I found my new go to place for pho in the southeast side of Houston. This place is legit, y'all! It's definitely better than Pho Hai. I've been living in this side of town for quite some time and it's sad to say, I never bother to try it. I ordered spring rolls and a large bowl of pho dac biet while my husband ordered Vietnamese egg rolls and an extra large pho dac biet. I ordered the baby size bowl of meatballs(bo vien) and sliced rare steak(bo tai) for my three kids, age 10, 6, and 4. The baby size bowl is huge and more than enough for a toddler or elementary school child. None of my kids were able to finish it. Next time, I will order one baby bowl for the eldest and another bowl so I could split it between my 4 and 6 years old. The spring rolls was nothing to be excited about. Too much vermicelli noodles used as filler and lack of herbs. The dipping sauce was tasty. Nice and thick, just how I like my sauce. I'm a sauce person that like to pour a good amount on the tip of my spring rolls rather than dipping it into the sauce. By doing this, I tend to run out of sauce for my spring rolls. I didn't have a problem here. Thumbs up on the egg rolls. They taste almost as good as my mom's. Let's review what we're really here for...the pho. I wish I can say it was pho-nomenal but this place has potential and the pho was pretty darn tasty. What made it different from the other guys was the sliced rare beef steak(bo tai) that has been seasoned and slightly pounded to tenderize the meat. This makes the broth extra flavorful. I normally do not care for bo tai but I loved it here. They definitely didn't skimp out on the meat and noodles. My favorite were the tendons which I had more than a few in my bowl. Hubby wasn't in the mood for pho when I told I wanted it this morning but ended up enjoying it the most. Mind you, he's extra picky and always hard to please when it comes to food. I know what you're thinking, how did I ever get so lucky. Overall, hubby and I enjoyed the pho. We came here twice already and the pho has been really consistent. Had the strangest thing happened to me. Went to eat pho at my usual spot in SE, Pho Thy. Order a combo and was going to eat the pho there and take the spring rolls Togo for work later. The owner told the waiter to tell me that I could not take the spring rolls Togo. Needless to say I did not eat there. Xiet pissed me off and I just got up and left. But tell me this, why is it that I could not take the spring rolls to go? What difference is it if it was delivered to my table and I got full from the pho and wanted to take it to go then? I've been coming here consistently for almost three years now and I always leave full & happy. Their spring rolls and egg rolls are really good. They have really nice portion sizes, a little larger than I can finish so I always get the "baby" Pho Tai which is the smallest size they offer (shown in picture) and it's perfect. My boyfriend gets the grilled shrimp & rice w/ a fried egg and loves it. I've had Vietnamese food all over Houston and Beyond and out of out-of-state. Walking in with no expectations was blown away with quality of food. Spring rolls, egg rolls, grilled chicken sandwich and pork vermicelli bowl. All 100% I will definitely be coming back here for more as its not too far from home. You know that feeling when you're at a Mexican restaurant and they tell you they're out of tortillas? Neither do I. Yet, here we are at a Vietnamese restaurant, where they've run out vermicelli and, wait for it... RICE. I ordered bun bo nuong (vermicelli and beef) And after waiting at least 10 minutes after everyone else received their food, I asked where my food was only to find out they ran out of the noodles. Every time I come to this place, I am always greeted to a nice old Vietnamese woman that reminds me of my grandmother. The staff are incredibly nice to ask you how your day is going and to have a side conversation with you while you wait for your food. The Pho is the best part of the experience. As soon as it comes out, its steaming hot and ready to eat. Every bite, I feel even more at home. They even have bubble tea that is very good as a dessert! I was so disappointed with this restaurant. I ordered a bowl of pho which included meatball, raw steak, tendon, tripe, and flank. I paid $5 for extra rare steak and extra tendon. I also ordered a 5 count of Vietnamese eggrolls. Imagine my disappointment when i got home, and i only had 2 eggrolls and my pho only had rare steak and tendon. Nothing else. Place is good, I go here only when pho Binh trailer is closed which is around this time of the year every year. The food is good!! I don't complain much as far as cleanliness goes which I can see they try but given that it's an older establishment, it tends to look dated but doesn't mean it's not sanitary. The only thing I hate about coming here is the younger guys that work here look like they really fu--in hate their lives and are just rude!! It takes a lot for me to want to stab someone with a soup spoon and these guys really do it for me! My dad introduced me to Pho Thy. I think this is probably the best in the area. I used to like Pho Binh, I still do but I think the broth is more flavorful here. They have three sizes - Small, Large, and Extra Large. The Large would be equivalent to a Med. If you didn't know, they also carry pho ga kho. read more

Highly recommend coming here, Thai tea and food is excellent. Try the 19 with egg and the spring rolls and peanut sauce. What a disappointment! Came to this place after reading good reviews on Yelp. Other reviews states that this is a sister restaurant to Pho Dien, meat is marinated the same but the quality is nowhere near Pho Dien. The noodle was hard, the place smells like moth balls (so the brisket had a moth ball flavor to it) & they didn't have tapioca available. I barely tasted my pho & told them that my noodle was hard & still had to pay for it. They did offer to make me a new bowl but I already lost my appetite. I will never return. read more

The pho broth is descent but the bowl sizes run SMALLER. If you typically order a small bowl, I would recommend ordering the large. With that said, the quantity is not worth the price. The tai (beef strips) is prepared in an untraditional way; some what like ground meat seasoned with black pepper. Nonetheless the pho taste is average. Wait staff is a bit horrible...expected at many Vietnamese restaurants. The restaurant does take credit card which is the only reason why I ended up here. Quality has gone down. I went recently and ordered their dry chicken pho and it came out soaked in the marinade they use and smelled funny. Today I decided to give it another try and I ordered the pho with meatballs and rare steak meat and the meatballs tasted sour and old. Also, the guy that sat me down barely wiped down the table and did not use any sort of disinfectant or cleaning spray to clean the table. However, twice a month I am dragged to be on a quest to the BEST PHO REALM by my must have PHO wife and here we go! We have found this Pho Thy nested in the Goodwill trip. We were greeted politely as walked in and immediately seated. As usual I always order the biggest bowl of my beef noodle soup. The beef broth was naturally delicious, did not taste like it was full of food flavoring enhancer. Sheer disappointments! This restaurant was recommended by locals as a good place to grab some pho for breakfast. Their pho was just the same if not worse than anywhere else.
