This also happened to be the first time trying Pho and it was a perfect introduction to all that is the Vietnamese cuisine. This is my FAVORITE pho place. I can't tell the difference in the broth like my asian boyfriend, but I really enjoy the whole experience as well as the food. all you PB Pho lovers, go here! now that i have your attention, i've been to this place twice in the last week. it use to green papaya, paradise gril, etc etc but now it's Pho Time (PT)! i've heard not so great reviews under the previous names/owners for this place but what's in the past is in the past and it's "Time" to turn over a new leaf...haha. you like how i threw that in there don't you! i live in PB, so i can't help but compare it to the other local pho place--Pho Sao Bien (PSB). let me count the ways how i compare thee: 1) PT is bigger and very clean. It has a open and relaxing atmosphere compared to PSB. The decor is newer and modern. They even have booths! (my fav) 2) PT has a bigger parking lot, waaaaay bigger 3) PT has a slightly bigger menu and tastier food 4) PT's waiters are actually very friendly and actually speak instead of just the usual nod from the waiters at PSB. For ex. "Have a good day" "Please come back again" See you soon" 5) PT actually plays Vietnamese music, not that i have anything against PSB playing the same Bob Marley over and over again. Sometimes they switch it up and play Jack Johnson (also on repeat). overall, this place is awesome! as much as i love PSB, i will be taking a time out from them and jumping on the Pho Time band wagon. the patrons are slowly increasing but pls give this place a chance despite it's past and keep it open! read more

Love this spot for Pho. Never too busy, always consistent with food and reasonable price. We always get thee veggie spring rolls with the peanut sauce(very good) and then the Tofu or Beef Pho. Haven't been let down yet. Great spot. Would be 5 stars if it had alcohol. Clean as well! read more

This review is long overdue! I come here quite regularly when I'm in the mood for pho (which is quite often since I'm vietnamese!). I usually get the Pho Dac Biet and they make it perfect every time. I've tried some other dishes here like their Bo Luc Lac & some of their other rice dishes and found that they were just A-OK. The reason why I'm giving it four stars is because it is definitely the best place to get Viet cuisine in PB. read more

Had a craving for a vermicelli bowl and found this place in PB. We ordered the Bun Time which was the vermicelli with pork, chicken, egg roll and shrimp, I think. I say think because there was a pressed meat substance like a loaf that was grilled -- either beef or pork. It was fairly tasty but kinda weird texture. The chicken was okay and the shrimp was good but definitely under-represented! Only two little shrimp lay at the bottom of the carnage pile! There were lots of fresh veggies with the noodles and the fish sauce was good. Definitely wasn't as good as I'm used to. The online menu said it was $7.75 but the bill was $10.00 each -- we both had the same. Little pricey for what it was and the meat could use a little work. read more

We went here last night. We ordered the spring rolls and shrimp Pho. The Pho is good and the spring rolls were great! Lots of sauce given with the spring rolls and was tasty. I never had pho before I went to pho time. Honestly, I was a little sceptical. The first time I ate pho at pho time was one of the best moments of my life. I get the vegetarian pho. It is full of vegetables and tofu. Even if you get any of their meat options in yiur pho, I recommend adding vegetables for a more well rounded meal. I can now say I am a full blown pho addict. My favorite pho place in SD. It's the shit. I have tried ten or so other places but I always want to go back to this place.

The food is average.... but here's the problem... my husband and I have been here about four times.... we come in at the same time (around 6pm)..and order the same exact thing..... everything is the same right... so wouldn't you think the bill would be the same every time we came in? NOPE. Our bill ranged from 20$ to 28$... the last bill we received hit 30$ and that was it! We sat there going through the menu and adding it up with the waiter and he was like... that is right, 30$ is what you owe.. we looked at him puzzled. We are showing you the prices and what you are charging us... it doesn't add up... it was a waste of breathe. Nobody likes getting taken. Just drive to Convoy. Just surreal. read more

My wife is Vietnamese so I of course have been to a number of Vietnamese restaurants in San Diego and other cities as well. One of the things that has ALWAYS been consistent the majority of the time when I or we go is... 1. The service is crazy (in a bad way). 2. The staff is rude. 3. #1 & #2 in combination with the fact that they speak Vietnamese in front of you tends to make you feel uncomfortable. (Luckily for me I know what they are saying because my wife is fluent. But for some reason they either don't think she speaks it or that she's Vietnamese). The bottom line is that regardless of how good your food may be... A restaurant is a SERVICE oriented business. So if your food is good but your service and the overall experience people have when they come to your restaurant is bad then you will never have the maximum success your looking for. For example, as I looked through the reviews for this place, I noticed a number of people comment in the same things I have mentioned above. I seen one where he said he had no idea what was being said. Most likely had he been able to understand he probably wouldn't go back. Case and point.. While my wife and I were there, a group of the staff members were sitting at a few tables behind us and they were being very loud and I could tell my wife was getting uncomfortable. Then she explained that they were actually cussing and talking crazy about someone (not us but still). Now... imagine walking into the Cheesecake Factory or even a local bar and grill and hearing staff members talk like that right in front of customers?? You would probably leave or complain right. Well why should it be different here? It shouldn't and THAT is why I gave two stars. I didn't give one because my egg rolls were actually very good. But that experience overshadows that and for that reason I won't be going back. read more

I had my regular shrimp Pho with an iced tea and I just want to say that it was delicious, nice low key kind of place with a tropical atmosphere only a short bike ride from the beach. The broth was very tasty, the veggies were fresh and crisp, I think I counted 6 good sized shrimps. $ 8.85 for a good sized bowl. I will go here again! read more

I feel bad only giving 3 stars for a place called Pho Time, having not tried the Pho. I went for the Banh Mi, the springrolls and pretty un-memorable rice dish. I will give the place five stars on broth alone. Everything else is just right also. I have not been to every Vietnamese restaurant in town but I frequent a few and the broth here is my favorite. The spring rolls are great. The service is spot on and getting food to go is a snap. I like the fish tank seating as well. I have the Banh Mi and they were flavorful and aromatic. Yeah just nothing wrong with this place. I am so thankful that it is just up the street from my house. They have a nice tiki bar although no alcohol I believe. I never really want beer with soup anyway. I am usually getting the stuff because I had too much beer the night before. The coffee is excellent and powerful. Go here. read more

The atmosphere and dining hall is clean, modern, and quite comforting. That in itself earns a 5 however the same could not be said about their pho. It's a pretty decent pho, but I have had better. Their pho is on the right track, but it seems as if they overemphasized the sweetness of the soup. Their portions of meat are nice, but the same cannot be said about the noodles. With these factors in mind along with the price/portions of food, I would give it 3/5 read more

You cannot beat the shrimp and brisket PHO. Perfect every time.

We ordered the #1 and #2 pho bowls. The broth's flavor and aroma was above average. The pho noodles and herb plate were decent. The meat was tough and of cheap quality. Overall, the pho was OK at best. They use quite a bit of MSG in their broth. You'll feel it a few hours later when you are mysteriously thirsty as hell and crave sweets! Full disclosure: I've worked in a pho restaurant for a few years. The service was non existent. The employees are down right depressed walking around with long faces. For the food and service, this place is WAAAY overpriced. Will not visit again given that there are so many better Pho restaurants in SD. read more
