We stopped in for a family dinner when our destination nearby was on a wait. The crispy wings, spring rolls, crispy tofu, and chicken satay appetizers were all delicious. The ingredients were all fresh and the food was delightfully seasoned and prepared. For dinner we had pho (sliced steak), pad Thai, Laotian fried rice, a mango salad, and pad see ew all of which were again fresh, flavorful and nicely seasoned. With that said, the star of the night was the crispy duck! We almost walked by the brightly lit and spare restaurant, but had heard the food was good so we stopped in. We are happy that we did. Ordered through a delivery service. Maybe their pho is better through dine in, but I wasn't super impressed with it. I will say the broth is excellent, but the chicken left a lot to be desired. It was dry and a combination of white and dark meat and honestly I wouldn't be surprised if some of it was pork because the taste was off. It's served with the usual bean sprouts, jalapeño slices, Thai basil leaves, and lime wedges. I asked for chili oil and they gave me sriracha; maybe they were out? Best pho place in town! Currently my favorite restaurant in New Haven at this price range (around $15 / meal). Portions are a decent size and pho broth is not too sweet which I appreciate, though I wish they gave a bit more meat. Drunken noodles are good as well. The one stand-out dish in my opinion is the green papaya salad -- a must-try if you like spicy and vinegary flavors (3/5 spiciness level is perfect for me and I tend to like spicy foods). Waitstaff was professional and very pleasant. Food was AWESOME! I got the Pho which was the best Pho ever! My daughter got a curry seafood dish and she loved it and was amazed how much seafood was in the dish. They will validate your parking ticket which is wonderful! Best bubble tea in New Haven, much better than one that just sells bubble tea.

Small, quaint and clean. Very friendly service. Had the chicken spring rolls which were yummy and a small bowl of pho which was just the right size for me. Left feeling satisfied. Only complaint I had was the lack of beef in my pho. I literally had three halved pieces of meatball and three slices of beef, some brisket or a few more slices of beef would've been great. Already on my fourth visit. After trying the pho (the most basic one, with the meatballs), I'm not impressed with the pho itself. I wouldn't come for the pho, in fact, if I'm in the mood for Vietnamese pho. For starters, the noodles lack texture - they were so soft that it didn't take much chewing. Pho noodles, while supposed to be soft rice noodles, can have more bite to them. Second, the broth is much clearer and lighter than what you could get at a typical authentic Vietnamese Pho place; if you like the heavy beef taste, the broth would be too light here. Finally, the meatballs tasted more like fishcake than meat. I don't know if it was due to the way they make meatballs Laotian style, but just don't expect grainy ground meat texture. Meatballs were rather chewy/bouncy, very similar to fish cake balls at Ivy Noodle. Still impressed by the kow piek sen, however the portions (both the amount of meat and the noodles) had slightly decreased on my second visit. Hope they don't shrink any further.. I save my praise for the Laotian sausage special. If Pho Ketkeo can keep up with the quality and quantity of their Lao Sausage and Kow Piek Sen, I'm sold. That sausage is a must-order. Heavy with the scent of lemongrass, the sausage hits all the right spots. Accompanying sticky rice is great but not enough to fill me for a meal. The best part? MINT. They give you MINT if you ask for them. This is the first SE Asian restaurant I've been to in New Haven that has fresh mint leaves and is NOT stingy with them. Place a mint and onion and ginger bits on a sausage piece dipped in a special sauce that is 10 times better tasting than nuoc cham sauce at other places - and you get this. It is amazing. I hope they keep it up, and hope they don't run out. Other small but not to be missed features of the restaurant? Wifi, check. Glasses for ice water, check. booster seats AND high chairs for the little ones, check. A Koala Care diaper changing station in the bathroom. I believe that's the first time I've seen a changing station in an Asian restaurant ANYWHERE. As a parent, a big thank you. I appreciate that. Now, if they could start that Khao Poon noodle with thick rice vermicelli anytime soon, I'm going back. read more

I was really excited to try this place but I will definitely not be going back to try it now. First time to Pho Ketkeo. My fiancé and I have been trying to find a decent place to get some good Pho that was in a good radius from Milford. The Pho was phenomenal. The reason I gave 2 stars is because the service was awful. We waited 45-50 minutes for our food to reach our table. They completely forgot about our order and served everyone else around us in a timely manner. Then, we had to ask for the check twice and when the second request hadn't been fulfilled, 25 minutes later, we decided to go up to the hostess desk to pay only to find our waitress behind a wall on her cell phone. We get it, life is hard, who knows what's going on in your personal life...but you do have a job. That's a good thing..why not be good at it? read more

Been there twice now and I've had two great experiences! My boyfriend and I randomly found the place one afternoon shortly before they closed. When they saw what time it was, the waiter hesitated briefly and then smiled and said they could serve us in plenty of time. I got the basil fried rice and my boyfriend got the vegetarian pho. The vegetables were some of the freshest I've ever seen in a city restaurant, the broth was delicious, my fried rice wasn't drowning in basil and was deliciously spiced without taking away from the flavor of the dish, and we were made to feel welcome and non-rushed, even after the kitchen closed we were told to take our time. The next time we went, my boyfriend got the drunken noodles and I got the three flavored fish, and we shared an order of chicken satay. The meat was well cooked, the noodles were wide and flavorful, the tilapia was phenomenally prepared, and the peanut sauce with the satay was delicious. We just happened upon this place. 1st the staff is just wonderful. 2nd the food was amazing. Everything we all tried was so good. I had the massaman curry which was wonderful. I skipped dessert and just kept eating my curry. The desserts were shared around. Everything was so super yummy. We will definitely be going back here. read more

We tried Pho Ketkeo on grand opening day and it was amazing! We ordered the lychee bubble tea and taro bubble tea with crab rangoon (best crab rangoon I have ever had), calamari, shrimp pho, and Kow Mun Gai (we were hungry!). We ordered chicken satay, papaya salad, pho, and basil fried rice. The portion of food was really good for the price. We were stuffed. We've had papaya salad from various different restaurants and have to say this was the best. Most places make it sweet. Not this one, papaya salad is suppose to be eaten spicy and this was on point. The pho was on the sweeter side but still very good. It just meant that I didn't have to add sugar in my broth like other places. We were full so we took basil fried house home and I finished it the next day. We will definitely be back for more. read more
