3.5 stars. I love Asian cuisine. I guess I'm sort of a connoisseur when it comes to it lol. I had this place bookmarked for a while. Finally went for a late lunch recently. It's located in the Old Avon Village plaza. There were plenty of parking. The interior was nice; it looked like it used to be a frozen yogurt spot. The hostess/waitress was nice. Unfortunately, there is no kids menu, but we were able to get a small bowl to share our noodles with our toddlers. The food came out slowly, considering we were only 1 out of 3 tables. We ordered pork and shrimp spring rolls as an appetizer; it was very good and fresh with the peanut butter sauce. For my meal, I ordered the Pho House Special; it's $20.95 and has rice noodles, medium rare beef, brisket, and meatballs. This bowl was huge! The flavor was good but the broth was very oily. I added more hoison, chili oil, and siracha for more flavor. We didn't have any sauces and napkins, so we had to flag down the waitress a couple of times. Also, they never refilled our waters. I noticed the prices were very high compared to other Vietnamese restaurants I've been to. With everything factored together, I gave them 3.5 stars total.

Met the new owners and they were very nice and welcoming. Had the house special beef pho which had great flavor. Looking forward to trying some other dishes soon.

I'm from the San Francisco Bay area and I've eaten a lot of pho, soI know good pho when I come across it this was outstanding..I was surprised it was so good in a quiet Connecticut suburb like Avon. In addition to the atmosphere was lovely, which is not something you usually get in Vietnamese restaurant and the service was very good as well. I don't agree with the person who said there wasn't enough beef. I came here very hungry and there was plenty of beef. The meat was good quality too, and very tender.

We've eaten here twice, once for take-out and once in the restaurant, and both times everything was delicious! The rice dishes and the pho are both very flavorful. The bahn mi was good but my wife (who has very particular taste in bahn mi, but loves them) says they are just OK. The restaurant itself is very clean and elegant looking and the staff we met were very nice and responsive. We ate there in the middle of the day on a weekday and it wasn't terribly crowded.

Amazing. I love Pho , I have had it all over the world and theirs is simply the best I've ever had. The broth is wonderful & full of flavor. I've had all of the different flavors and each is as good as the next.

That's because when you pull into the shopping plaza.....you don't see it. But if you circle around to the right, you'll see it on the side of the strip mall's buildings. And trust me, this spot is definitely worth hunting down to experience a standout breakfast or lunch. We walked in a little before 1:00 yesterday and found a table for two in the back left corner of the dining room, so we had a good view of the entire room. I have to tell ya, the place was packed! Breakaway closes at 3:00 every day except Sunday (2:00), and there were breakfast and lunch menus out, plus a few daily specials. My wife went with a "William's Ham Panini" ($17) with thin sliced ham, bacon, caramelized onions, cheddar and honey mustard on a grilled panini. We both were struck at how much ham was piled onto her sandwich. She had a few choices for a side dish and put her nickel down on potato salad. I went with The JT Salad ($16). The menu says it's been their "best-selling salad 25 years and counting". It was a big portion of mixed greens served with house balsamic dressing, grape tomatoes, gorgonzola cheese, and grilled chunks of teriyaki glazed chicken breast. It was stellar, with plenty of that yummy cheese and chicken. The only sour note with our lunch was a rather steep $4.25 for a glass of iced tea that was half-filled with ice. The food was very good and a decent amount of leftovers came home with us for another day. I was unexpectedly impressed by how crowded Bistro was on a random Monday. I bet you'll be too.

After seeing the menu, I decided to try their chicken katsu instead while my fiancé tried the beef ramen. We also got two medium bubble teas. Both drinks came out first. For mediums, they were pretty small (especially with a $7 price tag). I will say though, my creme brûlée oreo tea was incredible. I absolutely loved the flavor and the oreo in it. Still pricey but at least it was good. My fiancé ramen came out shortly after and we weren't too impressed. The beef broth was a muted color which looked more like miso. He said the noodles were sticky and pretty soft. I waited about 15 minutes until my chicken katsu came out (we were the only ones in there so it wasn't busy) and it looked promising... Good crunch but seems like chicken thighs were used as there was a good amount of fat in it. It quickly became kinda inedible because of how much sauce was covering the whole dish. I'm a sauce girly and love my condiments, but this was just so excessive. I asked for a box to go and maybe my fiancé will finish it later lol. The girl was so sweet and even offered MORE sauce to go, but i quickly declined. Overall, may be back for the teas if it's payday. Would not try the food again.

THEY HAVE CEASED OPERATIONS AND CLOSED…read more Here is their Facebook Post: It is with a profound sense of gratitude and sadness that we reach out to let you all know we have made the difficult decision to close The Lunette effective immediately. This choice was not made lightly, and it comes as a result of insurmountable challenges in maintaining adequate staffing in our kitchen, compounded by rising operational costs. Throughout our journey, our goal has always been to offer you an exceptional dining experience. Unfortunately, the challenges we have faced have made it increasingly difficult to maintain the standards that our guests deserve and expect. We know some of you will shake your heads and point to all of our faults. We've certainly had many but our greatest accomplishments, our three kids, deserve so much better than what we've been able to give them over the past year. We know some will question us for doing this on such short notice. Please know that we had no other choice. Without a kitchen staff we cannot operate the restaurant. We know that many of you will want to reach out to us to lend your support. We are taking this time to spend it with our family and catch-up on long overdue snuggles and hugs and memories. We hope that you do the same. Our son asked if we were sad that our dreams were over and we immediately responded and told him our dreams were standing right in front of us. We want to express our heartfelt thanks for your unwavering support and patronage. Your smiles, laughter, and loyalty have been the heart of our establishment and have inspired us every day. It has been an honor to serve you. We would like to offer to offer to replace any outstanding gift cards (excluding rewards balances) with a gift card from our sister location, Brewery Legitimus. To coordinate exchange of your Lunette gift card for a Brewery Legitimus gift please contact us at info@the-lunette.com. Thank you for being a part of our story. Although this chapter is closing, the memories we have shared will remain with us forever. We are hopeful for the future and wish you all the best in your culinary adventures. The Lunette

It's located in the quaint and quintessential town, Collinsville, CT. It's situated right on the Farmington River and just steps away from the historic Collins Axe Company. We went on a Saturday for lunch; there were plenty of parking. Since it's winter, the patio area overlooking the river was closed; I can't wait to dine on there when it gets warmer. They didn't have high chairs yet, but we improvised and brought our baby carriage in. The place was lovely; I loved the emerald green chairs and the plants on the walls as decor. The bar looked classy too. Our server was friendly and attentive. We started off with the cheese board; for $16 it came with three cheeses, nuts, fig jam, mini pickles, and crostini. The cheeses were blue cheese, brie, and gruyere. The board was great and had a good amount of cheese; I just wished there were more crostini to hold all the cheeses. They had an awesome food and cocktail menu. I ordered the pomegranate margarita $14; it had pear juice, tequila, honey, and triple sec and it was a tasty drink. I've been following them on social media for a bit and their short rib dish ($28) looked delicious. I had to get it for lunch even though it's a dinner entree. It's Legitimus beer braised short rib, carrots, onions, over garlic mashed potatoes and cheddar. The short rib melted in my mouth, the au jus was flavorful, and the mashed potatoes tied it all together. It was a 5 star dish. The ambiance, food, and service were 5 stars. The prices were a little high but you pay for the quality. They make their own syrups and juice their own lemons & limes for their cocktails. I look forward to going back and trying more food and drinks. I wish them much success in this awesome little town!

I've been wanting to try The Elephant Trail for at least four years now…read more So today, after running some errands in Simsbury and Canton, I pulled in for lunch. I was greeted warmly, and my neighbor and I were seated in a lovely booth by the window. Iced water was poured into the glasses that were sitting on the table, and lunch menus were placed in front of us No munchies or sauce were served while I was perusing the menu I placed my order for an order of chicken wings for the appetizer, and for $16.95, I ordered chicken and garlic sauce with white rice, along with hot and spicy soup and two small egg rolls My neighbor ordered a shrimp and Thai sauce lunch. Within five minutes, the chicken wings arrived 8 in total, which included 4 flats and 4 drumettes These chicken wings were seasoned perfectly, and then deep-fried to a golden brown. A beautiful spicy Thai sauce was served on the side. I could've made a meal out of these. These were some of the best chicken wings I've ever had in my 65 years here on earth. The Tom Young soup arrived, and it wasn't what I was expecting, boy was this thing sour and as soon as I hate it, I went whoa, the waitress saw that I didn't like it and offered to exchange it for Mayo soup which I gladly did. The miso soup was delicious seasoning so nicely with basil. So far, I am experiencing perfection. The dinners arrived, and buy garlic, chicken and vegetables with white rice was OK. It wasn't great, but don't get me wrong. It wasn't bad at all. I would've liked to see more garlic sauce, and maybe a little bit more spicy. Instead, it was rather bland. My neighbor loved the Thai shrimp and vegetable vegetables Restrooms were clean, and I loved the ambience, Thai casual. The total with the tip was just over $54. I am really on the fence if this is the best Thai in Connecticut or close to it. So far no. But I would gladly come here again because this would be a top five in the Avon Valley area. I love the experience, and our server gave us extraordinary service. This was a great experience. I just wish the main course was a little bit more seasoned. I will come here in the future and try a different dish

Did you ever cook rice and forget to salt it before you cooked it?…read more I went to Shu Express today, as I was craving some Sichuan cuisine, that had a little kick to it. So as I pulled into the Walmart-Big Y Plaza in Avon. I parked almost right in front of the little restaurant just to the left of Five Guys and the haircut place. After hearing how delicious lunch specials were, I decided to get one, and the owner/order taker informed me that because this is a holiday no lunch specials. I was ready to walk out. Then, after looking at the prices, I was double ready to walk out. But because of the trooper that I am, I ordered the Yangzhou fried rice. The order arrived, and it just didn't look right; but that's OK; I'm a trooper. The fried rice was missing corn and scallions, a staple to this Szechuan dish. As I dug in, it hit me immediately. There was no flavor. The rice had zip for flavor. The shrimp were not seasoned. The diced pork looked old, the beans sprouts looked OK, the peas looked fresh, and the mushrooms were warm, , but not cooked. This dish lacked flavor. It was almost like it tasted like water. I brought the dish back and asked if there was some type of sauce that could put on this dish, and the owner got pissed at me. Copped a real attitude. He gave me three little soy sauce packets and sent me on my way. How this restaurant earned 4 1/2 to 5 stars is beyond me. Yes, parking was great, yes, the place was spotless, but the food tasted like a dieters choice that you would order a Chinese restaurant like steamed broccoli with white rice. Flavorless and disappointing. Plus it wasn't cheap at $16 with a soda. Will I be back to this location to retry it? Nope With so many new locations popping up in Avon on Route 44, I'll spend my money elsewhere, trying new things. I'm just really disappointed in this place and the owner. Perhaps he should take a refresher course on customer service, and allow lunch specials on holidays. This place was not busy at all and I was there at lunchtime. I just don't see this place lasting.
