I ordered #9, rice noodles with beef and veggies.

Great food! The servers were helpful and kind. The food taste delicious and I love that you can customize it to your personal liking.

What a homey restaurant! From the authentic Vietnamese pho to crispy Imperial Egg Rolls, I highly recommend any of the appetizers to start. I also tried the Bun Bo and the flavor was just right with lots of meat and protein. The service was also super friendly.

Best pho in Minneapolis! We are regulars and are never disappointed in the service or the food. Our typical order includes a G2 banh mi, an order of the spring rolls, and two #1 pho. The broth in the pho is my favorite in the cities and I love the portion size. The peanut sauce that comes with the spring role is my favorite. And I think most of the banh mi sandwiches are delightful - we tend to mix it up on which one we order. Finishing it off with a tarp bubble tea is my favorite treat after the main corse :)

Always been a huge fan of this hole in the wall pho place. I haven't been here in years but thought I'd give it a go. The food was not as good as I remembered, which made me very sad. My spring rolls seemed half the size I used to get in the past. I also ordered the seafood pho and the imitation crab was horrible. The service was also subpar. I waited over 30 minutes to be greeted. I don't know if I'll come back anytime soon with so many other options on Eat Street. The whole area is very scary so fair warning.

Pho Tau Bay 1/5 Instagram @ xcyanneats Not my type of pho. Maybe I went on a wrong day, but it was pretty watered down. Had to use lots of the condiments to get the right taste, but the chili oil was pretty good kick. Eggs rolls was pretty good, it was pack with a fair amount of meat and veggies than noodles Service was really bad, no one came up to check on us and refill water. I asked for extra limes and they just never came back

Dau hu xao bong cai xanh ($12.50). Broccoli & tofu stir fry, vegan by default. Not bad, not amazing. Pretty light and mild.

Located at the dead-end of Nicollet behind the can't-be-killed Kmart, Pho Tau Bay is easy to miss since it's not in the heart of things. That said, it offers extensive vegetarian options (most of which are vegan by default) and really good vegan pho. We got the "ca ri dau hu" ($12.50) which is a creamy yellow coconut curry with potatoes, carrots and tofu. The dish is mild and not bursting with flavor, but it's not bad, either. The "dau hu xao bong cai xanh" ($12.50) is a simple, light stir-fry with tofu, carrots and broccoli. It won't wow you, but it's fresh and not heavy. The "banh mi dau hu" ($7) can be made vegan if you omit the butter and pate. I thought this was bland and less than the sum of its parts. The bread was passable, but the lack of seasoning to the tofu killed the dish. If you want the best vegan banh mi in town, head a flew blocks north to Lu's Sandwiches. Lastly, the "hu tieu nuoc chay" ($11) is essentially vegan pho and really damn good. It's hearty, fresh and deeply savory with an excellent broth. The interior of the restaurant is happily 1970s beige and brown with carpet and regulars. Make sure to stop by before it gets hipster-ified.

Egg A1. Pork Eggroll - I'd get these again

My 1st time here over the weekend as I was checking out an exhibit at the Mia nearby with a group of 7. We needed a large enough restaurant for lunch so we wouldn't have to wait for a table. My friend suggested this place & said there was a large free parking lot which sealed the deal. Came here on a Saturday over lunch time. There was plenty of seating but we're also in pandemic-times so it didn't feel packed in there. THE SERVICE Overall, I can see how my experience would of been frustrating if I didn't have my friend who's been here multiple times with me. There's no sign indicating whether you should seat yourself or wait to be seated. My friend said we should wait by the booth-like massive counter for someone to seat us. This is the same counter you go to after your meal & tell them your table number. The table number was up on the wall above us so make sure to note that before paying. This restaurant requires you to be assertive lol. I made eye contact & waved down our server to order. When a few of us needed some to-go containers we just took them from behind a table. And like I said, when we were done, we didn't wait for anyone to bring us a bill. You just go to the front counter. For any newbies, if you follow this guide, you'll have no problems. I can see why service is common complaint in these Yelp reviews but went just fine for my first dining experience here. THE FOOD Ambiance of this place feels like a old school Asian mom & pop shop but don't matter since my food was awesome! Pro-tip is that the pork broth is much tastier than the beef broth. I tried my friend's beef pho & it was just ok. I got the #26 "Hu Tieu Mi Kho" which is served dry and then you add the broths to it. The one thing to beware of tho is that there's a shrimp in a fried dough that comes with the shell in it. I had to dissect it a bit & take that off before attempting to eat it again. I did try a bit of the other dishes & there's nothing more satisfying than knowing your dish is the tastiest at your table haha. The bahn mi two folks got looked great and they were pleasantly surprised that their bread was toasted. I liked the egg rolls here. I'd skip the boba tho. Wasn't bad, just not amazing. Overall, a few odd things about this place in but I would def come back here. And now with or without my friend to guide me.

We used to go when they were across the street in the small space. To me this is the OG Vietnamese place to recommend when people ask where to get great Vietnamese food. Food is always good and service is great. It has been a long time since I've been here and I'm glad to see they still have a lot of options available, even weekend specials. I had to taste the banh cuon since that is a weekend specials and not easily found in restaurants. It did not disappoint. The nuoc mam was perfect. Filling was good but I wish there were more fresh herbs for garnish. Bun Bo hue was filled with meat and protein!! I can't believe how much was in there. I normally don't like a ton of meat but this was so tender I ate it all. Pho was good. Broth had a strong star anise flavor but I like that. The mi hoanh ton soup was good but not the best. The wontons were huge! I appreciate the amount of protein in it. Cream cheese wontons flavor was good, wish there was more than 4 pieces per order though. Nem nuong serving size was pretty small. Wish we would've ordered the nem nuong spring rolls instead. Bubble tea tasted like strawberry milk, very sweet. Not my favorite but my daughter gave it 10/10. Salmon rice was good, we were able to add eggs for $4. The chili oil is very hot so be careful how much you add. 4% discount if you pay in cash. Gratuity added for parties of 5 or more. Easy to grab to go at the front if you are in a rush. We grabbed more to go after we ate too. The tri color dessert was ok, not my favorite but I liked the sweetness of the coconut milk in there. We grabbed a banh mi that was ready to go and that was good! Bread was crispy, but maybe too much bread ratio to filling. Banh bao was massive too, expensive for $8.

Well thinking I would go to Pho Hua instead, I pulled intonthe Shuang Hur Grocer's parking lot thinking I'd grab a few things before heading north on Eat Street. Then I saw signs on the Shuang Hur building for a (new to me) Vietnamese joint in the same building. Boy was I pleasantly surprised! My Huong is an 8-top hole in the wall across the parking lot from the rear of El Nuevo Mariachi Restaurant. The place is homely, small, but brightly lit and plenty of day light through the picture windows overlooking Eat Street. It's a big contrast to Pho 79 type places that are dim and short on ambience. The clientele shows. Instead of just a bunch of Asians throwing down Pho, it's a mix like you'd see at Quang or Eat Street Crossing. I was seated right away, was greeted by a cheery Vietnamese lady, and ordered Hu Tieu Bo Khu (Beef Stew Noodle Soup.) It was a dish I haven't seen before even though I have been to so many Vietnamese places (see my other reviews and lists.) The dish came very quickly, and I was shocked that they didn't bring it with a veggie plate. Oh well. Well the best way I could describe Hu Tieu Bo Khu, its basically a pot roast over noodles. So the beefy broth like a less spicey version of Bun Bo Hue, with flavors of lemongrass and star anise, nicely garnished already with what would have been on a veggie plate. The broth was delicious, slightly sweet with the carrots, and the beef was fall apart amazingly stewed with deep flavor. There were other menu items like Curry Chicken pho and a Stewed chicken rice dish I'd have to return and try!
