Ok. Ive been to 3 other pho places in the Arlington area and this is my new favorite. Such a comfortable environment, great parking, and the sauces here i swear are better. They give you more bean sprouts and more basil than anywhere else. And a bigger slice of lemon too. Really nice service, great quality, and good selection of music. An A+ in my book of places to eat pho. Price is the same as the other places...cheap! Lol I definitely recommend this restaurant. Pho Palace is usually a restaurant that is always an option when we are in the mood for some Vietnamese food. However, we won't be returning after today's experience. Here's why. I ordered their combination noodle soup today and found a fly in the broth. My issue is not with this happening (they can't control where flies decide to land), more with their reaction to this issue. I was appalled by their response when we pointed this out to them. Now I don't understand Vietnamese, but the gf pretty much said that she was swatting flies all day since they were all over the place. She was asking if we saw it fly into my bowl. My expectation was for them to not charge me for largely uneaten bowl. They only offered to make me a new bowl and insisted the fly flew into my soup. Having lost my appetite and not knowing if the broth was contaminated, I declined. While this is not a knock on the taste of their food, we're highly concerned about their sanitary conditions. They may have earned their money for their bowl today, but they will never earn another penny from us or our recommendation. Highly disappointed. read more

Went here with my friend today, food was good, service was fine, however we both got the Vietnamese coffee before we left and our cups were filled full of ice and half way of coffee. I asked if they could fill up our cups to the top and they suggested they fill it with more ice and explained that "it's supposed to be filled half way" and refused to fill it. I'm falling in love with Arlington; there are so many Vietnamese restaurants around town, so there's always someplace new to try. I decided the give Phò Palace a try after reading several Yelp reviews from friends and others. I arrived right after the lunch crowd. The staff was busy cleaning and getting things back in order, but they were quick to seat me and attentive. They brought out menus and took drink orders and straightaway. After examining the menu I decided on one of my favorite Viet dishes, Phò Gà with a Spring Roll appetizer. The Spring Roll was one of the better rolls that I've had recently. Fresh, tightly rolled, and the shrimp was sweet & tender. Everything held together down to the very last bite. As for the Phò, the broth was flavored well and chicken was perfectly cooked. Overall, a very good bowl. The only thing I wished for was a little more chicken. Lately, I've been spoiled by the amount of protein in my bowls at other places. But that aside, the experience was largely a good one. It's definitely on my list of Viet places to return. Next time, I'll probably try the Bún Vermicelli or Báni Mì. read more

Ok, I came back when I could eat real food and I ordered some real food and all was good. I had the #77 and the #A-6 which are a vermicelli dish with grilled pork and shrimp cake and some pork patty spring rolls. The vermicelli dish was very generously sized, about 2 meals worth of food, with a good amount of pork and vegetables and a few large pieces of shrimp cake. It tasted very fresh. I liked the inclusion of fresh mint leaves particularly. The spring rolls were very good too. I'm not sure exactly how they make the pork patty, it has an interesting flavor. They serve it with a peanut like sauce. I may try the shrimp ones next time. They had an interesting assortment of vegetables and herbs inside, I'm not sure what they all were, but they tasted good. read more

For the first time in almost 10 years, we came back to find the original Pho Palace still standing strong as its neighboring businesses wobble on dilapidated legs. The updates to the interior and the menu are reflected in the slight bump in food prices, but my combination pan fried noodles were pretty good and less than $10 so I can't complain too much. However, DH had major, erm, issues after finishing a pho that I did not touch. So with pho restaurants at every other corner of central Arlington, we're not in any rush to return. read more

Love this joint. It's my go to Pho close to home. Service has been good but I wouldn't rave about it. Definitely don't know anyone by name here and I've been multiple times so don't think that relationship is going anywhere hahah The food is what stands out for me. I pretty much always order the number 10 pho with beef steak. I've tried multiple dishes from friends and have always appreciated what they have ordered. The beef is well flavored and the noodles are easy to suck down. The broth kicks some serious tail. The flavor has never been disappointing and I usually can drink the whole bowl without thinking twice. I usually regret this decision later because I'm stuffed but otherwise it's heavenly. In addition to my number 10 I order a coconut juice and on occasion a B1 - which is the Banh Mi with Charbroiled Pork. Gotta say this is one of the highlights of my meal. The B1 has an incredible flavor with the dueling tastes of spicy and delicious meat. The bread is perfectly crispy and I've taken one home to eat later. Also a good decision. I dined here about a week ago. No masks required upon entering. Staff are wearing masks and gloves. The tables are blocked off for social distancing. There are no sauces or utensils on the table. Pho Palace was the first Vietnamese restaurant that I was introduced to when I moved to Arlington. Personally, its my favorite Vietnamese restaurant around the area, I just often forget about it because I'm not around the location that much. Pros: big and bright restaurant, much more clean than other Vietnamese restaurants in Arlington. Doesn't skimp on the portions and generally, flavors are always on point. There's also a full page of vegetarian food. Cons: not very great customer service. After they take your order, its hit or miss if they remember to check up on you. I find that most dishes and smoothies/boba dribks here are good, except the pho broth isn't the best. It's a good broth, but I recommend to try other thing that aren't pho here. I had a dinner at this restaurant last night, ordered my Pho, a avocado smoothie and Hu tiu ap chao. I found a worm in veggies, it was so disgusting. My smoothie came out and tasted like shaved ice, asked cashier to refund or make me another drink, they did another drink and this time it had plenty sugar in it, too much sugar to drink, maybe they wanted to sweet the hell out of me, I guessed. I asked waitress to bring Hu tiu ap chao before my Pho, so I could enjoy them both when they were hot, waitress ran into kitchen, 10 later they brought out my Pho, I remained silent and finished my Pho and did not say anything else, when I checked out, they charged me hi tiu ap chao for to-go . The pho here used to be really good but for some reason lately it's been bland, even after adding the additional sauces at the table. You don't get that beef bone broth fragrant how traditional pho is supposed to taste. A slight sour taste is left in your mouth after, this may be due to the fact that they are not blanching the noodles. Instead the noodles maybe cooked with the hot broth that they serve you. Which I assume this is the cause of the noodles not being fully cooked, to where it is soft. The wait was around 35 mins for pho..considering it was only light traffic and for a pho restaurant it should be quick to serve once the broth is ready. I have yet to try one bad thing on their menu. The 3 dishes I rotate between ordering are either the pho, vermicelli, or Korean BBQ. The spring rolls are a must and if we're feeling like fatties we get the boba. Service isn't the greatest but if you're used to Vietnamese restaurants then it's exactly what you would expect. We have also done takeout many times, each time without any problems. There is a reason this place is so highly rated. Sriracha appeared to be thinned out and definitely not as hot; I had to use 4x as much as usual and I am very sensitive to hot sauces. Drink: My green tea was good. Went on recommendation from two ladies who work at a local nail salon. This is one of the three locations in town they recommended. Pho was very good and flavorful as for the grill for spring tolls. The service was slow and the reviews on here accurately reflect that. it took them 15 minutes to bring a Coke. They also never return to check up on you after bringing your food such as drink refills. There is also a language barrier with many of the servers so bring your Google translator to ask for more napkins etc. read more

When in Arlington, the choices for Vietnamese eateries seem to be endless and most of these establishments usually share the same fare with slight variation in the intensity of their sauces and soups. For example, something as simple as Peanut Sauce can make or break a spring roll when in the hands of the wrong person. Trust me, no one likes a naughty roll. Pho Palace earned it's way to the top of my lists of worthy Vietnamese bistros because the food is always fresh, from the flat noodle stir fries, to the vermicelli salads down to the drip coffee with rich condensed milk. The owners have put together a menu with a mix of northern, central, and southern Vietnamese specialties. I almost always get a noodle salad bowl switching from the grilled pork to the eggroll noodle salad with pork rind...not like the typical American crispy rinds but super thin and slightly chewy. On my recent visit I ordered the pork rind noodle salad with crispy eggroll and pork patties. The meats are grilled over fire then thrown over the angel hair-ish noodles. The rice vermicelli then gets garnished with roasted peanuts, pickled daikon and carrots, fried green onions, chopped green lettuce (bottom of bowl so mix it up), bean sprouts, and cilantro. I poured all the fish sauce over the salad and added some of the table chili sauce for a kick. I love these salads because they're not too heavy but refreshing and it hits the spot. The eggrolls here are the best I've ever had. Tastes like there's mushrooms, pork, and garlic in them. somehow, they're not dry or bland like other Viet places. The marriage of the noodles, garlic-y pork patties, and the crispy eggroll are a match made in heaven. Perhaps on my next adventure I'll branch out and try the Bun Bo Hue (spicy beef noodle soup) or a rice platter but the salads are so so good. read more

When a Vietnamese person recommends a location as the place that they go to to get there fix, you go try it. I'm elated that I did. I settled upon a large bowl of Pho with brisket, rare eye of round, and tendon (oh, the tendon!), and a fresh lemonade. The service was fast and for a little more than $9, such an amazing offering. The broth had wonderful flavor, the noodles were cooked properly, the tendon was perfect and plentiful (finally!), and the beef was very present in the bowl. This location doesn't skimp on the beef in any way what soever, and the rare eye of round was an awesome touch. To cook the thinly sliced eye of round actually in the soup to maintain and yet lend some flavor to the beef as well. Completely blown away by the lemonade, too. I mean, seriously? Can you actually do that? Being taken back by how incredibly fresh and perfect the level of acid vs sweetness, I didn't know this was actually possible, but it was just that good. As a native Arlington-er (?), I usually track the progress of the Vietnamese joints in the area. Some Vietnamese restaurants reach a peak (see Pho 95 review) and then go down. However, Pho Palace consistently delivers good, authentic Vietnamese food no matter how many times I go there. When you go in, the decor is about as nice as a non-Americanized Vietnamese restaurant can get. The colors are soothing, and the paintings on the wall are nice and non-distracting. Standard tables and chairs. Service is prompt, and my water glass was refilled several times throughout the meal without me asking (unheard of at other Vietnamese places!). After ordering, the food comes out hot and quick! I had the Hu Tieu Giay Mi Dac Biet Kho (Glass and egg combination noodle soup, served dry). It had a great meat-to-noodle ratio, and being the dry-version, the extra sauce they mix was delectable! I love that they top it off with an extra crispy shrimp cracker. Only the best noodle houses know to do this tradition. My friend had the Com Tam (broken rice) dish with Pork Cake, Shrimp Cake, Shredded Pork Skin, and Grilled Pork. He wasn't even hungry to begin with, but he demolished his plate because he said it was so good. The portions for both mine and his were generous, and the price was fantastic. It was something like 14 dollars total for BOTH our lunches and drinks. And we were stuffed... In previous visits, the Pho is above-average, good portion size and decent broth. The Nem Nuong Cuon (Pork Spring Rolls) were very good, and the fried eggroll wrapper in the middle gives the normally limp spring roll a satisfying crunch. Highly recommended. read more
