This review is for my take out order. This place has been standing for years ever since I was a little kid! (Over 20 yrs) And I'm so glad they're still open because their Fried Chicken Rice dish is just how I remembered it! Of course now it's around $13 but still worth it! Now it comes with a fried egg and side of soup. The sauce is the best part. Other restaurants with this dish have tried to replicate the sauce, but no one has made it the same or better! Haven't been here in over a decade but at last, finally returned to enjoy a childhood restaurant that has been in the community for years. The inside still looks and feels the same. Nothing has changed, from the entry to the table setting. One thing did change and obviously, was the price. Had to order the original chicken and rice. Still tastes delicious as ever. Came here because of the good Yelp reviews while looking for a rice and chicken place. Ordered their number 1 since it was highly recommended. The chicken was juicy and crispy. A ableist restaurant filled with lovely elders and denied my service animal access. I was very frustrated because I don't think they understand ADA law. I will be reporting this location to code enforcement for a violation and take it from there. I asked to speak to a manager, and they said they weren't here or available and denied me public accommodations. It's unfortunate because I was looking forward to eat here for nostalgia, bc it was a spot I would eat here as a child with my parents. Also what's crazy, is they their own yelp says dogs are allowed. I will highly consider taking legal action. update: they removed the "dogs allowed" amenities on their yelp page, but I have a screenshot with time stamps. I've also called and reported the incident to code enforcement. I have evidence of the interaction via video available for code enforcement if they request it. After reflecting, I have decided it's not within my values to seek legal action against a small business operated by elders. However, I do want them to get more equipped on how to be navigate public accommodations. read more

The ambiance is not great. But the service is sweet auntie vibes if you speak to them in vietnamese. Everyone knows of their famous com ga" or chicken and rice dish. But their "tom kho tau" or prawn shrimp and tofu dish is super overlooked. Just like their com ga... their tom kho tau is the best I have had in my entire life.. even my mom and my own tom kho tau can never be as good. The only downside is its CASH ONLY. For a $10 dish.... i always order 1 of each. And if im hungover, their bun rieu does the job. Eat half of each... and share the other half with someone else. Home cooking... is the best explanation of their dishes. No one will be able to replicate these 2 dishes ever but 1.99. I adore this place. It's delicious, authentic, and a bang for your buck. I got this fried chicken dish (~$12) and when I say the chicken was cooked to perfection, it was crisp, golden, and just amazing! The portion size is pretty large too and the sauce that it comes with is delicious too (almost like a sweet soy sauce). The place is super spacious and we didn't have to wait at all. Been going to this place since my childhood, when it was located on Garden Grove Blvd! Their 1/2 cornish hen with rice and a fried egg is the best thing to order here. Their fried chicken is extremely crispy and coupled with the fluffy orange rice is a great combination. Their onion sauce is what makes the meal though - perfect to mix with the rice and to dip the chicken in. Their side of pickled cabbage is also refreshing and a great palate cleanser to the oily-ness of the fried chicken. First of all, this restaurant is in a smaller plaza that has plenty of parking. The vibes of the restaurant are family-style, Vietnamese, and a little dated. It's a very comfortable and casual ambiance, so sometimes I just show up in pajamas and it's no big deal. Service is a little bit slow as it's older ladies working and sometimes they forget, but they're trying their best. My family has been loving the chicken and rice combo here. It comes with half a chicken (fried I believe), red rice, sauce, fried egg, and pickled veggies. The sauce is so addicting, I could not tell you what is in it but it seems like it's just a sweet soy sauce that goes with all the components of the meal. I add sriracha cause I need a little spice, but it's optional. The portion is pretty big, so I am able to take about 1/3 of the plate to-go. My family also gets the pho sometimes, which is decent! They prefer cash here, so make sure you got some bills on hand. This is an authentic Vietnamese restaurant experience. I grew up with this place ! I remember when it was 1.99 then 2.99 now 2025 10.99 ;) their deep fried chicken rice Alway hit a soft spot for me on certain days. I go to this location and the one in Santa Ana. This location is just the restaurant no boba. The place is indeed old- think of hole in the wall with consistent food taste. Chicken has a nice crispy exterior and juicy white meat and my favorite is the drum and thigh for the dark meat. The red rice never fails and the sauce is delectable. I can't eat the meal without the sauce. The pickled veggies adds the perfect acidity and freshness to cut the fat of the fried hen. Best chicken fried rice you can get anywhere. Also known as com ga roti at other restaurants, the #1 item on the menu, is simple yet explosive in flavor. The chicken is fried to perfection. Juicy and crispy throughout. Orange fried rice is a hint sweet with a nice light saltiness that goes well with the chicken. The sauce that comes with it, compliments the whole dish and brings it together like red and green does on Christmas. Took some friends from out of town here to have then try something I would not be able to get in any other city in the US and they absolutely loved it! This spot is the OG of com ga roti and you will not be disappointed. It is everything I remembered as a kid. The Cornish hen was perfectly crispy. The red rice, picked veggies and sauce all went together perfectly. The older Vietnamese ladies were so kind and welcoming. The restaurant itself is not the nicest and I personally don't like that they don't provide tap water, but if you're coming for the Com Ga, you will not be disappointed read more

SEN is stays true to their authencity, going for quality over quantity, with their two page menu. Didn't realize just how many Vietnamese restaurants were in the area, so stiff competition! And no, SEN is not a KEI Concepts location! After ordering, we were given our waters in plastic to-go cups, which I thought was a little strange. After our food arrived, there was no check in, no water refills, and you have to go up to the counter to pay. At least its very convenient, streamlined, and efficient! I found the food to have a great depth of flavor, something a lot of pho places lack. I especially liked the wider noodles which offered a nice chew and texture change. Everything was cooked perfectly, and there were plenty of sauces to mix and match if you wanted to spice things up. Definitely worth a visit!

The vegetables and pickles made the sandwich taste similar to another famous chicken sandwich place. I actually liked it overall, but because the chicken wasn't fried evenly, I'd give it a 4/5. Garlic Noodles The garlic noodles were okay. They definitely had a lot of garlic, but I didn't think the cheese on top was necessary. It kind of ruined it for me. I won't rate this one since it was free, but I probably wouldn't order it again. Service wasn't bad. It was super busy when I went, so I had to wait a little longer than the estimated pickup time. There's ample seating inside, although the AC was kind of lacking. Overall, I'd probably come back for the chicken sandwich and give it another try, especially if a friend wanted to go. I wouldn't really recommend the other items I tried, though.

They open early, making it a perfect breakfast spot for an early bowl of pho. The pho broth is exactly what I want when I'm craving comfort food--clean, flavorful, and incredibly soothing. However, the star of the meal for me was the chả giò. Wow. Although they arrived after our pho, they came out at the perfect temperature. I was hesitant to take a bite right away because freshly fried food usually burns my mouth, but these were just right. Crispy, airy, savory, and absolutely delicious. Paired with their fish sauce, it was perfection. I enjoyed the egg rolls so much that next time I'm definitely ordering the egg roll vermicelli bowl. Service was friendly and prompt despite how busy it was, and it's clear the staff works hard to keep things moving. One thing I love is seeing all of the awards and accolades displayed on the walls. Phở 79 received the prestigious James Beard America's Classics Award, and it's easy to understand why after one meal here. This restaurant is truly an Orange County icon. The restaurant will soon be moving to a new location, as signs throughout the restaurant announce the upcoming move. While I'll miss the original spot, I'm excited for the new space--hopefully with more parking! Some places are worth the wait, and Phở 79 is absolutely one of them.

The flavors that used to make this place a go-to for me are now lacking, and the overall quality of the food has noticeably declined. The dishes felt bland and uninspired, which was a stark contrast to my previous visits. It's such a shame because I used to rave about this place to my friends. OK. Seriously, I would give this NO STARS if I could. I use to go there back when the chicken was $2.75. The chicken sauce was totally awesome. I went back yesterday night with my family because we happen to be in Westminster and was hungry. The sauce is still great. If I knew how to make it...I only go for the sauce. The service was horrible. What did you expect from a place like that, we weren't Vietnamese. What pissed me off was that my hubby and I ordered the chicken special ($3.65) and my brother ordered the $1.99 . Our drinks were $1.75 each. I left a 10.00 tip (we're big tippers cuz I used to be a waitress and suffered from losers who don't tip) and carried my baby to the car while my brother was paying and our total came to $32. and then some. Seriously, do the math. Three of us did not eat that much. This isn't Olive Garden! He didn't care, just paid the check instead of b*tch*ng at the cashier. We will never go there again. I'm giving this place 4 stars for my favorite com ga chien 1/2 plate! My family's gone here ever since it opened and I really like this plate. The chicken is crispy and the sauce is awesome!!! Finger licking! Altho the price has gone up, it's still worth it to buy! Where else are you gonna find this quality and taste for this cheap of a price? The Com Ga Chien (Cornish Hen Rice) was absolutely delicious - the chicken skin was crispy, while the meat inside was juicy and well-marinated. We also ordered #33 French Style Beef Steak Fried Rice ($16.50). Even though the meat was nice and tender, it could have stood for a little more seasoning. At no point was there a sincere apology or an effort to make things right. As someone who enjoys supporting local restaurants, I believe customer service is just as important as the food. A simple mistake can easily be forgiven, but the way customers are treated leaves a lasting impression. Being blamed for asking for the order I originally requested was both frustrating and disappointing. I hope the owner takes this feedback seriously. Better staff training on customer service, communication, and handling complaints would greatly improve the experience. Unfortunately, after this experience, I won't be returning.

It feels like home when I walk into the store. The store is neatly decorated, showcasing some of its delicious dishes on the walls. You may find some things on the counter, selling some awesome homemade chili and ginger sauces, and various other things.
