Don't get me wrong, the food here is actually good. The pho broth tastes authentic (no bouillon/msg) and the other ingredients are fresh. One star deduction for table/seating nazi-ism. If the place ain't full and it's outside of the lunch rush, just let me sit where I want. nuff said. One star deducted for rude service. Of the 5 or 6 times I've been here, the man working the front always gives me a stinky attitude like I farted in his soup or something. ...which tugs at my imagination of what he could be doing to my food. ok not fair, but come on, it's not hard to be nice to people who are patronizing your business. This is the best Vietnamese restaurant in the tri-valley area! It's sort a small place tucked away in a small strip mall. They are usually packed during lunch with ppls who work near by and pretty quiet around dinner time. We usually get our order to go, they are always very fast and friendly. Everything taste great, our usual order is fresh spring rolls (super fresh made to order), chicken pho (sooooo great and soothing on a cold day!) and grilled pork chop over rice. Everything comes in a huge portion and they pack everything so neatly where I never have to worry about spilling hot soup all in the car. This will continue to be our Vietnamese food go to place. read more

Easily one of the best, if not the best, Pho restaurants I've been to. The #18 combination beef was delicious, and the broth was amazing, even my 4 year old who normally doesn't like this kind of food loved the broth and rice noodles in the pho. Great service, always friendly and they even taught me some Vietnamese. I can't believe I haven't known about this little gem even though it's been right in my backyard for two years now. Best Pho place around East Bay. They give you so much more than other restaurants plus the cheapest and the best beef soup base. The owner, Long, is very nice. He always remember people's orders. We've been living in San Ramon for about 5 years and had a hard time finding a Chinese restaurant we really liked. When Yang's closed, we thought we were screwed. We had tried China Pavillion in Livermore and really enjoyed their food. One of our friends said the same people owned this place (not sure if its true or not) so we decided to give it a try. This place is awesome!!! Not only is the food delicious but it's cheap and you get HUGE portions!!! We've picked up food here about 4-5 times now and have yet to be disappointed with anything. Some of their great dishes are the Chicken Salad, Honey Walnut Prawns, Moo Shoo Chicken, Prawns with Snow Peas, Broccoli Chicken, Crispy Chicken ( I can go on forever)...China Villa will always be near the top of my go-to restaurants. read more

Probably the best Pho restaurant in San Ramon. If there is one better, I haven't found it. It's clean and always busy, which don't always go together in a restaurant. They are fast and friendly, and I come here almost weekly. The fresh spring rolls are very good too, and I usually treat myself to them once a month, but then I have to get a smaller bowl of Pho. This place is really good! I had the number 5 and it was tasty. The beef was fresh, with noodles not over cooked and their pho-broth hot and buttery. Also their MSG use seems to be on the lower side, since my neck did not break out into any rashes. (Which is always as risk when going to a Pho Restaurant. ) I will give their combo plate a shot next time. read more

Have had spring rolls and mixed pho. Inoffensive, reasonably tasty, but not spectacular. Sadly, might be one of the better Vietnamese options in this part of the East Bay. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here, especially if I had any trips planned to the South Bay, but I wouldn't fight it either. read more

Went here for dinner after seeing the grand opening sign a couple weeks ago. The atmosphere of the restaurant is very plain. Not much in the way of decorations and no background music. First time I've ever been to a pho place where there were no napkin dispensers, chop sticks, soup spoons, or sauce dish at the table. kind of different. I had the BBQ pork vermicelli and a BBQ chicken sandwich to go. The vermicelli was pretty good, but could have used more meat. The BBQ chicken was excellent, but $4.50 for a vietnamese sandwich is like paying $6 for a Whopper at Burger King!!! Pretty good place and I would go there again if in the area again. I was overall disappointed in this place. The staff was friendly but the food quality just wasn't up to par like other Pho restaurants in the Tri Valley area. Our roasted chicken over rice was seriously bland and dry. The beef stew with rice noodles was served in a medium sized bowl too small to hold all the contents. Broth was okay not too flavorful. We brought a 10% off orders UNDER $25 coupon with us but the waiter refused to honor it saying that we had to order OVER $25. We did find another coupon that stated exactly that, but our coupon definitely said UNDER $25. read more

I was brought up in San Ramon (From 5-18). To my surprise they now have a Vietnamese place. It's cheap for the suberbs but exp. for Vietnamese. It is Chinese Vietnamese and the food is pretty authentic. I had the beef with egg roll Bun(noodles). It was my buddy's birthday, and I thought we'd try a new place for lunch. Reviews of this place seemed pretty good, so we felt there was a good chance we'd get some decent food. It's a nice and small place. It was clean; including the restroom. Service was pretty good. I think the only thing that maybe caught me off guard was that we weren't asked if we wanted anything to drink. The waiter took our order, and I guess didn't feel the need to ask us if we needed any other beverages than the FREE hot tea. All good though, because the tea was more than adequate to wash down the food. My buddy ordered some Chicken Pho and I had BBQ Chicken Bun (I think that was what it was called). I normally order my meats over rice, but this was a nice change. FYI, I wouldn't necessary call myself a veteran of Vietnamese cuisine. The food tasted great! No complaints from me. Our food didn't take that long to come out. I'm definitely not a fan of having to wait forever for food, and so this was nice. Prices are FANTASTIC! For two entrees, plus one appetizer...total came out to a little over $18. Would definitely recommend this place to others. read more
