Sometimes good service broth good for price but not the best best spot to go to because I live down the street

Great pho! I go there twice a week. I'm addicted to the broth with extra lemon. There egg rolls are good too.

Cheap and pretty decent. Broth is on the lighter side, which is not something I'm used to seeing-- it was pretty good though, but there was a heavier-than-expected skim of oil or grease on the top, severely dampened the appeal. Noodles were okay, tripe and rare flank portions were more than adequate. Not quite sure I'd call them generous, but I was very pleased. Condiment portions were nice and generous, though. No complaints, fairly pleasant experience, just need to skim the oil off the broth and it might deserve a 4th star. I should note that I'm normally not in an area where good pho exists, so it is possible my taste buds were so happy to finally encounter pho that was NOT mediocre that they jumped for joy. =P read more

We were stopping by to buy some groceries when we wanted to grab a quick bite. The restaurant is spacious with lots of seating. We ordered 4 rice noodle soups , 1 beef over rice, and 1 summer roll. The food is actually better than most pho places in NYC. The place is run by Vietnamese people so it's more authentic. read more

This is the first place I had ever had pho and I really loved it! I don't particularly like spicy food, but they found a way to make the pho here absolutely delicious with the basil, sriracha on the table, and sauces to add on your own accord. The restaurant inside is VERY clean and welcoming. I always feel comfortable coming here, and I bring friends here from out of town who want to give pho a try. I've been here several times and every time it was out of convenience due to proximity. I'll be honest, if you walk into a pho joint and see a lot of non-Vietnamese people seated, there's probably a good chance the pho won't be that great. Not to say that non-vietnamese people don't know what good pho is but it's just rare that'd they'd be willing to venture into the bowels of Bolsa to get it. This place is built for the masses and their pho reflects that. They are a major violator when it comes to over-usage of MSG. We may be able to put a man on the moon, but when it comes to making a magic powder to substitute for the flavor that is achieved from slowly cooking bones into a fatty broth for pho, there simply is no other way. Also, I asked for a side of tripe and they charged me $3.00 for that. That's half the price of my entire bowl for a small side of cow stomach lining. Plus, they charged me for water. That's just wrong. I'd be a bit more forgiving if this place was still 50% like it used to be but it's not anymore. Anyway, I'd probably give this place a 1 star but they're just so darn close to me and since I'll probably be forced to eat here again, I don't want them to spit in my pho if they recognize me. read more

I've been here just once and there was nothing that set this restaurant apart from other pho restaurants. However, I must say that their oxtail pho is delicious! The broth base is pretty flavorful as well. Pricing is equivalent to most. This restaurant is a little bit spacier than most so you don't feel crammed. Service was pretty typical. ATTENTION OXTAIL LOVERS! my dear friends know my passion for great food, and they were right on the money when they took me to Pho Vie. this place had a constant line of people waiting for their turn to sit down and enjoy a great big bowl of some kind of deliciousness. i ordered the pho duoi bo....oxtail pho. i love eating oxtail, especially when its cooked for the right amount of time...meat still attached to the bone, but oh so tender when you stab at it with your chopsticks or fork...and if you get a piece of the tendon that just melts in your mouth and leaves your lips just slightly sticky...that's perfection. the noodles had a nice bite to it (by far some of the best noodles i've ever had at a pho restaurant) and the soup was flavorful while still being subtle until i started adding my basics like sriracha and hoisin. i ordered a small bowl, and i got 2 large pieces of oxtail. i think i might get the large next time(just so i can have more oxtail)...but it was actually a good amount of food for me without making me feel overly stuffed, because i also enjoy drinking the broth. the restaurant itself was clean and the service was efficient and friendly. they were very accommodating to our needs, we had 10 guests, including children. we were seated in about 5-7 minutes. though there is the constant line of people waiting, the patrons get their food quickly, eat it fairly quickly and the next wave of guests are seated and ready to order their meal. i would drive from walnut just to eat pho duoi bo...it is definitely worth the effort...anything for great food! note: if there is a wait, there is a clip board hanging on a string on the door for you to put your name and number of guests on...so don't wait for the waitress to take down your name...do it yourself. read more

50% off Pho Ga. It just happens to be the better part of their pho menu. Thinking I would be creative this go round and get a small pho ga and a large pho tai. I guess this is not normal because I confused the person taking my order, she was surprised I wanted two bowls. That was a mistake. Their pho ga was pretty good and generous on the chicken pieces. On the other hand the pho tai was flavor less. My order of large pho tai was greeted with an abundant amount of noodles and beef slices. If only the beef broth had some taste. One weekend, we tried this place for lunch when we came to the huge Asian grocery store that this place is located. We checked Yelp after we sat down. "Oh no.... this place is Avg 3 Yelp rating.... Should have known better", I thought. My hubby must have thought "Oh no, I am going to be chastised later if this place does not meet her expectation..." We ordered Spring Rolls, Vermicelli Bowl, Pho, and Beer. (Yes. this place serves wine and beer.) Pho broth was not too strong or weak. Just tasty and slightly on the sweeter side. A plate full of bean sprout, sliced chili, cut lime and herb that comes with Pho are very fresh. Vermiceli bowl is also very satisfying. We could not finish all although we liked all dishes. I do not remember exactly how much those dishes are, but do remember a small-size(it's actually big) Pho is like 5 dollar-something, and a bottle of Tsuintao and Corona are like $3. For this price, what more do you expect? If this place were located in South Bay area where we live, it could have received the average Yelp rating of at least 4. read more

Pho sure not! I love Pho but this place is diiirty. The sauces they left on the table...I'm not sure what had flew in there. It looks like it was left out for ages. Even the spoon that was used for the sauces looks like it's got mold on it...probably never washed them for weeks or even months. The service was totally terrible. I asked 2 different waiters for an extra plate twice and it took one of them 15 mins to bring me one. I also saw a dead roach the size of my thumb under my chair. At first I wanted to walk out but I ordered already so thought I shouldn't be rude. I've got to say the Pho Dac Biet was pretty good. I even ordered house special fried rice but what was so special about it is that it's loaded with garlic! Really? Do I want that much garlic in my fried rice? Although I'm half-Vietnamese I don't have the most discerning palate when it comes to Vietnamese food. It all tastes good to me! Dirty tasty pho soup in unsanitary facility. The only reason I always come to this place is because it is closer to me and convenient. The place itself is super scary due to the dirt and the staff who is playing around with the clean soups and chop sticks at the table... I am talking about the same utensils you are going to put in your mouth. So besides the weird vibe and really dirty feel, the food tastes very good and the staff is ok. They bring out the orders very fast and that's all what the servers tasks include, because don't forget you have to pay up front to the cashier and it is cash only. :) read more

Today, I officially ran out of reasons to eat here ever again. We used to come here at least once a week, justifying our frequency with the fact that the broth is richly flavored, on the cheap side, and we don't have to brave the reckless driving of little Saigon to get here. While all of that is still true, it pales in comparison to our experience the last couple visits. I've mentioned before that they ration your water intake, but it's gotten so bad that we have to ask up to five times just to get a glass of water, long after our food has been on the table. And the rumors are true- they charge 50 cents per person for a glass of ice with a few ounces of water. Even Disneyland doesn't charge for tap water! So long, Pho Vie. It's been real. read more

Food was ok except the bo kho which contained several giant lumps of gristle. But the real capper came when i went to the restroom to find a most disgusting scenario. I made a Yelp profile tonight to bitch about this place. Service, Vietnamese. Expected. Cleanliness, really Vietnamese; basically dirty and the first thing I noticed walking in. Should've just left, but I didn't. So my bitching is about the food. Granted this is a Pho place and their pho is probably really good (though I've not tried it), I must say if you're going to put something on the menu, make sure it's edible, please. I ended up dumping the bun on the table because it was cold and dry. The meat tasted shitty too. I didn't finish. I just paid and left, leaving a mess on the table while I was at it. Perhaps I could've been a little more civil? No, me going ballistic would've been uncivil. Long day, just wanted something to eat...edible!!! Go here for Pho, I guess. I wouldn't know or ever find out. But don't go here for anything else. They obviously don't know how to prepare or serve something as simple as Bun Thit Nuong. PS. Pho Vie has been a home to a lot girl talk! My best friend and I go here and order our usual each time for the past 4 years - 2 Pho Ga (Chicken Pho) and an order of Spring Rolls. I'm giving them a 4-star for their food, however, 3-star for their service. Though the food comes back, it's always difficult to communicate with the staff if we ask for anything special, like extra fresh bean sprouts for our Pho Ga. Their dishes are fairly cheap, for our 'usual order' it costs us about $18 and some change. The only downside comes at the end, they use to give us with each meal a custard type dessert, but they've stopped that for the past 3 visits. I guess it's the economic downturn. As, as I always comment, their water does taste like pipes, so I need extra limes to disguise the taste. :( Lastly, they only accept cash. Wish they would accept debit cards/credit cards so we don't have to run to grab some cash. Went down Beach Blvd because my fiance wanted to pick up some Lee's sandwiches. Lee's was closed. Saw Pho Vie in the corner still open. Just as a note, this place is CASH ONLY. We hit it up since we were hungry. She ordered some pho and I had the vermicelli with lemongrass beef & we shared some egg rolls. The egg rolls were pretty good. I liked the fact that the lemongrass beef was still pretty moist. The vermicelli itself was just average. I think it was the fact that the fish sauce you pour on it was a little bland. It didn't add very much to the dish at all. I didn't really try the pho, but my fiance just said it was so-so. Not bad, but definitely better places close by. I might try this place again to see if the ox tail is as good as everyone says. read more

50% OFF FOR PHO GA (chicken)!!!!! My pho ga was delicious and at a very low price for a very satisfying meal. The noodles for pho ga are different from the regular pho noodle. It's much wider and a bit more slimy? They give you a small bowl of fish sauce to dip that chicken in and mann is it good! The place is not fancy and our waitress had a lot of white powder make-up on (which made her look like a walking ghost) but it's all good because it's Garden Grove! I'm not expecting a 5 star restaurant! Pho Vie is the perfect spot to go for when you crave for pho after a long day at the beach. Your normal Pho place. I got my Bun Bo Hue as usual and my goodness... it tasted like they didn't put any seasoning in the soup what so ever. Kinda like hot water and some noodles. Boo :( I know that it seems like most yelpers like the beef stew more and I wish I got that instead. Their coffee was super strong; it honestly looked pretty pathetic in the cup of ice (the ice was filled up to the rim and the coffee was half the glass). I actually kinda understood why there was that much ice but the presentation and waiting for that ice to melt so I can have my coffee was torture. This place is okay! I usually eat here because it's the closest pho place to my house. They have ox tail pho here! (Lots of pho places don't have ox tail pho.) The price for a bowl of pho was average. Today, the restaurant was the busiest I've ever seen it probably because most other restaurants were closed due to Chinese New Years. The portions are better now. They still need to work on the containers that melt. Service in house is fast but TO GO sucks. It's such bad business to have someone answer the phone when they don't speak English. You need to hire someone who speaks English! Today I called for a TO GO order and it was busy because of the rain. She hung up before I was done ordering. I called back and said I was still talking! She just laughed it off. Nice clean pho place. Read the previous reviews about .50 cents for water, but I didn't get charged. Paid $5 for a small bowl of pho (pho special combo). The soup was really really good. So good in fact, I was tempted not to add anything to pho. But I did anyways. Sriracha is just too good to pass up. Good portions of meat and noodles. Most places skimp, but this place had plenty. Final verdict: Not the best pho in the Westminister, but good soup and large portions make it worth a visit. read more

This is my go-to Pho place since it is close to my office. Most of time time It's pretty good but every once in awhile I get a bad bowl. The first time I went here I actually hated it because it was so salty! About a week ago, I was there with my parents and they forgot our spring rolls. Today I noticed the soup was much darker than usual and it tasted like soap. Not that sort of soapy taste cilantro can give, but straight up soap. Also, I've only been here ONE time where my table had any sauce dishes. I usually have to just put it on the play my sprouts come on. Consistancy! My girl and I come here once a week on average when we are craving Pho. The egg rolls are also pretty awesome here. Service is great, and there is never a wait to be seated. The portion size is substantial but lacking in the amount of noodles they give you for a large bowl (order extra noodles if your hungry). So I said hey lets try this place over here as I was sooooo freakin hungry and we needed to shop at the store next door. She told me that this place is pretty bad, but me being me, you can try it one more time!! BIG MISTAKE!!!!!! She ordered some Bum Bo Hue or how every you may spell it, and me being white: I KNOW ITS NOT SUPPOSED TO COME OUT LOOKING LIKE YELLOW CURRY!! She did not like it at all, and when I gave it a try I thought it was pretty nasty! I ordered the number one. Pho Vie Dac Biet, you can never go wrong with one of those right!! WRONG!!!! This pho was one of the worst I have ever had! The crystallized MSG was just crazy! I felt it while eating my pho. I felt it on the bottom of my bowl. This made me go through like 7 cups of water!! When I kept asking for water, the waiter was pretty rude about the refills. What could you do. You give your customers MSG up the heezy, and then you dont expect them to work you for refills.
