch - the inside is very modern and sleek! While the waitstaff is very attentive, only a few of them speak English. I asked for hot sauce, and our waiter had to bring over another woman to interpret my request. You also may need to point to menu items if you don't speak the language, as my boyfriend ordered something completely different than what was brought out but they rectified it immediately. Ever since the pandemic started, my parents have been hesitant to dine at restaurants, which was one of their favorite things to do. I noticed that they had an enclosed outdoor seating and fairly spacious indoor area, so I decided to take my parents here one night for an early dinner. We sat inside and were well distanced from other diners, so we felt comfortable. We ordered the crispy spring roll, beef pho, beef ball pho, sautéed water spinach with garlic, and the grilled beef banh hoi. Spring rolls were fresh and crispy. Both of the phos were nice and tasty. The broth is on the lighter side compared to other Vietnamese restaurants I've been to. The water spinach was delicious, flavorful, and stir fried really well. Grilled beef banh hoi was okay and didn't really stand out for me too much. Overall, this is a nice spot to go to if you are craving Vietnamese food in the Queens area. I have been to this place multiple times before COVID, and it felt that this place didn't match up to the expectations that I had compared to the Vietnamese restaurants in Chinatown. Despite its decor and its bar, the modern interpretation of its interior doesn't really reflect their approach to the Classic, old-school Vietnamese cuisine. Even though I have been here multiple times, they have been very inconsistent with their food. The pho noodles and beef stayed the same during my multiple visits, but the soup can vary from to very cloudy to almost clear, but they give very few limes and Thai basil to go with it, forcing me to ask for additional ones. Plus, their Vietnamese sandwich, while good, has little pork and drenched in Mayo for an above average price. Plus, their rice vermicelli bowls are slightly on the smaller side, but nonetheless good with the usual tasty grilled pork chops. With the grilled beef cubes, sometimes dry and lacking some sauce occasionally. However, I do enjoy the appetizers, such as the cha gio and the grilled squid. I also do enjoy the summer rolls, but I felt that the three (or seven) color ice wasn't as worth as it seems. The drinks were good, but expensive compared to other places. Overall, this is good Vietnamese if you live near the Nassau County border, but otherwise, choose other options for good Vietnamese food in Queens. read more

I was going to call the server and ask but my gf was let's just wait and see.. well.. vermicelli dish came out after I finished with my pho... Decor: very clean and lovely! Lots of natural sunlight through the windows. Food: I ordered the Beef Brisket Pho with a side of chicken. The broth was great! Not too oily and very clean! The quality of the meats was great and all the ingredients were very fresh. We have been back several time since and with the hubby this time. WE love coming here because it's convenient and the food is pretty good so we don't have to go to Flushing. It's nice to have something on this side of Northern. Atmosphere is nice - specially when this place use to be a nail salon I just to come to. We tried to order pork and chive dumplings but they were out so we ended up with a small order of fried spring rolls which were good and filled with pork. The broth of the pho was not too heavy and had decent flavor but the brisket was a bit dry. The beef cubes were nice and tender not tough but the portion of meet was small.
