Fast service on most days. Sometime during the rush things might get a little slow with getting your check. But I don't know how the guy does it. Bottom line: Great pho at a reasonable price with speedy service! Let me back track and tell you how I came about finding this great little gem... It's 12:30pm, on a Monday. Been craving pho for like days. Yelp research for pho restaurant in my vicinity ensues. Place a pick-up order at Pho Sam. 10-15 mins later I arrive to pickup my order and food is already waiting for me. Score! The Broth was simple and not too rich, like a lot of other places I've been to. Some people might find this quality unattractive because they like a heavy beef broth but personally, I prefer it a little less oily and less overwhelming. I ordered rare beef and brisket and it was awesome. Perfectly thin slices of beef! Along with the container of broth and beef came a huge serving of bean sprouts, sliced jalapenos, and basil. I was really happy with this as some restaurants can be quite stingy with their toppings, but not here! I love having extra bean sprouts and spice to add to my soup and I had extra to spare! All in all, this little pho restaurant really knocked it out of the park for me. Yes, the restaurant is tiny, no it's not fancy whatsoever but for the price, quality, and service I will definitely be a repeat customer. Working in San Ramon, I like to support local businesses and I try to stay within this area when I eat out for lunch. This is my favorite pho place near bishop ranch. The soup is great and they don't hesitate with the portions. My coworkers and I come here a couple of times a month and the waiter (owner?) remembers us. He's super friendly but efficient, so he's not trying to be rude when he doesn't talk to you. It suits our needs when we can't get to Dublin for Vietnamese food. If you crave Pho on a cold day, there isn't much choice in San Ramon. The service is fast. The dining area can feel really cramped, especially on a rainy day. Be prepared to spend a little extra than you would at other Vietnamese restaurants of the same caliber. Nice little restaurant nestled in San Ramon. I ordered some pho and egg rolls for takeout here recently. Everything was ready in 10-15 minutes. When I called, it sounded really busy in the background but when I arrived, it was super quiet. The pho broth is on the lighter side and almost tastes chicken like (I got the beef). All the ingredients were fresh and even the tendon was tender. Rare beef was wrapped up in some plastic wrap but it was pretty bloody and was about to start leaking onto the other ingredients. It's hard to judge the egg rolls because they had been sitting in a closed container for a while and got soggy. One order had three longer pieces on top of two pieces of lettuce. Taste wise, they were standard. One large pho, one medium pho, and an order of egg rolls came out to $21. read more

Had lunch with the family today after church here. It was actually quite hard to find this place, but what do you expect out of a hole-in-the-wall place? And like many hole-in-the-wall eateries, this place was the best pho I've had in the San Ramon area so far. The prices are much, much lower than that of Pho Monsoon across town, along with the taste and overall quality. Compared to Pho Monsoon's overpackaged noodles, these were perfection. But at $5.95 for a large bowl of quality pho, you really can't go wrong with anything. The dishes they offer here are very typical to that of most Vietnamese eateries - vermicelli dishes, Vietnamese sandwiches, and the like. They do not offer a children's menu, but you probably can request smaller portions; the staff is very nice and will accommodate to any food allergies, preferences, etc. that you may have. The interior, I admit, is a bit disheartening - many of the walls were bare and at times I felt like I was eating in a haphazard food court/wannabe restaurant at the Asian supermarket. But as long as the food is good, I'm alright. read more
