Wanted a healthy, reasonably priced meal and I found this place not too far from where I was staying. I had the vegan pho and the papaya salad w/ tofu. The pho with veggie broth was good, but had a lot of celery in it that was a bit overpowering in flavor. The portion was a good size! The papaya salad was huge, and great flavor! If I lived here, I'd be a regular probably. The lady running the joint was super friendly and sweet, and even offered water to people waiting for their takeout orders. Stopped by for some pho and fried spring rolls tonight and managed to slurp up some amazingly (and uncharacteristically) yummy broth. New cook!!! New managers, too! The decor hasn't changed but the food presentation is a little better. It could simply be all those lovely smiles on the ladies who now run the place -- so helpful, and so willing to recommend things from their menu for "next time," like their temple rolls and green papaya salad. If you haven't been there for a while please give them a try again, I'm sure you'll undoubtedly come away happier. 1 of the best Flavorful Pho on island. I'd rank this Place top 5 Pho on island..! Cute quaint hole in the wall Vietnamese restaurant, visible from Street view, located next to OnStage. Parking is actually hard to find. You can risk parking at the Safeway parking lot and walk on over or find parking on street of Winam Ave. Seating is a smaller side, about 7 tables. We came here during weekday, lunch around Noonish, and luckily we had a table to seat us party of 2. The aunties are super friendly and so cute! I think the waitress and cook are twins?!! And presume owners as well since I always seem them when I come to eat. Prices are very reasonable. Pho, is flavorful, clear & clean light brown broth. Cost about $8.50. Taste the soup first before you decide to add any of your seasoning/sauces that you normally do, cuz I don't think it's necessary. Maybe on side, but not straight into the bowl. Portion is on the smaller side, but it's a good way to get an appetizer, so you don't fill your tummy with all that broth & noodles. Lol so what my Bf ordered was the "Vietnamese spring rolls" Apparently there's also, "local spring rolls", just rolls, excludes the lettuce, noodles, cucumbers and rolls are wrapped in a different wrap. We got the Vietnamese spring rolls (didn't get to take pic cuz my BF starting eating it as I reached into my purse for my phone and I wasn't about to post eaten foods) LOL it was good. Cost about $9.50. Also, can't go wrong getting Thai tea, $2.50, to end your meal or during, it was good as well. Anywho, if you love Pho like me and my BF, come give this place a try. Delicious, fresh, plentiful food! I love all the basil in everything. And the coffee is the best coffee you can get on Kapahulu! Seriously! Grass jelly drinks are good too, milk tea is strong with caffeine, but not too sweet. Banana tapioca is wonderful too. read more

This is my number one pho spot. I tell everyone I know to come here, because the pho broth will absolutely heal your soul! Been coming here since my first visit back in 2018, and stop in every time I'm in the area. Food is ALWAYS fresh, and the staff are so nice, and friendly. Since we live within walking distance of this place, we've found our new neighborhood favorite. The food is delicious, but my favorite part about coming here is the workers/owners. They know how to treat customers! A lot of restaurants could learn a few things from them - I'm always blown away by how friendly they are to everyone. Solid four stars overall. Service is five stars for sure. We felt like pho and our usual place is Hale Vietnam but I like trying new pho places so we tried here for the first time. We did takeout. The younger guy working took our order and was very helpful with our questions. We ordered rare steak beef pho and a spring roll plate (they have the deep fried rice paper wrapped one, as well as the 'regular' egg roll type outside, we chose the latter) plus two extra spring rolls. While we were waiting, the young guy working brought us ice water and a delicious buttered toast thing (which they sell for $3 per container) to try. Excellent service. I'm not used to being served water and a small appetizer while waiting for our take out order! The pho was good, veggies were fresh - the broth has a more fragrant taste/aroma, I kind of prefer Hale Vietnam but it was still good. The spring rolls were VERY good. I actually want to go pick some up tomorrow again! I would definitely come back. Looking at some of the older reviews, I see that management has supposedly changed? I was here 4 years ago & tried the Beef Stew noodle soup, It was amazingly good, I was very surprised to eat in Waikiki ordinary area with extra ordinary Vietnamese Beef Stew almost to the perfection, the aroma, flavor, thicker soup broth from slow cooking. This is a tiny little restaurant and my experience here was amazing. My partner ordered the steak pho and I had the peanut satay tofu with vegie spring rolls. Seafood pho is called seafood pho if you have more than one type of seafood in the pho. If you only have shrimp, you should call it shrimp pho. Papaya salad was good although I haven't had a papaya salad in so long that I don't have a base to compare it to. The older man working there was not very friendly. We ordered a shrimp spring roll thinking it was not fried. Turns out the summer roll is what we should have ordered. The women working there were kind and very helpful. I'm not a fan of the beefy oily flavor of the Pho broth-and these Ladies make a true Vegetable Pho (no beef broth here) so clean and yummy! The quality of service and friendliness of this restaurant is superb! Great for students, as there's a 10% discount with student id. The pho here is alright to me, but I'm a hard critic when it comes to pho. I think it's definitely worth it for the price however. The best pho in Oahu! I always get the house special with a summer roll to begin with. The server greets you as soon as you get in and is very welcoming. She gave me some jello while we were waiting for our food then a piece of mochi for the finale. Also the tofu roll is amazing and their sauce is on point! Not bad. Not bad at all. The egg rolls are pretty good. Especially, they're cooked more correctly as "Viet style" egg rolls b/c they use actual rice paper & deep fried it. That's how good Viet style egg rolls supposed to be. Minor problem though & please fix if you can: 1) Rice plate. Technically, these are supposed to be "Com Tam". I recommend would be nice to make your dish an actual Com Tam by including Com Tam features besides the rice, veggies & grilled meats such as Cha Chung, Bi Tinh, & maybe Chung Op La. 2) Pho. Broth needs more cowbone flavor & star anise & onions. Also, it would be nice if you can include a "Pho Dac Biet" in your menu where you have ALL sorts of beefs in the pho. 3) Parking is an issue. Please put a sign in front of your store in recommended place to park. 4) Restaurant is a bit cramp. If include some outdoor seating, that'll help make the restaurant a bit more spacious. The food here was absolutely delicious! I couldn't even slow myself down from devouring it quickly! The ladies that work and run the restaurant are complete sweethearts and gave top notch service! A pretty solid 4 stars. I live in the area and this is one I'll return to time and again. My partner was not sure about Vietnamese food before we went in---so I tried to order conservatively and get her chicken. I picked a dish I thought she'd like and then forgot to order it "chicken." Rather than asking our waiter brought her the mixed seafood--which she absolutely loved. So a word of warning--order carefully or you are at the chef's mercy--this time it worked out for the best!! When we arrive the place was empty but it did fill up quite a bit while we were there. I walked there from home so parking was not a problem, but Safeway is right around the corner with a roof top lot so I can't imagine parking is really a problem--although street parking is very limited. Prices were excellent, food very good, service also very good--just order very carefully or be ok with surprises! read more
