I think this just opened and the Classic Pho had so much flavor! The broth was tasty and there are 3 kinds of meat, brisket, sliced beef, "beef balls" as listed on menu. We've tried nearly every restaurant in the valley that serves pho, this is by far the best. This is a hidden gem that you must try. Its small, about six tables, but nicely turned out. The menu is limited to only a couple of dozen items, but to my mind, the pho is the star. It's rich with nice depth of flavor and servings are just the right size for one person. Pho House is an OK Vietnamese restaurant in Avon. The food is decent but extremely overpriced. They're currently take out only due to Covid but the service, from ordering over the phone to pick up, was excellent. My order consisted of Shrimp Spring Roll, Grilled Beef Banh Mi, Grilled Pork Banh Mi, and Vietnamese Ice Coffee with Boba. Order was ready within the time they quoted over the phone. Spring Roll order consisted of 2 rolls with peanut sauce on the side. They tasted fine but it was all noodle and barely any shrimp. Not a good value for $7. Vietnamese Ice Coffee was fine. Too much ice but tasted good. The Banh Mi's are not traditional compared to say Kien in Hartford. They come with mayo as opposed to patè. Bread was crispy and the sandwich itself is a decent size. The veges lacked enough pickle flavoring but still tasted good. However the amount of meat included is pitiful. For $13 each, I expect more. The one theme that would describe Pho House is decent food but lousy value. Just because they are in Avon doesn't justify them being at least 25% more expensive then other Vietnamese restaurants. read more

Pho House is at the intersection of kitchen mastery and family business charm. The family is warm and always happy to see our family come in. I have enjoyed various phos, including the veggie. The báhn mi options are delicious. I really like the salmon rolls, and my wife orders the tofu rolls. What's great is how uniquely tasty each option is. You can't go wrong. They also have bubble tea. Also, if you're from CA or spent time eating local pho in CT, you'd know this place has room for improvement. 501, 99, 68, Boston - all serve some delicious pho with a varying array of spices. ALWAYS, ALWAYS THE BEST! Special rice vermicelli and shrimp will blow your mind. The pho broth is exceptional, you can see the time they put into its development and flavor. Most pho places, even the better ones, have broth that's somewhat translucent while PHO HOUSE's broth is a rich brown of true beef broth. The shrimp is not just steamed like they are at the average pho place, PHO HOUSE adds garlic and herbs to make them extraordinary! The egg rolls are also a treat as are the banh mi. My friend and I visited here for the first time today on our lunch break. I ordered the Mango Madness Bubble Tea and she ordered Chicken Pho and the Mango, Taro Matcha Iced Tea with Boba. The facility was clean, well laid out, and well decorated- I really liked the table style and the fact that they had Siracha and hoisin sauce on the tables for you! We both felt that it was just really nice on the inside, despite being in one of the smaller corners of the plaza.The service was quick and friendly, and the restaurant smelled delicious! My friend really enjoyed her pho - she said the broth was super tasty and was filling; it looked like they gave a lot of stuff to put in it. The only thing we were both slightly disappointed in were the drinks. Well, for me I guess I wasn't disappointed...just confused. We both ordered tea, what we both received looked like a smoothie (which is something on the menu, but not what we asked for). She's dairy free and after looking at it asked if it contained any dairy- the gentleman she asked did say it had a little bit of milk and then also some sweetened condensed milk, so unfortunately she had to give hers away to a coworker. I have no issues with dairy so I was fine with drinking mine. I guess the most confusing part was the fact that we received smoothies - we both drink bubble tea a LOT, and normally unless you ask for it frozen, you receive a liquid tea... especially if the title of the drink contains "iced tea". My family was so excited to hear a real pho house was coming to Avon! We usually had to travel to get some good pho and boba tea. We have visited twice this week it was so good! Both times I got the classic pho which is beef and my husband got the chicken. The second time I added a side of oxtail to the broth. The decor is fresh, light and fun with bright paper lanterns. It is a small place but they have several large tables for parties more than 4. The staff were so friendly and helpful. You can tell they want the launch to go well and care about their product. The broth was flavorful, rich and fresh. The meat was fork tender and melts in your mouth. The first time I ordered a taro bubble tea which had a hint of rose to me and was not super sweet, loved it. The second time I got a hot Vietnamese coffee which was just the right level of strong and sweet. My husband got a drink the owner recommended called Mango Delight which was a tea with pieces of mango in it. Very refreshing! The spring rolls are stuffed with shrimp, noodles, and basil! Pho House has some of the nicest and most attentive service and owners I have come across. That being said, in my experience eating pho across the country, this is not exactly what I would classify as pho. When your bowl comes out, there are no extra garnishes, no plate of bean sprouts, chilis, lime wedges, and Thai basil. The anise flavor of the broth and addition thereof by the Thai basil is a staple of pho that was missing and notably so. We got one order of the beef pho and one order of chicken pho and requested beef broth as usually chicken broth is not a common option for pho. The chicken was three slices of boiled chicken breast. Not poached, not braised, not simmered and shredded. Tough, dry, and chewy unfortunately. Given it is in Avon, it is understandable that the bowls would each cost a little more than they would in East Hartford at Pho 501 or in West Hartford at Pho Boston, but it just did not feel worth it with the quality of the food. This is a restaurant run by wonderfully kind and attentive people, but if you love pho, you should probably just pass. read more

I don't know about this place. The Pho broth had black peppers--WHY? The spring rolls were just ok. They just assumed I want to dip my spring rolls in peanut sauce, NOT. Give me authentic fish sauce! Highly disappointed at the price and amount of meat that was in the traditional Pho. One meatball?! The pieces of beef were also extremely fatty. Broth seemed a bit off with a strange cinnamon taste. Hope that place improves as it just opened but for $13 for a bowl of Pho that pricey for the out put. please provide more meat and also more of the items also go into Pho (lack of bean sprouts and hardly any basil). The flavor is a touch below that of Pho Boston but I'm thankful there's a pho place closer to me now. This pho is better than Tiger Belly's pho. Decor is basically the most elegant pho place I've been in. I wish the appetizers weren't so expensive and wish they had a more traditional bah mi. A great Pho spot close by!!! I love it!!! The decor is simple, nice and clean. I was there for lunch and the only waitress was friendly and prompt. My pho came out very quickly. The pho was excellent. I had the steak. It did have steak balls in it that I'm not a huge fan of. I've never had the basil and bean sprouts served already in the soup. Usually on the side with a slice or two of jalapeños and a piece of lime. Not here. Not a big deal but I do like to do that myself. Could use small dipping "plates" on the table for those of us who dip our meat in sriracha etc. Also missing is dry chili flakes or chilies in oil. All in all it's excellent. YUM!! My husband and I have been constant visitors to a Pho restaurant in West Hartford. We do love that place, but because we live in Avon, we gave this place a try. I love that it's much closer too us, but the pho is actually the BEST I've ever had! I've had the chicken in beef broth, and the classic. Oh my God!! So good! I was so excited to try this new Restaurant in Avon. We also ordered a chicken, vegetable, beef pho and 2 orders of spring rolls. The spring rolls were fine but the pho... I love Pho, but this is a bad imitation. The broth was extremely bland, so bland that I had to squirt a good amount of Sriracha and and hoisin sauce to make it palatable.
