I went with my boyfriends family to Atlantic City and they raved about this place! I was super excited to see what the hype was all about! They told me that whenever they come to Atlantic City, they always eat here so I had high expectations and they were definitely met! I ordered the com thit nuong, cha gio (sliced grilled pork with spring roll) the first time we went. It was absolutely delicious, definitely the best place I've gotten it. I ordered it at home once and it didn't even compare. The pork is perfectly marinated and grilled. The filling of the spring was so tasty and perfectly fried. The next day we went, I ordered pho and it was super good. I think this is just as good as I get it at home. But it definitely tasted home made and not from powder which was great. I highly recommend this spot if you're in the area. I would get the rice dishes over the pho, but to each their own. This place is definitely a hole in the wall so be prepared! Excellent food. Place is simple and unpretentious with dated decor but clean and the staff is very friendly. Had the Shrimp Pho, Vegetable Fried Rice, and Grilled Shrimp Vermicelli. Must try if you are visiting AC!! At first we wanted to try a brunch place nearby but once we saw Pho Sydney, we knew we had to try it. We went on a Saturday morning and were seated immediately. I ordered the Bun Bo Hue and my boyfriend ordered the Pho Ga with grilled chicken on the side. This was the first place I went to that gave me sauce on the side for my Bun Bo Hue, which made me felt like this is the most authentic place that I've been to!!! After a VERY long night at the Borgata, my friends and I searched a warm, comforting breakfast. Pho is my comfort food of choice and I'm guessing others' as well because this place was PACKED on Sunday at 12. I honestly feel like this place is not worth the money. Overall, the pho was alright. A large pho is 12.99 and the broth is not the regular hearty, MSG filled soup that NYC pho joints have. It tasted healthier... but most importantly, it didn't hit the spot. Also, the beef "slices" aren't the regular thinly sliced pieces that cook once you dip it in the broth: they're more like thick, knife cut chunks that the chef tried to slice thinly with a knife, but failed. The spring roll order came with two pieces for $5, and they were over fried.. As for the drinks, the Vietnamese coffee wasn't even filled up to the top! The cup was entirely full of ice, and it looked like a 4 oz carton of juice would've filled up the cup more than they did with coffee. Luckily, I didn't order a coffee but my friend kept telling me that the coffee tasted BURNT. Very disappointing. Sigh.. I feel like because of the location, this restaurant is able to jack up their prices, but the food really isn't all that impressive. I'd say this is a decent place to satisfy your Viet craving or to cure that pounding hangover, but overall service here is lacking and the quality of the food is just okay. Food: Average. I was actually disappointed in my dish, but everyone else enjoyed their's so maybe mine was a one-off. My dish #59 Bun Bo Hue (spicy beef noodle soup) had a very oily broth and the few beef slices in it were ridiculously tough. I'm not even trying to exaggerate when I say I nearly choked trying to chew and swallow that beef!! I tried some of my friend's #39 Bun Thit Bo Xao Xa (vermicelli with beef and lemongrass) though, and I liked the simple mixed flavors in it. The grilled beef here was a LOT better and more tender. I also had the iced Vietnamese coffee, which had a nice balance of strong coffee and sweetened condensed milk. Perfect for a hot summer day. Service: Not so good, but I guess I can't entirely blame them given our large party. Our waiter was impatient and seemed incredibly overwhelmed trying to keep up with our requests. Whenever he came out with anybody's dish, he yelled the number out to deliver it, and there was a lot of confusion if you didn't remember the number that you ordered. It wasn't the most pleasant way to be served, but I guess it did the job. Value: pretty good for AC prices. The bill doesn't show any tip or tax calculated, so be sure to ask what's included. I Yelped the area when hubbs and I came to AC for our anniversary and I'm currently on a hearty soup comfort food kick right now so, when I saw Pho Sydney in the area, I knew we had to eat there. We walked in and the staff was very friendly. They were really accommodating and made good menu suggestions. Ultimately, hubbs went with the BBQ Pork and Wonton Egg Noodle Soup and I ordered some Fried Salted Shrimp which were so flavourful. We also shared an order of Fried Veggie Spring Rolls. If you have Vietnamese people behind you, to your right and left, I think it would be safe to say this place is legit on many levels. Although, I am sure they did not come here because they are hungover like the rest of the younger crowd. The parking is one parking lot away. They share it with the restaurant across from them so it's really tight. Park carefully! It's a no frills, chill, share the table, seat yourself kind of place. Always super busy yet always serving up the same great consistency. The Bun Rieu is my absolute favorite thing on the menu and my go to from anywhere that serves this. Here, at Pho Sydney, You get super bold flavors in the Bun Rieu. Make sure to add the fermented shrimp paste. You'll get a combination of sweet, tart and savory. I came one January morning on a particularly despondent day that only a steaming bowl of Pho could fix. Rejoice! I came to the right place. The parking is kinda weird, they want you to park in the lot one building over. You'll see. As a fried tofu lover, I was very happy to see a lot of tofu options on the menu. Particular spring rolls with tofu, that's came with a peanut dipping sauce. Let me tell you, delicious. I ordered the vegetarian Pho, which comes with ample noodles, veggies, and again with fried tofu. I was a happy camper. Vegetarian here so I can know speak of two items. The spring rolls and the veggie pho. On quite a few occasions I've been told by restaurants that they offered veggie pho only to discover it's a pork broth. Fun fact : pork is pig and pigs are my friends. The fact that Sydney offers a completely vegetarian pho is pretty exciting! I've now had their Pho twice, and can confidently say that it's absolutely delicious. It was full of flavor and the bok choy and broccoli were fresh and flavorful. I also had an order of veggie spring rolls. Yum! More flavor than your average spring rolls. Note : the sauces that are on the table were great, the perfect amount of spice for me! The best Pho around AC. To me a good pho have to be the soup base, if the soup is not good, then no matter what it is not going to be a good noodles. The food came out real fast, and the portions is good sized, (they have regulars and large size for noodles) and the price is very good compare to other locations. The service is friendly, I understand that sometimes it get busy here but the service still answered you with smiling face, to me that is very important. You can be busy or short handed, but do not take that attitude toward your customers. This place is big and and they have ample seating for the customers. As we walked in we were quickly taken care by the hostess and were seated on a table. First time here. Hubby has been here before and said that the line was out the door on a Friday afternoon when he last came here. We ordered a lot of food as I was starving. The pho was great. Broth was tasty and beefy. I also got the bun bo hue which is a spicy noodle soup that you add shrimp paste to. It is an acquired taste and I love it. It's fishy. But if you're feeling adventurous I'd recommend it. Most places serve it with the shrimp paste already added but this place lets you add it so you can adjust the flavor. Do not add too much. I think it's similar to salted anchovies in terms of saltiness and fishy-ness. If you like anchovies, you'll like this. I also got the pork chop rice combo platter to go with my noodle soup. It was also delish. Pork chops were perfectly seasoned and grilled. The fried egg was a nice touch. 1 large plate, 2 big soups and spring roll apps came out to $34! What?? Parked in the parking lot a very short walk from Pho Sydney and walked in as a party of 2 at around 11am on a Sunday morning. We had no problem getting a seat. The servers gave us plenty of time to look at the menu and even though it was really hot, they were a bit slow to pour us water. We both ordered the #9 which was the everything pho, an order of fried spring rolls, and Vietnamese iced coffee in a to go cup. The spring rolls came out PIPING hot! Good sign that they fry these babies to order. Pho came out SUPER hot as well. The broth was a little sweet for my liking but then again, I do reside in an area known for PHOnamenal pho and Vietnamese food. The meat was a good portion and the noodles were cooked just right. My bf got the bun with grilled shrimp, grilled pork and spring rolls- he was nice enough to let me try and the flavor was so amazing. The thin noodles with all of the different flavors from the shrimp, meat and rolls topped off with siracha is a win. I had #13, pho with rare beef and flank. Wow it was good. I love my beef rare so this really worked for me...also the hot broth cooks the beef so it won't be rare for long! It was pretty cool...like fondue almost :) yeah flavor was delish and authentic. Pho came with all the traditional fixins!- lime, basil and sprouts. With your choice of fish sauce, soy sauce, Thai chili sauce, siracha and hoisin to dress up your meal if you even need more flavor! I also got the Thai ice tea and it was yummy in my tummy- could have been a little sweeter though. **More like 3.5 stars** Came here to itch my scratch for Pho Ga one evening. First question I always ask is - does the Pho Ga have a beef broth - or a chicken broth? Unfortunately, the answer was a beef broth. So I ordered a large bowl, along with an order of Garden Rolls - sans pork. The rolls came out - but had pork in them. I pointed this out and the guy took the order back and brought my order - this time made correctly. I added some Sriracha sauce to the peanut dipping sauce and mowed through the rolls - they were delicious and excellent! The Pho then came out. The aromatic/veggies were in good condition: bean sprouts, jalapenos, lime wedge, Basil, and Culantro (Saw Leaf Herb as it is known by the rustics). Added everything to the Pho to allow it to steep. Tasted the broth. Not bad, but not great. Good odor in terms of star anise. It smelled better than it tasted. The chicken was tender, but a tad overcooked. Slurped through the bowl. The Men's restroom needs a serious overhaul. I'd eat here again when needing a dose of Pho. read more

I don't think I've ever had traditional Pho. I still haven't technically since it wasn't what I ordered. But this is a really neat Vietnamese restaurant hidden away from the boardwalk along abandoned alleys and some seedy bars. It's also a short walk from most of the Casinos, Caesars, Trump, Ballys, etc. We came here for a group lunch with a bunch of Yelpers and had about two huge tables going of some groggy hung-over peeps. I ordered the Rice Vermicelli with grilled shrimp. They're very thin noodles, almost like ramen but without the msg and maybe a little less starch. No sauce or broth on this one but it is nestled with a bed of sliced pickled carrots, vegetable roots, and cabbage. Shrimp was cooked absolutely amazing and with some kind of spicy seasoning that I will never know of. I was also able to add various condiments to the dish which definitely added good flavor: sriracha, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, chili paste. It all went in at some point. Various people ordered massive bowls of pho and various noodle soups. They do not skimp on portion size. Others grabbed banh mi sandwiches and spring rolls. My roommates each had a fried rice dish. One complaint was that Steph ordered chicken fried rice without any of the vegetables and they didn't exactly get the order. She was pretty specific. But I get that its an unusual request and there are some language barriers. Best part about this place is how cheap it is for the amount and value of food. You will not spend over $10 here. So a lot of people love Pho and if you were in AC, Yelp indicated that THIS was the spot I needed to pop my Pho cherry at. I was excited to see the heaping bowls of Pho on people's plates and even more excited to keep anything down after enduring a violent hangover for most of the day. The broth and all the veggies hit the spot and eased me back into life. Sadly the beef itself was flavorless and full of fat, I could have definitely done without it completely. The small bowl is HUGE and easily split between 2 people. All the herbs and spices was fun to play with flavor in order to get it the right way. Overall though, I've decided I am not a fan of Pho....whomp, whomp... I was actually quite jealous because my beau ordered BBQ pork and white rice, very boring sounding, and it turned out to be amazing. The rice was nicely cooked and the pork had this demi glaze on it that was to die for. It was crunchy on the edges, almost a little burnt and an a extremely cheap $10. Overall I think the service was regular, especially for a hole in the wall place; the decor is out dated, our waiter barely spoke English....but guess what....they are making good food and have awesome reviews. I would definitely like to come back to try something else besides the Pho. The prices were very cheap and they have a large menu of other things besides Pho. read more

As vegetarians we tried the vegetarian pho (!!!) and summer rolls. My companion also tried a tofu /veggie/noodle dish. The food was all delicious and if I were in the area I would definitely go get more pho. On the down side, the place doesn't look like much. That's okay but the restrooms were dirty and without tp (noon on a Sunday? Cmon) and the service was weak. A nondescript Vietnamese restaurant off the boardwalk that was pleasantly surprising. After a night of gambling, it was the perfect remedy to wash away our woes from losing. Spring rolls were great, summer roll fresh, chicken fried rice off the hook and the pho was good. I don't know they do it, but the broth was hot throughout eating it. The only thing I didn't like was that the meat were all cut thick. And if you get rare meat, it's legit rare. I found that it thickens the broth a bit which I didn't like. Also, the beef cubes were not very good - I would avoid. Don't expect much from the service and decor but they do have a parking lot for customers which made it convenient to dine here. read more

The place is very very clean and organized. I loved how ppl once they finish their food they just walk up to the counter and pays for the food; didn't need a waiter at the end. We got their classic noodle (pho dat biet large $11.50) I seriously dislike the noodle that they use. I've tasted better Vietnamese noodle before. Their noodle is just super rough to the tongue .. not smooth and slurpy!!! Their soup base tasted like the one I've tried to make at home using a package Vietnamese powder I brought in the supermarket. It just nothing special about their noodle. Got the number 13 - rice noodles with rare steak and flank The noodles were soggy as if they had been cooked for too long. They would melt in your mouth not in a good way.
