Chicken Bahn mi

Pho P1 Special combo with slices of rare beef, fatty brisket, tendon, tripe, and flank is the truth. Not the best broth I've had, but exactly what I needed for lunch. Served with bean sprouts, vanilla, lime, jalapeños. Excellent customer service, clean dining area, soothing background music. Definitely will return.

Iced coffee and thai tea, so good!

This is such a nice mom and pop place I wish them all the best. The food is spectacular guys. The broth is very authentic and not over done like all the other places that try to be fancy. It's very cozy and intimate. However, it makes me sad we were the only one in there. The service is superb and the appetizers tickled all my fancy. You should try the crispy tofu. I've never eaten tofu that crispy. 10 out of 10. Spring rolls were fresh and the vegetables also looked fresh. Perfect place to take the whole family.

The food was great! I had been looking for a new pho place as the one I frequented had closed down months ago. I called over the phone to place an order and the owner was very friendly! I walked into the restaurant and it was very homey feeling the owner took care of us. The broth was delicious it was so flavorful that it smelled sweet and savory before eating.

This place has the best fried chicken wings ever. A perfect combination of sweet, salty, and spicy. This has been my 6th or 7th time and the chicken wings never let me down. I recommend to pair this with a side of rice and soy sauce along with spring rolls. It's bomb, trust. Every time I come down to SD, I always stop by here. The chicken wings are so good I dream about them. Appreciate the greatness that this family owned business brings to the community. I feel like I'm in heaven whenever I get seated down since the music is very calming. Overall, please support this family owned business. It's legit. Though, I only tried the pho once and to be honest I don't really remember how it tasted but if it was bad, I would remember so I'm pretty sure it was decent. Unfortunately, I was too distracted by the chicken wings. A+++++

The atmosphere is cozy with a clean dining room that feels very comfortable. The service was friendly and attentive from start to finish. Small, quaint, family friendly restaurant. I ordered the pho, plus 3 crispy rolls, which was delicious and packed with flavor. The broth was rich, with the perfect balance of spices, and the noodles were cooked just right. The fresh herbs and toppings like basil, bean sprouts, and lime added the perfect finishing touch. The average size but a little light on the meat portion however meat was tender and flavorful. Overall, it was a good experience, and I'll be coming back for more pho. Extremely reasonably priced.

Stopped by after work. They close at 9 but we got there at 8 and they were only doing take out orders at that time. I assume it's because they don't want to stay late. Kind of disappointing when you want to sit & eat vs take out. We ended up ordering to go to try it out any way. Shrimp spring rolls - typically most Vietnamese restaurants I've been to will serve spring rolls with shrimp and a meat (either beef or pork), however, just as the name says, it's just shrimp spring rolls. For me, I like a proportionate of protein and veggies, but the shrimp spring rolls were just for 4 half sliced shrimps (so technically 2 shrimps a spring roll) with lettuce, a little bit of noodles, and mostly bean sprouts. Chicken wings - they smelled really good on the way home, but the chicken wings were small, like party size chicken wings, and barely had any meat on them. Pho Tai Chin - my boyfriend, and I both got the pho. It wasn't bad, but there are many other places with better broth. I think the meat portion is decent. I had asked for extra cilantro, but in comparison to what my boyfriend got, it looks about the same portion of cilantro. I asked for some Sriracha to go, but I noticed it was an off brand. I thought it would be what they had in the restaurant in a little container. Overall, the pho was okay. I really wanted to love this place since so close to my house but I don't think I will be back. A lot of our experience wasn't a big deal but we would rather just go somewhere else that we can get what we want and actually be able to sit down.

Love this place, used to come here all the time before I moved out of town. Decided to check it out while visiting family. Sadly met with rotten meat when I opened it up at home :/

Our Go-to Pho place! The food is always fresh and delicious. The Pho broth instantly makes you feel cozy and hits the spot every single time. Service is friendly and attentive. We're here at least once a month and recommend it to anyone looking for good and chill vibes.

I've lived in the Valley for about 7 years now and never tried any of the Asian spots around here only because I'm skeptical about how it'll taste tailored to Americans so I usually just go down to City Heights or the more known spots. However, I was hungover last night and did not want to drive anywhere far so I decided to check out my local area. Right off the bat I'm going to mention it was a bit Americanized. It's a small establishment with a few tables. Plenty of parking in the same gas station plaza. My son and I came here at 8:10pm and there were a few people seated and a lot of people trickling in and out which I liked. Some were to-go and some were dine-in. The staff was very friendly and accommodating and it was a nice family business owned vibe. We ordered for both dine-in and takeout for my husband. I got the special #p1 pho, my son #p7, and our takeout was for pork banh mi, beef banh mi, pork eggrolls, and shrimp spring rolls. I calculated my total and realized I was upcharged about over $3 which isn't a big deal but idk for what. Maybe the extra requests I made which is normally free at other pho establishments. Everything was really good and friendly and I enjoyed my visit. I would definitely come back if I were not willing to make the drive to the hood but wouldn't crave this place. I asked for chili oil and they gave a hefty amount which I love. I asked for the onions on the side along with "nuoc beo" which is the green onion whites in oil. They brought out diced green onions in oil lol which is fine but I figured because they don't get that request often. The broth was good on its own. My son and I tried it before putting ingredients in. However I noticed their hoisin sauce isn't like the normal pho spots it had a strong smell and was very sweet so that messed up my broth a bit. I also had to ask for fish sauce since they only had Knorr seasoning sauce out. Again, very understandable. My husband said the eggrolls and spring rolls were good and average like any other place. Now the banh mis. I know they tailor it towards Americans but dang it needed a lot of work! I initially asked if they had pate to add to their sandwiches and the waiter said no but I still proceeded to order 2; pork and beef. They were the lemongrass pork and beef that you eat with your bun (vermicelli noodles) dishes so as expected. But omg the bread was so hard and crumby like it was old since people don't order it often. It lacked flavor too such as pate, mayo, and seasoning sauce. I warmed it up the next day for leftovers and the bread got softer in the microwave making it easier to eat.

We were seated along the wall which had booth seating, which I prefer. For drinks I ordered a Thai tea no boba and the hubs a coke. We order the following items for dinner: Appetizers - - Crispy egg rolls - with pork (4 pieces) - served with veggies and fish sauce, these were tasty. - Salt pepper chicken wings - (8 pieces) they were a tad over fried but flavor was good. - Spring rolls - (2 pieces) with pork and shrimp, we ordered these Togo. Hubs enjoyed these for a late evening snack. Entrees - - Combination fried rice - chicken, shrimp and cha siu (Chinese bbq pork) I liked the flavoring of the fried rice - it was not bland, but I did mix in a tiny bit of hoisin sauce. - Pho rare steak - overloaded with green onions and cilantro. We always order pho but I really wasn't feeling it that evening, so it was all the hubs. If you love tons of green onions and cilantro, get it! The broth had a really strong flavoring of the cilantro. Overall dinner was fairly good. Seemed like there were regular customers that visited often. Staff were super nice and friendly. Parking lot was not packed at all. If in the area, I'd visit again. 2026: 7

It first started in Linda Vista in 1988,…read moreserving traditional Vietnamese family-style meals before moving to its current home on Convoy in 1992. Today, it's one of the most well-known Vietnamese restaurants in the city, and after this visit, I can definitely see why. One of my favorite things about coming here is the location. Even though it's right in Convoy, parking has never been an issue for me. I usually avoid the area because finding a spot can be a headache, but Phuong Trang has a large parking lot that makes stopping by so much easier. I came in for a quick takeout lunch. One thing to know before you go is they don't accept Apple Pay, so make sure to bring a physical card or cash. The staff was incredibly welcoming. They greeted me when I walked in, gave me plenty of time to look over the menu, and never made me feel rushed. That kind of hospitality really stood out. I ordered the Char-Grilled Beef Vermicelli and the Shrimp, Pork & Jellyfish Salad. The salad comes with shredded green papaya, celery, cucumber, carrots, shrimp, pork, jellyfish strips, fresh mint, crushed peanuts, and shrimp chips. The salad was refreshing with plenty of shrimp and jellyfish throughout. I especially liked the crunch from the green papaya. My only complaint was that the dressing felt a little one dimensional. I wish it had a little more brightness to bring out the fresh herbs and vegetables. It was still enjoyable, though. The Char-Grilled Beef Vermicelli was my favorite of the two. It came with vermicelli noodles, fresh herbs, pickled daikon and carrots, crushed peanuts, plus five grilled beef rolls wrapped around scallions. The beef had a delicious smoky flavor from the grill. The only downside was that the inside of the rolls was a little chewy since it didn't get the same char as the outside. Even so, every bite was packed with flavor, so it wasn't enough to take away from the dish. Between the friendly service, quick turnaround for takeout, and solid food, I can see why Phuong Trang has stayed so popular for all these years. I'd happily come back and keep working my way through their menu.

It tasted like a pretty generic iced tea with mango syrup. Nothing bad but nothing memorable either. The Grilled Beef Vermicelli is where everything went wrong for me. Honestly, the whole plate was extremely bland. The beef was probably the biggest disappointment. Even looking at it, there was barely any seasoning. There was some scallion oil on top, but it did not do much to help the flavor. The meat was also insanely tough. For beef sliced that thin, I genuinely do not know how it ended up being that hard to chew. The fish sauce was also really bland, which did not help when the rest of the plate already needed more flavor. The vegetables tasted fresh, but altogether, the dish just was not enjoyable. I kept trying to mix everything together hoping it would get better, but it never really came together. I have been to Pho Superbowl a couple of times before.
