$2 extra to substitute your beef broth to chicken broth, but it is not stated anywhere on the menu, nor was it communicated to us. Any fair & normal restaurant usually charges extra for ADDITIONS - rarely for substitution unless otherwise noted. This is a fishy business if you ask me, as their chicken pho and beef pho items on the menu are the EXACT SAME PRICE, so why would I be charged to change the soup? We love this local spot and have been supporting them since they opened several years ago. Their pho is consistently good as are their vermicelli bowls with pork or beef and egg roll. We went to try Pho Whittier on a rainy Wednesday lunch break and were quickly seated despite a nearly full house. Service was very fast and our food came out faster than expected. Since it was our first time here, we decided to try the staple dishes as they usually tell a lot about a place for subsequent visits. We ordered the (A1.) Vietnamese Fried Eggrolls, (2.) Rare Steak, Welldone, Tendon Noodle Soup and the (81.) Grilled Pork Banh Mi Sandwich. The eggrolls were perfectly crispy on the outside with a complimentary soft inside. It did not disappoint and was a good dish to share. The pho came in a decent-sized bowl. The noodles were chewy and thankfully not too soft although the broth could have been a bit richer. The pork for the Bahn Mi was tender and well-flavored. It could have been improved with more vegetables and some much-needed jalapeños. Overall, this restaurant is solid with fair prices. Their pho is ok and will do the job if you're looking to satisfy a craving. Their broth is fine but it is a bit lacking in flavor. Something about their pho broth does not jive well with my tastes buds.... Maybe the proportions of the other spices and anise is off? I get a stronger clove/anise flavor in their broth than the other place I've tried. Their portions are on the smaller side, but I've only ever ordered take-out. Perhaps their portions are larger for dine-in. This is one of the only pho restaurants nearby so I'm glad it's at least an option, but it certainly would not be my first choice for pho. read more

This place is good not lying, I went today to have lunch with my daughter today. First of all the reason I'm giving it a 3 star because I have been coming here for many years never had a problem at all, today I asked for a simple request which was to modify an order of spring rolls, one order 1 shrimp and one tofu well they said no we can't do that you have to order 2 orders. Ok I ask fine just don't put shrimp on one spring roll they said ok. When they gave me the food, first bite the roll fell apart omg I asked for Thai tea and water with no ice, well had to ask twice. The waiter acted like he didn't like us and we were treated like crap, I can't believe that I could ever feel like this at a place where we frequently eat. Never again will I return, I have paid so much money at this place for food and because I asked for a simple request, all hell broke loose smh. Shame on you read more

I come here often because I think the food is delicious and the staff is very helpful and engaging with their customers; this shows they really care about the Customer and about the quality of their foods. I typically order pho with rare beef for my daughter who doesn't eat the beef but I do, and the bun mit plate/bowl with with marinated barbecue pork or beef they're both good, over noodles. The more spicy the better, and don't forget to add a little fish sauce on it too. I also like their spring rolls and those are the best the bbq beef inside, IMHO. I hope you come here often and take good care of the staff because obviously they are making great food for you, and we can make sure they prosper and keep us ALL SET with Pho here in Whittier. read more

I love this place. We ordered food from here a lot of times, everything was excellent. Today we were ordering one shaking beef and three house special broken rice. It was very good except the shrimp wrap with tofu skins in special broken rice. All three of them had the sour taste. I think the shrimp is spoiled and should be thrown away. Pho Whittier is so delicious and the food is always authentic. Service: the service at this restaurant is average since it is so popular it is hard for servers to check on your table frequently. Food: the portion sizes for pho are large. And we always have to go home with a to-go box even when I order a small bowl. The chicken and beef pho are the best. We come every Sunday and look forward to it not only because of the food, but because of the team working here as well. They always have such a genuine smile for you and are very attentive. Had been craving Pho for a while and finally decided to do takeout. Called in our order and it was ready within the 15-20 minutes it took to get there. Everything was already packed in the bag including sauces and our order was accurate. The food was delicious and just as good as when we'd dine in.
