Exploring pho shops in the peninsula is quite interesting. What I have discovered thus far is the discrepancy in price and portion. Pho in this area is expensive... The price of a small pho at this shop is what a large would cost elsewhere (mountain view, Oakland, San Jose, parts of SF, etc) I'm not used to paying $9-$12 for a bowl of pho...must be the cost of rent/people who live around here? I don't know... The pho itself is really good, though. I like the flavor of the broth and also how clean they make it. They don't give you a lot of bean sprouts (I like a lot in my pho) but I just asked for more. The soup to noodle ratio is a bit off as well, imo. Good pho...but pricey. read more

Where do I even begin? For one, and perhaps the most important at a restaurant, was the food. It was INCREDIBLE! We ordered vegetarian egg roll appetizer, and beef & broccoli and vegetarian pho as our main meals. My girlfriend is vegan and I dabble in vegan cuisine. Often when we go out together for Asian food the "vegan pho" is essentially tasteless water with veggies in it. In our old city we had a spot that actually nailed the dish and we struggled to find that in the Bay Area. We started with the veggie summer rolls and these were beautifully presented on the plate with attention to detail. The texture and flavor was spot on. Then we got the veggie pho and let me tell you the flavor was BETTER than our spot in our old city. Overflowing with tofu and veggies including mushrooms for the umami bomb. Given the attention to detail and quality they put into the vegan pho I can only imagine the meat would be incredible as well (I find this to actually be the easier of the 2 to make. And the place is an adorable mom and pop operation with very homey decor and a TV with football game on, if that's your jam. Highly recommend this- it's our new neighborhood goto. read more

This is a actual pho place in the mid peninsula. These are hard to find so when you are craving pho and live in the area your choice is to drive to milbrae or north or south to san jose. The prices are a little high but that is probably because their rent is as well. The pho was decent but they do not give too much meat or noodles. I would just stick with the regular size as it seems the portions are the same but you would just get more soup. Broth is okay for the beef pho. My partner liked the beef roll bun but like I said, lack of portion size. When you order a large you would expect a little more food. We'll be back if we are craving viet food since it is the only place within a 5 mi driving radius but will probably opt for a regular size since it seems that large doesn;t get you that much more. read more

Really enjoyed our experience here and the average 4-star rating was true! Food is great and I second previous reviewers' tips about the pho broth being so wonderful. My stomach was feeling a little bit uneasy (though it didn't stop me from downing five imperial rolls), and the broth helped to settle it. Husband thoroughly enjoyed the fresh shrimp rolls, then we both had pho (mine was #13). I just have to remember to ask for no cilantro and I think my next experience will be even better. I was super excited to try this place on a late Saturday afternoon and my order was ready super fast. I ordered the well done beef brisket with extra jalepenos and toppings! This is such a local gem! I love their bun bo hue (spicy beef noodle soup), especially on colder nights or when I feel a cold coming it's the perfect remedy! The broth is rich with umami and I love the beef tendon pieces! Other dishes my husband and I enjoy are: shrimp egg rolls, vegetarian rolls, and stir fry eggplant tofu (great vegetarian options) which goes so well with some white rice! Pho with FLIES. This was my WORST experience ever. We ordered four phos and TWO of them has flies in the soup. Which is very disappointing and disgusting, we called the server, oddly the server said it was fly in when door opens. Seems like this is very typical for them. We asked them no charge for two soups with flies and didn't ask for replacement. Of course. And they accepted. We then quickly leaving the place, the server followed and opened the door for us, said: Please DO NOT come back, we don't welcome you and we have the right to REFUSE to serve anyone. Your typical 3 star mediocre pho that will do the job when you're craving it. We are still on the hunt for good pho in the Peninsula area. We may just go to the South Bay next time since that goal seems nearly impossible after trying a plethora of establishments. The prices are standard for the Peninsula area; nearly $11 for a large. Add a couple bucks more for XL. We came here with a huge appetite for pho and demolished it easily within 10 minutes. The large is more like a medium; the noodle portion weren't generous and we were still hungry afterwards, unfortunately. We had to buy a second dinner to stop my cravings, yes don't judge my cravings. The broth was okay. I honestly don't remember much about it. I remember thinking it tasted like a decent home cooked pho, nothing too flavorful but it wasn't overly bland. The meat portion was pretty light; I plowed through the rare steak like candy. I wanted spring rolls so badly but $6.95 for just 2? I had to pass! Why is everything so expensive on this side of the bay? I feel like I can't afford anything and need to resort to instant noodles on the weekdays and eat my mom's cooking on the weekends. The service was great. Both the waiter and what seemed like the owner were incredibly friendly and attentive. We got our order taken and our foods delivered in less than 10 minutes! I was seeking a pho restaurant after getting checked up at Sutter Health just down the street. The parking lot is extremely cramped, so drive slow, and be careful. It's one lane and one way, so if you miss an open spot, it's too late. The owners themselves were quite nice and attentive. The bowl of pho that I got was nice and hot, fairly tasty. The normal (smallest) bowl of pho came out to be like 10.15 after tax, which to me is a little absurd. The bowl of pho wasn't like a large anywhere else, it's actually small. The Bun Bo Hue here is served with pho noodles instead of thick noodles. The broth was good however the portions were awful. The sides of bean sprouts were 1/4 of the portion served at other restaurants. Even worse I ordered a large bowl, which just meant more broth, the amount of noodles, tendons, and beef were non existent. If it wasn't for the friendly service, i would have rated this place a 1 star. 19$ and change for a skimpy bowl is absurd. read more
