I've been eating at this pho joint for almost 3-4 years now. It's been great, addicting pho. About a month ago I found a baby cockroach in my imperial roll (SUMMER ROLL) and I let it go. I didn't even make it a big deal, i quietly walked up to pay and let them know (showed them) that there was a BUG in my food. Its a restaurant and i support them so whatever, i kept going back. Today, as i was eating i found a long string of hair in my summer roll. Lost my appetite and took the summer roll up to the cash register. Her response was, "OH it must be (the Spanish lady), I'll tell her to be careful next time". I told her that this was the second time and she said, "Oh i know, i heard about the other time. I don't know why it keeps happening to you." As shes ringing me up shes like, "OKay, we wont charge you for that summer roll..." WHAT?! No kidding, no way I'm paying for that! As a loyal customer that goes at least twice a week, she couldn't even say that the meal was on her and that she was sorry. No apologies, just that she will tell her to be more careful next time. NEVER WILL I STEP BACK IN THERE FOR HOW DISAPPOINTED I AM AFTER TWO INCIDENTS WITH NASTY CRAP IN THEIR FOOD. We tried the large house special pho. It's right next to Megamart up the hill. We thought it was pretty good not quite as good as other nearby options. I will say that the price was very fair and the employees were very friendly. I would go back if I wanted a quick bowl of pho but I still prefer other places nearby. read more

I had been a fan of this place for a while, but I am no longer. Having ordered extra toppings a few times that came out bad as in rotten meat bad, I am more worried about the hygiene and the rest of the food. I'm a former chef and I get that it can be hard to keep things fresh without proper rotation. Don't have so many things on the menu then. Cut back. Rancid food is unacceptable as it points to a total lack in process and real danger! I am never going back and will look for another place for Pho. Btw, like last time, an indifference to the situation and no real problem resolution plan. Ignore and hope they will pay seems to be the plan. read more

Best Pho I've ever eaten! Trust me, I'm a pho connoisseur. I last went to this place almost 2 years ago because the pho was just average and my wife preferred this other place. We randomly came back about a month ago and whoa baby! The pho was so hearty, so tasty, so delicious!!! The price is lower than other places, the size is huge (compared to others), and the noodles are just right, not overcooked like other places and this place gives a ton of meat!!! The best part is the soup of course. It is not watered down at all. very flavorful. My only regret is that I wrote a 3 star review last time and I went almost 2 years without this fabulous pho... I'm wondering when the change happened, or if I just had a mediocre experience last time... Wow there seems to be a little pho hate going on here. Don't know how much of a difference it makes between april and november. I'd give this place an ok rating I do have to agree with the other guy that they are a little bit short sided on the meat. But over all they keep the regular pho tradition of - Pho comes in regular and large. - different selection of meat - with other vietnamese food to go along. - and sides of basil, sprouts, lime, and jalapenos. - people nice and very fast. I don't think I'll be able to eat pho anywhere else. Ever. This was amazing. The broth was light and tasty and amazingly flavorful. Without anything added in, it was great. With a little chili and hoisin sauce it was perfect. Like all good pho places, they bring Asian basil and bean sprouts. Everything was fresh, the restaurant was clean, and the staff was friendly. I'll absolutely be back, even if it took an hour of city driving to get there. Perfect for a cold, rainy night. I'd put it a little higher than Pho 75 on the pho scale. So many hands, so many phos, not enough consistency. I like my Pho. It is a comfort food for me. I may even have an addiction to this noodle, broth, & meat combination and one day A&E may be doing a biopic on me called, "Intervention: So Pho, Not So Good"* but today my friends, fear not...this place will not be my crack house of Pho, my den of inequity whose noodle bonds will tie to my chopsticks. Today, I will leave and continue my search. So why come here? I'm a Pho Head...duh... So, on with the review. Atmosphere: It's nothing special...it doesn't look like a cafeteria with the white tiles. It actually looks likes nice. Food: The Vietnamese spring rolls it of itself was decent. The problem was the condiment: The peanut sauce was runny. It lacked consistency. And what you could mash a couple of peanuts as actual garnish? The imperial roll was nice, good crunch, but nothing exceptional. I had microwave versions with the same flair. Pho: The heart of the matter. With the original owners who were Vietnamese the soup had a lot more flavor. The lemongrass and the hints of cardamon were truly paltable. Yeah, I know recipes differ based on family and regions so with that in mind...they didn't always make it great each time. The new owners are not consistent at all. Sometimes, the broth is too murky and the fat hasn't been scooped out properly so you get that ever so lovely foam on top. Though, I will state the pho ga or chicken pho was much better. The chicken stock was good. (though a touch more of coriander seeds in the season pack would have helped round out the flavor) Service: Speedy, quick, good natured folks. Bubble Tea? Really...trying to cash in on that lucrative drink since you're Chinese? Ok, sure go for it. (note sarcasm) Pricing: Still cheap eats and if you get the card and ingest 10 bowls of the stuff....you get one free. WooHoo! Coworker's brought me here for lunch. I must say that the flavor in the broth here is different than others in the area and.. I like it! The location is a bit easy to miss if your not looking for it. This place has the best quality pho in the Rockville/Bethesda area! Broth is always fresh, meat is succulent, and veggies are on point. Service is usually good but after a recent visit, I changed my mind on that thus the 4/5 star rating. My brother and I went at 8:30pm for some dinner on a Saturday night, and the first thing the short hispanic waiter said to us was "WE CLOSE 9" very harshly. We decided to eat there anyway, totally feeling rushed and running out of there at 9 on the dot. Four guys even came in to look at the menu at around 8:40 while the waiter nervously stared at them telling them the same thing...and they responded "we don't want to be 'those guys'" then walked out. Apparently my brother and I were "those guys". I haven't scarfed down a meal that fast in a while... It's really poor practice to try and shoo away customers HALF AN HOUR before the store closes! Are you kidding? Good practice is to lock your doors at closing time and allow your customers to enjoy their meal. Anyway, while that was annoying.. not enough to prevent me from going back. Just had another satisfying and filling dinner with the boyfriend at Pho Hoa Binh last night, my as-of-yet favorite place to get pho and spring/fried rolls in the Rockville area. I was first introduced to this place maybe three years ago by a Viet friend who claimed this was her favorite pho place, and I trusted the judgment. So far I have not been disappointed. Maybe once the broth tasted flat, but every other time I've been happy with the flavor and meat content, and the spouts and basil and other sides are always fresh and clean. I have eaten both kinds of rolls, and the spring rolls last night were fresh and the fried ones were tasty as usual. I'm not a pho expert, but for me at least, the quality of the food has always been dependable. (The bubble tea isn't the best though; go to Jumbo Jumbo up Rockville Pike for bubble tea.) I've gotten take-out pho from them a few times as well, and it is always well packaged, with all the raw sides in it's own bag, plastic utensils and the broth in its own container. I've always received friendly treatment, and have used a few of their 10-pho Get One Free cards already. Will definitely be back as the winter months set in! read more

Really not to my taste. Pho portion size is good for the price... But I just didn't like the flavor... There was something I didn't like and I can't put my finger on it .. So this place is hidden -- kind of... If you're not looking for it you might miss it. The inside is dated... But that wouldn't matter if it was good. The service was very good and attentive. Sat right away and served right away. Not very busy inside even at lunch... As I already mentioned this place has a good price point. The regular pho is plenty and I was told the next size up is huge. I had the beef with tendon and tripe. They were ok. The soup was decent but there was something in it that I do not prefer. Took a chance with this pho place, since I was craving it and in the area. I ordered the number 1 with everything, and when it came to the table, one look and I could already tell that it wasn't going to be good. The broth was dark and cloudy, which it shouldn't be, good pho broth should be slightly clear and full of flavor. I hate to but I have to update my review. I assume the ownership has changed hands and there's been changes to the kitchen, recipes, or both, but this place has really gone downhill. Both in terms of quality of food and taste and portion size. Before, a lemongrass chicken with rice would have a healthy serving of glistening meat, and salad with a nice portion of rice. Now the amount given has gone down, the rice is sticky and seems old and the food just doesn't taste like it used to. Same goes for the pho. I tried this place after they close my original pho go-to spot in Aspen Hill. With a prior disappointment with another pho business in the area, I was a little weary trying this establishment. I had a small #1 and a side of Imperial Rolls. The soup was amazing. The broth was great and all the meat and noodles were cooked perfectly. My husband also equally enjoyed his chicken pho. I love that the Imperial Rolls had beef along with the shrimp, noodles and lettuce. I might be spoiled but I was used to having crushed nuts on top of the peanut sauce! it was also challenging finding parking. Other than that, the service was great. The guy at the cashier and the one that was cleaning up a table when we were leaving, stopped to wish us a good night and said thank you for coming. If there was a word to define pho-addicts, you could write my name and print my face under the definition. I've tried a countless range of pho restaurants in my life quest for the perfect bowl of pho, so I may be a little biased in my review. Here is what I liked: The soup. Though it's not consistent on a daily basis (like most pho places), the broth sometimes has a great thick flavor and literally "hits the spot" on your taste buds with the first slurp. The speed. I'd have to rank this place as one of the fastest pho restaurants I've been to. Need a pho quick-fix? Come here. They bring out your bowl of pho almost faster than fast food. I am well aware of the process of making pho, but they are on top of their game in regards to this. Here is what I don't like: The meat. The "tai" meat is decent, but the "chin" meat tastes old and terrible. I found it's always a hit and miss with "chin" meat at different pho restaurants. Sometimes they are soft with a slight meaty flavor, but other times they are chewy and taste like dog-grade meat (not that I've tasted dog-grade before! ... or have I?) The noodles. They are OKAY, but they sometimes come out clumped and way too soft -- often leaving my bowl filled with tiny broken up noodles. I don't mess around with crappy food places. I like good food I like great service and I'm too old to put myself through the hassle of a mediocre restaurant let alone bad. I've been to restaurants all over the region and this is a wonderful peaceful pho restaurant. I've been here with most of my closest friends because they deserve it. Do the Bowls have delicious noodles comma lots of meat in a delicious broth. It isn't simple chicken soup obviously a chef has spent a lot of time making this soup in the meat is beautiful you can see how pink it is as it sits in the broth cooking in the hot soup. I'd only say that the noodles are yummy it's a great amount but not so many that you feel the soup is buried in noodles. And yes there is a dish on the side with sprouts some pieces of cut lime and some slices of hot peppers maybe jalapenos all of which of the finishing touches that personalizes your soup read more

Luckily for me they usually have dishes that are soup- like the delicious pork and rice dish I had here. I came here with my party of 2 after a training session in Rockville Fitness. We ordered two portions of the imperial rolls, and three orders of the #4 beef noodle sound (eye round, brisket, tendon, and tripe). I respected the size of the imperial rolls with a healthy dose of filling; they went nicely with the peanut sauce that accompanied them. A soft translucent exterior with an inviting filling. As for the noodle soup, it was on par or maybe even slightly better than most of the beef noodle places around the area. No complaints here. read more

My girl and I went to get pho at this place and the pho and Thai tea is decent but the customer service sucks. The man not only runs the place but also runs his mouth. While my girl was ordering he interrupts her just to give her attitude and pick a fight. The way he popped off and screamed killed the vibes.I had to take a deep breath and do the customer service for him. Me and the fiance tried this place out after abandoning our old pho spot in Rockville. Pho Hoa Binh is located in an odd shopping center. Its hard to find when driving up Parklawn. The place is clean and it had small tables of 4? but I don't think its a good place to bring a large group with you, if your thinking about it. The place wasn't crowded at 7:00 on Tuesday night, but it smelled really good when we came in to the restarant. They offer other dishes besides pho too, like rice dishes and vermacille. We both order the usual #1 on the menu. The meat was okay, not the best quality. The broth was good. This place overall is just okay, nothing fabulous or unique about it. I had better pho before. Also, its hard to pull out of the shopping center and on to the main road too, so be careful when your doing that. read more

Yummy pho! I always get a small order of the #7 with extra meatballs and it's the perfect amount. If I'm really hungry, I also order the imperial rolls. My coworkers like the vegetarian pho cause it's the only bowl that comes with the fried tofu puffs, and then they add on meat. Also, be sure to get a stamp card! Buy 10 bowls and your next one is free! Carryout is always fast and easy. Never takes more than five mins to get the order. Owner is pretty friendly and always greets me with a smile. read more

We tried carry out Pho soup based on a neighborhood reccomendation- it was a great dinner! although I am sure the beef Pho is awesome, we got one bowl of plain soup and one of chicken pho- fresh basil and bean sprouts, savory soup with the right fragrence of anise; also an order of vegetarian spring rolls. Everything was delicious and fresh, came in very convienent bowls, with good dipping sauces/condiments. Great Pho, I had the vegetarian pho, small. Even the small was huge. I also got a coffee... small tip, if you get the coffee, you have to let the tin thing sit on your cup for 5 minutes. I lifted it and some of it spilled! Very creamy by the way. read more

I've been coming here since the first few weeks it's opened. If I'm not mistakened these are the 2nd owners of this establishment. They're nice people. I'll go on binges of craving Pho and since I live a quarter mile from here I can do as my desires wish. The soup broth is tasty and the beef is plentiful. If you eat there, which I sometimes do, the service is fast and pleasant. I always go for a #9 or #11(large bowl), with extra beef and extra noodles, each a dollar extra. Even then I'm just moderately full, but comfortable :) I do like that they serve more than just the noodle soup. Do try the spring roll and summer rolls as they are both delicious and fast to the table. They do serve a decent variety but I've always stuck to the beef noodles. What's nice is that they're also open later than most Pho places. Open till 9 during the week! read more

This is the best pho I've had. They have the spices just right. When I lived in Rockville, I ate here at least twice a week. The last time I was sick I came in and got a big bowl, and I was better immediately. This stuff works miracles! And the owners and staff are very nice. Try the iced drip coffee with condensed milk, or one of their delicious smoothies with jellies and tapioca balls. The spring rolls and summer rolls are also fabulous. Fills you up right. read more

This is one of the better pho places. The pho is about a 4.5-5 but at the same time it's probably one of the cleanest pho places in this area so I gave it a 5. The summer rolls and ice coffee is also good. Great place! read more

I began coming here halfway through my undergraduate program, and four years later at the end of my graduate degree, I still head out to Pho Hoa Binh whenever I need a pick me up/treat/solid meal. The service can be grumpy-faced at times, but honestly, I don't come here to be smiled at. I come to Pho Hoa Binh to stuff my face as quickly and noisily as possible with delicious noodles and broth. #1 or 3, small, extra noodle extra tripe, Diet Coke. Yes sir, my spiritual well being has been reoriented, my passions calmed, there could be a bomb under my chair and I'd still feel a deep sense of contentment. The broth here is occasionally just a little bitter, leading me to believe they are either boiling their bones too hot, or are using too much reconstituted stock, but nine times out of ten, it is golden, clear, and beautifully aromatic and tasty. Enjoyable noodles, good quality meat, and the fastest service this side of a vending machine. There have been some other lackluster reviews about this shop, but I would note, even if Pho Hoa Binh does not stack up against other pho shops, it is still miles ahead of most other local offerings. Less delicious than something is still delicious. Four years later and I'm still salivating thinking about my next bowl. read more

Food is good and the pho soup is the usual taste like any other pho soup in the are and perhaps anywhere pho soup is available. Every time we come here to eat we get the usual. 3 orders of fried egg rolls, 1 order of spring rolls, grilled beef with rice, grilled pork with rice, fried chicken with rice, and 1 pho #1. A couple orders of bubble tea - tarot and avocado with bubbles. Last weekend I was surprised with the bill. A 20% tip #1 for party of 4. I almost put in tip # 2 but realized tip already included to the bill. Anyone else noticed this? I understand if for party of 5 or more an automatic 18% tip but for 4 people and 20% tip plus tip#2. Anyone else noticed this? Times are hard for all both business owners and customers. Well, this is a turn off and time to look for another Pho place. read more

The shrimp rolls didn't have hardly any flavor, It was literally just lettuce and shrimp, there was no Thai basil or cilantro they didn't put any peanuts in the peanut sauce, the pho broth was very bland and had to be loaded with condiments to be flavorful and the nail in the coffin was they did not offer to refill our drinks The only upside was they were super friendly and nice there are so many other pho places that have authentic and good flavor read more
