I might have finally found another contender for best summer rolls on Oahu. Their summer rolls had both pork and shrimp. They also had cucumber and bean sprouts. Other mediocre restaurants only put shrimp lettuce and noodles. Peanut sauce was ono too! It was just a quick snack stop on the way home but I was very pleased. I ordered the lemon grass chicken salad and it was so bad. The lettuce was old the chicken flavor was not what I'm used to. Also ordered spring rolls which look fine in the photo I'm gonna add but same problem old lettuce, and the noodles weren't fully cooked it had like a chalky taste. Parking is fine. Inside the restaurant is decent. When I asked for a to go box the older man working got me a used dirty one with sharpie on it he looked at it debating to give it then handed it to me. I called the lady over and asked for a new box and ended up throwing away everything because after that interaction I can't even imagine what the cleanliness is like in the kitchen. We were looking for our usual Pho place to eat, but discovered that it is now permanently closed. Conveniently, this Pho restaurant is located across the street. We have seen this restaurant many times, but never stopped in. When we entered, the first thing we noticed was the heat in the restaurant. Not sure if this is how they want it due to the new Covid restrictions. But, it was a bit unpleasant. The aroma of the food cooking, however, smelt good! We opted to take out as it was a bit crowded anyway. There seemed to be only 2 people seating customers and busing the tables. We waited about 10 minutes to order our take out. Take out area is in my picture :) After taking our order we waited about another 10-15 minutes and were out the door. Overall, the broth is good. Not exactly what we were expecting but it was okay. The summer rolls were a mixture of shrimp and pork. I should've asked to omit the pork. Maybe next time we are in the area I will remember. I think that we will try one more time before deciding if this will be our Pho place to go when in the area. Staff were very busy and appeared stressed. I have several family-owned Vietnamese restaurants that I like to go to depending on which side of the island that I'm on, and when in Kapolei or Koolina, it is Pho One. As expected, everything is fresh and made to order. For me, what sets them apart from others is that they bake their own French baguettes for the Bánh mì sandwiches, and to serve with their slow cooked Vietnamese Beef Stew. I've had the beef stew several times as it is uniquely Colonial French-Vietnamese and truly falls in the category of comfort food. I've also enjoyed their Pho, Wonton Mien Soup, Spring Rolls (Chả giò), and House Special Manapua which is layered with several ingredients in the stuffing. Comes with bean sprouts, Thai basil, and lettuce. I use hoisin and hot sauce for the noodles and won tons. The egg noodles were perfectly al dente. It was the perfect consistency. There were five won tons in my bowl. They were made of pork and some filler, couldn't figure out what it was. There was slices of pork, a piece of calamari, half a squid meat ball, and one shrimp in the bowl. The broth was tasty and flavorful but had a good layer of fat on it. I am one to not waste a good broth but I stopped at a third because of the fat content. Judging on only the one dish I had, it seems like the quality had gone down hill since that last time I ate there. Service was good. I was seated right away. Great selection of classic dishes not normally served at your modern Vietnamese cuisine. The atmosphere is genuine and relaxing, very inviting and prompt service. I always look for the Bún Bò Huế in any spot, if you're looking for the one with pork blood and all the extra toppings it may be an extra cost to add on. But I was fine just testing out how they served it, it comes in one size and I'm a big eater, happily satisfied! You get all the traditional veggies that come on the side with plentiful satay sauce and condiments. My friends got the beef brisket pho with rare steak, first time for them and they loved it! Stopped in after Saturday night service for a late dinner. It was around 800, and we were seated immediately and the owner was our server. We love that they don't skimp out on the veggies and when we ask for extra, another bag is available for an additional charge (worth it for us). We also always order their beef stew which is hard to touch anywhere else. We haven't dined in since covid, but the restaurant has always been well maintained and clean. Please if you are about to eat here please read this review because I am not lying when I say the service SUCKS. We had to wait for everything and even had to walk up to our server to get his attention. He NEVER asked us if we were good or needed anything else he just left every time. As soon as we got our food, I went to say "Excuse Me" to ask for something but our server just walked away. Our whole meal we didn't have any condiment bowls to mix our day sauces. On top of that, we ordered a iced coffee. Keep in mind that the ice coffee comes in a hot mug condensed milk on the bottom of that mug with ice on the side. We politely asked our server for more creamer or anything and guess what he did? He actually had the AUDACITY to spoon the smallest drop out of the cup of and say here's the rest of the condensed milk from the ice tea. And said it taste so much better with it. We tried it and it tasted the same because well, all he did whatever was in that hot cup into the iced cup. He did NOT OFFER any creamer or condensed milk which I know they have. He just left like that small drop of the same coffee will change the flavor After I had to manually get up and get our check because we have been waiting so long with no service. Then again our server told us "Now you know to scoop all of the coffee in the mug" like how cheap can you be? At the end we asked for a takeout container and he RUDELY and unnecessarily said "For What?" Like i wasn't allowed to do that either. This little restaurant in Kapolei is a great one! We called at 7:50 pm to let them know we were going to be on our way in with a party of 15 (9 adults and 6 kids) and they were ready 10 minutes later when we arrived. The restaurant is next to Assagio's in Kapolei and shares it's parking lot. It's bright and clean, and has lots of tables. We were greeted with a smile and set up at tables immediately. When you have a large party, getting all the orders (and getting them correct) can be tricky. It was no problem here! Our food came out quickly, hot and correctly. Everything I tried was tasty, I especially liked the meatloaf which was tender and light. My pork chop was a little tough, but the bbq pork was flavorful and tender. Their was a hair in the meat. My server tried to tell me that it's animal hair and that "happens sometimes with this kind of meat" That's clearly human hair intertwined into the meat. I wasn't gonna say anything, but there's so many other reviews with hair in their food, it's concerning. My friend bit into the hairy meat without realizing. It was also cooked into our pho. We have no idea id we'd eaten some of it. Disgusting. Please take more sanitary precautions in the future. It's one thing to have a hair fall onto your food by accident, but it's another thing to have hair inside of the piece of meat, and still serve it.
